My nephew recommended Auto Shop based on his Father-in-Law who had work done on his car. I had the car towed in without talking with them since they were closed. Sometimes you just have to roll the dice. I was at the shop at 8:15 Monday morning to talk to Scott and Amber. Scott was more than willing to look at it since he had worked on a Lotus or 2 in the past. Scott's diagnosis was internal tranny issues which was best dealt with by a specialist. While Scott was ultimately not able to repair the car his speedy response and excellent communication allowed me to quickly adjust my plans. He and Amber are a true class act. I felt a level of trust and confidence in them immediately. While breaking down 500 miles from home is not recommended for anyone i can't think of a better situation than to have Scott and Amber be the first mechanics you encounter. Give them a try. I was told that mechanically the car is in good shape. I was told that the heater was working and they didn't see anything wrong. They were clear that it could be a blend door going out on the vehicle, but confirmed that everything worked fine. Thinking I had bought some time I spent $800 dollars on brakes and to fix a window regulator. When I picked up the car, immediately upon starting the car I heard a loud knocking in the dash which stopped quickly but which I had never heard before. When I tried to move from heat to air the knocking occurred again and now I don't get any cold air. They've refused any accountability. I brought my car in for a specific problem, and on a budget of $1000 or less. Because they told me the problem I brought the car in for was fine, I spent the money to fix other issues, and received the car back with the same problem I brought it in for. Now they've quoted me $800 just for the labor to look into the original problem further. This was a lazy misdiagnosis. I understand I made the decision to proceed with other repairs. If I got the car back and the blend door broke a week or month later that's entirely on me. It was returned to me just as broken but I was lead to believe it was fine, which is why the decision was made to spend the money elsewhere. The whole process feels very dishonest or at the very least, they were not thorough in diagnosing the problem from the beginning. Edit: a 5 minute YouTube search on how to run a diagnostic for EATC issues in this vehicle, and error codes 024 and 025 were returned, which are for the blend door. The difference here is in saying you guys you tested it and everything worked, and it "could be" a blend door. Within 10 minutes of getting the vehicle home, I had confirmation that it was in fact the issue which was clearly diagnosed very easily at home. The first conversation was filled with what it could be, when a clear answer was available because the problem was never resolved, and the mechanic I trusted to provide an accurate diagnosis didn't do that correctly. This is why the initial diagnosis was either lazy or dishonest. Saying it works but it could be an issue down the road is one thing, and I'd happily accept all responsibility for that decision to authorize other repairs. They performed a full inspection and discovered that the tires I previously had installed were the wrong speed rating for my vehicle. They took the time to explain everything clearly and even walked me through how to address the issue with the previous shop. That level of honesty and helpfulness meant a lot. They also gave me an estimated repair time and ended up finishing sooner than expected, which was a huge relief with kids in tow. Everyone I interacted with was respectful, professional, and genuinely caring. I'm very grateful for their excellent service and would absolutely recommend them to anyone. Worst auto shop I have ever dealt with. I scheduled a 1:00 p.m. appointment for a basic inspection;…read morenot a walk-in, an actual prearranged appointment. When I arrived, I was told they were finishing another vehicle and that the wait would be approximately an hour and a half. That explanation makes no sense. The entire purpose of scheduling an appointment is to avoid sitting around for hours while the shop works through other vehicles. If they had no intention of honoring the appointment time, they should not have scheduled it. I waited the full hour and a half, and still nothing happened. I then gave them an additional 30 minutes, despite already being far more patient than this situation deserved. After waiting two full hours, I went to the front desk to express my frustration and was casually told it would be another 45 minutes to an hour. In other words, they expected me to wait nearly three hours for a simple inspection that had been scheduled for 1:00 p.m. This is not a minor delay. It is blatant disrespect for customers' time and a complete failure to manage appointments competently. There is no point in offering appointments if they are treated as meaningless.

I would consider exploring other options…read more Upon having our transmission rebuilt and rear main seal replaced by Gears we had an immediate oil leak from rear main seal (approximately 1 quart every 2 hours). Gears Transmission indicated they were not obligated to warranty rear main seal leak (in which they replaced). After 4 weeks of constant calls, broken promises to remedy, paying for repairs out of my pocket and pursuing legal action for reimbursement I finally received reimbursement for warranty work. To make matters worse, a broken bolt was discovered from seal install, meaning they broke a bolt and attempted to hide during installation. In addition, a loose bolt in transmission bell housing was also found. During transmission repair and warranty claim, Gears was horrible about providing updates; they only called/ returned our calls two times over this 9-week process. Granted, we travelled cross country day after receiving truck with rebuilt transmission and Gears had to use another shop to perform warranty repairs; however we had to take truck to 2 different shops of their choice so they could obtain multiple quotes and we ended up paying for repairs out of pocket after they reneged on paying their bill to vendor of their choice. Only after beginning legal proceedings did I receive reimbursement for main seal replacement.

In addition the service times takes way too long. I had a 12 noon appointment and my vehicle did not even get in the bay until 12:45. All they did was install two tires and do an alignment. That took over three hours. On my July 3rd visit it took six hours for those services. Had to wait an hour on that appointment time to get the vehicle in the bay. For the price I paid for those tires ($1,100 for two) one would think I'd better service. Not likely to ever buy Firestone tires again. High cost and bad service isn't a recipe for a successful business model.
