Waffle House has become an iconic presence on the culinary landscape here in the southeastern United States. It seems that their familiar logo beckons in all of its bright yellow neon glory road-weary travelers, partying college kids, parents with kids in tow, hungry workers seeking a casual and quick sit-down meal and just about everyone else from every walk of life. Since Waffle House opened its first location back on September 5, 1955 in Avondale Estates, Georgia, it quickly established itself by offering a consistent selection of food and by being open twenty-four hours a day. For me, the biggest appeal of Waffle House has always been their hash browns, which you can get basic or topped with a variety of toppings such as chili, white sausage gravy, cheese, ham, onions and so many more items and you can combine these toppings in a multitude of ways. For my main course, I have usually gone with their patty melts or one of their egg breakfast options. I myself can see the strangeness that I have never had a waffle in a business where waffle is in their very name, but I prefer a more savory breakfast than a sweet one. This particular location is just off of the highway, so that makes it a convenient stop. The service was friendly enough. Parking was a bit tight. If you are in the southeast United States, odds are you have probably passed a Waffle House location. It seems that they are on almost every major highway exit ramp and strategically placed throughout most cities and towns in the southeast. If you see one, give them a try. read more

I also wanted a hot beverage aside from coffee and Amy suggested hot tea for me though it was not on the menu. One of the more interesting times at WH. Over the years I've been served raw bacon cause she forgot to cook to today the entire staff arguing about a co-worker being 1.5 hours late. I'll take part of the blame due to arriving at 3:00pm evidently at shift change. Upon arrival greeted with loud arguing. To place my order I had to interrupt . Promptly ordered my favorite grilled chicken sand with diet coke. Had to go back to counter and get my drink. Order came later and arguing continues. Had to go to counter for refills. Food was as good as it normally is. While expectations from WH staff is never high this was all time low. But...I'll be back read more

Today , my fiancé and I were traveling through Satsuma, Alabama and decided to stop at their local Waffle House ! As we go in to grab our table , we were not greeted . It took about 5 minutes before the GRILL OP brought us our drinks . Fast forward 10 more minutes , we are still waiting for our server to come to the table FOR THE FIRST TIME as she just played on her phone at the register ! So after 20 minutes of no server , we decided to leave and the server told us to have a great day !!! read more

I always love visiting Waffle House when I'm in the South. This one is no exception. Unlike previous visits, the employees at this location seem to know a lot more about proper restaurant hospitality. I was actually asked how my food was, I wasn't shoved the bill in my face within 3 minutes of getting my order, and everyone was polite, courteous, and properly dressed for work. The restaurant was clean, although the bathroom could've used some sweeping. And I don't think I can really rate stars on this, but I'm totally tickled by Alabama accents, which is another perk of this particular location. read more

Well, some things are so predictable! Waffle House, 2:30 p.m., no other diners, table and everything else sticky, whole place not too clean, staff sniping about the person who called in sick, then going after each other to the point that you aren't sure you might not be caught in the crossfire. The food was . We asked for crisp bacon and it was not the toast was barely toasted and soggy due to the glob of butter the eggs were runny The cheese grits were good. The music was so loud that the staff were yelling over it. I asked if they could turn it down but they said the sound was stuck on high. They wait staff is so friendly. She worked with us and tried to make our brunch as stress free as possible even though we had four kids with us. As we approached the entrance, a nice lady opened the door and greeted us with a cheery smile. Then we entered and was greeted by everyone! We noticed it was all ladies working. We sat down at the bar seats and was greeted by Andrea. She is an amazing waitress! She's friendly, she's efficient, and she's quick. Her smile lights up the room too.
