I revisited Chick Houz recently and decided to try something different so I ordered the Pollito Sandwich with black beans for the side dish. The grilled chicken sandwich was very tall. The kind you have to mush down to get it to be manageable. It was good tasting along with the beans which I have had before. The meal with a soft drink was $20 w/tax. After paying I noticed an extra 70 cent charge on my receipt and found out they add 3.5% for credit card usage. No sign or warning. They just tack it on. I really dislike businesses charging extra for credit card use. Card usage is so commonly used and businesses should just raise their prices by the same amount to avoid penalizing us for using plastic. Cash has to be counted and handled, taken to the bank for deposit and poses a theft risk to the businesses. It saves them cost by not dealing with it. Minus 1 star.

We stumbled upon a small Peruvian spot near our hotel, and it turned out to be a great find--especially after a few days of Mexican and Tex-Mex. It was a nice change of pace. The restaurant itself is cozy and inviting, with plenty of seating. The menu offers a solid variety without being overwhelming. Our food came out quickly, hot, and smelled amazing right from the start. I ordered the Lomo Saltado--tender beef sautéed with red onions and Roma tomatoes, served with white rice and crispy French fries, topped with a touch of cilantro. It was very flavorful and satisfying. I also had a cup of chicha, the traditional drink made from purple Peruvian corn, and it was nicely done. We also tried the Brasa Burrito, which was packed with pulled rotisserie chicken, queso fresco, green onions, cilantro aioli, and a bit of fried rice (chaufa-style), along with black beans, Mexican crema, crispy onions, romaine lettuce, and Roma tomatoes on the side, plus your choice of sauce. A unique and tasty combination. The rotisserie chicken itself was excellent--juicy and well-seasoned. We had a half chicken (all white meat) served with rice chaufa and French fries, which made for a hearty and delicious meal. Our server was attentive throughout, checking in on us and making sure we had everything we needed. Overall, I was pleasantly surprised. While it wasn't as authentic as what I'm used to, it was still a very enjoyable meal--especially for Texas.

It's been awhile since Chick Houz and I have crossed paths. I guess you could say that we were going no contact. Not without strain ofcourse, I was just a little distracted with other pursuits and unwilling to make the drive to Humble. My first visit to the Spring location, I'm excited to announce that Chick Houz and I have reunited, and the meal was delicious. We ordered the family meal (the chicken special), both desserts :), and ofcourse a chicha morada. The whole chicken plus three sides was enough to feed four (and likely another), and while we were expecting maximum flavor from the chicken, the yucca fries were a beautiful, crispy, soft, comforting surprise. If I could, I'd eat them daily. That being said, I'd honestly reorder everything. If you've yet to give them a visit, know that they're worth droppin

Our last night in Houston, decided to go for Peruvian food. Found this spot nearby our hotel. We were greeted right away and the girls at register were very nice and friendly. We ordered the Lomo, 1/2 chicken and burrito. The lomo was just ok, definitely have had better! 1/2 chicken was tasty and burrito was also just ok. And had chocolate cake with dulce de leche and that was good!

I got the half chicken with vegetables and plantains, which was a healthy amount for dinner. The plantains were amazing, but that's also one of my favorite dishes. The vegetables were in kind of a spicy liquid and weren't my favorite. The chicken was freshly cooked, but a little bit dry. I did enjoy the crispy skin and both the yellow and green sauce that came in the to go order. Plenty of seating inside and a small but refined menu. The other reviews tell me I may have just had an off experience.

It was my first time at Chick Houz, and this Peruvian restaurant was excellent! I ordered the Brasa Burrito, Tres Leches cake, and a Chicha Morada for my drink, and everything was delicious. The flavors were great across the board, and I honestly don't have a single complaint. I'll definitely be coming back again!

Go. No, actually - RUN to Chick Houz! The Peruvian rotisserie chicken is an absolute must! When you arrive you are unsure as to what to expect because it's very minimal and looks like simple. But don't let the looks fool you! We got the half chicken and shared between two people. It comes with a choice of two sides. We got the fries and the chaufa rice. The chaufa rice was like your average fried rice but I think it was less salty and greasy compared to most restaurants when you are dining out. It was a nice dish which wasn't eggy either even though I saw plenty of egg fried into it. Perfect rice IMHO! The chicken has such a nice crispy exterior while the inside is still moist and juicy. And I am not a fan of white meat but wow both the dark and the white meat were equally tender, delicious, and full of flavor. The yucca fries were crispy and yummy while the regular fries were crispy on the outside and not waxy on the inside which was such a huge win. They had the flavor of freshly made homemade fries. The real star of the show in my opinion after the chicken were the three different sauces. I honestly don't know what they were called but they were yellow, green, and pinkish red in color. The red one was a little too spicy for my taste and I don't really know what all was in it. The green sauce was very similar to a green cilantro chutney that you might get at an Indian restaurant. But a close second MVP in my opinion was the yellow sauce. I still don't know what was in the sauce but it had a super addicting quality where I just wanted to drink by the end of my meal. The service was quick and friendly. When we approached the counter we were greeted and all our questions about the chicken and the rice were answered. They were really sweet and even offered us a few samples of the various drinks that they offer. My family from out of town had never tried the jamaica drink and so they really enjoyed getting a sample of that. In addition to that, I also ordered the chicha morada which was just a perfect accompaniment to my meal. And my favorite part about discovering Chick Houz is that they have multiple locations and I can't wait to try all of them!

