Came to Chicago to visit family and celebrate my grandma's 80th birthday! I flew in from California and there's a Wagyu House location nearby so I was excited to dine at this location. We booked a private dining experience for our party of 16. They split us up between two tables of 8 and each of us had our own personal hot pot. We had a set menu for the night and the food that came out was consistently amazing. We had a variety of appetizers ranging from fresh sashimi to uni nigiri to golden egg wagyu fried rice. The assortment of meat and seafood for the hot pot was fantastic as well. The ambience of the room was also impressive with a full 360° immersive video playing around us throughout the night. Jayden and Jack really made the experience a great one. They were so attentive and accommodating the entire time. Jack went above and beyond for so many of us individually. I didn't want a cocktail so he put my calpico drink into a martini glass with a skewered lychee so it looked just as fancy as everyone else's drinks. My sister needed her phone charged and he took it to the back to charge it for her. He even helped assist my grandpa to the restroom. All in all it was a 10/10 experience! read more

Second time at Xpot. The first was when they first opened and my husband and I just came back to try the all you can eat bbq. Check in process is still amazing and the service is great. The interior is beautiful as well. We ended up getting seated right away and then I did ask to change tables. We were sitting by the bathroom, some cleaning stuff/ mop by the sushi bar. For $88/pp plus drinks etc that is not where I wanted to sit. They switched us no problem. The waiter walked us through the menu and we placed some orders. Here is where I drop a few points. It was super unclear what we cooked and what came already cooked. The meat we ordered to cook was very much on the thicker and chewier side (I would have just preferred to go to a steak house or another Japanese/ Korean bbq place) The veggies were mediocre and a lot of the stuff was bland. Came here on a Thursday for dinner with my wife and had a great time! We both did the platinum package for the AYCE hotpot and honestly felt like it was pretty worth it. First of all the service was great; we got everything pretty fast after we ordered it and plates were taken away quickly as well after we finished something. Our server was also great with explaining the different options and giving some recommendations when we asked for it. For soup bases we got the awase dashi and the tonkotsu broths and both were pretty good. I think I prefer the awase dashi because it tasted a bit cleaner even after adding all of these different ingredients inside. The lobster in the platinum package was amazing and I highly recommend you get a bunch of lobster if you can. The A5 wagyu in the platinum package was great and so flavorful. I especially liked the A5 Miyazaki chuck eye and shank but none of them were bad obviously. Honestly unfortunately we weren't able to eat that much because it was all so rich and fatty even though it was delicious. The sushi was actually really good; the presentation may not be the best but the quality of the fish and rice was amazing and we ended up ordering a ton of sushi. We visited Wagyu House for lunch on a weekday, and while we did face a bit of a wait to get all 5 of us seated together, it was worth it. Once we were at our table, everything moved quickly. We opted for the silver menu option (note there's no specific lunch menu or pricing available). Our server, Andrew, was friendly & quick. Not only did he handle our large party efficiently, but he also provided excellent recommendations for our stay in Chicago. I'll start with this right away. Food and service was by far excellent. I've eaten at a lot of AYCE BBQ places and I would say this is probably our new favorite place. Without question the quality of meat was great. Sushi was also really good. Bone marrow was phenomenal. Service was fast and quick, that's all you can ask for. The place was modern and it made you feel like you were eating at an expensive place. But at the end of the day the reason I came there was because of the food. Now 88 dollars, listen I can sit here and say how expensive it was and question was it worth it. If you were to ask me, I'd say try it for yourself and see what the hype is. read more

