"healthy" food my asteroid... Check the sodium (salt) content. Recommend intake is 2,300 mg or less.
    Ell R.

Holy crap! This is NOT healthy at all! A chicken bowl has 2,455 mg of sodium!! That's more than the recommended daily intake in just one meal! The chicken plate: almost 3,000 milligrams of sodium!! How can they call themselves "healthy" when the sodium content is through the roof? Waba salt grill more like it. Enjoy your hypertension. PS: check the nutrition guide.

    Chicken & Steak Bowl

Paid 12 dollars for a bowl and they forgot my veggies and green onions very little meat too. Bowl looks so boring, I was really craving this all morning.

I really wish they would bring it back because it was one of the restaurant's signature dishes and a favorite among many customers. During this visit, I ordered the sliced pork and the jelly noodles. The sliced pork was incredibly tender, with a clean, fresh flavor that let the ingredients' quality shine. The jelly noodles were refreshing, spicy, and full of bold Sichuan flavors. The combination of heat, seasoning, and texture was simply delicious. The dessert was also surprisingly good. It reminded me of mochi, topped with puffed rice that added a pleasant crunch and contrast to the soft, chewy texture. If you're looking for authentic Sichuan food in Los Angeles, I highly recommend Sichuan Impression. The flavors are genuine, the dishes are consistently well prepared, and it's a place you really can't go wrong with.

Service-wise, I do appreciate the active accountability and communication from this establishment. Because the drinks took some time to arrive, the manager came to our table himself to explain and acknowledge that the delay shouldn't have happened to begin with (this is when he mentioned we'd get a mango sticky rice on the house). Was honestly unexpected because 1. We didn't even flag a server down for that issue yet and 2. Some managers refuse to even come out to talk to their clientele lol! Especially during times where communication is needed. Overall, my girlies and I enjoyed our experience at the Irvine NEP and we will be coming back. Thank you so much for taking care of us. :-)

I ordered the Inaka soba, which was very savory and flavorful. The bowl included tororo, mushrooms, bonito flakes, shredded nori, green onions, and an egg. I enjoyed the nutty buckwheat flavor from the soba noodles and the clean taste from the light dashi broth. My husband had the curry udon with beef. The curry was aromatic and came as a silky, soup-like consistency that coated each udon noodle nicely. It had a deep umami flavor. The udon was the ideal texture - thick and chewy. As for the beef, it was very tender. We shared a crunchy roll on the side. It was cut into 8 pieces. Every piece was super crispy and delicious. The main flavor came from the eel sauce, so it tasted very sweet and savory.

It wasn't fully packed by the time we sat down. While he was busy chatting with another table, we were waiting for 15 minutes before the guy who seated us came to take our order. We ordered and noticed people who were seated much later than us got their food already. Another server who brought food to the table next to us noticed us and asked if we got our food yet. He double checked for us and main server hadn't sent our order to the kitchen. We had already waited 25 minutes in addition after placing our order. Our order came out very quickly after the realization. Unfortunately the lemon salmon sushi roll that came out seemed incredibly rushed. The roll wasn't tucked in so each piece we grabbed broke apart. The fried squid legs were good. The udon texture was good, but by the time our food came out, we weren't in the best mood. All the waiting and lack of service ruined our appetite. The 2nd server gave us a bag of salted noodle toppings to-go as a solace for the bad service? Though this location is bigger than the original, I'll be going to the Costa Mesa restaurant for better service.

The decor is gorgeous and inviting - perfect if you're meeting friends or taking someone on a date. Cocktails are fire, order one. For their starters, I really like the bone marrow onigiri (2 for $20). This dish is constantly reincarnated so you never really know what you're gonna get. On my first visit, it included trout roe which is so decadently delicious paired with the marrow. The rice is proportionally small so each bite captures the decadence. The skewers are pricey, but if you order one, let it be the maitake mushrooms ($7). It's so meaty that you forget that it's not meat at all. Highly recommend. If you're sharing with a group or need some carbs, I recommend ordering the fried rice. I've had the prawn and pork versions and both are great. The fried rice is solid so any added protein is just a bonus. I've met some dishes I didn't love, but I really like that their menu is ever evolving. I'll definitely be back to try some of their specials.
