Heck yea I recommend Waffle House. This one is called Platte City, but kinda it's the very very very outskirts of Kansas City. Here's the situation: Have to stay at airport in Kansas City for work. NOTHING, I mean NOTHING, is near the airport. It's ghost town. Work, is at Ft Leavenworth in Kansas right across the river. Work, sometimes runs until 10pm or later. Nothing in Ft Leavenworth is open that late, and again, NOTHING is near the airport hotel. So what is one to do? Gotta eat, right? MF'n Waffle House. My Walker stayed fat and my gut got fatter! How perfect! Open 24/7, so doesn't matter where I'm staying or how late I'm staying there, this place will be there for me (for you). Look at my pic! Eggs cooked to order, bacon, cheese, hashbrowns, waffles ... any day, everyday, I'll eat this. This was my first time at a Waffle House and I loved it! The food was delicious and you get a lot of it for a good price in my opinion. The waffle didn't even need syrup, which is a huge win in my opinion. The bacon was nice and crispy too! Saturday late night service is the WORST. Two teenage girls "working" and spending more time chatting it up with friends vs serving customers. We asked for water and were told we'd have to "wait and get over it because we only have two servers." Place wasn't busy, they were just distracted and lazy. So we asked just for water again and were asked to leave because apparently asking for water a second time ( after patiently waiting 15 min) is rude. Management should review their cameras at night. If sales are down, bet I can tell ya why. Best remind your "servers" that their friends should not come in during their shift if they are going to forget about the paying customers. Wow one of the cleanest Waffle houses around! They were wiping things down... no condiments in the tables.. keeping the tables and glass containers verrrry clean. Our waitress had worked here for 30 yrs and was definatly grandmotherd in!! I tried something different today- the Texas Bacon egg & cheese melt on Texas toast. The spot wasn't anything special, but had great servers who cracked jokes and helped politely answer questions! Some friends and I stopped here after heading back from a Chiefs game. It was my first time ever at a Waffle House and I know there's a certain hype about it. The food is really bang for your buck (especially the All-Star combo, SHEESH). All of my buddies got different hashbrown bowls but they were all really good. A friend of mine recommended asking for gravy on top of it and it was a game changer. On our way down to the Kansas City International airport when we stopped at Platte City for breakfast. We don't have Waffle houses in Omaha. We arrived early morning so no problem with seating. I like Waffle House, but this location has really rude and lazy employees. I am walking in saying hello loud, no one is greeted me, it wouldn't be an issue at all, I don't need to be greeted. But, I do expect to be served in any restaurant. Well it didn't happened in this Waffle House location in Platte City. I would understand if they would have been busy, but at the time there was only a family was waiting for a to go order. Actually both of the employees were so busy they didn't have time to come to me, to take my order, or just say something like, "be right there" or something you would expect. One of the employees were preparing food, the other one was so busy playing with the family's kids there. After 12 minutes of wait, I decided to get a burger from Sonic across the street. Yes, this Waffle House deserves the one star, actually it supposed to be 0 for the 0 service. I don't how long it would take them to take my order, so I didn't wait longer than 12 minutes. Shame that a chain like this can allow employees to operate like this, maybe they don't know about it, hope they find out. I usually visited Waffle House on the south east, and my experience with Waffle House was always good, specially with the kind and nice employees. Maybe this is just a Midwest thing, I don't know. I just took my family to this Waffle House and this was the worse service I have ever received at any restaurant. We waited around for like 10 minutes after a the waitress wiped down a table. No one talked to us until we asked to sit down, then when we asked for help the manager disrespectfully said wait I get to you and waved her hand like we were a fly or something. Warning! They allow smoking here. Let me say right off, that I'm generally a Waffle House fan. Having lived in Georgia, and traveled all over the South for work, the WH sign is like a welcoming little beacon. Plus, occassionally, you just can't beat a good, greasy breakfast. The waitresses in the Platte City WH are johnny-on-the-spot. The food is what you'd expect a Waffle House and since moving to town a few months ago, I've visited and enjoyed several weekend and early morning breakfasts. In the year 2012, I had no idea that any restaurant would even consider letting people smoke inside...and if they do, most folks are considerate enough to recognize that lighting up at a table, in close quarters while people are trying to eat is just flat out rude. Well, this Waffle House does have a "smoking section", which in a place as small as it is, means the whole building is a smoking section. Today some idiot decided it would be great to have a cigarette with his breakfast. I smelled him walk in behind me (the way chain smokers smell) and that was bad enough, but then he decided to light up. I didn't even finish my breakfast because it was just so overwhelming and disgusting. Now I've arrived home to realize that even though I'd just taken a shower, my hair smells like an ashtray. Even though I'd just washed my coat, it smells like I spent all night in a smokey bar, and even though my clothes were clean when I went for breakfast, they all now reek as well. Gross, gross, gross. Horrible way to start a Sunday. There are places I go where I expect to encounter smoking and don't usually complain about it. However, breakfast on Sunday morning is not one of those places and sadly, I probably won't be returning to the PC Waffle House. read more

Coming from Chicago, I was blissfully unaware of the stigma that surrounds Waffle House. I love waffles so to me waffles + 24 hours = GENIUS. Has a full menu with clearly stated prices, ask for full menu. Usually "favorites" menu is at table. To-go orders are fast but automatically charge 10% for convenience. Still not unreasonable. However, being that I bleed customer service, and I critique it in every possible situation, I have to give a big ol' five star review to this particular WH. Today I was that person. The one who had to patronize an open restaurant on Christmas Day. The one who felt like a jerk all day because I didn't want those people to have to be there working. The one who assumed I'd have spit in my food. I was SO wrong. Before we even got into the restaurant, an employee outside (no, not smoking) greeted us and asked how our Christmas was going. When we went inside, we were greeted by the rest of the staff and made small chit chat during our meal. The food was good. It's not going to knock your socks off, so if you are looking for a gastropub, keep looking. But it was fresh-tasting, quickly served, and just good. During the meal the cook passed by and made sure everything was up to snuff and the server and cook thanked us on our way out. It was nothing that moved mountains.
