Wabi sabi is one of those cute small hole in the wall sushi places, they offer some decent sushi at good prices. We have gone here twice. I can't say much for the consistency, as the rolls seemed to look and taste different than the first time. But they were still good. I think the second trip was a bit of a let down since they really. Brought their A game on the first run. We were craving more of their food. Since the second time didn't have that same quality to it. I don't think I'll be going back. Ramen was not very good. I got the spicy tonkotsu and my friend got the spicy garlic miso. Both of our broths were decent but the pork, egg, bamboo, and other add-ins were cold. However, the service was exceptional. Our waiter was so kind and thoughtful, and offered us additional candies at the end! This restaurant is just amazing. We've been ordering delivery from them since we moved here in June. The Yaki udon is amazing and so are their egg rolls. The ramen is also so great! The staff is kind and appreciative of the business. They had an issue with a delivery driver one day and they were helpful and apologetic. Their prices are also reasonable so if you're looking for an excellent meal that isn't super pricey then you can find it here. HOW I FOUND GLASS IN MY FOOD.... I want to give a zero but apparently that's not possible. I found GLASS in my sushi. As I chewed on something hard and got it stuck on the roof of my mouth. As I pulled out this piece of glass, I immediately called to voice my concern. With NO help and attitude, I was told I could either get free sushi or a refund (as if this place was deserving of me wanting free sushi). I come in the next day with receipt on hand... First time, went to try the samples they offered during Taste of Irving Park. Really likes the Taro drink, it was not overly sweet and very refreshing. The ramen was good, that's one of the dishes they're known for. The people working there were very friendly, make sure we have each of the samples to try, even gave an extra and smiled about it. I believe it's locally owned. From the looks, the people working here seemed to know each other very well as they worked seamlessly. Let me start off by saying I hadn't been here since before 2020 when everything shut down. For over three years I've been dreaming of their Lava Stone appetizer and I finally got to go back this weekend to indulge. Happy to report I was not disappointed. We started off with their Lava Stone, Gyoza, and Shumai. All delicious! For the maki rolls, we enjoyed the Godzilla, Chicago, and Crunchy Spicy Tuna. The only one we probably wouldn't order again is the crunchy spicy tuna, just cause we weren't fans of the tempura topping - but once we removed it, it was delicious. Came here on a Thursday night and had a really nice time. Thankfully they take reservations so I knew we would be seated when we showed up, even though when we got there, they were not excessively busy. I'm so used to going to ramen joints that don't take reservations and end up having to wait outside for 20-40 mins, so this was a nice change! We ordered the spicy tonkotsu ramen and the spicy garlic miso ramen and both were very tasty! I'm so glad to have found this place which has good customer service and good ramen, I can't wait to go back! They were pretty good for the basics! I had the spicy garlic miso and added extra fungi and it was delicious. Perfect for the weather and so affordable. I could eat this ramen every day. We got sat right away and sat at the window. Our server was prompt and helpful and took our orders right away. The food came out so fast and all of it was extremely tasty! Most of the sushi rolls come in 5-8 pieces. I ordered the crab Rangoon, shumai. passion maki, butterfly maki, spicy salmon roll, and the bold ramen soup. Continuing our ethnic tour of the Chicago area restaurants, tonight we went for Japanese. This evening, all four of ordered ramen. I had the Curry. My husband had the Seafood. My daughter-in-law had the Black Garlic and my son ordered more spicy ramen called Bold. Each one of us really enjoyed what we ordered and were extremely grateful since the hot ramen warmed us on a cold Chicago evening. Service was prompt and courteous. The dining area was clean and nice. For a Friday evening, there were very few people there. That was nice for us, but probably not for business. Soft music set the mood, but didn't disturb your conversation. We ended up parking about five blocks away. So, unfortunately, our warm bellies ended up cold again.
