Would have given 2 stars but the service was decent. Her name started with a D. Sorry I can't recall her name. She tried very hard to give us good service even though some big hefer she worked with was busting her balls. The same big hefer who used her teeth to open a bottle of hot sauce. So Gross. The food was Okay. No real butter for the waffle. Come on, your a waffle place, for God's sake get some butter. Your in the south. Use better pork products. The bacon was awful. 2 cooks on the grill. The one woman cook put a raw piece of chicken on the grill and proceeded to rinse her hands without soap and dry her hands by shaking the water off and wiping her hands on her dirty apron. She was a real charming one. No smiles. Obviously hates her job. The place could use a huge douche. Don't even get me started on the bathroom. I didn't want my granddaughter to use it. The big kicker was...They charge.10 cents for all carry outs. Are you kidding me? There was a couple next to us who placed a carry out and ended up paying 1.40 extra for his order. He was pissed. I too got a carry out grill cheese wrapped in foil and I to was charged.10 cents. Very low class. Needless to say when back in Cookeville we won't be eating there again EVER! read more

I am from California and walked into Waffle House craving waffles. My 2 adults kids and I on the great junk hunt on 127. I walked into Waffle House and was never said hello. 5 employees. Waited to be seated nothing. I then after waiting a few moments decided to sit down. Still nothing. After sometime I decided this was not for me. Employees rude! No greetings. Really where is your hospitality. How can 5 employees be having a bad day. Then I went to crackle and barrel. Thanks Waffle House. Very dirty. We waited forever and there were only a few people here and they were finished eating People who came in after us got their food so we asked twice about our food. Mine was cold when they finally brought it. She said they forgot my husbands eggs were scrambled so they left my food sitting and then forgot his scrambled eggs. We had to ask another waitress to help us get our food and she did. Then when mine came to the table cold i had to flag down the waitress to ask for some fresh food. I never got the waffle either. We asked for the manager but apparently there isn't one. We are traveling and couldn't wait any longer for the food. The waitress came back and told us my meal was taken off the bill. There were two cooks and three waitresses This place needs cleaning We wont stop here again. read more

Wish I could give 0 stars and I love Waffle House but this one sucks. Told me a 10 min wait but then messed up and took longer then when checking my order still didn't have it right. I had to wait for my last item to be prepared. The cook took a smoke break while this went on, must of been stressful messing up my order the first time. They almost just trashed my to go bacon because no one knew who it was for when it finished and then when I got back to my hotel with my order it's cold because it was ready first and it's wrong. They probably aren't qualified to fix it so I didn't reach out. They charge a 20% fee for all to-go orders, by the way. Probably best to just eat your own arm before stopping here. I used to enjoy coming to this Location, it's near my home and the food is always delicious and the staff is always friendly and just wonderful to be around...except for one of the servers. They have a server named Sarah Kay who has got to be the worst server I've ever encountered in all of my years dining at this location, she always reeks of Marijuana which I find to be very off-putting and she seemed to be high out of her mind almost every time I've come in, She constantly talks badly about people and other coworkers quite loudly so that myself and the other customers can hear it.....and some of the things I've heard her say about these people are absolutely disgusting and downright horrible, several times when I've pulled up I've seen her out in the parking lot smoking a Marijuana cigarette or doing something drug related. I will no longer dine at this location as long as this server is employed there and I will be taking my business to the new Algood Location which is a bit further of a drive but worth it if I no longer have to deal with this horrible server any longer and can enjoy a good peaceful meal like I used to. Waffle House corporate it's time for you to do the right thing and get rid of this server before she drives off more loyal customers. read more

I was at this place back in May and it was much better. So disappointed.. my over medium eggs weren't done well and all our breakfast including coffee was cold due to the air conditioning being down so low and blowing so much. So sad. This was our favorite place in May, won't be coming back only good thing was service, which was quick. read more

