I've presented clocks to Phil Wadland several times in the last few years for repairs and have never been disappointed in him or his service. I had occasion today to present two clocks to him. One was a shelf clock that I purchased from him on one of my previous visits that has only recently become "cranky". As I expected, he requested that I leave it so he could take it apart for inspection to determine the cause of this behavior. I'm confident that he will come up with the correct diagnosis and treatment. The second clock is a nautical clock that is a recent acquisition from a "thrift store" that I had some questions about. Phil was not only able to answer every question concerning this clock, but was able to quickly return it to normal function so that I have a wonderful clock at a bargain price. His price for this service is a minimal amount to be added to the cost of the repair of the first clock. I have used Phil Wadland's clock repair many times. He is located pretty much right up the street from me. I collect post-Revolutionary War and Pre-Civil War first quarter of the 19th century. I don't recall how many times I've used his service, but Phil is really knowledgeable, and he does a Great Job! Every clock that I had repaired there is still running and problem free. I'm Thankful that Phil is so close to me. He has always been receptive of what my problem is and always available to help. I just picked up a Grandfather Clock dating from the 1700's and I'm just about ready to call him for help. His prices are reasonable and what more can I say but give him a try. read more

I found this clock repair shop on google and went by the reviews. I needed to have a clock movement fixed. Mr. Wadland guaranteed me that he could replace the exact piece. I am extremely disappointed that he was not totally honest with me. He replaced it with the best match but never told me. The good news is the clock works but the tone is lacking in the pitch and deepness of the original. You would have thought he would have been upfront about that. I blame myself for not checking the sound before I left the shop. Beware, being courteous to customers is not in Mr. Wadland's personality. Personally, I found Mr. Wadland rude and patronizing. He never made eye contact with me. As a matter of fact, I spoke to his back on both visits, drop off and pick up. Be prepared, he won't even let you fill out your own check! Some people resemble their pets...I happen to resemble my clock, Cuckoo. I recently inherited my grandmothers cuckoo clock which my mom happened to bring back from a European trip back in the 60's. Well, clocks are like lazy people...they don't like to get back to work. I found this repair shop using "Google to the rescue". Glad I found it. Dropped the clock off on a Friday and picked it up the following Sat. Nice! Price, well I thought $60 was a very fair price. Even though I'm quite mechanical, the thought of taking it apart freaked me out. After a thorough cleaning, some new hands and a bushing, she's back up and running. I've been listening to it chirp the half and full hours and with a little practice, I may be able to mimic the bird. Please help keep people like this in business. Even though the majority of clocks are digital-electric jobs, the old mechanical clocks with the Tic-Toc just have that certain pizzazz. With these types of clocks, a repair-cleaning shop is a must. I sent my cuckoo clock to him. It needed a new chain and the cuckoo was only playing one note rather than two. It came back with the music playing at least twice as fast as it had before, it played music on both the hour and half hour (should only be on the hour), the night silent feature no longer worked consistently, and the antique brass chains had been replaced with bright brass ones. He offered for me to send it back and he'd "fix those problems" but I couldn't see taking the chance. After all, while he had fixed one problem he introduced at least three more (the chain, he said, was not available in antique brass, so I won't really count that against him except that he didn't tell me). I asked for my money back, or at least part of it but he refused. I ended up sending the clock to WI and paying over $300 to get the problems fixed. read more

We have had Mr. Wadland repair two clocks for us recently. One is a modern Reglulator and the other is an antique Tall Clock without the original wooden works. We wanted both to keep good time and to utilize an electric mechanism. After Mr. Wadland replaced our failed Regulator electric mechanism with a new battery operated mechanism right in his shop while we waited, we knew we had the man to repair any other clock problem we might have. His fee, by the way, was very, reasonable. This week, I called to see when Mr Wadland could start work on our Tall Clock. Two hours later, we arrived at his shop with Clock in my pick-up truck bed encased in blankets. We expected to maybe get the clock back in a couple of weeks. Again, Mr Wadland asked if we could wait a bit and to our surprise, we left an hour later with our old clock finally again showing accurate time. His fee again was more than reasonable. Additionally, he provided us much interesting history about how original American tall clocks were made, ours by Abraham Edwards of Ashby, MA. We highly recommend Mr Wadland for any type of clock repair you might need. Our next trip over will be with our Banjo Clock to be cleaned & tuned to keep good time once again. read more
