They were running on a very limited menu when we went the day before Thanksgiving. According to our waitress, "All our ovens are busy preparing for tomorrow." Normally, Cracker Barrel has a large menu, even with their recent cuts. You can find a whole meal's worth of whole foods. I recommend hard-boiled eggs, sweet potato, baked potato, side salad, fresh fruit, and steamed broccoli (which is not oily!). The country store is fun to browse and there are good products too. I have eggs, bacon and pancakes. They syrup is good - I don't use much so I had left over bottles to take home. Each time we've come the service has consistently gone down hill. We come here when we visit family because we used to know and trust Cracker Barrel but not anymore this was our final visit. With two toddlers we were seated fairly quickly and then we never saw anyone again. Servers walked by us, the host walked by us, nothing. After 15 minutes I got up to ask who our server was and the host went to check. He came to apologize and say someone would be right out. 5 more minutes and no one came. We got up to leave and suddenly a manager rushes over, oh I'm so sorry can we serve you? As my 3 year old is crying and we've been ignored for 20 minutes we chose to leave. No apologies. No let's make it right. Just we'd really like to serve you, yeah after 20 minutes of being ignored that's clearly not true. Told my wife we won't eat at Cracker Barrel again. Recently saw on google best fish and chips. Cracker Barrel was up on top. We decided to try it one more time. I was seated right away. The waitress came by soon and, I ordered coffee. Then the problems started. Minutes passed and the waitress did not reappear. In the meantime, I realized that I was not given a lunch menu. It was 11:00 AM. After more minutes of waiting, I got up and went to the front to procure the needed menu. Still more time passed, finally a manager type person asked if my server had been by. I said that she had but, that it had been sometime. The waitress came immediately with coffee and, I could tell she was mad. She did not check on me as she should have. When I requested a coffee refill, it took awhile. She then told me there were only 4 pots to go around among the servers. The biscuits were very good. The meatloaf and mashed potatoes were good but bland. Meal should have been warmer. Coffee was very good. I would have appreciated it, if she had brought water and a bread butter/jelly basket, if the coffee had not been available. Actually, the bread bread basket would be a good idea to offer all the time. Also, if coffee is unattainable immediately, offer a complimentary juice/soda until coffee is served. Food was amazing. Our waitress was really kind. I like that the restaurant is attached to a store, so when you are done eating, you can shop or browse. The pancakes were a little hard to cut, but still tasted great. The maple syrup was in really cute bottles that you could take home. The restaurant looked old which made the place look unique. I thought it was cool that while you are waiting for your food, you can play a puzzle game. I completely recommend this place and give it 10/10. Met a couple of old friends for Brunch. Noted that overall appeal of the Cracker Barrel has greatly diminished over the last few years. Our server (Lea Q) had to ask repeatedly as to who order what despite her 4 star apron embellishment. I requested a hamburger steak with eggs and potatoes. She returned saying the h'burger steak could not be served as breakfast but could be lunch. I said that is okay but was informed no eggs. Why? She said the manager Andrew said so. So I asked for greens - since it was lunch - but alas it was not yet lunch time for the sides but was for the hamburger steak. Grits it shall be when the available offering were read. Bad mistake. I would not feed them to an ex wife. I told Lea Q to update her resumé and I will say it here; with food, service & management as I experienced today the Cracker Barrel Old Country Store will not be around much longer. That is unless Dan Evins and his Uncle Hershel are resurrected and start getting it back to as it should be. And for Christ sake, make edible grits .... It's the south ya'll !! read more

Side of soft scrambled eggs and hash browns were fine. Nothing stellar but very inexpensive relative to other places. Our server was very attentive with checking in and tea refills. Ok so we get on the list & after an hour & 10 minutes we go up to check to see where we were as far as time line & we were told only 6 more in front of us. Our waitress was not the most pleasant , our food was not cooked like we ordered but we didn't send it back for we had already wasted almost 2 hours traveling time in this restaurant & we just wanted to get out! Well it's bothered me through the night. It was bad this time. From the cold raw meatloaf to the microwaved burning hot replacement items. The mashed potatoes were so lumpy and hard, it just wasn't worth eating. I specifically asked for a bowl of greens and was brought a 1/2 cup serving. When this was brought to the waitresses attention I then received beans. No syrup for pancakes until the check was brought. What tipped the scales is when the mgmt. seemed offended that I wanted to return the meatloaf. Hands down the worst meal the three of us have ever had at our local CB. BTW still tipped the waitress and have the receipt if anyone is interested. read more

