This my favorite place for breakfast in DeRidder. Friendly staff and good food. Portion to price ratio is very good too.

Great greasy spoon but surprisingly not greasy! Laid back atmosphere. Lots of old grumpy locals who don't like female night nurses coming in boisterous and laughing. We were actually called clucking chickens and clucked at! That can only happen in Deridder. Where I'm from it's beyond the pale to be so openly sexist and rude. Additionally people are generally appreciative of people visiting your town to staff your local hospital so when you show up needing medical attention there is staff to help. But anyway, if you can ignore the old sexist grumpy men you will love the waffles. No variety as far as flavors for waffles but it's soooooo good. I hear the pancakes are great too. The biscuits are a skip the toast and bacon are great. The hash browns are killer. Skip the eggs tho. Thy cook them to rubber status. The grilled chicken is awesome and moist and flavorful. The fries are great. Def skip chicken strips tho. They were bland and dried out. They can be chintzy with toppings and I generally have to add salt and pepper (guess they are keeping the old grumpy local's hearts healthy) But it's always a great place for us after a 12 hour killer night shift. Now if the sexist locals would stop being offended by our giggling, our visits would be great. Oh and the waitresses are so nice! read more

Food was just ok. Waffle was extra crispy, so for a waffle house it should have been amazing!! The rest of our meals were just fine, normal breakfast food. We had 3 different waitresses, not sure if they were confused as to who had what table. Kids said it was just fine! read more

I came down here to DeRidder while I was doing a job for about couple of weeks.This was one of the restaurants. We stopped at for breakfast. What I had for breakfast was their ribeye steak (medium well done) with 2 eggs (scrambled) and hash browns it was delicious. I also tried the egg and cheese sandwich. I've lived here in DeRidder for a while now and I have been multiple times, mainly because its the only place around that has somewhat decent breakfast food. The building is in need of major overhauling and the place usually isn't the cleanest. The staff can be friendly if they know you, however if not then don't plan on getting anything better than mediocre service. The food is decent at best. Most of the times when I go there and I order pancakes they come out burnt and I have to ask for some that are cooked decently. Usually out of one thing or another. The food is what you would expect for a cheap place, my friend and I both eat for less than $25 including a tip. read more

Usually eat here about 3 times a month, i am ALWAYS satisfied with the meal (sausage and cheese omelet), it is always hot and freshly cooked to order, the staff is always nice and keeps your drinks filled. read more

Small diner, seats about 80 people. They had about 8 on staff and ran smoother and faster than any place around here. The hash browns were real not though frozen pucks. The eggs were made to order. Real sausage patties and links. Huge pancakes! The line was backed up at the door, soon as they cleared a table it was taken by the next group. Yes they had a line but the wait was around 5 minutes and it took about 15 minutes to receive your order was placed. I frequent a place where it takes 15 minutes if your the only one there if your number four expect a 30 to 45 minute wait. Three servers covering 80 people and it was a thing of beauty watching them hustle. No time to sit and chat, no complaining they were swamped because they had three orders. These girls were amazing, had I brought enough cash I would have tipped them all 20 bucks. Three cooks taking the time to do it right and no frozen bullshit shortcuts. The price was the same as another place I frequent but you get real quality food and excellent service. Absolutely amazing! They restored my faith in humanity today, there is Hope. So glad we stopped and waited. read more

Sincerely to whom it may apply. Today while visiting your establishment. I encountered one of the worst dining experience of my life. And this experience was not due to efficiency, consistence, or meal quality. It was due to a word that one of your employees stated. Me and my family decided to use your establishment due to great ratings and 3rd party networking. My wife ordered a med-rare steak with came out medium to med-well. I ordered medium to med-well T-bone steak and sunny side eggs. Which my steak was well done and my eggs where somewhat sunny but still possed the York shield surrounding. But this of all things was not that disturbing issue. The issued initiated when I informed my server that my food was not cooked to my desired temperature. Of all my 20 years as a certified Cheff. One thing my staff was always informed never tell a customer what you can not do. I am not sure if the employees there are familiar with the term give em the pickle. But my server statement as quoted was. I thought you said med-well but this is the last T-bone steak so there is nothing we can do. How dare you say such a phrase to a paying customer. In all aspect of businesses, your customers are your bosses. Because your customers pay your boss your owner and any employee employeed by that company salary. So after that statement and waiting around 4 minutes she returns to the table with my wife a blue rare steak. After we have already return the first one for being to over cooked. Nice place to go for breakfast! Dinner menu is ok, I like it because it is not so noisy and hectic.

This place was terrible. My wife ordered steak and eggs. The steak was raw not rare, but raw. The hash browns tasted like they buy in bulk from Costco, but do not try to season them. The coffee was just dyed hot water. Overall left me feeling disappointed. We will never go back there again. read more

At one time may have been a great mom and pop style breakfast house but now falls far short from even being called decent. Spent 20.00 on a to-go order. I live five minutes away so I ate it as soon as i got home. Completely forgot my wife's sandwich. I Opened up the sandwich I ordered to find a slice of cheese melted to the aluminum foil, two soggy slices of bread sitting on top of each other an egg on top and completely forgot the bacon. Hash browns were more like Hash whites, did they boil them? Microwave? And were in a ridiculous small portion just because I wanted them to-go I guess. But still charged me the full price of over five dollars. I'm not a picky eater, especially when it comes to simple American breakfast, but i stopped eating when I got to the waffle, it looked like it got rained on and was...chewy?? Never had to chew a waffle like a stick of gum. The place is called Waffle Shoppe but managed to make the first waffle I've ever refused to eat. I've dined in multiple times, the employees look tired and fed up as soon as you walk in. No courtesies, just food dropped off on your table and a refill if you ask. All and all, I've met school lunch ladies with more cordiality, have made a better waffle at a Super 8 motel's continental breakfast, and had better breakfast at a military hospital. Would rather risk getting hepatitis at a Waffle HOUSE then ever go back to the Waffle Shoppe. Next time I want to spend 20.00 on breakfast in Deridder I'll go to the liquor store and buy a fifth. read more
