The food was great! I appreciate being able to order a side of avacado for my baby. However, any establishment that asks for a tip should try to offer service. I ordered a drip coffee and had to wait for the cashier to finish wrapping silverware to get it. Half the party was served about 20 min ahead of the rest, which is long enough for food to get cold and frustration to set in. There weren't napkins readily available and I was instructed to go to the bathroom to get paper towels to clean up my infant during the meal. We opted for the outside to get a view of the Capitol and covid precautions because there were a good amount of people inside. Masks required of course. I got the chicken and waffles however they had ran out of the gravy. The waffle was soft and the chicken was tender. Perfectly breaded too. I wish we could've tried the gravy. I also got the mocha with almond milk. Second option because they ran out of the white chocolate mocha. The mocha was a good alternative. I've been gluten free since I was 11 years old, and the gf waffle they put in front of me was reminiscent of the very first gf bread I ever tried. A reheated frozen solid brick that was dusty with no flavor. I had two bites and didn't finish. My boyfriend got a regular waffle and also didn't finish it, so I don't think they're really that good either way. Love this place. We always try and make a stop when we're in town. Convenient location near the Capitol. Service is excellent and the staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. This visit was during the 2020 Covid outbreak so we did take out. Online ordering was easy. I think the menu was decreased a little which makes sense, but we found things we wanted. Waffle me strawberry, S'more waffle, and OB Deluxe. We grabbed our meals and headed to Julia Davis park for a waffle picnic on a beautiful 70 degree day. I was SO excited to find out they could make Vegan Waffles here! I know, you're probably thinking gross, but I have a dairy allergy, so it's hard to find Waffles with no dairy. I was sad that my first waffle turned out to be a bad one though. My bf, who loves sweets, would not take more than the first bite from it because it was so bad. The inside of the waffle seemed like it was not cooked and crumbled when we tried to cut a piece off. Even the maple syrup and strawberry syrup couldn't save it. Before I get to the intricacies of taste, ambiance, and service--let us simply take a moment of silence to reverently pause in admiration and wonder at a restaurant completely dedicated to the waffle... ...ahhhhh....waffles... Waffle Me Up serves up liège waffles aka Belgian pearl sugar waffles. They're a yeast leavened waffle, topped (prior to cooking) with pearl sugar, which gives the waffles a lovely sweetness and crunchy exterior (while the interior is soft and wonderful). Waffle Me Up serves up 3 different types of savory waffles and 2 sweet waffles daily and offers 2 rotating daily special waffles. My dining companion and I ordered their B.O.B. Deluxe and one of their daily special "avocado waffles"with the intention of splitting them. The B.O.B is considered one of their savory waffles (as the toppings are more savory, but the waffle itself has the same sweetness). It's a liège waffle topped with havarti, a fried egg, bacon, maple syrup, and basil. Our server mentioned that it's their most popular waffle. I can see why. It was absolutely delicious. The avocado waffle was a sort of version of avocado toast. It's a waffle topped with sliced avocado and cracked pepper. Wonderful in its simplicity. The restaurant is arranged so that you order at the counter, beverages are immediately given, they take your name, and you find a seat. Once your waffle is ready, they bring it out to you. The inside looks little different than when Guru could be found there. There are low tables as well as counter height tables to sit at in addition to a sofa if you prefer. They serve Dawson's coffee (when I was there, their Sumatra, a wonderfully rich, dark roast) as well as milk, chocolate milk, juices, and soda. The service was wonderfully kind and attentive. Upon hearing that we'd not been there before, they explained how their waffles are made, their menu, and gave recommendations. I seriously can't think of a single thing this experience was lacking. The mocha my husband ordered was average. The beverages took very long to make considering there were no other orders. At one point I though maybe I missed them calling my name but it was just still not ready. The staff was not incredibly welcoming. Kombucha on tap was out. Got a bottle, it was good. A bit on the sweet tasting side. Overall, I wanted to like the drinks here because it's right next to the Boise Fry Company and would be convenient but it just wasn't a good experience.
