Blessings and many MANY thanks to the staff that tended to me - "Spider Woman" in the cat shirt - and my Welsh husband. Creole was a huge first for my husband and he was shaking in his shoes. He fell in love with the experience and the food . We both had Poboys (his was catfish, mine oyster) and the food was exquisite for lack of better wording. The bread was incredibly fresh and hot, the fish and oysters melted in our mouths. Damned near orgasmic. (Sorry, children.) The beignet took me back to our honeymoon in New Orleans 40 years ago. Man, don't I love Cajun food! If you're looking for a taste of Louisiana, this is where you need to be! It's giving bourbon street vibes on the inside. The people here are super friendly. I don't recall the man's name who waited the tables. When I tell you this man was attentive and ensured all guests seated within were satisfied....he did THAT! Very respectful individual and if you're looking for a reason to give him an increase, this is IT! Everything we tried from the catfish po boy, crawfish etouffee, beignets, and jambalaya were seasoned to perfection! I'm not sure if there is anything here that wouldn't be bursting with flavor! The service is accommodating and there are lots of staff stopping by to say hi and check in on you at your table. We try to come once a week if we can. Their crispy shrimp poboy with a side of remoulade sauce is my personal favorite but everything we have tried has been delicious! The chicken and sausage gumbo is perfect, warm, and comforting. They also have a seafood gumbo that is flavorful and seasoned to perfection! The Alligator bites are fun and crispy and come with a yummy sweet and spicy sauce. The Etoufee and jambalaya are perfectly prepared and filling! My favorite side is their house-made potato salad. And dont forget to grab a few beignets before you go. It's a standalone establishment created by two brothers from Louisiana. You will not be disappointed with the food or the warm hospitality...we were treated to lagniappe...something extra...one of the owners poured a bit of the amaretto sauce that is reserved for bread pudding on top of our beignet...and based on the taste, another time I would order the bread pudding! This was my first time coming to Voodoo Gumbo, and it will DEFINITELY not be the last! This place had THE. BEST. Po boys and beignets I have ever had. The fries were delicious to say the least, and the sauces were great! The customer service was the best I've experienced in a very long time from any restaurant. The wait time was not long at all, the food was fresh and hot when it came to our table, and all of the workers were so authentically kind. We were given free beignets from the owner, and it was just the nicest gesture! You can see that the kitchen is very clean, and so is the whole restaurant. My family wanted to go to Voodoo Gumbo for the bread pudding...which is amazing! We ordered our food to go... a lot of food, by the way. It was good, but I felt it was overpriced for a couple of the orders. The fried oysters meal was light - to be specific. I thought that maybe we got less since it was to go. I'm sure they normally give the same amount as when eating at the restaurant and this was just an oversight. The service was great. They were very friendly at pick up. This is my friend's favorite place and since it was his birthday - we went here for an early celebration. The service was excellent and the owner makes an effort to come out to say hi and made sure we enjoyed our meal. My friend loves their shrimp po-boy ... that thing is massive! We had the catfish atchafalaya with spicy fries, gator bites and jambalaya. They were out of the seafood gumbo so I settled for the jambalaya. It was a little too mushy for me. You guys were packed when I came in as a solo table. I expected to get pushed to eat takeout but was stoked when they offered me a table with no push back. This was our second visit, and we were just as impressed as the first. Poboys are delicious and are served on the right bread for an authentic Louisiana Poboy. Seafood gumbo was spot on! I have only 2 minor complaints: 1. They do not have Tabasco sauce. That's a real must for Cajun food. 2. The only Cajun seasoning they have is Slap Ya Mama HOT. Not many people in Tennessee can take this level of heat. Having some regular Cajun seasoning would be a good move as it would let folks around here get a good taste of Cajun seasoning. read more

We tried Voodoo Gumbo for the first time tonight. we were seated promptly and well taken care of by the servers. The interior had a nicer feel than I thought it would, with fun twinkly lights and pretty New Orleans pics on the walls. They had a nice little draft beer selection with many local choices. Mine was perfectly cold in an actual Pilsner glass. We ordered, and while we waited the owner or manager came by to thank us for coming in. We told him it was our first visit so he offered us complementary beignets after our meals. Hubs had the shrimp po'boy and I had a fried shrimp platter. The shrimp were unbelievably tender and perfectly cooked. We tried both the cocktail sauce and the remoulade and both were great. He had regular fries and I tried hot fries, both were fantastic. The restaurant was very clean and all of the staff involved were courteous and super pleasant. The gave us advice on their favorites and what the most popular items are. The beer was fresh and delicious, which is always a plus! I had the Shrimp PoBoy and some of my son's étouffée, we all shared on some gator bites and beignet too. The beignet was covered in such a thick amount of powdered sugar, it made every bite a little piece of heaven! The dudes had a fried shrimp plate and some catfish too. I didn't love the breading on the catfish, but the flavor was all the best. There's also a Louisiana hot sauce on the table as well as a shaker of "Slap Yo Mama" seasoning which was AMAZING to add the spice I was craving to my shrimp poboy. Menu seems limited to mostly fried foods and items that can be prepared in large batches (gumbo, jambalaya, etc..). The only fish option is fried catfish. I was unsure of what to order given my restrictive diet. I was offered a sampling of the etouffee, which I loved, so that's what I ordered. They also offered to grill the shrimp for my half po boy. The etouffee I received must have come from a different batch because it was ok.... but not as amazing as the sample. The shrimp po boy was good, and the shrimp tasted fresh. The wait staff was attentive and friendly. Definitely will come again.
