Tried this place out for the first time over the weekend... I see a lot of people compare it to Flame Broiler, but its WAY better. I got the WABA Plate (Chicken and Steak) with brown rice, and I added avocado. It came with a small salad and an orange slice. I added a bunch of green onion that is in a container over by the sauce and silverware. The plate had a LOT of food, and it was all REALLY fresh. I ate every single bite. The avocado on top was a nice touch and had a lot of flavor. If I ever crave Flame Broiler again, I will go here instead. It is 100% better. Well on the whole, clean restaurant, and fresh food, but like so many others on here very disappointed in the service and the fact that they are so stingy with their sauces and exceptionally rude service when asking politely for additional sauces. I really do prefer Waba to places like flame broiler but I really can't imagine that the corporate office would be ok with franchisees using Waba sauce as a profit lever for their location. I will be contacting them as well to let them know of my experience. To charge 30 cents per packet of sauce which is less than 1 oz. The employees here are incredibly rude and impolite. I've visited this place a few times hoping for a better experience and have been let down every single time. These people act as if they are inconvenienced anytime they hand me my order as well as when my order is being placed. I'd give them 3.5 stars if I could. I came here yesterday for lunch. Typically I'd go to The Flame Broiler, but this time I was wanting shrimp. Plus I am a pescatarian and they don't serve shrimp. Anyways... I got the shrimp and veggie bowl and paid a little over $10. At first I was excited because I was super hungry and shrimp and rice sounded so good at the time. There are 2 positive things to mention before going any further: 1. the employees were polite and assisted me right away (might be due to the fact that there was only one other customer in there who was already eating) 2. I thought the presentation of the food was well put together Now to the negative... The shrimp did not smell appetizing. The marks from the grill gave it a not so pleasant smell and after a few bites I was completely turned off and threw the entire meal away. I was completely bummed since this was the first thing I had (attempted) to eat all day. It literally tasted how it smelt. Second is that there was (in my opinion) too much cabbage. My husband got us some plant-based steak bowls to go, and when he got home told me the cashier was incredibly rude and barely acknowledged him. Lo and behold, when we opened our orders, they were real steak. Ordered delivery from Door Dash. The food itself is just ok, Flame Boiler quality, but I'm taking off 3 stars for every dollar I spent on the extra shrimps I ordered. I ordered a Salmon and Veggie bowl, which is $13, pretty expensive already for a small piece of fish with veggies and rice. I then added $3 for some extra protein, the shrimps, and when the meal arrived I was shocked to find only 2 shrimps for that extra $3. These aren't prawns either, they're average little shrimps, so I thought maybe they're some sort of royalty shrimps (like a sultan or a duke or something). This is a good place for those wanting healthy, grilled items with rice, salad or grilled veggies. The proteins they carry are chicken, beef, tofu and fish. They have low carb options and vegan as well (tofu). Their lunch combo plates are good since you can mix and match what you like. Service is very nice and quick for those of you in a rush. I like any grill that carry Sriracha just because I like pouring lots of that over it. I got the Waba combo with chicken and beef. Instead or rice I had it substituted for grilled veggies. WHY HAVE I NOT TRIED THIS PLACE BEFORE. yes, it's like flame broiler, but i think it's so much better. the flavor of the meat, the taste of the sauce, i love everything about WABA. I've always seen people eat at this place, but i never actually knew what the hype was until i smelled the aroma coming from my friend's bowl. i always opt for the steak, but i sometimes get the waba plate, which comes with both steak and chicken. not sure what i like more considering it's the waba sauce that takes it over the top. you have to add green onions because it literally transforms the taste of the food. i like that they are always so fast with preparing your food, no matter what time you come. of course, people come around lunch time, and even then, there food is prepared so quickly. i like that the menu is simple, so it doesn't take long for someone to order and they don't have to prepare much when making your food, however i wish they would actually list prices, whether online or on their brochure, so we can gauge which entree/bowl/plate we want to order. i've heard that the child's bowl/plate is enough for one person so i'm definitely going to get that next time, considering i only ate half of my entree last time. read more

Tofu! I found tofu that is really good! I have tried the tofu at Flame Broiler and found it to be very soft and not particularly appetizing but Waba Grill understands how to make tofu. It's got great grill marks on it and quite tasty, particularly with the Waba sauce which is a Teriyaki style sauce. This place had extraordinary customer service and was extremely clean. I bought a chicken bowl and a Waba plate,which is a combination of chicken and steak, for my family and everyone liked their dinner. WaBa grill is, in my opinion, the best fast food teriyaki bowl location in Orange County. The food is very fresh and tastes delicious. The customer service is ok at this location. I guess I should have read the reviews first, this location has close dearlier than what's listed as their business hours. I ordered food online at about 7:20pm on Friday and the hours show this location open until 9pm both on Yelp and on the Waba grill website. Received an email confirmation that my order will be ready at 7:42pm, we get there and they closed at 7, the employee came out and didn't seem to care that people are still able to order food for this location. They need to update the website and Yelp of their business hours, a year is a little too long to have wrong hours listed and to actually accept orders online when you're closed. My boyfriend has been coming to this Waba Grill for a long time because he works nearby and always mentions that the owner/ manager has terrible customer service. Today when I went, I experienced it for myself. I was the first customer of the day and after greeting him Goodmorning he didn't say anything at all, didn't smile, didn't even ask me what I was going to order, it seemed like he just expected me to say my order as if I were talking to a robot, not to mention he didn't have a uniform on, or a name tag. Having always gone to Flame Broiler for years, and always feeling as though they (Flame Broiler) has gone down in quality, I noticed this place opened by the house so I thought I'd give it a try. I placed my order via phone then got there within 10 minutes and my order was just coming up ready for pick up. I ordered the Beef Plate with white rice and avocado. I ordered my wife the Chicken (White meat) plate with brown rice and avocado. Got home and opened the containers and it smelled and looked great. I dug in and was first happy that the meat wasn't over cooked like as my recent experiences at the Flame Broiler. The rice was cooked perfectly, the sauce was yummy goodness. It comes with a kale salad and some melon. The kale salad was actually very good as well, it has a dressing on it, just enough to give it some flavor without drenching it. The melon was ripe and flavorful. My wife absolutely loved this place, her chicken plate was excellent she said. This is now her new favorite place for chicken plate or bowl.