Great chicken! I'm mainly a white meat person so I have had my fair share of overcooked, dry chicken breast. This place is not one of those. Very juicy chicken breast and the sides are awesome! I got the half chicken with green beans and fried rice. Wow! Coming back here when I come through Houston again.

Why 5 stars? Because this absolutely hit the spot. --- --- --- I have had Chick Houz bookmarked for a bit, but hadn't made it in with it being about 40 minutes from me. But I took my son to a playground nearby, with the intention of Chick Houz being *my* indoor playground after. I would have loved to try several different items on the menu, but I opted for lomo saltado, and it was basically about as good as it gets. The quality of the steak was exactly what I was hoping for. I loved every bite. My only note is that it was labeled as a "bowl" on the menu, and I think it would have been a little easier to eat from a bowl than a plate, just because things were falling off the side. But when that's your biggest complaint, you know it was good. I ordered a chicken sandwich for my son and stole a couple of bites. Honestly, I would have loved to steal a lot more. The bread had a hint of sweetness and the whole thing got me excited to go back for a second visit. I did order a tres leches for dessert that I didn't love (it was somehow *too* sweet), but you don't come here for tres leches. You come for steak, chicken and the fixins. And those things are great here.

I was invited by family and friends to come here. I do like that they make everything (except deserts) fresh! It may take a while, but the quality is irreplaceable! I ordered the Lomo Saltado bowl, hibiscus ginger lemonade, and tres leches. *This is an order and pay first kinda place* My food took some time, as expected, when my food came out my French fries were lacking, I mentioned it to my brother in a joking way, they must've heard me, because a few minutes later they brought out a bowl of French fries. They didn't have to do this, but it was a very kind gesture. By the way their French fries aren't too soft and not too hard... they were cooked perfectly for enjoying with this dish, or as stand alone fries. I inhaled my plate! Towards the end of the night, I asked for my tres leches and devoured it. It tasted like a combo of tres leches and rice pudding, it was bomb! I was definitely stuffed after this. I had a man next to me who said he's a regular and that I needed to try the chicken, that it's the best he's ever had. You know the food is good when people patiently wait for the restaurant to cook their to-go meals!! I highly recommend this place, the restaurant has a very welcoming atmosphere! Will definitely repeat!

Very excited to have a new Peruvian place near us. Very friendly owner. The grilled vegetables were fantastic. Rotisserie chicken was great. Nice seasoning and crispy. And the yucca fries were my favorite. Next time we'll try lomo saltado. Also, the ginger hibiscus lemonade was really hitting the spot. Excellent menu. Good to have something like this up north I went to Peru last year for the Inca Trail and this food is high quality and authentic

Let me say this right now - I don't know if I could ever go anywhere else for some good chicken in this area chick houz is the BEST when it comes to juicy chicken with a side of fries. This is our go to spot when we want a meal that tastes good, but can also be balanced! Whether you want a salad with your chicken, or fries, or their fried rice, you just CANT go wrong. Also the salchipapa - yes - just get the mega!! Sausages, a fried egg, yuca fries - ugh chefs kiss and perfection! Make sure you come here and try it for yourself. My mouth is watering just thinking about it again lol