I agree with Jinhee's review from 11 days ago. I recently came here with a friend after seeing a new AYCE promotion that their Instagram page was advertising. It had just became a thing, and I saw that they mentioned there were AYCE options starting at $48. I decided to make a reservation online, which, at the time of making the reservation, they only allowed you to book for the AYCE after 7pm and were limiting it to 30 tables per day. We grabbed a 7pm reservation for a Thursday night and 2 weeks later we were thrilled once we were on the way there. The hostess greeted us, asked for our reservation name, etc... and then wished my friend a Happy Birthday (as that was listed on the reservation when I booked it). Mind you, we had arrived a few minutes before 7pm (before the reservation), but we still sat about 10 minutes in the lobby or so before they sat us. Clearly they were understaffed at the restaurant since there were many open seating that I could visually see from the front lobby/host stand area. That part didn't really bother me since I've worked at restaurants before, and waiting 10 minutes after your reservation isn't that big of a deal. We were seated - given menus, and the first thing I noticed was that the AYCE cheapest option was $68 and then the platinum at $88. I didn't see anything regarding $48 like it was advertised so I asked the server and he told me that was for their lunch AYCE pricing. Odd, because there was no option on a Thursday to opt for a lunch reservation, and their Google hours (still as of 3/28) show they open at 5pm daily. That was the first red flag. Secondly, as much as we loved the friendliness of our server Rhys (Reese?), clearly the restaurant didn't communicate to him that it was my friend's birthday (which isn't his fault at all), but it's really the little things that make your experience. We could further tell that the restaurant was understaffed because he clearly had a decent amount of tables to his section so that meant ordering more meat would take longer. Mind you, we didn't order our actual meat until 40 minutes after our initial reservation and given that they only allow you a 90 minute reservation, we felt a little cheated, not gonna lie. Again, nothing against our funny and nice server! Also, there were some items on the menu such as the limited sushi items that they ran out of so we couldn't even try that even though it's advertised. We also didn't love that you can't make your own sauce like at other hot pot places. They give you their own sauce but it's like 3 dipping options (one being like a sukiyaki flavor, the other a chili powder, and not sure what the last one was), but I wanted to make it myself from a serve it yourself area. I think the option should be available to everyone if you're spending higher amounts here versus a cheaper hot pot place. The truffle fries we had ordered just tasted like regular fries by the way - nothing special. We did enjoy the chicken karaage, and the American and Australian wagyu meats were good. I didn't love all of them, but some of them stood out for sure. It's unfortunate we couldn't try any of the Japanese wagyu cuts, but we also didn't want to pay the platinum AYCE so it is what it is. Overall - not too sure how I feel about this place. Even the table across from me were very unhappy with their experience and we saw the guy ask for the check because they were fed up. Apparently their burner was low the entire time so they couldn't cook their food very quickly. One of the managers came over and begged for them to come back/try them again, but even the guy was unhappy. Don't get me wrong - it's a beautiful place, and we had a very whitty/nice server, but everything else didn't warrant a feeling for us to want to return. Lastly, it would have been nice to be sat in a different room closer to the windows by Roosevelt. We didn't love where we were sat (basically behind the host/lobby area). read more

The staff were very nice. They acknowledge my husband's birthday. Everyone told him happy birthday, and they started us with a complementary glass of champagne for the birthday boy, the ambience was very nice. Not too busy not too loud. The decor was very nice. It definitely felt like a high-end restaurant. When we were seated, we were informed of the 90 minute dining time. I'm not sure exactly what they refer to if it's just for the all you can eat portion or if it's the full experience. We began ordering appetizers. We had the wagyu sushi roll the eel sushi roll fried pork we had a tuna sashimi we had bone marrow we had kimchi we had the wagyu potstickers and more for appetizers. For the hot part portion, we ordered all the meats from the gold menu. We chose the spicy miso soup and the sweet soup to cook in. We had the beef short rib, rib eye, brisket we had the crab and we had some other types of beefs. The service was quick. Everyone was very nice and polite. Overall, I will go back and I do recommend. This place is awesome. Great food and great price. The staff was super friendly and accommodating. They were patient in answering our questions regarding the different cuts of meat, and the VIP membership. Danny is such a nice waiter who was super friendly and had great recommendations. The meats here are really nice, great