This was my first time at a Waffle House and I wasn't expecting much. There was plenty of parking. We came here around 7PM on a Sunday evening and there was no one here. All tables were clean with menus already set up on the table. The waitress was extremely nice. She really made our experience here the five star that I gave it. She was attentive to not only us, the adults, but also our toddler. She walked us through the menu and gave us really good suggestions. The food was definitely better than I expected. Her recommendations were top notch! She even went out of her way to give my toddler a Waffle House hat and gave us two extras as souvenirs since she knew we were not from around here. Service was above and beyond. The waitress went out of her way to find crayons for my son to color with, we didn't even ask! Staff was incredibly fast, helpful and efficient. I have always loved Waffle House since I started driving by myself, going to work for the first time and attending Indiana University Southeast. No matter what state I have lived in, Waffle House has always been there for an inexpensive quality breakfast or lunch. This Plainfield location has handled Covid well. If they can adapt and keep their dining room open anybody can but unfortunately too many don't make the effort and close their dining rooms. No matter how busy the grill person is, I am always amazed at how quickly they can complete your order for one person. If you are group of four, it's still fast and only a couple of minutes longer. The kids always get their waffles and they *are* good. I think their cheeseburgers are better than any chain fast food place with a drive thru. They all have the same grill, except BK, but Waffle House's just taste better to me. And I love their hash browns and I like to experiment with how I order them. Don't forget you can get your hash browns 256 different ways :-) But breakfast is my favorite thing to order here. I don't think anyone can do it better or faster. I don't know, maybe I'm biased because I've been a patron for so long. Also, I always tip way more here than anywhere else percentage wise. A meal is so inexpensive, the percentage needs to be higher to give your server a decent tip and feel good about it. read more

I was excited to see the Waffle House sign and wanted breakfast. I had the two egg breakfast with sausage and hash browns. I also had a side order of grits. My guest had the All-Star Breakfast with hash browns, sausage and a waffle. Our server Bub did an outstanding job and kept my unsweetened tea glass full. Our food was great, actually. Typical Waffle House fare. I had the bacon, egg, and cheese Texas toast melt with a chocolate chip waffle. My egg wasn't runny, but besides that everything was really good. Our server, on the other hand, stood around. Didn't buss the tables (almost all of them in the restaurant were dirty at that point). Keeping up my families unofficial tradition of going to Waffle House on Martin Luther king day. It's one of the few mornings when we don't have to get somewhere and can enjoy a leisurely breakfast. While the house is small and compact which they did a good job of spreading customers out during the pandemic. Your not coming here for ambiance unless you derive pleasure from watching the cooks make tons of waffles which you can do as it's an open food prep area. We ordered our meals with a great waitress and our food was done fairly quickly. I have always been impressed by the food at WH. The grits in particular are perfect and there are not a lot of good grits choices in Indy. You'll also leave full as even the smallest breakfast includes eggs, meat, toast, grits or has browns. Great place to eat great food severs were great came in sat down drinks came out. They were down two cooks so the server said it might take a little longer then usual. We was in no hurry so it was not a big deal for us as we are patient people it is 11:30 pm the restaurant still had 25 people fairly busy for this time of night. The cook was the only one wearing gloves while he was cooking did not see the other two wearing any . the kitchen looked clean as there was no debris on the floor employee shirts were not tucked in they all had hats on. Smooth running I think for only three people working. Aprons was on by the severs but not the cook the two girls had long hair I feel like they needed hair nets on because of helping prepare food. Our food did come out in waves tho lol waited 15 min just for the waffles. Next was the sausage then the rest lol. But they were understaffed and I was ok with that food was good I believe. As it was all waffle houses, this particular food chain is an acquired taste, and a cult following. I belong to that cult, and when I travel in a southerly direction and see a waffle house, I must stop at one at least one time a day I always get the same thing Ribeye the potatoes well done two eggs on top of the potatoes, sunny side up and a Diet Coke. One of the better Waffle Houses around! We typically come on Sunday mornings and the staff is always pleasant and the food is always good. This location is still relatively new and clean. Not all greased down like some older locations you walk into and almost slide across the floor :) To keep it short, if your looking for a good, quick, cheap breakfast this is the place to go. A little upset this morning. Double checked website to ensure location was open (updated 8 days ago) so my soldiers and I had somewhere to eat after transporting others to the airport this morning. We get there and the worker had written a note and placed on the door saying they were closed til 6am. Now, this was the second one we went to because the first was open but didn't have sit in dining until later and recommended this location. So I have been a customer for many years and I go to my regular place and my I say...these new hires thinks I'm there for them or something?? I had a 19 year girl explain to me how eggs are cooked...really? So if you want to learn they have great teachers but customer service? They have no clue?? I go to this Waffle House 5 days out of 7. Love the customer service and always open if staffing provides. Willing to go above and beyond for the customers. love the personalities. Thank you for the Waffle House service. They do close due to short staffing (I.E. no cook or servers having to leave early). A lot of job have seen shortages but they do try to please there customers and are open if they have the resources. Can't make excuses for rude servers but if there is no cook on duty surely the full job can't be done and can see why they need to close despite having a 24 hour dining experience. If they are closed it's only for a short period of time and I would highly recommend over the other Waffle Houses in the Indianapolis/Plainfield/Avon area. Definitely better than Emerson/Southport which is closer to me. I got a sandwich here instead of driving to the one closer to my residence just because of the cooking quality (and this was at 8:15AM on a Saturday which isn't my normal time I usually go). Again it's Waffle House, not expecting exquisite food.But here's the issue the cook (TYLER) on several times was handling RAW MEAT with no gloves, then would go over and grab plates to plates customers food.
