    Shrimp N Grits, S'mores Waffle!!
    Davion B.

For the past year, I've patronized this place via Door Dash because it's close by my studio. Well, this morning I decided to make my dine experience happen. Upon entering, the laid back atmosphere was super inviting. There was a movie playing great decor which enhances the in person visit even more!! The menu has TONS of waffle combo options(trust me, I've done almost ALL of them) but today I decided to go with the Shrimp N Grits combo. It comes with a half waffle, that I upgraded to a full S'mores waffle. Also added a side of scrambled eggs, with cheese of course. The 1st scoop of the HUGE bowl of Shrimp N Grits had me in Heavenly Taste Bud Bliss!! It was Sooo flavorful and savory!! Usually you have to add a lil salt and pepper to those, not so here!! It's delicious As Is!! The portion is so big, that even I had to tap out!! The eggs are always fluffy, and the presentation is definitely better in person!! Now on to the waffle....OMG....with S'mores being my favorite dessert, I knew it was about to be an experience!! While I've ordered it before via Door Dash, I've learned that dining in is ALWAYS better tasting!! And my point was proven with the 1st bite!! The mini marshmallow chips, graham cracker bites, and chocolate syrup made this SO GOOD!! I tapped out on the grits....but I ATE ALL OF THIS!! I treat waffles/pancakes like dessert, so I eat it last, and I had to pause a few time because this was getting gorged!! Lol Overall, this is a GO TO breakfast/brunch spot on Houston's northwest side!! The staff is SUPER friendly and courteous especially Lynn!! She took great care of me and the other patrons that were dining there. 10/10

cookies and cream waffle, banana (?) waffle, and red velvet waffles!

I went in on a Saturday and it was pretty quiet. There was a few other customers eating in but i was surprised how quiet it was. the food was delicious!! Everyone was satisfied and the guy behind the counter was super nice and made sure we were taken care of. he took our order and then made everything to order which was surprising he did it all on his own! the one thing i will say is that the tables and chairs were all kind of sticky, to include the high chair which sucked. aside from that the food and service was 10/10.

3.5 if were being picky. What an experience! I get the hype. As a brunch spot, this little gem offers the staples- decedent brunch favorites without the turn up. While they offer mimosas, you probably won't see folks getting lit. While their playlist is smooth, it's a family friendly environment. The concept is fast casual- order at the counter, receive your food at the pickup on a tray when ready, and enjoy in the intimate seating provided (that goes for this and their Humble location). When we arrived we were told that there was a wait of 45 min to an hour to receive food, likely closer to the hour mark, it was clear that they were firmly in the weeds. While we were prepared to wait, it took 1 hr and 45 minutes for us to receive our meal (which extends beyond reasonable expectation). We ordered more than a few other tables, but for a fast casual restaurant, it seemed to point to operational issues, whether that be staffing, efficiency with volume, or just plain "we caught them on a bad day". Whichever it is...I can say it did impact the experience. Just a heads up- they no longer serve the pulled chicken and pulled pork sandwiches listed on the menu, and pictured in the restaurant. On the plus side, everything we ordered arrived fresh, and the food was delicious. The Cajun shrimp and grits is huge. You could easily split this with two or three people alongside another entree. The birthday cake waffle is simple but effective. The addition of sprinkles offer a nice crunch and a little sugar. In addition to the drizzle, you don't really need syrup to enjoy this one. The strawberry waffle pairs well with the chicken n waffles dish. We choose wings but you can also go for tenders! The chicken had a great crunch, and was bursting with flavor. The beignets were a surprise. I love me some beignets, and while New Orleans traditional these were not, they were pretty dang tasty. I can't wait to see these folks in the pocket. If you choose to visit, expect the itis..in the best way!

This is it right here!!! They are going to see me on a regular! These wings and waffles are so dang good make you want to..... well you know the rest! The waffles are so fluffy, crisp on the outside and sweet. The wings are seasoned to the bone. Everything is cooked to order so pack your patience! Deliciousness can't be rushed. Everyone speaks when you walk in and it's very clean. Two things we didn't get to try was the shrimp and grits and ice cream! The price was very good too many places are charging steak prices for chicken and waffles. I was glad to see these prices. Do not fear the mimosa price cause it was hitting on a different level. For sure a hidden gem!

Don't know how this place wasn't packed. Great waffles and great staff!! Would come back again. We also had the country waffle. My husband was overly surprised how much he enjoyed breakfast.

