Service is outstanding! Everything is delicious! You have to try their oatmeal pie, it's out of this world. The cookie is so soft and delicious. Everything is homemade and wonderfully priced. Love that it's inside the warehouse too. Check them out!

TEMPORARILY CLOSED AS OF 12/1/25 per letter posted on eatery door. See excerpts below…read more I was a big fan of this eatery under original owners but not so much since the current owners took over. So, I don't weep for their need to re-evaluate but realize fans will be disappointed. If you have gift cards you can use them at St. Lawrence Gridiron or Rustica, two other Boise downtown restaurants with the same owners. From the letter on door: "As many know, there has been a significant slowdown in consumer spending, especially in restaurants starting late 2024. We've done our very best to keep prices in line with what makes sense to cover costs and provide full benefits for our amazing staff," the letter said. "However, with sales down across all entities this year, we must re-evaluate our operations and make the necessary difficult decisions to be a sustainable business. Also, for the first time in many years, we recently lost two key people in our organization, and they both were a large part of what made Wild Root special. Last, we are heading into the slower, winter months. Instead of scrambling to keep the doors open, we are going to shut it down to evaluate everything."

Food was good too. I thought I ordered Eggs Benedict but I was given two eggs without hollandaise sauce instead. I didn't complain. I still ate it and everything was delicious. Service was quick so I'll definitely give this place another try.

So it was delightful when The Sturiale Place reopened last month (May 2018) as warm and wonderful as ever for ambiance in the lovingly restored old house, hospitality, service and food. With a revised and bit expanded menu and a new young Chef in the kitchen, formerly Executive Chef at a Portland area McMenamins, this was a unique little gem before and the changes have polished it even brighter. Our first lunch after re-opening was as delightful as the others we enjoyed here last year (see my previous review for details). This time we enjoyed being able to try new menu items like green salad with Delicata squash and herbed goat cheese (half order $7.50), house made pappardelle with braised lamb Bolognese ($18) and mushroom Marsala on polenta ($13). As a great new surprise on the wine menu, manager Gina Sturiale (daughter of Rita) has added a really good white and red wine by the glass, like the nice Negroamaro my husband enjoyed, for as little as $5! The menu spans options from soup through appetizers and starter or main course sized salads through entrees to desserts. Prices range from $6 to $18. Total inside seating is limited to maybe 16 and maybe about that many on an outside deck. So this is not a place for big groups. It is likely not a kids' destination either. As added treat they are now open on Thursday and Friday from 11 to 2 for lunch. And now reservations can be made via Open Table.

I did subtract one star because there is only street parking and many spaces you need a residential permit to park. Also, they have such limited hours of operation. Won't be able to try again until next week. We have a reservation for next Friday, so I will update with review on food then.....

I had expiring gift certificates for the Protein Spot in Boise. I thought I'd get lunch and more…read more the store/dining area is fairly plain but extremely clean. there's a counter where they take orders and sev refrigerated cases to browse for take home food and desserts. I ordered a salad with steak for the protein. I got the tzatziki dressing on it. I asked for extra cucumbers and dressing. I ended up.with too much for the small amount of greens. Salad was tasty and the steak was great--very tender. The salad dressing is nice, however a little goes a long way. I opted for brown rice as the base. I'd eat that ag, but thought $10.75 was a little much. Most all of the takeout items are in the $9-12 range. I got their ver of a pizza. It was okay. i am not a fan of turkey pepperoni. There was ground beef too that was good. But not enough sauce so I thought it was dry. The meals all had between 32 to 50 grams protein. I recommend their PROTEIN BALLS. In the $6 range for 6. They last a long time in your refrigerator so you don't need to use them right away. They're full of oats, whey protein and other good things. I got peanut butter and Oreo flavors. Both were good and I could easily eat them all. I had a peanut butter protein shake too good if in a hurry but not sweet. If you Are in the area, its a healthy change from burgers.

We walked in and looked a bit lost, and a team member asked if we're getting smoothies since we walked to the register but we said we also wanted bowls. The team member didn't say anything else and walked away. We weren't directed on where to go and there is no clear signage on where to order bowls. I ordered the 6oz Holy Guacamole and a smoothie (as did my husband), but was rushed through the line even though there was no one behind my party. I could also barely hear the girl working the line due to all the kitchen noise (pans slamming, grill going, blenders going) and asked her to repeat herself, but she just capped my bowl and sent it straight to the register. I then realized she first asked about the toppings, so I wasn't able to order any. The entire team seemed rushed to be closing considering all the kitchen and dining area clean up chaos - even though they close at 7pm and there were still other patrons walking in as we were paying. It was about $44 without tip. All in all, it was an okay experience but don't think I'll be back. The seasonings were good but a bit too salty. The chicken was cooked well but the shrimp tasted like it was just recently defrosted. The service wasn't great - we obviously walked in looking lost and then weren't directed on where to go or how the order flow works. Clearly, they were all in a rush to close and it left a sour note for me.

We take both very seriously, so Goldy's was high on our list during our trip to Boise--and it did not disappoint. We ended up sitting upstairs, which turned out to be a great choice. It gave us a fun view of the dining room below and, more importantly, let us see all the amazing-looking plates coming out of the kitchen. If you're anything like me, half the fun of breakfast is seeing what everyone else ordered. The standout for both of us was easily the Goldy's Special Potatoes. The red potatoes are tossed with the restaurant's house seasoning blend, and whatever is in that seasoning mix works. They were flavorful, crispy, and completely addictive. We both cleaned our plates. I ordered the two-egg breakfast with scrambled eggs and cheese, along with one of their specialty sausages. Everything was cooked perfectly, and the biscuit was excellent. Since I was in Idaho, I also wanted to try something made with marionberries because they're so well known in the Pacific Northwest. I ordered the marionberry jam, and while I wasn't entirely sure what to expect, both my husband and I really enjoyed it. My husband went with an omelet and turkey apple sausage and was equally happy with his choice. The coffee was probably the only thing that didn't stand out to me. I drink my coffee black, and this was more of a classic diner-style cup of coffee--perfectly fine, but not the star of the meal for sure. Overall, Goldy's is exactly the kind of breakfast spot we love finding when we travel: great food, generous portions, and a place that feels like a local favorite for a reason. If we ever find ourselves back in Boise, we'll absolutely be back for those potatoes.

We came at 10:15am on a Friday and had to wait over 30min. The host was super nice. We didn't leave until 11:45. It was a long wait to get our food. I would say this place struck me as a very average diner, still good, but not amazing. My food was pretty cold when I got it but it was good. I actually really liked the coffee too. I probably would not come back but it's worth a try.
