I've also referred a lot of my friends to them. They opened the new store in soho earlier this year, and I believe it was a smart decision on their path. The store is chic and classy. I went upstairs and was greeted by a young woman on a phone and perused the various goods. I went with Doce de leite (dulce de leche) as well as some bananad cremosa. They also have cashew nut juice which you can't find in most other stores which I partook in. The prices were high but it's quite hard to find these things in NYC and their selection was excellent. She apologized for being on the phone while I was bringing the things over and asked what I was trying to find afterwards which was nice. Forget democratization of fashion, if you want quality it still costs because most Crocodiles are justifiably ravenous. Frankly, I'm at an age where I'll wear what I want always opting for quality over designer or cultural mood swings. Five stars for the Crocodile whatever the hell it says about me.

We rented bridal outfits for our anniversary photos and the day before the shoot Kaede contacted us to let us know they wanted us to sign an agreement for 4k in case the outfits got damaged. We had even proposed ourselves to come right after photos to return the outfits (even tho we had more photos scheduled in the evening). This tactic a day before something scheduled months in advance was very low. The fact that they tried to price gauge us last minute and in turn ruined our photoshoot (we had to cancel the whole thing and lost an incredible amount of money because of this) in the end the thing that made me the sadest was that our anniversary photos were not possible thanks to these people that instead of offering us alternatives just tried to milk us for more money last minute knowing our situation(they expected that we would agree in desperation). I do not recommend and will never do business with them again.

Akiko was very pleasant on the phone, but something must have gotten lost in translation since I specifically stated that I needed to BUY koshi-himo and obis, but when I went to her location, everything was for rent only. The obis were also this strange rubbery/foam fabric and had the clip on bows on them, so if you are looking for "real" obis, this is probably not the place for you. She has quite the hopping Etsy page https://www.etsy.com/shop/kaedenyc and that will honestly be more than adequate for the average yukata wearer. Her "store" is a shared office space in Herald Square (a bit difficult to locate since the signage on the door doesn't indicate Kaede NYC) and I don't think she normally has customers go there. Basically, if you are looking for an inexpensive and easy to wear yukata set, you found it. If you are looking for higher quality items that take more time to put on, Kimono House will probably be a better bet. She also offers "how to put on yukata" classes for the yukata newbie as well :)
