Would not recommend this waffle house to my worst enemy. To start, they gave us our water in dirty cups. then when we received the first half of our cold food, we couldn't eat it because we had no utensils. after waiting about 10 minutes for our waitress who continuously ignored us, despite making eye contact whenever we called for her, we had to get up and grab our own plastic utensils from the front of the restaurant. when we finally recieved the second half of our food, our waffles, they were not whole. like they were literally missing chunks. it tasted fine tho. 2/10

This is the closest location in the DMV. It's small but they really get you in and out. Downside is that it gets so crowded on the weekends and every time we come we almost always have a wait to be seated. Good thing is that it isn't a typically long wait.

It's not a meal at The Waffle House unless a waffle is involved.

I had a decent experience at this Waffle House. My experience was more or less on par with other Waffle Houses (primarily in Hampton Roads, VA), which has been good, that I have visited over the years. Our waitress, Tammy, was pretty good with taking our orders and following up with us. Our food came out pretty fast, and it was everything that we expected. I wonder if this is a super popular Waffle House location in the Dumfries area. When we arrived around 11 am on a weekday, we were a bit surprised that pretty much all of the seats were occupied. Fortunately, for us, we managed to grab the last booth so we did not have to wait for seat. During our next road trip, we hope to visit this location again...especially since it's the closest one to us (even though it's about 30 miles away).

This is always a staple whenever we travel down the southern coast. This is basically fast food comfort food. There is limited seating but we were able to get a few seats at the counter which is totally fine with me. Service was excellent and our orders came out with minutes. It was borderline amazing. And the food wasn't just sitting around pre-made; I watched them prepare everything. Everything is fresh, waffles are very good and the price point can't be beat. Just remember to get some onions, peppers (which are jalapeño... my kid found out the hard way) or cheese and you have an excellent breakfast during your drive.

This was actually a second visit to this particular Waffle House; we were disappointed that the indoor dining doesn't open until 6 AM, considering it's open for 24 hours. I'm thinking it's because the chain is trying to avoid all the craziness that occurs during certain hours! Waffle House offers breakfast plates, hashbrown bowls, waffles, biscuits, breakfast sandwiches, Texas melts, sandwiches, burgers, and eve lunch/dinner options. We ordered: +the Two Egg Breakfast - eggs with toast, jelly, and a side of hashbrowns or grits; the hubs opted for scrambled eggs with hashbrowns +built-your-own hashbrowns - I had it 'smothered' (sauteed with onions) and 'double covered'(with melted cheese), adding in jalapenos; the cheese was a bit coagulated, and both the onions and the diced jalapenos were just super minimal; edges of the hashbrowns were crispy, but could have been more crispy overall, as I did request this to be extra crispy There is a separate order and a pick-up window; orders took about 15 minutes, and the staff is pretty good in recognizing you/your vehicle if you're waiting for your order. Don't forget to request ketchup and/or hot sauce; these come in individual packs. Plenty of parking. +order and pick-up windows available +indoor dining doesn't begin until 6 AM +parking available

This Waffle House is located on Route 234 in Dumfries, VA - right off I-95. It's the closest Waffle House to where I live - the next closet Waffle Houses to Haymarket are Fredericksburg, VA and Charles Town, WV... I stopped in for a late breakfast. As others have noted - this is not the cleanest place. I sat at the counter area - on the left hand side - which is lower than the rest of the counter seats. I ordered coffee, plus a Sausage, egg, and cheese bowl over hash browns, and a side of bacon. The food took about 15 minutes to come up - the bowl came up first. BUT - the bowl they delivered to me was not what I ordered. The bowl I was given had bacon in it - not the sausage I ordered. But I was so hungry - that I did not want to wait another 15 minutes for them to correctly remake my order. The hash browns on top were crispy - but the potatoes farther down were a little on the gummy side - they needed to be crispier. I asked for hot sauce and ketchup - the only hot sauce they have is Tabasco sauce - so I added some of that, salt and pepper, and ketchup to the bowl. Overall, a tasty bowl, even made incorrectly. They had music playing through the overhead speakers - that was turned up so loud - I had to speak very loudly to my server. I then asked if they could reduce the volume. I was told apologetically - that they could not turn it down - as no one could find the remote. I almost left - it was really loud. Eventually someone managed to turn the music off about halfway through my meal. I was done eating the bowl by the time the side of bacon arrived. Service was average. Paid with Apple Pay, tipped in cash. #WaffleHouse

This is the closest Waffle House location to Washington DC. This has always been my go-to location for the convenience. However, the quality of the food, the cleanliness, and the customer service can be hit or miss depending on who's working that shift. Wait times can be elevated, tables can be sticky, and servers can be unintentive and rude. However, my most recent visit was for a to-go order, which took a bit, but it wasn't too bad. The food was typical. I always expect more from this location, as I'm sure they're making money from all of the people who are traveling on the interstate, as well as those who are from the Washington DC area looking for that Waffle House, the traditional Waffle House experience.

