Wade Park Cafe is one of the best places to eat if you want to get some work done or just relax. I go here almost 3+ times a week during school to relax during my flex period and to get a bite to eat! The staff are super nice, me and my friends love the hospitality from them, especially Mrs. Gail! The food is delicious, the breakfast here is so so so good (I recommend their pancake combo, waffle combo, power sandwich, and their avocado toast!). The lunch here is also amazing, I usually pick a soup (HIGHLY recommend the loaded potato and tomato Gouda) that they have in their rotation and a grill cheese, but they have many delicious options that my friends get. This is a nice little cafe located in Wade Park near the PNC Center that serves breakfast and lunch. I usually stop in for just coffee when I drive my son to CGHS for the morning football workouts. They offer a nice menu of breakfast platters, croissants sandwiches, wraps and paninis. Today, I decided to try a breakfast to go. I went with the breakfast wrap. You get your choice of bacon, ham, sausage, Turkey bacon and sliced Turkey with cheese on your choice of wrap (white, whole wheat, spinach). I opted for the fruit salad on the side but you can get potato salad and a side greens salad. The wrap was cooked nicely and pressed in a panini grill. The coffee here is pretty good also. They also have fresh baked pastries, breads and muffins. The interior is bright and cheery especially on a sunny morning. You can also sit outside in front of the cafe or in the park across the street, which is what I did today. On a nice morning that beats dashboard dining in a high school parking lot in my honest opinion. read more

Wrap was okay although the toppings were not dispersed evenly so each bite I got lots of a single topping...I would have waited longer for a better assembled product. We were fortunate enough to get there early enough to not have to wait in line for very long and to get a decent and clean table. I thought it to be a little pricey for a cafeteria style food and atmosphere but that wouldn't really prevent me from coming back. This quaint little cafe is only open from 7AM to 2PM Mon-Fri, so until today I've just passed by. Finally I had the chance to come here for breakfast, and it was really very nice. I got the everything bagel with sausage, egg, and cheese, which was prepared fresh. There were generous portions, although there was a bit too much cheese for me. I was really impressed to see someone cooks the eggs to order in the back, but they were a little over cooked for me. The bagel was warm and toasted, and the whole package was certainly good solid breakfast. In addition, there was a fruit salad on the side that actually had fresh fruit (pineapples, strawberries, and grapes)! The service was very quick and warm. Disappointing breakfast for one of the top rated diners in the area. I had ordered a few ham egg and cheese breakfast sandwiches on a bagel. The eggs were not fresh, almost resembling a Dunkin donut or fast food style egg. Parts of the egg were a strange color as well and did not taste right. The ham was standard lunch meat pressed to resemble something cooked in a pan and the bagel did not appear fresh. Safe to say I will be avoiding this spot when visiting NC in the future read more

Went here with a friend, on her suggestion. The interior is functional and accommodating. The staff were pretty friendly, and the food was brought out fairly quickly. I ordered the chicken salad salad, and it was enormous. I wasn't a fan of the French dressing, but the salad itself was good. I also had a bowl of the lobster bisque, and really enjoyed it. Menu items tend to be on the pricey side, but I don't mind paying for good food. I'll have to try one of the sandwiches, next time. This place is worth a visit, if you're in the area. read more

If you are looking for one of those hidden gems to have a good sammich at, this place is your spot. Not sure how I found out about this cafe, but while doing errands around Raleigh I decided to duck in and find it. It is way back in an office complex building on Wade Park Blvd off Edwards Mill Rd, near Cardinal Gibbons High School area. If you didn't know it was there, you'd never look for it! There is a corner entrance so you don't have to go into the (very very nice) office building itself. It is a very modest, simple place but decorated nicely, see the pics I managed to nab. You order at the counter and the staff bring it out with your name as the identifer on the order. Their goods range from sandwiches and paninis, salads and soups, and even breakfast if you catch them early enough. There are daily specials as well. As I stopped in on a Wednesday, I chose the Super Reuben daily special with corned beef and turkey with a side of chips. It was great, it is rarely that a sandwich satisfies me for a meal but this one did the trick, and pretty tasty to boot. They have a large assortment of drink options, from self serve fountain drinks to a self serve fridge of fruit juices and drinks and other assorted beverages. I got a Berkley & Jensen Mandarin Orange Sparking Water Beverage in a 20 oz bottle, delish...I'm going to remember that one. The staff were busy with their duties but nice and attentive on my visit. Catch 'em early though, because they are only open until 230pm. Nice for the office staff in this complex to get a good lunch. Bottom line: Great hidden gem for a good sammich. Lots of choices. Modest cafe but clean and nice, with good staff. There is even a nice park opposite the building so if you want to go outside and eat, you can enjoy (water fountain, sculpture art, benches, and all). Wade Park Cafe was wonderful for lunch yesterday! This cafe sits in the base of a very nice office building in Wade Park, right off Wade Avenue, I-40, and 440. It's only open for breakfast and lunch, but has several options from croissants, sandwiches, panini, salads, and soups. I chose the Cranberry Gorgonzola salad and shrimp corn chowder pairing. My only complaint about ordering that was that I didn't see the "pair" option on the menu. Thankfully, it was offered to me to make my preference more affordable at around $8.95 than $7 + $4.50 for the soup. The cranberry gorgonzola salad had cranberries, walnuts, grapes, blueberries, mixed greens, cucumbers, tomatoes, and even a red pepper. I enjoyed the raspberry vinaigrette, but when I asked for some extra to go, I learned that it's just Ken's Dressing so not fresh and made in house. My shrimp corn chowder was in between a cup and bowl size. Both items were fresh and delicious and I had leftovers for dinner! This is a simple cafe. It's not much to look at, but it has a small staff, is decorated in a rather quaint manner, and the food is good. I'll definitely be going back. read more

