I had planned to eat at another place down the street but due to the wait, tried this place. Very casual atmosphere but WOW! Those are some good waffles! I have tried many places to see what the big deal was with chicken and waffles. I had almost given up on them but decided to try one more time. Now I get it! This dish would increase my waistband significantly given the chance. The only thing saving me is I'm not in town that often. The waffles are awesome! The texture and taste are totally different than any others we've had. The staff has always been very friendly, welcoming, and kind. Max greets us with enthusiasm always looking at how he can make customers experience better. I went here in February 2020. The place is in a really neat slot next to the Boise Fry Company. The space of shares inside is pretty open and friendly to be able to watch the street. Waffle me up seem to be a afterthought to the Boise Fry Company maybe? It gives you the idea that it's a temporary pop-up type place. Maybe they didn't want to put much money into it until he knew how well it might do. But you're probably not here to sit in the building. The waffles were 10 star amazing! They have a poster on the wall that explains the finer points of the waffles. They point out to use Belgian sugar crystals, which I didn't even know was a thing. But it really does set these things apart from something else you might find. I do have to say that these are probably some of the best waffles I've had and I will definitely go back for more. My girlfriend had a gluten-free option and she said she absolutely loved them, which is pretty difficult for people to find gluten-free waffles that are epic. We also had some bacon and eggs. But the waffles really were amazing! I would highly recommend anyone to grab these things before a trip up to bogus or possibly to hike or something. read more

Holy wow. These waffles are good. I've read some reviews that complain about the density of the waffles, but I think that's actually what I love. I enjoyed the Bob Deluxe when I visited and the flavors were amazing. The dense, sweet waffle matched with the bacon and cheese and egg were such great complimenting friends. I don't get the reviews at all- unless it is for atmosphere and not the food. The price for two waffle squares was about 20$ - and it was so small! The pictures look big because the plates are side dish plates- the waffles are about as big as an English muffin. One isn't enough for a meal, just a snack. Plus, the waffle itself was really chewy and hard to eat (and not tasty, except the toppings). The staff was super nice though. read more

After wanting to try this place for weeks....no, take that back- MONTHS, I finally made it here on a Saturday morning. And I left wondering where this place has been my whole life. First off, it's all about the waffles and who doesn't love a good waffle!? Crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. Whatever your jam, this place has a waffle option for everyone and everything. As soon as we walked in we were warmly greeted by the owners. They walked us through the menu and how they make their waffles- pearl sugar imported from Belgium and the yeast dough. Oh my. The menu itself is pretty straightforward and simple which I appreciate because trust me, of there 20+ options to choose from I'd be standing there for days trying to carve a way past my indecisiveness. While the savory option of the BOB sounds intriguing and different, I figured these folks knew what they were doing so when it came to it I went all the way and ordered the BOBacado Deluxe. Yup. My better half ordered the same. We both loved it but would order it with two eggs next time because part of the magic is the yolk. And simply because we couldn't overcome our need for a little sweetness, we ordered the Strawberry Me to try as well. A decadent treat but oh so delicious. I have frequented this location for quite some time and I do have to say, these are the best waffles in Boise. The team is always very friendly, the food is great and at an affordable cost, I can't think of a reason I wouldn't come here on a consistent basis. I personally get a "Bob Deluxe" which is the perfect savory waffle, it has an egg, bacon, basil, and cheese. It is very hard for me to take my family to a local place where they have crafty creations and like it-- err love it. It wasn't too sweet, great texture, fresh banana, 10/10. The service rocked, everyone was friendly and helpful as we tried to decide what to order. If you don't have a sweet tooth, get the BOB or the BOB deluxe for a savory delight. And if someone in your party does not like waffles (is that even possible?), Boise Fry Co is right there! This is a great little brunch spot. It was our first time going, and I thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere, the food, and the service. I had the BOB and would recommend it if you like a little protein in your breakfast. They have some lighter stuff on the menu too. And for the record, if anyone tells you that the waffle is too heavy, punch them in the mouth. My great aunt's best friend's youngest brother's great nephew was in Belgium one time, and he said that the true Belgian waffle is supposed to be thick like they are here. The batter isn't supposed to be runny like it is at the Holiday Inn up the street. Appreciate what you're getting here cuz it's pretty good. Lastly, take advantage of the square program when you're paying (I realize that might not make sense, just ask when you're paying). Couple visits and you'll wind up with a free waffle on your hands! This is the closest I've come to a true Belgium waffle in the USA. My pet peeve is with restaurants who serve basic waffles and call them Belgium. They think a Belgium waffle is simply a thick waffle with deep indentations to hold the syrup. This cannot be further from the truth. A true Belgium waffle is a yeast-based dough characterized by a crispy exterior and a sweetness from the addition of sugar pearls. Waffle Me Up has most of these characteristics. The exterior of the waffle was not as crisp as the ones I've eaten in Belgium but the yeasted flavor and texture was good. It also didn't have as much as the sugary edge as the European varieties but their waffles are still quite nice. I only tried the basic version as I wanted to test the base. All in all, it is a 5-star American Belgium waffle and I would definitely come back. Waffle Me Up is as close to a Belgium Waffle as you can get in the states. If, however, you ever find yourself in Belgium, please buy one to truly blow your mind. :-). read more