marbling, taste, and a huge array of sauces. You can either do hot pot or bbq, which is fine. There is a sauce bar that is used for the hot pot but who's to stop us from using those sauces for the bbq meats. They also have the raw pasteurized egg as well which has a hint of sweetness. I got the gold set which is not too bag since my friend was a member so we received a small lil discount. It comes with one of the specialty dish per person (platinum offers unlimited) with a big selection of different meats (AYCE). The sauce bar is great. There are so many choices to mix into your bowl for the sauce. There is also a section for pickled vegetables, enoki mushroom (personal favorite), lettuce for your meats, and cut fruit as well. The black and gold interior is very aesthetically pleasing to the eye, they also have robots running around delivering food to the tables. There is a 90 minute time limit so it is important to pace yourself. read more

I went for the $68 option. The vibe here is very cool. Much more "bougie" than other hot pot places. You get an individual pot per person which is nice because no one had to fight over which broth to get or who ordered what. They were pretty strict about how many meats and appetizers you could order. only 5 at a time for meats and they came out in like strips of 3-4. The meats were nothing too extraordinary...i expected it to be "melt in my mouth" kind of feel but it just..tasted like thinly sliced hot pot meat LOL. there is no sauce bar, they give you a sauce tray of soy sauce like sauce, a peanut sauce, and some crumbled spice....i thought overall everything was so bland! no noodle option, just a "veggie assortment" which you can't pick which veggies to get so you get stuck with sliced carrots that no one wants but they won't refill the veggies for you unless someone took those damn carrots off the tray hahaha the appetizer menu was cool, the kimchi was surprisingly very good, the chicken karage was also very delicious. the wagyu gyoza was flavorful. The entrees included a ramen bowl and wagyu sandwich. I did not like either of these. the ramen bowl was so bland, i just took those noodles and threw it into my hot pot...and the best thing about the sandwich was the bread LOL the wagyu tasted like roast beef imo which was very odd. Overall, disappointed... probably wont be going back. I think happy lamb is much better and hai di lao has much much better meat quality. An ayce wagyu spot with high quality Japanese and Australian cuts, along with a beautiful interior. You have the option of choosing grill or hotpot, along with the price tier. I've been here a few times and the Gold Grill option is my personal preference. In terms of appetizers, the wagyu bone marrow stands out a lot - it is by far the largest and juiciest bone marrow I've ever had. Note, the size may vary - it was large for my first and third visit but significantly smaller for my second visit. The nigiri appetizers don't stand out to me In terms of meat, the Japanese cuts only come with the Gold and Diamond set. Note: the iconic display of wagyu on the cow only comes with the Diamond set. The meat is very tender and juicy. For hotpot, the golden chicken broth was very flavourful and rich. The service is also quite attentive. They ensure you are enjoying your meal and check up frequently. Side note: it seems like this restaurant iterates on the menu pretty frequently. There have been minor changes to the menu upon every visit. They no longer serve ice cream mochi and swapped it out for regular ice cream - I hope they will bring back the mochi. read more

My reservation was for 7:30. I happened to call earlier in the day and asked, "if I came in at 7 would that be okay?" "Absolutely" I asked for directions to the parking deck and was ready for dinner. My friends and I made a reservation to try the all you can eat hot pot. What an experience it was! Paul took care of us and he was very knowledgeable and attentive. He made sure to go through the menu with us, ask if we had any questions, made recommendations, and was constantly around to put in orders. Some places check on your then forget about you. Not here! If Paul was attending to another table there was always someone checking in on us. We chose the gold level. The appetizers we tried were delicious. The wagyu fried rice and wagyu sandwich were my favorites. The meats were all good. I wish that you could order separate items off of the seafood section, but you have to get it as a combo. What can I say you're paying for the ambiance vs the service. Now this is my experience, others may love it, I'm an honest socialite. I enjoy my food and when I pay I expect the amount being being received in service. 1. There was barely anyone in (Thursday dining). 