We came here after a World Cup soccer match, looking for a restaurant instead of eating at the mall's food court. The food was good, although a bit overpriced for the quality. Most of the staff was very friendly and welcoming, especially the manager. We arrived about two hours before closing and asked if we could sit at the bar to watch the next soccer match after the hostess told us there were no available tables. What was confusing was that the same tables that were empty when we arrived remained empty the entire time and were still vacant when we left as the restaurant closed. Overall, the food and most of the staff were enjoyable, but the experience at the front of the house could definitely be improved. read more

I had been wanting to try the Oxtail pizza for a while when I used to pass the Edgewater location so I traveled to Englewood. I ordered the oxtail pizza and it was delicious!!! The crust is thin with a sesame sprinkled crust and it was so good that I even ate every single bite of it, which is unusual for me. The oxtail was so flavorful and rich with the cheeses (mozzerella, Parmesan and goat cheese), meat, hot honey and spinach. The ladies asked if I wanted cilantro on top, which was the perfect add of even more flavor. They were so sweet and welcoming. Parking in downtown Englewood can be tough but I took the side street behind the row of stores and found the back entrance to Wahizza. I'm not sure if that's allowed but it made the pizza pick up a very quick and convenient experience. I plan on eating in next time bc the inside was so cute and looked very comfortable. Both personal pies. For our appetizer, Fried Calamari was our appetizer. We ordered the Orange soda from the Restaurant too. Fried Calamari, came with a sweet, chili sauce and marinara sauce. The calamari didn't taste as fresh - We were wondering could this be frozen before preparation? I love Margherita pizza. It was the first time I had pizza with sesame seeds on the crust. Sorta different, not sure how I feel about it. The pizza was too oily, more basil could be added, the sauce was not as strong as compareable as to other Margherita pizza. It wasn't until after we dined here that my husband and I learned that Wahizza Pizza had its shining moment in the social media spotlight for their unconventional offerings. Personally, I'm happy I was ignorant to the hype because I think it would have left me disappointed. Wahizza prides itself on fusion pies that incorporate ingredients and flavors familiar to a Dominican palate. Since we were clearly newbies, we asked for recommendations at the counter and ended up ordering the classic Wahizza pizza, which comes topped with chicken, cabbage, tomatoes, cilantro, corn, onions, and their chimi-sauce, which seemed to be some sort of a mayo-based sauce. See what I mean about unconventional? Never would I have thought to put cabbage and cilantro atop a pizza pie, but it was delicious. We loved the combination of flavors and felt decently light after polishing off an entire pie, maybe because we hadn't consumed the usual bread-sauce-cheese trio that we would've had at another pizzeria. My slight misgiving was in calling this a pizza. As a native Northeasterner, I have stereotypically strong opinions on what makes pizza good, and if I were craving a true blue pizza meal, I'm not sure the chimni pizza would've quite hit the spot. That said, the more traditional pies are offered here, and I'm looking forward to giving them a try in the future. Inside, the restaurant is homey and comfortable. I hate to do this to a restaurant, but I have to do the review based on my real experience. We went in during the week and I was really excited to try Wahizza after seeing the fantastic reviews for Dominican pizza. We went to the Front, were not greeted by the person who was going to take our order, but shrugged it off and ordered. I wasn't in the mood for pizza, but my husband ordered the Chimi pizza and I ordered a Chicken Parm. We were the only people in the restaurant. We then sat outside to wait and eat our meal. 30 minutes later, we had not yet heard anything about our food or seen the woman inside who took our order. I went inside to check on the status of the order. She said it would be out soon. About 8 to 10 minutes later, my chicken Parm came out, but still no pizza. She said it was coming. About 15 minutes later the pizza came. I took one bite of the chicken Parm and it just was not good. When the pizza came, we just asked for a to-go box, because at this point we had been waiting for an hour for our food. The food did not look appetizing at all, my husband took a bite of the pizza when we got home, and shook his head "No." We threw it out at home. We threw out both the chicken Parm and the pizza. I'm not sure if the spot was having an off night when we went, but we will not return. Also, the lady at the front and the cook went back and forth regarding orders he was preparing, which was not professional in front of customers. Total Bummer! read more

Stopped by this place after seeing some promotions for it and I was not disappointed. First off it's a really nice restaurant albeit small. The place was packed! I figured it was gonna be good because every table was full and the walk ins never stopped. I spoke with the owner and he was a very nice guy. Recommended the Chimi pizza and that was definitely appreciated. As far as the pizza goes it was very good. The chimi pizza I will definitely be back to get again. It was full of flavor, great crust, and loved the sauce. Tried the Hawaiian pizza as well, this isn't a favorite of mine but I loved the sesame seeds on the crust. Everyone who tried it who likes that type of pizza liked it. The garlic knots were also outstanding. I will definitely be back here to try some other items and have the chimi pizza again as well. When I lived in Washington Heights, I absolutely love getting the sandwiches from the Chimi trucks, now all this pizza has ground beef instead of shredded chicken it was just as good tasted like home to me! Came to Wahizza originally for the Yelp Elite event and was beyond impressed that I had to come back! No food is kept out like most pizza places. Everything is made fresh and to order and wow it makes such a difference. Their pizza is a nice thinner crust. I am obsessed with their margarita pie and garlic knots. So obsessed that I refuse to share my margarita and always order my own! So much flavor and freshness. The garlic knots are the perfect amount of crisp. Must try! We finally tried this pizza place after seeing so many posts on social media. We had the oxtail pie and chimi pie. The staff was absolutely friendly, the shop is clean, and the pizza...wow. The chimi pie is delicious, perfect amount of sauce and toppings. If you've had a chimi this is just like eating a chimi but on a pizza crust. A crust which is perfect, thin and crispy. The oxtail pie is a must have. The oxtail is tender and seasoned to perfection. The cheese and toppings are perfect! Went here twice to try the chimi pizza and the oxtail. The service was great, and they were very accommodating to our party because their space is limited and I appreciate that. With that being said as much as I loved the chimi pizza I have to say the combination of all the ingredients made it a bit salty for my taste. Couldn't pin point what was it that made it salty, and wish I could to see if you could taste it too. The oxtail pizza was on the opposite of the spectrum. The oxtail itself was very sweet. I was a little skeptical about the oxtail because the Combination of oxtail, ricotta cheese and honey sounded crazy but it was official! It says they are famous for their chimi pizza so had to try that and also decided to try the Dominican pie. Both we quite good - lots of flavor. Different than other pizzas for sure. The crust is like Italian/sesame bread - very yummy. The orange sauce was REALLY good. All the flavors work well together for a very flavor packed pie.