Found this place on Yelp. Looked at the reviews and the pictures that people posted and had to come here right away. My friend and I got the BOB and also the waffle me strawberry. I don't think I have tasted anything so yummy. The waffles had this sweet crunch to them. They were done to perfection. The owner is super friendly. The waffles here are great. They're a lot denser than your average waffle, so one waffle filled me up pretty good. Paying $6+ for one waffle seems a little pricey, though. There are lots of toppings to choose from for your waffle, and you can decide whether to go sweet or savory. I'm more of a sweet waffle person, but the savory waffles (especially the Bob Deluxe) looked tasty too. I've been going to their Food Truck locations at the Saturday Boise Farmers Market EVERY SATURDAY for months now and I'm so happy they've been successful enough to now open a full time restaurant! They serve Belgian style waffles which are thicker and have a little bit of crunch. I'm not sure how else to describe it to someone who has never had one- you just have to try it! My favorite waffle is "Waffle Me Strawberry," it comes with strawberries, Nutella and whipped cream. Sweet & simple and I love it. My boyfriend's favorite is the "BOB Deluxe" which is a SAVORY waffle! It comes with havarti cheese, an egg, bacon, syrup and basil. It is exactly as advertised - a place to order and eat waffles. I had waffles Banana me up; a crispy outside, soft inside waffle coated with locally made peanut butter and a full banana sliced on top. It was perfect but next time I'll add a 2nd type. One waffle wasn't rough. Luckily this place shared space with Boise Fry so 5 minutes after the waffle was gone, I had a plate of fries as a chaser. The service was friendly, fast and super accommodating. It looks to me like this guy likes his waffles and his business. Tasty, tasty stuff. My only other point of reference for a liege waffle is Wafels and Dinges in NYC, but found them to be too sweet (for me, at least). This was much more balanced in terms of sweetness, but also much more dense (it's generally a more dense waffle than we're used to as liege waffles are made with a dough and not a batter). A marriage of the two waffles would be awesome but yeah, anyway. I think this is more of a 4.5 star place, probably even 5 but the waffle for my Bob Deluxe was a little over and burnt on one side. Probably a one off and something they're hopefully more mindful of in the future. Also, probably not fair to ding them for but I wish they had more options for both sweet and savory specials on their menu - because both items I had today, the bob deluxe and lemon merengue special, were so inventive, creative and super duper delicious. You have a nice list of topping options to create your own but I want these guys to do it, because they're so damn good at it. read more

Oh my lanta, this place is a downtown gem! A waffle like none other in Boise, do yourself a favor and go here ASAP. Family run and local as can be! Pros: Unique liege waffles with "sugar pearls" embedded and topped with savory or sweet toppings! Try both and be amazed. My favorite is the local special they rotate every so often....fresh Saturday market ingredients! Both styles are fresh and made to order. Also try the basil and bacon waffle....different but delicious! The atmosphere is chill with big windows that look out to downtown. The owner Hector seems to always be around and checking in to make sure everybody's meal is top notch. Great customer service! Also, prices are more than reasonable for the quality of the product. I originally came here with my kids and had a pleasant experience. However, upon returning, I'd hate to say it just wasn't the same. The cashier failed to tells us up front that they were unable to make change. She waited until after we ordered which we thought at first was no problem, just the same as leaving a tip. So we go wash our hands and the restroom was dirty (not the first time I went there and it was dirty) and smelled awful! Not like someone had a BM...much much worse. Indescribable. So we decided to eat outside and instead of the the employee bringing our food to us after having kept our money, they came to tell us it was ready. We go get our food and and a bottle of syrup for our waffles and the it was absolutely sticky and filthy. We ended up pouring our syrup by holding a napkin around the bottle. Then We had to get our own silverware from the holder which other customers also touched and sorted through. It was dirty and exposed to flies so we asked for plastic. When they asked if something was wrong, we told them it was dirty and they did nothing about it. At this point I was annoyed but trying to make the most of it. We should've just left because of how unsanitary the place was but one thing for sure is we WILL NOT be back. read more

You guys, this is a Boise delicacy and you NEED to try this if you're in Boise! Honestly, it blew my mind with how good it was and was easily my favorite place I ate at while I was there. The waffle was so soft and chewy yet a little crispy on the outside and oh so soft on the inside. We got "Banana Me Up" which had cookie butter on the waffle with fresh bananas and whipped cream. As well as the chicken and waffles. The chicken and waffles was out of this world with crispy chicken on a buttery, sweet waffle and then delicious gravy all on top and then an onion ring. We ate at the Meridian/Chinden location and had a very poor experience. A plain waffle and a chicken & waffle took almost 25 minutes, and we were the first ones there! There was only 1 employee and everyone ended up waiting, even to place an order. A number of people stayed a few minutes and then walked out. I felt a little bad that the company abandoned her there, but not very much because she wasn't customer focused or particularly friendly, communicative, or understanding. The food was poor. The chicken gravy was bland and had an industrial after-taste. The plain waffle was supposed to have sugar, but didn't. The soda even tasted like there was still a bit of cleaner left in the machine. The facility needed additional cleaning. Lots of dust and dirt where there shouldn't have been. We love waffles and hoped for a good experience, but I think there are other places that would be better options. read more

I love chicken and waffles. These folks make excellent chicken and waffles. Liege waffles are delightful (thanks, Belgium!) and they did a very nice job with them. They also have very good kombucha, which makes me sound like a hipster. I am not a hipster (I use film cameras because I never stopped using film cameras), but I do like a good kombucha, and theirs is top-notch. The help is friendly, and it's nice when someone in their twenties doesn't look at a couple in their fifties like we're from a different planet. Good humans, all. The waffle maker nicolas was awsosme and had super keen customer service. Very personable and welcoming. The other worker person should be more inviting even when customers walk in. She didnt tell him about our order and we waited. We went up and asked for a refund and she said, he didnt nake it...unmm how would he know about it if you didnt tell him about our order.