Absolutely miserable experience. Came in for breakfast, but didn't get seated until after lunch. Put in our names after being told there would be a 45 minute wait and they would text us. We got the initial welcome text then An hour and forty minutes later we asked if we were ever going to be seated. They then proceeded to basically say it was our fault because "they called us" but we never got the text saying the table was ready and we even showed the phone to prove it , but they continued to be defensive and unapologetic. They then made us wait an additional 15 minutes before we finally got a table, seating at least another 4-5 parties ahead of us. One older server apologized and said she'd tell the manager, but either she forgot, or he couldn't be bothered. @$$ awful customer service. I couldn't even tell you what the food was like , I was so pissed the rest of the time I was there, except they were out of one of the dinners we ordered. It happens, and That usually wouldn't have bothered me if the customer service hadn't been so horrendous already. Also, the fire alarm went off almost immediately after we got our food. We finally left at 1:20pm, over three hours after we first put in our names at 10:17. If this mess had been in a sitcom, it would've been funny , but If I could give this zero stars I would. read more

We always stop at this CB on the way to Knoxville. Only problem is the past two times (Fridays). Good food and service was excellent both times - thanks Tanner. The issue both trips is that the stall area in the men's restroom has been disgustingly filthy. Worse than any roadside gas station I'd ever seen. I understand a ton of people go through there every day and some people are pigs but does no one check for cleanliness or supplies throughout out the day? Hoping management will address this, I brought it up one trip with no action taken that I could tell for the 2nd time. read more

After 35 minutes, the server did not check on us, refill drinks, or bring out our food. It's a shame since we usually have a good experience at CB. We live in a part of the country where there are few Cracker Barrels, so when we travel we've always enjoyed eating at their locations. Always clean, always good service, always good food. But the Cracker Barrel in Cookeville, TN, was a disappointment. The food was mediocre at best: * Fried Chicken: over-cooked to the point of being armor-plated. * Country Fried Steak: over-cooked, and part of it tasted burnt. * Mashed Potatoes: cold. * Carrots: so over-cooked that they had the consistency of baby food. * Sweet Corn: Pretty good. * Hash Brown Casserole: Tasty; texture was pretty inconsistent but interesting. * Corn Bread: Good flavor, but very dry. One of us wanted a glass of wine, but the wine selection was typical for this section of the country -- one label, and not a very good one. Our friend ordered it anyway -- but ID was in our RV. No ID? Sorry, no wine for you, even if you're in your late 60's with snow-white hair and you haven't been carded in 40 years. No wine? Well, OK. Ordered a bottle of root beer instead. But they were out of that. No root beer? Then a glass of water, please. That they could manage to provide. One of us had iced tea. The promised refill never came, despite asking twice, though we could see our server standing around in the kitchen, chatting with co-workers. Whatever the topic, it must have been more important than the customers. On the plus side: This Cracker Barrel is one of the many with some clearly marked Bus/RV parking spaces, and one of the many that will allow an RV traveler to park overnight there for one night. We telephoned ahead for permission to park overnight, and re-verified permission when we arrived. However, we were lucky to be able to park our RV at all. 4 of these 5 of these spaces, clearly signed "BUS AND RV PARKING ONLY," were full of cars, and half those cars apparently belonged to employees who didn't leave until the restaurant had been closed for more than an hour. We understand that it's difficult to ask a customer to move their car on the chance an RV customer (or a tour bus carrying 40 paying customers) might arrive. But allowing EMPLOYEES to park there? Simply poor management. If this were the only Cracker Barrel we'd ever visited, we would never go to one again. We do hope that the rest of the Cracker Barrel chain hasn't gone as far downhill a this one. But when we consider having a meal at Cracker Barrel in the future, we'll be sure to read the reviews first. read more