2. We were told the menu is still being figured out (understandable) but what wasn't explained were the noodles. Now I love ramen and have been to Ramen-San several times. I also visit Joy Yee frequently. My issue is there wasn't an explanation of the different noodles type nor any picture references. 3. The menu was so small printed we definitely had to take pics and try to zoom in. Imagine doing that in a dark ambience (again cute but not functional with the foolery). 4. It took forever to get our drinks and there was barely ppl in our area, it was just confusing. 5. You do not get to grab your food from the robot it sits until the person takes it & brings it to you. So it was cute to watch them roll around but it's not like others I've seen. 6. It took forever for my noodles to come out after they brought out the meat, then it took forever for the veggies to come out once the meat arrived. Honestly for the $350 price tag it wasn't worth it. The sushi was delicious & drinks were good (when received). Again, if maybe we received quicker service & food closer to each other I would've maybe had a better experience. All the noodles were gross and nothing I was used to. The wide egg noodles was like a jelly & it was just unappetizing. I came here with my husband to celebrate our anniversary. We were fortunate enough to win a wagyu feast dinner from the restaurant's IG page. As soon as we entered the restaurant, we were wowed by the amazing decor and ambiance. The music was poppin' and it felt lively. The wagyu feast came with soo much food including wagyu sushi, grilled wagyu pieces AND wagyu for hotpot with vegetables & different broths. My husband, a wagyu connoisseur, felt that the wagyu wasn't quite A5 in the grading scale. We usually get one of the premium meat selections and a few plates of the regular cuts. I'd say the portions are pretty good. They also sometimes have beer challenges and you can win stuff! This is such a fun experience to have with a group of people. We had the 88$ hot pot experience. Didn't get too many pictures as I was mostly busy keeping up with everyone eating. The lobster and wagyu were all really good. The broths tend to get salty as they keep cooking down and that can really weigh heavy on you at the end. They have mochi for dessert so make sure to save space for it! This isn't somewhere I'd go just on a whim, but for a once in a while treat with a group of people, it's a fun time! The soup bases were good, i liked the seafood one better. However the add ins cost way more than they should have, so it is overpriced in that sense. There are places that you go to eat, and there are places that you go to experience what you eat. This is the latter. The X Pot has been on my short list of must-try places for longer than I'd like to admit, and I am so glad that I finally got here. It's located in the Roosevelt Collection shopping center, with a really easy and affordable garage for parking. 2 hours of parking will be validated, so bring your receipt with you! We had a reservation for 5pm and were seated quickly after arriving. Inside The X Pot is beautifully decorated. The ceilings are high, the light fixtures are grand, and there's ample seating. We were taken to our table by an incredibly nice and knowledgeable hostess, who let us know Alyssa would be taking care of us. Alyssa (sorry if spelling is incorrect!) was wonderful. She greeted us promptly, offered us drinks, and answered several menu questions for us. If this is your first time having hot pot OR your first time at The X Pot - definitely feel comfortable asking about anything you may have questions on so you can fully experience the meal! They were so gracious answering my questions. Both of us in our party ordered the Wagyu Feast, which allowed us to try so many different items from the menu. I added on the X Firecracker shrimp as an appetizer, as a recommendation from Alyssa, and it was crispy and light, the wasabi aioli tasted so fresh and bright, a really great dish. We also decided to try the Golden Wagyu Fried Rice and let me tell you this was such an indulgent fried rice. It was unlike any fried rice I've ever tried before, and there were so many layers of flavor! I'm dreaming about the "golden" egg, which was cooked so soft and beautifully. The Wagyu feast comes out in a couple of parts, the thin sliced brisket and ribeye for the hot pot, and a beautiful bronze bull display with the cuts that get grilled and the sushi and sashimi appetizers. There's no wrong choice here, folks. Every cut of meat melted in my mouth. It was decadent, it was rich, it was luxurious. Treat yourself here! There's lots of protein, noodle, or veggie add ons you can get for the hot pot, and several broth choices. We tried the sukiyaki (a sweet and salty broth) and the Szechuan spicy, both had incredible depth of flavor and we were not disappointed. We finished with a slice of the tiramisu