I ordered a banana nut waffle because I figured that's the safest bet to not be super sweet or risk being gritty. Everyone was super nice. The store was clean. Can't wait to try this waffle. The waffle was kind of more like a snack. It had small flavor but did not give a buttery taste.

food is amazing and service was amazing my family and I had an great experience :) They have a lot of options to choose from and everything was delicious!

Great food, the softest and most fluffiest waffle I've ever had. The chicken was so crispy and juicy. Highly recommend coming here if you are close to the area! Staff was very nice and attentive.

Had a wonderful lunch with my grandsons after their football games. We were greeted promptly, and waited to order at the counter. Our food took a bit, but I didn't mind, as it's made to order. The ambiance is casual. There's a tv for entertainment or keeping up with the game... We enjoyed our food! The chicken was really good and my blueberry waffle! Lord! I inhaled it! Oh! I had a cup of coffee also, that was smooth and delicious! I'll definitely be back!

Thus, we were literally in shock when we entered into the venue and realized that it is a SIT-DOWN RESTAURANT! I didn't think it would be fast food style like Popeye's or KFC. However, I imagined it would be along the line of Cane's, but a little more upscale. My first reaction was, "Aww man, I'm going to have to pay more for something that is already sort of pricey." I'm thinking in terms of tipping. HOWEVER, I actually had a really great time here. The menu is simple, yet unique simultaneously with monthly special burgers and Korean inspired flavors. I LOVE the fact that you can substitute the crispy chicken for GRILLED. I'm all about eating out, enjoying food, but also trying to select better options. Healthy eating doesn't mean boring! This place seems like an American/Korean fusion restaurant, or an Americanized version of Bon Chon. The vibe is really cozy, intimate, and chill. It's a great spot to casually hang out with friends or family. The wait for the chicken was long, BUT it was worth the wait. The food was hot and fresh. The Korean BBQ OG Grilled Chicken Sandwich - It was huge! Even though I am a petite 95 lb lady, I devoured that sandwich. The flavor wasn't an authentic Korean flavor, but it wasn't bad! It was more sour and salty for my taste. I think it would balance out more if there were no pickles, and a mixture of the kimchi carrot slaw + regular mayo based coleslaw. Szechuan Fries - The Szechuan mustard sauce is powerful and incredibly overwhelming. I do NOT recommend that sauce at all. I think if you order these fries, just OMIT that mustard sauce. I felt like all my sinuses cleared up and my eye balls were about to pop out. Dirty Fries - You can't go wrong with cheese fries. I am not a sour person, so I didn't enjoy the pickles on the fries. Our server, Brenna, was INCREDIBLE! She is the main reason why this review is getting a 5 star. She didn't know that it was basically our first time and she still gave us exceptional service. She was friendly, patient, and sweet. We ordered the Szechuan Fries because it was a free offer upon signing up for their rewards program. I told her I didn't like the mustard sauce and she offered to get us the Dirty Fries! I was like, "What?!" The fries were already free, so I didn't expect her to even offer a substitution. ALSO, for the Kid's Meal, she let us know that the side could be substituted for something else at no extra charge. If she didn't make that known to us, we would have had no idea. I'm glad she mentioned it because the boys LOVE mac & cheese, so that was perfect. Also, we were already getting fries, so it helped us to get more variety. All in all, the place is a little expensive, but I had a great time. The service was superb, the food was great, and I noticed that they are involved in the community. I love supporting businesses that give back. Thus, I would recommend trying this place out, even if it's just once!

Boy was I surprised to be seated by a hostess only to glance around to find a bar, enclosed patio and semi open kitchen. Did the meal itself differ from its fast casual counterparts? Not by much, but the offerings were more robust. I love to see pie on the menu alongside shakes, and while Mac and cheese and fries are welcome, orange chicken, Korean spices, broccoli salad, collards and heavenly eggs are a welcome change of pace. Our first trip (dine in) was about a 4-5 star experience. I waiter was not the most attentive and the food took quite awhile but the experience was positive enough for me to return. The second trip was a drive thru experience and it was...not as pleasant. Our service wasn't the best, our attendant less than enthused to be doing their job. A matter of fact, I felt like I was bothering her by ordering. While my food was fine, my sandwich came without napkins and again the food (one sandwich) took quite awhile. I'm unsure if I'll return with so many options in the area, but I'm glad I experienced them twice!

