Pecan waffle, hashbrowns, scrambled eggs w/cheese and sausage patties
    Alyssa S.

Stopped in for a quick breakfast. It's a typical Waffle House. Not a fine dining experience, a simple diner experience. I ordered a pecan waffle, eggs scrambled with cheese, sausage patties and hash browns smothered (that means cooked with onions). Everything is freshly prepared when you order and arrives piping hot. My food was great. The onions were finely diced and cooked very well within my hash browns. My pecans were evenly distributed throughout my waffle (I have been places where they dump the pecans right in the middle and that's it) so I was impressed. Our server was very polite and everything is reasonably priced. Overall it was a good spot for breakfast.

Decent food, for what it is. But dirty booth, and the employee swatting flies throughout our meal don't beckon me to return!

A 20% 'gratuity' is added onto the buffet (or any) order with 5 or more people. We have 3 children and most of the time a visiting friend with them. No one waits on us. No one gets our drinks. At the buffet, certainly no one is serving our food. Our bill quickly jumps from $80 to $100 ... for no service. Just like someone taking an order at the gas station and charging a gratuity because you are honored to be in their presence. Might as well to the gas station down the road if no one is waiting on you. It is average. Nothing special. The bathrooms should be cleaned daily.

The space is a former entertainment center that they transformed into a nice restaurant. They have rooms for parties and there's plenty of space between the tables. Service is always good as I think Chic-fil-A trains the staff. For this visit, I ordered the pancake platter, with scrambled eggs and sausage. When I saw the sausage I was a little taken aback because they looked like the pre-cooked kind. But they had a kick to them and were really good. They use real eggs, which is rare these days. I love it! Pancakes were huge and had a slightly sweet taste. They were good. Truly enjoyed my visit.

It tasted like a fluffy apple pie. Absolutely delicious! The maple donut had deep caramel notes with a nutty sweet maple glaze. It was incredibly delicious! They were efficient and fast! I LOVE Shipleys and we do not have one where we live so I was so excited to come and get a kolache and glazed donut. Granted it was 10am on a Sunday so a little late to be grabbing donuts (I didn't expect hot ones for sure) but they aren't suppose to close until 12 and you would have thought we walked in 1 minute before closing. The staff was extremely unhappy to be there and seemed annoyed with us even coming in, I even wanted a coffee and decided against it because I didn't want to get the feeling of inconveniencing them further... the chairs were all up on tables where you couldn't even sit down and they were out of almost everything (which again, later in the AM I would expect somewhat but past that the Do-Nuts looked and tasted gross. I have NEVER not finished a Shipley donut and I threw it away, unfinished. So not the way Shipley donuts normally are. They were dense, overcooked, greasy smelling and tasting. So disappointed.

However, I called for a reservation and at first asked for a table for 7. One more family member wanted to join, so I called and asked for 8. Was told no problem. However, no one wrote that down. Tried to seat our family outside in the blazing hot with mosquitos attacking my 2 year old nephew. We asked if we could sit inside. There was a table large enough. Was told it was for groups of 8. Well, that's what we had, but since no one had written the change to our reservation, it was an awkward wait to see if we could really sit there. Service was slow but we understood it was busy. When we were ordering, we were told by our waiter we weren't allowed to buy any additional sides. You only could get what part of a meal. We were ordering meals but wanted some extra sides of their side dish options. Was told this restaurant doesn't allow for that which is wild to me. When we asked to know how their baked potato salad was made/what was in it, our waiter (who said he'd worked there 4 years) could not tell us, but said he knew it was bad. We asked about the baked potato casserole, and his reply was it was "just a regular baked potato all mushed up". Clearly not selling us on either of those. Some people were setting up for a trivia night, and we had people coming to our table multiple times asking us if we were doing trivia. "No". Then a large group who apparently wanted our table just stood near; lurking and waiting for us to leave. ... My brother asked if they had a dessert menu. Our waiter didn't seem to know but went to ask and came back telling us "we do, but you'd have to wait another 20 minutes." What?!! We paid and left. We recently moved to Clinton and had heard some good things about this restaurant and decided to bring our family who was in from out of town, but what a horrible experience. From poor service, to rushed dining, to not allowing us to order items we actually wanted, I was simply blown away this was our first (and last) time to come here.