Clean & Friendly. I stop at this particular Waffle House every two weeks when I come to visit my grand kids. There is normally a long line and a packed house. But I never wait too long for my carry out order. The staff is so friendly and "Twist" is an absolute joy to interact with. I've never had to return anything, EVERYTHING has been perfect for me each time I go. The food is good the grits are seasoned perfectly. This Waffle House reminds me why I miss them so much when I moved more north!

It came with two slices of French toast with just the right touch of spices, home fries, and homemade sausage patties (way better than the greasy commercial ones!). I also ordered a plain latte, which was excellent. No notes. My mom (who is 82 and VERY particular) ordered the "Uncle Richard" plate that came with two eggs, choice of meat (ham), home fries, and choice of pancakes or French toast (she chose pancakes). She also reported everything was delicious. ("Although I would rather have hash browns." Sigh. It's always something, ain't it?) She also ordered plain coffee. For someone who does not like to deviate from DD Keurig coffee, she thought the coffee was "Very good!" Widewater Grille gets its Cuban beans directly from Key West. Mom also reported the Women's Restroom was very nice. So there's that for your consideration. We will definitely be going back. Mom (who hates leaving the house these days) even called a friend on the way home and said the three of us need to go together soon. THAT is a better rating than Michelin could even dream of giving.

What a fantastic surprise!…read more My fiancé and I were in town visiting friends and originally planned to go to Waffle House for breakfast, but the wait was crazy. My brother, who lives in the Stafford area and is a serious foodie, recommended Widewater Grill. Honestly, it's the kind of place you could easily drive right past without realizing what you're missing. We are so glad we stopped. I had Uncle Richard's Breakfast with eggs, green peppers and onions, bacon, home-fried potatoes, and French toast. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and cooked exactly right. The home fries tasted truly homemade, which is harder to find than you'd think. The coffee was excellent, served in a real mug, and I loved being able to refill it myself. My fiancé ordered the 12-ounce strip steak cooked medium, and he hasn't stopped talking about it. He said it was cooked perfectly, which is something even many chain restaurants struggle to get right. What really stood out was the atmosphere. The service was friendly, welcoming, and attentive. The restaurant has that local, family-run feel that immediately makes you comfortable. As a retired Marine family, we also appreciated the Marine Corps traditions and military pride displayed throughout the restaurant. Great food, great service, great conversation, and a genuinely welcoming atmosphere. We'll absolutely be back the next time we're in the area. Highly recommend!

Quick Google, and Montclair Family Restaurant popped up basically a stone's throw away. Sold. Pulled in and the lot was full, cars circling for spots. Honestly that's usually a great sign for a breakfast spot but a rough sign for actually parking. We were about to give up and go around the block when somebody backed out right in front of us. Walked in and there were two tables left in the whole place. We felt like we'd used up a week of luck before 10am. Black coffee for me, water for her, nothing fancy. But the coffee was genuinely excellent, which I don't take for granted at a family restaurant. A lot of places treat coffee like an afterthought and this one clearly doesn't. I saw a Greek omelette on the menu and had never had one, so that decision made itself. My fiancée went with the pancake tacos, which neither of us had ever seen anywhere before. My omelette came out and it was eggcellent. The real star was the tzatziki, which was one of the best I've had anywhere, not just at breakfast. My one honest gripe is the home fries showed up cold. But I dumped some of that tzatziki on them and suddenly the temperature stopped being a problem. Then there's the pancake tacos. Absolutely to die for. Picture a fancy McGriddle with a lot more going on and a lot more food. My fiancée is normally very generous about sharing, and this time I got exactly one bite before she made it clear that's all I'm getting. Jealous of her order for the second time this weekend. We will be returning for dinner next time we are in town!

She managed to get out the word "drinks," then couldn't understand Diet Coke and unsweet iced tea. After that we sat there about 20 minutes until a different waitress finally noticed us, apologized, and took our order. Food took a long time and was very overpriced for what we got. The waitress who started our order then walked out to the parking lot without saying a word. We were ignored after that until another server came by to refill drinks and then disappeared to the other side of the restaurant. We just wanted the check so we could leave. I finally had to get up and stand at the front. One guy walked right past me, ignored me, then came back a couple minutes later and sent me to a register. The guy at the register sent me back to the first guy. They then had a disagreement right in front of me. Eventually the waitress who had taken over our table came over with a handheld machine so I could tap to pay and get out. Never again.

Every time we asked for something--even something as simple as a larger table for our party--the answer was immediately "no." It always felt like we were inconveniencing her, and there was never any effort to accommodate reasonable requests. The biggest issue came when our steaks were not cooked as ordered. Instead of apologizing or offering a solution, Teka responded, "We only have two chefs working, and if you want them remade, it will take a long time." Rather than showing empathy, she came across as argumentative whenever we had questions or concerns. Her facial expressions and body language made it clear that she was annoyed every time we asked for anything. No customer should feel unwelcome or like they're bothering their server for making reasonable requests. We understand that restaurants can be busy and short-staffed, but that's never an excuse for poor customer service. We hope management addresses this, because the service we received completely overshadowed what should have been an enjoyable dining experience.