Additionally, the service representatives in the drive-thru are consistently pleasant, which I truly appreciate. Regarding the food, it is always freshly prepared, well-seasoned, and perfectly crispy. I particularly enjoyed the option to substitute fries for onion rings or corn nuggets, though I did note the $5.00 upcharge for these substitutions. I also noticed a white powder found on all the items that has a unique, tasty flavor--almost like a salt and sugar mix--though I wasn't quite sure what it was. The only negative I've found is that the food does not seem to reheat well, even when using an air fryer. However, when eaten fresh, it is delicious. Thank you for the consistently good service and quality.

But their attention to detail and chaotic scene behind the counter caused delays and mess ups on my order two times and they still messed up the when I got it. My wife and I ordered the tilapia and tenders as well as the snapper and wings. These dishes were amazing, first star gets knocked here. When I ordered I asked for the snapper and wings and he rung up snapper and shrimp. No worries I'll tell him to change it, told him and he said no problem. Messed up the order three times and had to remind them every time that it was the wings. My oldest got the chicken sandwich which looked amazing. Here's the second star, I asked them what came on the sandwich which was sauce and lettuce. My daughter is a plain Jane type lady so I asked for no sauce. What do we see when she opens the container? It's absolutely smothered in sauce and lettuce. I had to end up going to the store and buying buns to put tenders on the new bun.

My order: 5 piece spicy with Laynes sauce and ranch it ran about $14 for the meal. Chicken- very fresh they were definitely made to order for us. Very crunchy and juicy. Seasoning/Spice level- wasn't too spicy. More on the mild heat. I'm very sensitive to salty food these were highly salty. That was my only critique bc other than that they were delicious. They are also real tenders unlike canes which seem to be strips of chicken breast. Laynes sauce was decent. I tasted the black pepper. Paprika and definitely celery salt in there. Those note were very up front. The ranch was just ranch lol. The meal came with fries and some Texas toast. They also have shakes that's looked good but didn't try one this time. Now the story: Ok wow this place was an eye opener and had me highly curious my friend said u got to try Layne's chicken I'm like I had canes before. He said no Laynes. I'm like I never heard of that before. So we went since it sparked my interest we went and on the ride there I was wondering what came first? A new "chicken or the egg?" Thing. Lol. So I looked it up on AI and sure enough Laynes was in 94 and originated in college station TX. And canes. In 96 in NOLA. As we pull up to this location on 132 E Airtex Dr. you would never believe what was right next to this place. Yessss A Mother flipping Canes lol. I'm like are we on a batttle ground right now. lol. They literally have the same menu. And are neighbors. So now it was even more of a question which one is better? So it you are trying to decide: LAYNES - actual chicken tenters. Crunchy. Juicy. Way more flavor. Even though highly salty. Maybe it was just the spicy ones. I don't try the regular tenders. The do offer shakes here as well looked good but didn't try them. Always a plus for some shakes. Laynes is definitely a place to go to. Canes, Who's ur daddy? The answer to that is Laynes lol

It normally comes with their house sauce, but I added the house‑made ranch since people on Google were raving about it. If you choose any heat level, it defaults to Nashville style breading; Coop's Classic is reserved for kids meals or no‑heat tenders. They asked if I wanted to swap the fries for something else. I asked what counted as an even exchange, and the only option was coleslaw--which the Double Clucker already comes with--so that made no sense whatsoever. I stuck with the fries. Oddly, the meal doesn't include a drink, so I added an Oreo milkshake since that also had good reviews. The staff was very friendly, and the milkshake came out first and fast. They served it to my table in the empty dining room. Flavor was fine, but it didn't come with the cherry shown in the photos and included in the menu description. Worse yet, it was extremely watery--super runny, not cold, and definitely not "Frosty" as advertised. See my videos. Big disappointment. When the food arrived, the tender itself was great--moist and flavorful. The mild heat level barely registered for me, but the ranch dip was better than the house sauce dip. The coleslaw didn't do it for me. It lacked flavor, and the cabbage pieces were cut way too large. Lastly, the fries. Oh boy. Not refrigerator cold, but definitely cool. Not warm, not hot--just... cool. And ack. Overall, I can only recommend the tenders. They do sell them à la carte for $4 and change, and those are the only thing worth getting that I tried.
