Breakfast at Waffle House is always an interesting and memorable experience with its own vibe. So, when I find myself in vicinity of a Waffle House, I try to stop in for breakfast. On this particular visit the service was excellent; the waitress was friendly, attentive and she checked in on us throughout our meal to make sure we were well caffeinated and taken care of. The food was good and plated/served quickly. Notable was the bacon; it was was hot and juicy (my preference) as opposed to overcooked, dry, cold, and crunchy. The biscuits and gravy were considerably better than most that I've had in restaurants (I set a high bar for biscuits and gravy), the eggs and hash browns were average. Came in this morning, not very busy we were immediately sat. Multiple workers walking around just day dreaming. Have trash and the previous tables dishes piled in front of us. Been sitting for 20 minutes and haven't even as much had a server glance our way let alone ask if we'd like anything to drink. 1st thing if Bre if Bre is your server just walk out. She had a nasty attitude while I was ordering and after. I don't know what was the problem but she needed to leave and not work there. She has a nasty attitude. Spoke with Scott (so called manager) and he refused to give me her name I said well the name is on the badge. Then he said he would talk to her. That 10% tip rule shouldn't be given to her with that nasty attitude. She knows she will get a 10% regardless and have a nasty attitude. 2nd while taking my order she didn't say nothing about sitting at the back after getting my order. After she received payment and I sat back down at the bar she asked me to move to the back cause the bar was for dine in customer. There was 2 gentlemen who walked in when she asked but they went to the booth. She also said please move from the bar it's my section with an attitude. With an attitude after payment was received and tip put into my bill. That's why the tip shouldn't be added. Bre needs to be fired and don't need to work with the public at waffle. In Greenville this place is one of the only establishments open after 10pm (on this side of town). Unlike many impostors Waffle House matters. The staff is always nice here and they have put up with my loud and laughing friends on multiple occasions. Suggestions for Waffle House beginners order hash browns with a variety of toppings; I suggest something like chunked, capped, and smothered. The service here is what I expect from a WH. A faaaar cry from the less than satisfactory service I received at the S. Memorial location. I was seated quickly, served my coffee within 5 mins on a Friday morning (a little busy). The waitress (Dazzy) was courteous and not overbearing. Attentive without being annoying. Prices are decent. Food was very good and served approx 10 mins after coffee. My only gripe would be that it was cold in there. The outside temp was about 64 and overcast at 10am. Not hot enough to warrant the air being set so low. Other than that, good service, clean establishment, no loud music. I will definitely come again. read more

Yes! I came here during exam week, I came here after prom, I looove it soo much. Waffle House: don't knock it until you try it. I've been warned about it, but when I first came here I realized that it isn't pretentious for a reason. I do like how you can see your food being made right in front of you, which may disgust a few people but adds to the transparency. At least you know what you're getting. The bacon is super good, salty, but super good. I haven't even had their waffles yet but usually eat the eggs, cheese, bacon on Texas toast with extra bacon every time I go there. It's great, fast, and uber cheap. You'll also find a cacophony of characters there especially late at night. read more

I don't normally review chain restaurants, mostly because I don't eat at them, but I have to say I was fairly impressed with this place. It was clean and they run a tight ship. Everyone was so friendly and I was greeted immediately as I came in. This was a nice welcome to Greenville. The food and portions were generous and tasty and the prices were very affordable. I felt welcomed and comfortable eating here. Say yes to the waffles with pecans and don't shy away from the peanut butter either! Hashbrowns with add ins were delicious. The five stars are for the sheer enjoyment and experience of the waffle house. When you walk in, "Welcome to the Waffle House" greets you from every employee. That always intimidates me. We sat at the counter, I looked at the menu, and it looked like greek to me. But in the end, I got a bowl of grits, Peppered hash browns, and a pecan waffle. Whaaaaa? I have never had a stranger meal in my life! Then I experienced "waffle talk". This is when the waitresses take your order, then stand to the side of the cook, and shout some kind of strange southern wonderful language at the cook, who then repeats it back to them. I asked if he remembers it, and no he doesn't, he cheats. The place was wonderfully disgusting. It looked as if it hadn't been cleaned in fifty years! Come to think of it, the décor hadn't been updated in fifty years either. My grits weren't absolutely terrible, just not great...I could only eat a couple of spoonfuls. One of the waitresses found out this was one of my first times to eat grits, and she said most Northerners like their grits with jam. I tried strawberry jam, and they still did nothing for me. My pecan waffle seemed to be still not 100% cooked in the middle, and the hash browns were very, very spicy. If you try any of their hash browns, get the smallest size you can get. My friend got the biggest order all the way or something like that, and he couldnt finish that off. It was a meal of itself. Everyone warned me of the indigestion that would follow, and sure enough, it hit me. If it were anywhere else that I was eating this would be a one star review, but the waffle house is a magical land everyone must visit once in their life. Came here around 3 pm, so not prime business hours. Didn't get drinks until food came, had to ask again for coffee. Didn't have straws. Food looked like shit and cook obviously didn't know the menu, nor did the server. First off, I LOVE WAFFLE HOUSE!!! At any given time, any given day, I can go in, no matter how I look, and I can order a grilled cheese with tomatoes and chili and not be judged on my food choices. Yes, they cater to breakfast food, but that's irrelevant to my palette. The food is cooked timely, the waitresses are realistic (meaning they are not cheerleading happy while taking my order), and the place relatively clean. I had a hole leaking in my to-go cup and it was such a hard time trying to simply get a replacement and never did end up getting one. A small to-go sweet tea... How hard is it to replace that y'all?
