This was delicious! I've been wanting to check this place out since I saw their opening day all over Instagram. The man working was super kind and explained how everything on the menu worked. We could order the curated classic and specialty with already designated ice cream and toppings. Otherwise you can select 2 or 3 toppings, drizzle, and ice cream flavor and make your own! I made my own with a gluten free waffle and caramel ice cream and pb cereal and caramel drizzle. The gluten free waffle was crispy and delicious! Loved all the toppings options. The PB lover specialty waffle was also delicious! They have a nice seating area as well as a instagrammable photo wall. I've been following Waffle Bar on Instagram for awhile and I finally couldn't resist going any longer. I saw a picture of the PB waffle and had to go. I went with a group and between us we tried the PB Waffle, Cookies and Cream Waffle, and Cookie Waffle. Portions are good and you get a large scoop of ice cream served in a waffle. My PB waffle had peanut butter ice cream topped with Reese's, caramel, and peanut butter cereal. The waffle was fresh and delicious but the reason I'm giving this place 3 stars is because my ice cream was really grainy and tasted horrible. I ended up throwing it away and it was really disappointing. The other ones tasted fine though and all the flavors complimented each other. They have a parking lot, there are a couple places to sit inside but not a whole lot. Each waffle costs around $8 but there is enough that you could share. There were other flavors and combos that sounded delicious, but I'm not sure If I'll go back. read more

With the weather finally heating up in the Twin Cities, I can only think of getting ice cream! Waffle Bar is pure simple joy when it comes to ice cream. I heard their lines can be long, but I could see why once you try how fresh the ice cream tastes. I also can't get away from their homemade bubble waffles. These Hong Kong style waffles are unique, fun, and a perfect combo to hold Sebastian Joe's ice cream. They've gotten really great reviews on Yelp. If you ever visit, or live here, you should definitely check out to see if the hype is real or not for yourself. After all, ice cream is practically a food group.... at least for me it is. read more

Check out this place from a friend's post and it was cool that it wasn't too far from our house so we could bike there without needing to drive. When we got to the waffle bar, there was a line and it took probably 15-20 minutes for our order to be ready. This is a hip new spot and like that they have a small patio seating outside. The waffle was made with little bubbles so it's called "bubble waffle". The waffle was not too crispy but soft with a crunch in each bite but if you get the waffle by itself it's way more crispier. The ice cream was creamy and the service was friendly. A bit overwhelming when it's your first time to the place. I feel it's a little pricy for individual items purchased separately. I got a cotton candy and waffles for my daughter and it was the same price as if we we're to get a waffle cotton candy cone which would have had ice cream. Overall, service was friendly but the wait can be daunting if you have little kiddos along. Parking can be a challenge as they have limited spaces in the lot. They have a nice selfie wall but the space inside can get crowded. Will check it out again when we are in the neighbor but we wouldn't make an effort since it's out of the way. read more

I asked to basically craft my own drink (mixing flavors on the menu) and the guy ringing me up wasn't sure it was something he could do, but he did it anyways. I ordered the 'Eye Candy' bubble waffle. It's vanilla ice cream with sprinkle, gummy bears, edible glitter, fruity pebbles, rock candy sucker and cotton candy! I actually got to pick the color of my cotton candy (pink or blue), which is cool. The ice cream comes from Sebastian Joe's, which is amazing! I love Sebastian Joe's! I also ordered a Peach-Strawberry slush. It was so good! Very refreshing, especially since the waffle makes my mouth a little dry. Lol. The space is kinda small, not a lot of seating (ice cream, isn't something you can really travel with in 90 degree weather) but good thing is that it is in uptown and they have some great street art along Lyndale you can check out! Really good treats, indifferent service. It not great to bring a seven year old to an ice cream shop that will not provide a sample of an ice cream flavor, have water available to patrons, or a public bathroom. The cone I ordered was fine, but with a different flavor ice cream than what was listed on the menu/board... I didn't bother telling them or having the item corrected because we just wanted to get out of there. After we finished our treats we left with sticky hands to look for a glass of water. This oreo ice cream is listed as Oreo Up on the menu which is included Oreo ice cream, crumbled Oreo cookies, and chocolate drizzle. They open for take out during the pandemic only. The bubble waffle is actually pretty good. I personally like how the waffle is made crispy outside but warm and soft inside. However, we found that there was a plastic string in the ice cream which is a no no for us. We brought the waffle back and they did say sorry and that the string comes from the ice cream basket which doesn't make sense to me. They also offered to make another new waffle for us. It is located right next to subway so parking isn't too bad. The waffle is made very nice so creativity: 3.5/5. Taste: 3/5, the ice cream isn't creamy and a little bit too sweet for me. Love their spin on chicken and waffles and it's perfect comfort food for the fall/winter. The sauce isn't spicy at all, more like "MN hot." The chicken tastes like Buffalo wild wings ! Sooo good! This is such a cute place!!! They specialize in bubble waffles instead of a waffle cone with ice cream and toppings. When we first pulled up it was in a small stop next to subway, and we almost missed it!! It's a small storefront with not a lot of parking, but it wasn't busy when we went so we got a great spot!! Walking in, we noticed a few employees hanging around and didn't immediately greet us, but we had some time to read the menu which was good as we had no idea what to order. The gal that took our order was very friendly and helpful in telling us the most popular items and being patient as we decided what we wanted. We ordered some of their cotton candy, one bag of each color, the banana nutella waffle and the s'mores one! They made the cotton candy on the spot, in a cotton candy machine!!!! It was amazing, as I really love cotton candy, and was so happy that they made it fresh even though they had a few bags already made. The waffle was tasty, sort of crunchy but went really well with the ice cream. The banana nutella came with vanilla ice cream, banana slices and nutella drizzle. I ate the whole thing and loved every bite! I'm not huge into waffle cones but the bubbles made it easier to break off and eat with the ice cream. My husband had the s'mores and thought it was delicious! He thought it was a little weird to have m&m's with s'mores ingredients but he liked it. They toasted the marshmallows which was a nice touch as well. For me the best part was the cotton candy, which I enjoyed for the rest of the night! We will definitely be back, and would reccomend anyone try this place if you like ice cream and waffles!! If you want to get icecream wasted, Waffle Bar is the spot! I got S'mores More and hubby got Eye Candy. I made a few substitutions to mine. I switched out the M&M's for Oreo cookies and added vanilla icecream instead of chocolate. It was so yummy! I loved the roasted marshmallows. This place is perfect for bringing out of town guests. The only thing is that there's only one scoop of icecream in the waffle cone. For $9 bucks, I think there should be at least 2. read more

