Where else can you go at 2am on a Tuesday to get the greasy craving in your body fulfilled- Waffle House, derrrrr. Hashbrowns so crispy, CheeseSteak Sandwich w/ onions so greasy and yum to my tum that even Philly gives it a nod. Who in the earth forgets about Waffle House as an option? Apparently I do until early this morning when I was clocking out. I really wanted beef, craving it. I called in my order as I was preparing my last minute work duties. Only mins later it is finished and ready for pick up as I arrive. One girl was mopping, one patron was enjoying the scene, one cook got it done fast (the eggs were so bad its not to be mentioned)(but the sandwich and hash were dynamite after one bite). Cashier/Waitress made a little small talk and off I went. Friendly Staff/Clean Establishment/Plenty of Parking/Right in the center of Bojangles and Spinx. Eat here then take a visitors tour of BMW. You'll need to walk it off. Yep I would order from here again.

The Clock has been here for over forty years. Longer than most marriages. Longer, certainly, than…read morethe one my parents had, which lasted closer to thirty years and ended, according to my father, because of a disagreement about a sectional sofa. I think about that sometimes. I think about it now, pulling into the parking lot, because there is something about a place that has simply endured that feels like a rebuke to everything that hasn't. Inside, locals from near and nearer move through the dining room, shaking hands with people who have been eating here for years. Years. I can't keep a houseplant alive for six months, and these people have been coming back, reliably, to this same place, to order the same food, for years. Chili cheeseburger after chili cheeseburger that creates a sense of togetherness and, at times, heart attacks. There's something almost painful about that kind of loyalty. Or maybe I'm just projecting. I find myself staring at the alternating layers of patty, chili, cheese, and I think onions for a moment before eating, the way you might stare at a word you've written too many times until it stops looking like a word. It is good. It is genuinely, embarrassingly good, in the way that things are good when they have not been overthought. And it was delicious in spite of health value. If you're eating at The Clock for health value, I direct you to the salads with prejudice. The menu runs from salads, to tacos, to hot dogs to a meat and three (or for those in Greer, a meat and four), which is not a range you encounter often in a single establishment. It is the culinary equivalent of a man who says he can fix anything. You are skeptical, and then you watch him fix the thing, and you don't know whether to be impressed or slightly ashamed of your own limitations. Ask anyone around town and they'll tell you about roller skating car hops, late night gatherings after high school games, real ice cream milkshakes. Nobody tells you stories like that about a place they didn't love. They're not telling you about the food. They're telling you about who they were when they ate it. I order the sweet tea. It arrives cold and correct. I'm certain my dentist has a handshake agreement with Jimmy that both will keep each other in business a long time. I will come back here, but not as often as I should. We all have our faults. The Clock has few.

Atmosphere & Ambience…read more Peggy's Diner #2 embraces a retro charm, with an unironic 70s-80s vibe that feels both nostalgic and lived-in. The dining area is open, and diners seat themselves--adding to the laid-back, come-as-you-are feel. The atmosphere is relaxed and family-friendly, drawing a steady crowd of locals and retirees. Televisions quietly play the local news, blending into the background without being disruptive. ‍ Service The service at Peggy's Diner #2 is warm and attentive. The waitress was quick to bring coffee and water, setting a comfortable and unhurried pace for the meal. Staff greet locals by name and engage in easy conversation, creating a neighborly atmosphere reminiscent of a barber shop or a bench on the town square. It's the kind of place where regulars feel known and newcomers feel welcome. Food & Drinks The coffee came out quickly in a generous, no-nonsense mug--just what you'd expect from a place like this. It's a classic cup: reliable, familiar, and ready to refill. For breakfast, the two eggs over medium were cooked just right--simple and satisfying. The fried fish was the clear highlight: golden, crisp, and flaky, it was prepared perfectly and ranks among the best I've had. It's consistently good here, a true standout. The grits were creamy and comforting, served in the traditional Southern style. A biscuit came on the side--soft and familiar, a nice addition even if not especially memorable. Value for Money The portions were generous, and at just $9 for the plate, it felt like a steal. For the quality--especially the perfectly fried fish and classic Southern sides--it's an exceptionally reasonable price. Peggy's Diner #2 delivers real value without cutting corners. I'll definitely be back. If you're looking for a hearty, home-cooked meal that tastes like something grandma would've made, this is your spot.

Visiting some family in the Greenville area, we were just looking for a quick local lunch place…read morethat serves simple favorites like burgers and hot dogs. We found this place near by, and this is definitely the definition of a local dive. I mean that in a good way though, they're serving their community with good food at a good price. It won't blow you away, but you definitely are going to be happy with what you got. We did take out, a couple people ordered hot dogs, there was one bacon cheeseburger, and one club sandwich. Sides ranged from fries, onion rings, and fried okra. One thing I will definitely say, that was some DELICIOUS fried okra. Dip that in a little ranch dressing? For the win. The hot dogs were good, not great. I get spoiled by some truly remarkable hot dogs back home with buttered and grilled buns, so anything less than that will be hard to win. The chili was good, apparently in SC, a loaded hot dog is chili, mustard, onions. When I asked to add cole slaw (all the way in NC) the guy looked at me puzzled and said "... you want it like... on top?" Yes. Yes i do. I can't be the very first person to ask for that. Anyway. It's not much to look at, but it's the epitome of a locally owned business that will fill your belly if you just don't feel like cooking, but also don't want to be fancy. We'd go back.
