What can I say. It's the Waffle House. It's a thing and my hubby likes it. Super friendly server and a unique table set up with the tables directly next to the long 'kitchen' where they can service your table from the kitchen. It's open late which is great for those late night cravings or airport arrivals. So there is that. I'm not in love with the food but everything was cooked properly. We love this Waffle House. And love all the employees except 1. They always make our food exactly perfectly. The place is as clean as a Waffle House usually is. Now the problem- the heavy set waitress. She's miserable and it shows. I'm heavy set so don't think I'm being nasty. I just don't know her name. I can't for the life of me figure out why she has a job with customers as I don't see her ever being nice to customers. We've even seen her be rude to coworkers. I think she works the bar part primarily and the booths to the left of the bar. We will wait an hour before we sit in her section ever again,, when you make tips miss lady , you need to be nice, attentive and at least smile a lil bit. Came in this location this weekend for a late breakfast. I felt kinda bad for the staff cause there were more people pouring in the doors then there were leaving. Thankfully my husband and I were ordering take out so we didn't have to wait long for what we wanted. It probably took about five minutes to get through the line to take my order. My order took about 15 to 20 minutes to make and get out the door. I would consider that as pretty quick considering everything else that was going on. Not so great server today. Clint was not on his game. Asked for Cheese and eggs with raisen toast, waffle. Ate that plate and waited on waffle. Never came. Had to ask for it. Coffee. Had one refill of coffee. Never received Splenda with second cup of coffee but never received cream with first or second cup. The Waffle House. Why am I never here when the sun is up? Why am I drawn to this unsightly shrine to the pancake's arch nemesis? Could it be the cigarette-infused coffee grounds? Or perhaps the syrup-coated tiles that grip your sneakers with every step? I'll never find the answers to these lingering questions. And yet I continue to ask them... Maybe that's apart of the charm that the Waffle House so subtly boasts. They hide nothing. Even the worker's apathy is transparent. It is almost a challenge as to who can care less... A constant battle between myself and the entire third-shift staff of the Waffle House. I know I am winning, as even the Waffle House workers care enough about their health to abstain from the loaded hash browns. The more transparent the Waffle House is, the more mysterious it becomes. I see the workers smoking outside, almost in a way to guarantee authenticity of this particular location. I see the chef one-handedly prepare my over-easy eggs to perfection, not even bothering to use his other hand that has made its home in the backside of his stained trousers. And yet, I am still in a state of awe, with my thoughts running faster than the trucker who decided to dine and dash. Why am I here? What is that smell? Can I get some more coffee? Every meal comes with a side order of existential dread and a fashionable hat, if you are brave enough to request one. I have never felt more at peace with myself than at the Waffle House. Well, we came in for a birthday, Our order was for takeout and then we had one more person order their food after so we were waiting so everybody was very nice sweet calm answered our questions and my friend that I was with her waffle got cold so we asked, a gentleman named Landon did they have a microwave? He said no so he turned around to one of the coworkers and asked politely hey could you make a extra waffle so the lady, starts going off on him so I told Landon I said it's OK because it's a problem, so the lady turned around to us, starts talking to us loud and I said where is the manager and she said I am the third shift manager, we looked at her like it wasn't that serious if you couldn't make another waffle that's fine. Don't yell at employee because I'm sure that he didn't know or the customer so she continue talking and was like well. It was our fault that the waffle got cold. We never go to Waffle House. They are usually dirty and dated, and have personal issues with dirty resturaunts. However, today I REALLY wanted some good hashbrowns, and we are told they have the best. We came in fairly early, and it was clear that it's a popular breakfast spot. We picked an open table, and within minutes Norah greated us and took our drink orders. She was so sweet and pleasant. She passed our drink order to our actual server, "The Jerky Lady" Cheryl ( I believe was her name), and she brought them over. She took our order, smiling while I asked my silly questions regarding how sauteed the onions are, etc.... she assured me she would have them cooked to my liking. She delivered too!! We had a wonderful hot breakfast, everything was ON POINT. Even the grits were cooked perfectly. I was shocked how good everything was, especially because Waffle House carries such a stigma. Anyways, looked up Waffle House on Yelp, there were a lot around us and closer to us but we went with the one that had better ratings and reviews even though it was a bit of a further drive. The place itself is fairly small, way smaller than Denny's or IHOP's. It was like an old fashioned style place, the menus are already placed on the tables and you just seat yourself anywhere that's open. I just wanted to try one thing...the WAFFLES! It's called Waffle House so Imma get the waffles! A waffle is only $3.00 and it is the size of a regular plate, which is pretty big. If you want a flavor (strawberry, chocolate chips, peanut butter, blueberry) or with pecans, it is $3.50. I got the pecan waffle and my husband got the blueberry waffles. Waffles were great! They have a nice fluffy texture inside with a bit of a crunch on the outside. Pecans went well with it and it was not overly sweet even with the syrup on top. Our waitress was really nice and helpful to us, we told her we were not from here and she told us what was popular. I also got hot chocolate, and the only thing I didn't like that everything was refillable except the hot chocolate. I think I was just expecting it to be since Denny's and IHOP's does it. I like this location off of Ridge Road and I-30. I find that the service is generally friendly and very accommodating. I would hope that management has something to do with that because it's been pretty consistent over the years. I must admit I have only eaten breakfast here though I vow to try a lunch/dinner plate in the future...so I'll update this once I do. Definitely recommend the waffles...uh duh...I know but these waffles are usually served nice and light with some fluffiness on them. I do not like hard, crunchy waffles. More specifically, I'd recommend the pecan variety. I like the Fiesta Toddle House omelet, hold the yolk. I order my hash browns smothered and peppers ( if you don't know...i love jalapenos!). On a whim, I choose to go away from the waffle and I went with the biscuits for the first time today. They are a well-received balance in terms of not too hard, not too soft. Not fluffy but not flat. Now I prefer a fluffy and layered biscuit but they come in all textures and grades depending on the maker. These were a good compromise perhaps no matter where you feel within the spectrum. And they put a nice grill on it which gives it a nice, hot and crispy outer finish. I tried the regular and the jalapeno cheddar. Both nice options. And I love that they have Texas Toast!!!!!!!!!!!! Good coffee. Serves Sara Lee pies, though I haven't had the pleasure. I would probably choose WH over other fast food chains for home-style breakfast. I mean if I am in a rush, I can call ahead. Their breakfast sandwich is my go-to (bacon, egg white and cheese with a side of hash-browns), pretty bomb to me and is ready in a jiffy. She was all over the place, saying things i couldn't really understand or hear.
