This location still allows done in options as well as to go while many of the Waffle Houses ONLY have a pick up window after a certain hour. Granted it was very packed, bustling with the usual suspects after other establishments were closed, BUT, we only had to wait like 5 minutes for a couple of seats to open up. Our server happily cleaned the seats at the bar and took our drink order! It took a little while beyond that to take our order as we must have arrived at the tail-end of the first wave of diners... And it filled right back up, but the cook and servers were pumping out the orders! I've heard many stories about the various late-night shenanigans that take place at Waffle House, as well as how good the food is. Seeing as it's a cornerstone of the southern experience, there's no way I was going to pass up the opportunity to try some. My dad, brother, grandpa, and I piled into the car and drove over to the closest location, which happened to be in Mount Pleasant. As we pulled into the parking lot, it seemed that everyone else in the area also decided that Waffle House would make for a good New Year's Eve breakfast: almost every seat in the restaurant was full, and we had to wait about ten minutes for a table to free up. The atmosphere of this Waffle House was very lively and welcoming. There was music playing on a jukebox, people were crammed into booths chatting with their families, and the employees working at the grill were singing happy birthday to someone that walked in. Additionally, the service was quick and our waitress was friendly. Immaculate vibes. Aside from the vibes, the food was great, with humongous portion at a low price. I ordered the All-Star Special, which came with a waffle (add pecans) scrambled eggs, bacon, grits, and toast. This food could easily be shared between two people; I unfortunately wasn't able to conquer this plate. The waffle was pillowy and dense, with the pecans adding a sweet nutty flavor. Their hardness also added a nice difference in texture. The eggs were firm. The bacon was slightly crispy (as time went on, it got crunchier), salty, and greasy. So good. The grits reminded me a lot of polenta. They were buttery and creamy, but didn't really have any flavor aside from that. From the couple of bites of toast I had, it was well-toasted (crunchy but not fall-apart crunchy). To reiterate, this was a great breakfast. If you find yourself struck with insatiable hunger, or just want to eat some great waffles, make your way on over to Waffle House in Mount Pleasant! read more

We were going to another high dollar local place across the street when my son and I both said, well you can't beat Waffle House!! There were four of us visiting the Charleston, SC, area, and we came here for breakfast on Sunday morning. Even though the parking lot is big and isn't shared by any other businesses, I got the last open space as we drove up. We walked in and took note of the two other groups waiting ahead of us, since the employees looked extremely busy and probably didn't notice the order in which groups of people arrived. All of the booths were occupied, and almost all of the counter stools and chairs were taken. All of the employees wore face masks, but some of the customers waiting did not wear them. Plexiglass barriers were attached to the backs of the booths, but, other than that, it was up to the customers to social distance. The four of us have been fully vaccinated, so we felt a little more comfortable being around people we didn't know. The employee who bussed tables started off kind of slow, because there were four booths and some counter spaces from which customers had left, and he didn't get to them quickly, even though there was a line of waiting customers. He finally stepped up his game. After he cleared and cleaned up a table he would look towards all the customers waiting and wave his hand to no one in particular. Whichever group was next went to the table, and I didn't see anyone in disagreement during this time. The four of us were given a booth at the end of the row, so we only had only one adjoining booth near us. Our server at first was all business, taking our our orders efficiently and confirmed our orders just to make sure she wrote down everything correctly, which she did. Food was brought out in the order that they were done, so all of the food was brought to us piping hot. Our server was great at updating us on our food coming out, and made sure that water and coffee cups were refilled constantly. She was funny too, making us laugh while quickly chit chatting with us every time she came to our table. Our group got the following: 1) waffle, ham, sunny side up eggs, toast and hash browns, 2) hash brown bowl with hash browns, sausage, cheese, scrambled eggs, cheese and jalapenos, 3) hash brown bowl with hash browns, sausage, cheese, over easy eggs and jalapenos, and 4) hash brown bowl with hash browns, sausage, extra sausage, cheese, scrambled eggs and gravy. Everything was so delicious and were perfectly cooked as orders. I loved that the hash browns were crispy on the edges, and the gravy had a nice sausage flavor. Everyone walked away with full tummies, as we all got big portions. Overall, this was a very good dining experience. Our server taking the time to tell us "Thank you, and have a blessed day!" as we were leaving our table was a great start to our morning! read more