My husband and I ate here many years ago that it doesn't even count since we couldn't remember our…read moreexperience. We ordered in the drive-thru during that time. Thus, we were literally in shock when we entered into the venue and realized that it is a SIT-DOWN RESTAURANT! I didn't think it would be fast food style like Popeye's or KFC. However, I imagined it would be along the line of Cane's, but a little more upscale. My first reaction was, "Aww man, I'm going to have to pay more for something that is already sort of pricey." I'm thinking in terms of tipping. HOWEVER, I actually had a really great time here. The menu is simple, yet unique simultaneously with monthly special burgers and Korean inspired flavors. I LOVE the fact that you can substitute the crispy chicken for GRILLED. I'm all about eating out, enjoying food, but also trying to select better options. Healthy eating doesn't mean boring! This place seems like an American/Korean fusion restaurant, or an Americanized version of Bon Chon. The vibe is really cozy, intimate, and chill. It's a great spot to casually hang out with friends or family. The wait for the chicken was long, BUT it was worth the wait. The food was hot and fresh. The Korean BBQ OG Grilled Chicken Sandwich - It was huge! Even though I am a petite 95 lb lady, I devoured that sandwich. The flavor wasn't an authentic Korean flavor, but it wasn't bad! It was more sour and salty for my taste. I think it would balance out more if there were no pickles, and a mixture of the kimchi carrot slaw + regular mayo based coleslaw. Szechuan Fries - The Szechuan mustard sauce is powerful and incredibly overwhelming. I do NOT recommend that sauce at all. I think if you order these fries, just OMIT that mustard sauce. I felt like all my sinuses cleared up and my eye balls were about to pop out. Dirty Fries - You can't go wrong with cheese fries. I am not a sour person, so I didn't enjoy the pickles on the fries. Our server, Brenna, was INCREDIBLE! She is the main reason why this review is getting a 5 star. She didn't know that it was basically our first time and she still gave us exceptional service. She was friendly, patient, and sweet. We ordered the Szechuan Fries because it was a free offer upon signing up for their rewards program. I told her I didn't like the mustard sauce and she offered to get us the Dirty Fries! I was like, "What?!" The fries were already free, so I didn't expect her to even offer a substitution. ALSO, for the Kid's Meal, she let us know that the side could be substituted for something else at no extra charge. If she didn't make that known to us, we would have had no idea. I'm glad she mentioned it because the boys LOVE mac & cheese, so that was perfect. Also, we were already getting fries, so it helped us to get more variety. All in all, the place is a little expensive, but I had a great time. The service was superb, the food was great, and I noticed that they are involved in the community. I love supporting businesses that give back. Thus, I would recommend trying this place out, even if it's just once!

Boy was I surprised to be seated by a hostess only to glance around to find a bar, enclosed patio and semi open kitchen. Did the meal itself differ from its fast casual counterparts? Not by much, but the offerings were more robust. I love to see pie on the menu alongside shakes, and while Mac and cheese and fries are welcome, orange chicken, Korean spices, broccoli salad, collards and heavenly eggs are a welcome change of pace. Our first trip (dine in) was about a 4-5 star experience. I waiter was not the most attentive and the food took quite awhile but the experience was positive enough for me to return. The second trip was a drive thru experience and it was...not as pleasant. Our service wasn't the best, our attendant less than enthused to be doing their job. A matter of fact, I felt like I was bothering her by ordering. While my food was fine, my sandwich came without napkins and again the food (one sandwich) took quite awhile. I'm unsure if I'll return with so many options in the area, but I'm glad I experienced them twice!

Additionally, the service representatives in the drive-thru are consistently pleasant, which I truly appreciate. Regarding the food, it is always freshly prepared, well-seasoned, and perfectly crispy. I also noticed a white powder found on all the items that has a unique, tasty flavor--almost like a salt and sugar mix--though I wasn't quite sure what it was. The only negative I've found is that the food does not seem to reheat well, even when using an air fryer. However, when eaten fresh, it is delicious. When I ordered I asked for the snapper and wings and he rung up snapper and shrimp. No worries I'll tell him to change it, told him and he said no problem. Messed up the order three times and had to remind them every time that it was the wings. My oldest got the chicken sandwich which looked amazing. Here's the second star, I asked them what came on the sandwich which was sauce and lettuce. My daughter is a plain Jane type lady so I asked for no sauce. What do we see when she opens the container? The good: Prices are good for the portions. The employees are super nice and friendly. It was late in the evening and they were crowded but you couldn't tell in their attitudes. The menu is plentiful and it was hard to choose. I waited about 30 minutes for my food but it was fine. They gave me a free koolaid for waiting. It was delicious! I froze it and enjoyed it so much. The opportunity: most of the main courses lacked seasoning. The fried pork chop was fried too hard and had no seasoning, the smothered pork chop was good and tender but no seasoning, the chicken wings, same thing. The catfish was seasoned very well and fried okra too. Overall: I ordered 4 plates: smothered pork chop with yams and fried okra. The sides were good. Macaroni and cheese, rice and gravy and cabbage was good. The green beans lacked any color or flavor. We did not eat the cornbread. Also ordered Fried pork chop with 2 sides, chicken wings with 2 sides and fried fish. It was enough food for 2 people to eat from each plate. I will go back on a different day and give them another chance. It might have been an off day for them. We loved the portion sizes. Everything I got came out to 80.00, which is excellent. They were out of a lot of things and all desserts were sold out. Have to get there early to get what you want.