Their dessert menu wasn't great so my friend and I decided to walk down to Waffle Bar. Win win, walk off some of the delicious bbq and get some yummy bubble waffles. This place is so cute! Very small, maybe seating 12-20 people max. They have a cute wall where you go to take pictures of you and your waffle! I ordered a bananutella and added strawberries to it. I love bubble waffles so was excited to get one full of ice cream! The presentation was nice, definitely photo worthy. Huge serving so share if you can. The whole place was ran by 1 guy when I went but he was very courteous and quick with my order! My biggest complaint is the ice cream they used. I'm not sure what kind it was but it had a very strong fake vanilla flavor that ruined the whole experience for me. Outside of that, it was great! Well I am not surprised, Minneapolis has always be extraordinarily creative with food. I recently visited Minneapolis(which was my home) and my sister took me to this place. I cannot emphasize enough, but this place serves the best bubble waffles. They go beyond butter and syrup with waffle toppings that wowed me!! I don't have them nearly enough, yet they're one of my favorite brunch foods. These bubble waffles weren't overtly sweet(just as I like them), crisp and SUPER DELICIOUS! What a cute little place! I was extremely fortunate to win a $50 gift card to this place, so it was very exciting to get to try it out! We had the strawberry dream (strawberry ice cream, strawberries, chocolate drizzle, and whipped cream), and Eye Candy (vanilla ice cream, fruity pebbles, rock candy, gummy bears, COTTON CANDY, and I believe some glitter!) They were both soooo good! I loved the strawberry ice cream, it had amazing flavor, and I thought the fruity pebbles were such a fun touch on the eye candy! eye Candy had enough going on that my daughter and I shared. Me and my wife have been here only once and we had a an amazing time!! This place offers great treats at a great place and at a fun place! This place is centered around waffles and ice cream. They put the two of them together to make some amazing flavor combinations! They have cookie ones, s'mores, fruit, and a lot of other options. I got the s'mores one and it comes with chocolate icecream, m&ms, marshmallows all wrapped up inside of a waffle. It tasted amazing, easy to eat, and was fun to eat as well! My wife got the banana, nutella, vanilla ice cream one and she more than enjoyed hers too. Besides these waffle icecream desserts they offer home made cotton candy that is to die for, shakes, flat waffles, and hot beverages. We can't wait to go back to try more! Overall if you like treats you can really indulge on this is the place to go. Everything we tried is amazing and it comes at a pretty decent price for the treats. Best part is the chili straw, so you can savour it last. I got the Smores one and let me just say, it definitely put me into a sugar coma after. So good!! Topped off with 3 large marshmallow and extra goodies on top of the ice cream. Im thinking maybe it's 2 small scoop or one large scoop. The bubble waffle must've been crisp when I got it but I took too long taking pictures . It was plain with very light sprinkles of powdered sugar. It was fun pulling off the bubble waffles - eeks! Not to mention their magical wall with 3D butterflies. So take a lot of pictures. Seating is minimal. 2 table of the 2 seaters and 2 bar tables for larger groups. There's 2 more tables outside if you want to enjoy the weather. Small parking lot out front, not bad. Also Subway is next door to it and also connected by one door inside. Treat yo self. This place has yummy treats! It was fun to try and they had quite a few combos to choose from for the waffle + ice cream menu (did not order any specialty drinks). You can't go wrong with Sebastian Joe's ice cream. Due to the price, I'd say it's not somewhere we would stop for ice cream often as we would normally just stop somewhere for a scoop, not a whole big dessert. I didn't think Captain crunch was a good topping choice. The flavor just didn't go well with the overall taste of the ice cream and waffle. The waffles here are totally unlike the crispy, crunchy, thin waffle cones you would get at your run of the mill ice cream parlor. The fresh egg waffles at Waffle Bar are delightfully fluffy, more custardy and sweet, and they also look like enormous bubble wrap (and just as fun). I liked being able to break off each bubble for the perfect bite. The ice cream and toppings shouldn't be forgotten either. They serve Sebastian Joe's ice cream, which we all know is amazing although I wish they'd offer more flavors here. In hindsight, it makes sense to not have any crazy flavors since they offer a variety of fun toppings anyways- from Oreo cookies, lychee jelly, and cotton candy. Their signature waffles are priced from $7.75-$8.75 with toppings extra. I'd say it isn't a bad deal considering the quality and size of the dessert. The only area of concern I have is the ambiance and decor. The music was BLARING and there was very limited seating despite the size of the place. They had one countertop long table and about 4 small tables with chairs and a bench. Definitely not a place for good conversation- more take it and go. The interior design is also a bit too kitschy for my taste, but that's just my personal opinion.
