Visited 10/26/2022 A nice Historic Eating establishment in a small town. Renowned by the locals to be the Best Restaurant in Needles. Lots of homemade food to choose from on the menu. We tried a Patty Melt sadly not great but ok. Had almost no onions so not what a Patty Melt is all about but the ground beef was very tasty. The French Fries we're Excellent. I had the homemade meatloaf dinner. A large serving but I've had better. All the same it's worth a stop if in the area and a nice place to grab a bite. read more

I give this restaurant a two because the service was quick and the server very friendly. I should not have expected much when the water tasted bad, but the food was bland and tasteless. Horrible customer service. Passing by the town on our family trip, we stopped by for lunch. Waitress didn't acknowledge us none of the employees greeted us. We were standing for a good minute. Waitress passed by but did not bother seating us down. We were actually greeted by customers there and seated by them. We sat down pregnant waitress finally approaches us and her demeanor was way off, just the everything about her customer service gave us an uncomfortable feeling. Absolutely the worst pork chop of our lives. The waitress was very nice and smiled a lot. When I complain she smiled and said she was down a cook. Is that my problem. I was considering it for breakfast but after this terrible experience I would go for McDonald's instead. You can fill up at McDonalds for 5 bucks and this place is $20.00. That's crazy. Food was amazing, beer was cold. Can get busy, the waitresses run their butts off but always get you taken care of. Pros: not only is this a fun landmark to stop at, but the food is delicious. They had a vegetarian patty that tasted soooo good, and they can make any burger with the replacement patty, win win! If you are on Route 66 or near the area, this is the spot to eat at, hands down! Very kitschy , unique American style restaurant stop. Lots of Western themed trinkets and decor all around. It was pretty busy for lunch time on Labor Day Monday, so it took some time for our food. No biggie. Waitress was super sweet and nice too. We got the: 1) Deluxe Sampler: -It costs an extra $4 to get 2 mozzarella sticks and 2 jalapeno poppers. -It normally comes with 2 potato skins, 2 chicken tenders, and 3 onion rings. -A huge amount of fries, if I knew it came with so much fries, I wouldn't have gotten this with one of the entrees. -Nothing too special or to write home about this. -I'd honestly skip this dish. 2) Signature Pot Roast Skillet: -The MVP of our order. -Pot roast was tender and moist. Helped by the fact that it was drenched in gravy. -Mushrooms were just the right texture and you can never go wrong with mashed potatoes. 3) Chicken Fried Steak: -Even with the gravy, the steak was quite dry and the beef was chewy on the inside. I took a couple bites and tapped out. Recooked this at home later and it was much better and less salty. -If I was actually starving I'd be disappointed, but I spent most of the weekend in an overstuffed malaise, so I just took 85% of this dish to go. This totaled to almost $60, not worth it in my opinion. Bathrooms were clean and decent but the sinks are out in front of both of them and separate. If you're craving sit down dining on the road back home it's an okay stop, other than that, I'd just go to a fast food rest stop. read more

I've driven by this place several times on my way to and from either Laughlin or Lake Havasu. I only recently stopped here because they put in a new row of Tesla Supercharger stalls on the eastern end of the restaurant. Besides just stopping in to use their restroom, I got a table to get some breakfast while I waited for the car to finish charging. Hearty food; quick, friendly and efficient service. This was a welcome start to a long day on the road. Both our dishes were a little on the bland side but we cleaned our plates. The cheese was shredded on top of the huevos rancheros and the beans weren't warm enough to melt it. The omelet, home fries and biscuit were all a bit dry. Looking for a different spot to have breakfast, I checked Needles, California, because I was headed for needles Mountain Road. I bookmarked Wagon Wheel. I had seen it last year when I had breakfast at a different restaurant. This restaurant has a long history and is on Historic Route 66 which means more to people who are older. The place is decorated with a lot of Western type memorabilia. There is a gift shop when you enter, and on either side of the entrance are decorations and indormartion. One side has license plates from a multitude of states. On the other side, there's a white board with a list of cities and distance from Needles to the cities. I was seated at a table immediately and brought a pot of coffee and a cup. A good way to start breakfast. After looking over the menu, I had to try the "Big Mess" omelette. The omelette is called that because it's loaded with bacon, sausage, ham, cheddar cheese, onions, bell peppers, and topped with chili. Served with a choice of toast and potato, the breakfast comes out to be a hefty meal. Topped with some fresh avocado, the omelette was very good. I didn't ask for hot suace as I just wanted to enjoy it as is. Service was very good with several check backs to see if all was well and if I needed more coffee. This was a good place to stop for breakfast. Needles is less than 20 miles from Laughlin so it makes a good stop if you're on your way to Lake Havasu City or other places in this area of California. This rating is really only for dinner. Breakfast you'll have better luck with staff and good. We arrived around 6pm and tried to order soup. They were out. Then tried to order a sandwich that would come on a hoagie. Out of that too. Finally we settled on a pork chop. DRY!! Like you could blow on it and it could have blown to dust! We asked for extra apple sauce. The first of what was given was delicious. The second was some watered down can mess that she clearly had to go deep in the back to get. It was 2 huge scoops of mashed potatoes, a very large portion of meat topped with brown gravy, in turn, topped by onions and mushrooms cooked separately on the flat top. Tasty! The California Beef is a hot sandwich with lots of thinly sliced beef dipped in jus (kind of like beef on weck!), and grilled with pepper Jack and a whole canned green Chile. I really liked it! The onion rings were not house made but they were made with whole onion slices. I ate them all! The salad was icy cold. Even though the mixed greens came from a bag from the Salinas Valley (our home), they were super fresh. There was a slice of red onion and a slice of tomato, then Ranch, and then a few croutons. We had a wonderful time at this local home-town establishment. I had the salmon and my wife had the southwestern salad. They were both really good. I was delightfully surprised at the flavor of the cream sauce, and the totally acceptable salmon meat itself. The southwestern salad was very good, although kind of heavy on the iceberg lettuce and the chipotle dressing was a little spicy for our tastes. Our favorite part of the meal was our server, "Chevelle" (sp?). She is a delightful super sweet, young waitress, who was born and raised in Needles and gave us lots of insights into the town. she took wonderful care of us in this very quaint, cute rustic establishment.
