Tried the great bogo medium sub with free drink deal they offer on saturdays. The deal may only be in the app, I'm not sure. We Tried the meatball on wheat bread. It was tasty, but could've used more cheese and maybe not toasted so much so that the cheese kind of just disappeared. A side of sauce would be great to dip it. The place is always dirty. There's never a clean table and the carry-out bag always has greasy fingerprints on it. The sandwiches are subpar and they ALWAYS smother them with sauce, you can't even taste the meat. The place is gross. I'll go to Jason's Deli a block away. read more

Flavor is great. Problem is it is mostly bread anymore. Very little meat. I just ordered a New York steamer and it's more bread than anything. I have to give this place props on how nice and professional the staff is! I previously visited this location and at one point a regular (I presume) walked in and everyone greeted him kindly. Today the individual who took my order was very kind, helpful, and efficient. I'm a fan of the Spicy Cajun Chicken sandwich (pretty good heat to it!). This location has gone down hill. It's kinda dirty and every time I have gone I have to go to the bathroom few times next day!! Not good! I have friends that have said the same thing! We love the Italian here. As far as sub shops go, this is one of my favorites; for some reason I like a freshly toasted sub, with fresh cut meats. I've worked in the area for four years now, driven past it almost daily, and never walked inside. The main reason, I have to admit, is that the location is somewhat inaccessible and anonymous from inside the shopping area. Having that said, I am happy I went inside. Firehouse Subs has a unique positioning in the market, differentiating itself from the two major competitors by focusing on more meat heavy sandwiches. The price point, unfortunately, is positioned thereafter. Having that said, a chain such as this should really be judged by the location and service provided as that's the only way they can differentiate themselves in the area. I went during the busy lunch hour. The place was packed to the brim with every table being occupied. This is good as it gives a good opportunity to judge whether quality goes down with added workload. I ordered a large Engineer Sub with all the standard fixings. It did take about 5 minutes for it to come out, during which time I took the opportunity to scout for a seat. It is true what previous reviewers have said that cleaning the tables isn't exactly their #1 priority. Somehow that is understandable during lunch hour. The sandwich was well prepared, nicely cut, and not sloppy at all. It tasted fresh and they brought it to the table for me, with a smile. Having that said. Staff is very friendly and pleasant to deal with. One issue is I order online and sometimes app says it's like 40 minutes until order will be ready which isn't always the case. You call in and they may make it faster if they can. Issue I have is I hate pickles with a passion. I got a pickle on my sandwich that to me personally totally runs the entire meal as I really really hate them. The subs from Firehouse were done on time and everything was perfect with one exception...(thus the four stars) We requested whole wheat subs and got white, which to some is no big deal, but it is what I requested so... Great sandwhich shop! They have a nice selection of subs away from the standard Subways of the world, and their brisket sub is one of the best I've had from a chain. Having had Planet Sub (lost it's luster) and Subway (almost everything will start tasting the same after awhile), this place is a welcome departure, and their real flavor comes through in the sandwhiches. Never had a bad experience there, and the food is good enough to keep me returning. So we walk in, order and take a seat. As we're waiting an employee walks in around 10:30 and wasn't supposed to work until noon. Not the case. Wasn't very clear where we ordered at after we walked in. We ordered the Firehouse steak and cheese. It tasted ok. Cashier asked if we wanted mushrooms on it or without them. We got them on the sandwich, surprise Up charge. Now I'm ok with things costing a little extra. However, it was not told to us nor was it on the menu. Then it took almost 10-15 minutes to get our food, others came in and got theirs before us. Overall food was OK, service was lacking and pricing was decent but not transparent. While waiting over 10 minutes for my food, I had the displeasure of watching him not change his gloves a single time(who knows how long he's had them on), while wiping sweat off his forehead, grab a pen out of his pocket and write on a receipt. Handling multiple orders, dropping veggies on the counter and picking them up to add them back to the sandwich. Again, not cleaning the counter between orders. The way he cleaned the knife, wipe it off with his dirty gloved hand. Sadly he wasn't the only employee not changing his gloves.