crepe cake, which was a cherry on top of a perfect experience. It was silky, it was rich, I loved every bite of it. Made a reservation on a weekday for lunch. It was not too busy and there is plenty of seating inside the restaurant. We got the Gold Level for BBQ. You either choose Hotpot of BBQ and then there are different packages within that set. Was pretty satisfied with the level we chose as we got to try almost everything. One thing that I didn't like was how we were not notify when we got to the restaurant was that there would be a 90 minute time limit. Also bad on my part that I didn't look into that but I feel like someone should have told us when we sat down at the restaurant. There was no signs that I saw anywhere either. Usually for AYCE there is a 2hr limit and that is understandable but 90 minutes is not enough. I'm a fast eater and don't talk too much so I can't imagine someone eating slower and having long conversations while eating. read more

What an incredible dining experience! My friends and I were amazingly able to score primetime reservations for our party of 6 with 24-hours notice. We had to call back a few times to check on our table as we were originally only able to confirm a 10:30pm dining time. Luckily, the hostesses were very nice and able to get us seated at 7:30pm. We are so grateful to The X Pot for allowing us to experience this incredible meal during our visit to Chicago! The menu is a bit confusing. The majority of our party ordered the Wagyu Feast and it's probably the best choice if you're indecisive on what to order. The Wagyu Feast is $79pp with a minimum of two orders. It comes with complimentary soup broth and season vegetables and includes three courses: -Sushi: A5 Wagyu Nigiri & Sashimi -Grill: A5 Wagyu Short Rib + Masami Wagyu Skirt + Wagyu Cube -Hot Pot: Wagyu Platter + A5 Wagyu Brisket + Masami Wagyu Ribeye Everything was so delicious!!! I think we all enjoyed the sushi course the best - it's odd eating raw beef but the pairing and flavor was so delicious it's difficult to be distracted by that point. First off, HUGE thanks to Jimmy. Sorry this review is coming later than I anticipated, but our server Jimmy did an exemplary job serving my tables the night I went. I had to book last minute to take some guests of mine to Wagyu House for dinner and they actually upgraded us to the private dining room and it was a great experience all around. The food was plentiful (since it was AYCE) but quality was definitely top notch. In actuality, I had visited this place twice in 72 hours and both times, the food was great and consistent with the other chubby cattle properties I had been to. Wagyu House - Vanilla ice cream - Hot Pot Near Me - Chicago, Illinois

I've been meaning to check out The X Pot for a while now and finally made the trip to do so! If I could describe my experience in one word, it would be "exceptional." From the moment that we arrived to when we left, the food and service were on point and memorable. The interior has a black and gold prominent theme with some elegant light fixtures. The tables in our section had individual-sized hot pot induction cookers (one for each seat). It seems like this restaurant's specialty is wagyu. We got the following: Cold Plate: - One Bite (2 pieces): It's A5 wagyu ribeye, foie gras, caviar, apple, and a gold leaf on top that is to be enjoyed in one bite. It was a smooth, tender, and delicious bite! Hot Pot: - Bone broth and golden chicken broth: Both broths were good. The bone broth was especially good for the brisket and vegetables. The golden chicken broth was pretty rich and heavy whereas the bone broth was lighter in flavor. (Note: the golden chicken broth is $5 extra.) - A5 Wagyu Brisket: It's recommended to cook this for 5-7 seconds, but the server recommended 5 seconds. This brisket was so good that it did not need any sauce at all. The meat was flavorful enough by itself after dipping in the tomato broth. - Seasonal Vegetable Combo: This was complimentary with the A5 Wagyu Brisket menu item and was great in both broths. It was a nice variety that included different mushrooms, wood ear, napa cabbage, etc. Others: - Masami Supreme Wagyu Ribeye: The wagyu ribeye was so tender and well-seasoned. It came with asparagus, ume sauce, and chimichurri sauce. My favorite was the chimichurri sauce for dipping, but the wagyu ribeye was fantastic without sauce too. - Once Upon a Time Cocktail: I loved that it had yuzu lemon juice, lychee syrup, and rose water. Yuzu and lychee are some of my favorites, so to have them in a cocktail was a delight. It's overall a sweet cocktail. I definitely would come back! Note: If you park in the garage, it's free for two hours if you get your parking ticket validated here after dining! We BARELY made it with a few minutes left going out the garage. read more