Waffle House is Waffle House..can't really say much more than that. Tony got the cheddar jalapeno biscuit with gravy and I also got a BLT...Tony drank milk and I drank hot tea.. Cheap and fast... We stop there because we can get in and out quickly. read more

We had a short wait here yesterday at lunchtime, because every table was full and they said they were short-staffed. But once we got our table, our visit was great. Our waitress, Jolene, was fantastic! She was friendly, welcoming, and helpful. The food was exactly as we ordered and delicious. Our only complaint was the tomatoes were a bit mushy. Other than that, it was a wonderful experience. We will 100% be back!! read more

We were out of town for a CrossFit seminar and our hotel breakfast was typical southern.... LOTS of white flour everywhere. Not exactly the CrossFit approved breakfast... So we went next door to Waffle House. I was skeptical. The waffle house in our hometown is kinda gross. My main issue with waffle house is usually the smoke, but I guess all of Cookeville restaurants were smoke free. When we walked in the place was packed, only room left at the bar. When the waitress walked over we asked her what she would recommend and she told us she didn't know since they just raised all the prices. I had to laugh, her honesty and sincerity was refreshing. I also loved that they had calorie counts on their menu. I seriously wish all restaurants would have this. It would save me a lot of regret and calories! I had the ham & cheese omelette on the first day, which was good. The eggs were really fluffy, which was great. We were in a hurry so we ran out the door satisfied. The next day we came back and I got the Eggs & Cheese combo with cinnamon raisin toast. I loved it. It was just enough to keep me full but not stuff me. Tasty too! If our waffle house was this clean and smoke free I think we would go more often. Great place. read more

We stopped here on our way from East Tennessee. February 27 about 3am. When we walked in, we were pleasantly greeted by a male and female server. The young man took our order and had to go get the grill cook/shift manager from his smoke break out back. The whole time he was complaining about the young man being lazy. I took notice of 'his"station being NASTY. His grill was filthy, the waffle irons were disgusting and everything else in his area, the cooking station was down right filthy. After he cooked our order and another table that walked in, he was back outside smoking again. I was trying disgusted with this man's actions and words. The young man who waited on us was one of the best servers we have ever had at Waffle House. He needs to be the shift manager. read more

The food is great ! The cook Joshua phenomenal ! The "server " I guess u could call her named Cassie wasnt worth a damn ! Our cook literally cooked and served us while all Cassie did was run her mouth, both with customers like it was social hour and at the cook degrading him and refusing to help . We enjoyed our food. No complaints there. The issue we has was our server llama didnt do her job. Litreally chatted the whole time with customers and the cook actually served us all of our food and got our condiments for us. She litrally told him bo when he asked for help. Wish we could just tup Joshua. Even the new shift change crew made a comment about her not working. They came in and started cleaning up everything she clearly didnt want to do. read more

Not a bad waffle house. Changed my normal order to the two egg breakfast so just minus the waffle from the All-Star. Also got sausage for the first time, not a huge fan. Eggs were a little inconsistent, and hashbrowns a tad bit overdone but other than that the food was goo and the service and friendliness were great. Very attentive staff. read more

This is a great place for breakfast. The grits, egg, sausage & cheese bowl is only $3! Amber is an excellent waitress very kind and quick. Also they have an awesome juke box with Tom Petty, Pearl Jam, Johnny Cash & the Black Keys on it! It's a great way to start the day! read more

I've been on the road for 11 hours. Stop her. Ordered hashbrowns which are cooked perfectly. But the best part was April. Friendly, courteous, smiled even though she was going to be up all night. We were impressed with the service at this Waffle House. Even at 5am the waitress was energetic, excited to take our order (maybe that's because we were the only ones in here) and wasted no time getting our order going. Expect great service here (at least with the morning shift) and the same poor quality Waffle House food. If you're going to stop in for a bite your best bet is for breakfast when waffles, eggs, toast and some damn good crispy bacon hit the grill. read more

I came for Waffle House. Average food and great service. You did not disappoint. Mushroom (a server) is hilarious.