I've been getting Waffle House breakfast about once a week for a bit and the last two times, it's been awful. Last time, my hash browns were so burned I couldn't eat them. This morning, my food was not done on time and then it was like it was then rushed. My bacon and eggs were not cooked completely. Had to throw most of it away as well as the money spent. I love Waffle House! Been going to them since I was in college, way back in the day. This location serves us well, with the good food you want for early morning, or late at night after some bar drinking. This is where you can get your hash browns smothered, covered and more. I personally like the waffle, but it has to be HOT off the griddle. Yes, I even ask for it that way. Then I usually enjoy an omelette with cheese and ham. They can cook it anyway with what ever you want, that is listed. The menu has many other offerings, but we keep it simple. This is not a fancy place, so don't get all snooty expecting "brunch and a mimosa", it's down home food. The service is usually good, they love what they do and will chat with you too. I can't say I am really a fan of this Waffle House; mainly due to crappy service and food. We out and about last weekend and the wife was craving a waffle; but it was a little late in the day for brunch, so we headed to Waffle House. We really wish we had just went to the grocery store and got some Ego Frozen Waffles to have avoided such a disaster that is this Waffle House. We walked in and were not really greeted; it wasn't that busy and the staff saw us walking in. We took a booth and the first thing I noticed is that it wasn't that clean. The server came over and gave us a monotone welcome and asked my wife what she wanted to drink and then walked away; am I invisible I thought. She came back and got my drink order and asked my wife what she wanted to drink again. Time passed and she came back with our drinks and took our order. That was the last we saw of her until she came over with the bill; another employee brought out our food. Both of our drinks were almost empty when we got our food and the employee that brought the food to the table hurried off without asking if we needed refills and the server never came back to refill our waters and coffees. I would certainly classify this as crappy customer service. The food we ordered was pretty much disappointing as well. I ordered a cheeseburger with hashbrowns; the burger was burnt and the hashbrowns undercooked. My wife had a waffle that had the consistency of a rubber tire. All in all this was possibly one of the worst dining choices we could have made in the area; and I am pretty sure we will not return. read more

This was my first Waffle House experience and I felt very welcomed! I ordered a waffle, bacon, eggs, and hash browns with jalapeños and sautéed onions. The waffle was soft and delicious. Honestly 1 star is too much for this place. I keep giving this place a chance because it's the only Waffle House in Mount Pleasant. A lot of the workers have nasty attitudes and the cooks are horrible. Either you get under cooked food, cold food, burnt food, incorrect orders, or food that is soaked in grease. If they mess up your order and you nicely ask it to be fixed they catch an attitude. If you ask it to be taken off the check they don't. So you're stuck eating horrible food. The waffle house is an institution. Some of the people that go there later at night may also be part of an instition....so seriously, the Waffle house is just a good place for me all together. I like sitting and talking with the cooks while they make my breakfast. Pretty much everyone is hospitable and the food is consistent. You can get any food any time of the day, breakfast for dinner or vise versa! Oh, and there's a jute box just in case you wana rock out during breakfast???? Seriously, I like this place, except on weekends when you can't get a seat. I've been to my fair share of Waffle Houses and this one is great. The service on my latest visit is what prompted me to write this review. Not only was the wait shorter than expected, the hostess and waitress went out of their way to ensure everything was taken care of. Water spills, cleaned up in seconds because of the sheer proximity of the staff and attention to detail! Forgotten hashbrowns taken off the bill, I was so full from my peanut butter waffle I didn't even remember I'd ordered them. Yes that's right, peanut butter waffle- a delicious waffle sprinkled with peanut butter chips. My 3 y/o was in heaven. Crispy bacon. He didn't even mind that they didn't have his usual pancakes! The eggs over easy and grits were great, too. And the best part is they're not marked up to high heaven! The parking can be a real PIA here, but if you're patient, the parking lot spots turn over, too. Breakfast can be a real battle on the weekends, so I recommend waiting here and experiencing the hometown feel of the Waffle House!