We had heard about this place from a friend. We work about a 7-8 minute drive from here so decided to try it out today. The woman running the place was very helpful and patient as we read through the menu at the counter to decide. She offered suggestions as well. I had the Italian panini and my coworker had a half sandwich/half salad combo. He got roast beef & horseradish. Both sandwiches were very good and had plenty of meat and other items on them. His salad was large and had a fresh variety of lettuce and other vegetables in it. I chose half fruit and half chips for my included side. The fruit was very good and fresh. Next time, I'll get all fruit. There are several items on the menu that I'd like to try so we'll be back. Overall, great sandwiches and fresh salads. Wow! This little place is amazing! I rushed in before 2:30 and was pleasantly surprised with the results. I had recently spotted a groupon for the cafe and decided to try it out. The staff members were very pleasant and helpful. I decided to order the Chicken Salad Club with chips and the Italian Panni with fruit, and despite the fact that they both tasted amazing, there was no way I could eat soooo much food! The fruit was fresh and tasted so sweet! The sandwiches were wonderful for a hot afternoon. And, trust me, you definitely get your money's worth of food for the price! I came here for breakfast on October 19, 2015 based on the strength of the Yelp reviews. I left resolved to never return based on the weakness of the food and the unpleasantness of the environment. The Good: Pleasant woman that took my order. The Bad: Gobs of processed cheese on my breakfast Crossant + a pile of pre-cooked (nearly raw) bacon + small size + styrofoam cup for my coffee. The Intolerable: The radio station BLASTING "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun," and other annoying songs from long ago. The music may soothe the staff but it's positively intrusive. A sign over the prep area states "If today is your birthday lunch is on us." Nice gesture but no thank you. It's not worth the effort. read more

Our office recently relocated to one of the Wade Park office buildings and I've visited the cafe almost weekly for the last 2 months. The food is good and is consistent. One tip- if you order a sandwich it will be grilled unless you clearly specify otherwise. They have a good variety of sandwiches including panini style sandwiches. They do not skimp on portions. I generally get the fruit as my side. The melons and cantaloupe have always been good - I have no idea how the always have perfectly ripe melons. They recently offered gyros as a special. The first one was awesome. The second was very good: a little heavy on onions for my taste. I'll remember to tell them to go light on onions next time. Both times they added just the right amount of sauce ( not like some places that drown the sandwich. If you like a lot of sauce, you might request a little extra.) I've tried a number of their soups and all have been good. Years ago someone told me: if you want a good meal, find out where the police eat. This is probably the safest place in the city. LOL. There is generally one or two Raleigh officers or some state patrol officers there at lunch I haven't tried breakfast but plan to at some point. read more

This is the second time we ate at Wade Park Cafe (our dog is at NC Veterinary Hospital). The first time was for lunch, this time was breakfast. We returned because we knew we could count on getting great food and great service. The food both times were plentiful and fresh. It's evident that they use quality ingredients. The prices are very fair also. The owner is the chef and he cares about what he presents as his finished product. This morning I had the breakfast plate, good amount of eggs, bacon (you get sausage also but I opted out and they doubled the bacon without even asking), toast and a good amount of delicious, fresh cut fruit. His staff members are very cheery and helpful. Prices are very fair and the everything is clean with a nice atmosphere. They have homemade brownies, danish and muffins as well. Our lunches at our last visit were all delicious and well appointed. We all were starving when we got here and very satisfied when we left, due to the amount of food and the quality. I've been meaning to try Wade Cafe for awhile since it's near where I live and the photos on Yelp look pretty yummy. The cafe is tucked into a relatively new mixed use development, with a nice spacious dining area and plenty of outdoor seating. I ordered the cranberry gorgonzola salad with grilled chicken. It was a very generous sized, delicious salad with plenty of strawberries, cranberries, blueberries, walnuts and gorgonzola crumbles. The dressing was really good, though I see someone else posted that it is Ken's from a bottle. The only downfall was the chicken-- I peeked over the counter while they were making my salad and saw that it was precooked chicken strips out of a bag. They heated the chicken on a little grill, but it still had that very salty "off" taste you get when there are lots of added preservatives. My friend had a panini and corn chowder with (I think) shrimp. Anyway, she said both were very good. I will be back to try those tasty looking soups and sandwiches, and I would definitely order the cranberry gorgonzola salad again but without the chicken. read more

I work across the street from this Cafe and out of convenience decided to try it. First of all, the people that work here are without a doubt some of the nicest people I have ever met. They know me by name and are always so friendly when I come in. If any of them were having a bad day you would NEVER know it. Second, the food is outstanding. I've been here probably 25 times within the last year and have never left unsatisfied, regardless of how busy they are. Everything from the salads to the french dips and the soups are phenomenal, and always very fresh. Very basic, simple menu -- and very delicious. A colleague was staying at a nearby hotel and in an effort to escape the usual fare there we drove up to Wade Park. The breakfast menu is very basic -- some egg sandwiches/croissants/bagels and pastries, mostly. The friendly staff were very accommodating for my friend's vegetarianism and swapped bacon for avocado.
