The hush puppies were not very good in my opinion, but again I'm blaming it on being towards the end of the night. The coleslaw was decent, not the most flavor. The savior of all was the 'fried fish Friday' deal, 1/2 lb of fried fish for $10, which is a great deal, but made me assume it wouldn't be the best. I was so disappointed in our dinner tonight. We had to wait to be seated as they don't apparently have host staff on Sundays. You have to go to the bar and wait for a bartender to point you to a table. We waited a while fir a server to bring menus, and when she brought our drinks, I sent back my tea as it was bitter. I ordered us a spinach dip for a starter, and we ate two bites because it was watery and not very good. I ordered the bisque and a salad. Both were good. My wife ordered boiled shrimp, and a half dozen raw oysters on half shell. The shrimp were good, but we sent the oysters back because they didn't have any crackers. Overall, the lackluster service and poor attention to detail (bad tea, bad spinach dip, lack of crackers) all mean we won't be returning. read more

So glad we stopped here for dinner while traveling! It's tucked away, but spacious and warm inside with lots of wood decor. The staff were super friendly and our waiter was really attentive. I had lunch here with a client on a quiet Monday late morning (about 11:30). The service was good and the food was pretty good. I mean, I definitely had better, but that dies not mean that it was not an enjoyable lunch. I ended up going with the blackened grouper sandwich with creamed collard greens. My business client went with the jambalaya. For the price maybe there could have been a bit more food, but all in all, it was not bad. The restaurant is down a quiet side street that leads basically to this restaurant and what looks to be a closed hotel. It is just off of Interstate 10, so if you are traveling and want a good meal but not wanting to stray too far off of the interstate, this would be a good option. The atmosphere is 5 stars but everything else from the service, to the taste to the price is 2 stars at best. My family was road tripping from Texas to Florida and stopped here for Sunday lunch on the last day of our drive. There were 2 servers working at 1pm and so everything was very slow. The kids Mac and cheese is $6.99 for about 3 spoon fulls of bites, I couldn't believe how small the "bowl" was. And the catfish was $15 for 1 piece of fish and then of course they cover the plate in more French fries than you could eat to make it look like it's worth your money. By the time we were done eating and ready for our check, we waited about 15 minutes for her to come around and then finally just went to the bar and asked to pay out so we could get back on the road. Overall, it was a solid lunch at a good price. The waitress kept my coke refilled and I appreciated that. Went again for dinner with family. I had fish and "chips", exchanging the chips for grits. The fish was Swai and I would not have ordered it had I known in advance. The grits were dry and inedible. The bisque was wonderful again but they only had a bowl - for $12. I was expecting a cup but I didn't ask. My niece ordered a shrimp dish with rice. The shrimp was a bit dry. I'm not sure if the have scampi on the menu but that would have been an improvement. Some family was visiting from Kansas and they were craving seafood so I decided to give Wahoo Seafood a chance since the dishes I see on their Instagram looked amazing. I decided to call ahead and reserve a table for seven by phone. I did not have a very pleasant interaction by phone. It was confusing in that whoever answered laughed and said they only take reservations for tables of eight. I don't know if there is a rule I am ignorant about but I only wanted to have a smooth, stress free dinner. I've gotta be honest with you, I almost chose a different place. We drove a good 20 minutes to get there. Once we arrived, I didn't bother mentioning the "reservation" due to fear of being laughed. What can I say, that's what it felt like when I called. There were two hostess who greeted us. The first one seemed to be managing and told the second hostess to sit us at the 10 seat table. The second hostess started to debate with her about possibly getting busy and saving the table for a bigger party. At this point, I must have been hangry. I'm not going to lie, I thought about leaving. However, I felt the embarrassment the first hostess felt at being questioned in front of us. The first hostess stood her ground and the second hostess proceeded to listen to her and seated us. That was the end of the unpleasantness. Our server was amazing. She was very kind and patient and gave a 10/10 service. She was also very patient with us because we took our time looking over the menu. Between having two children (10 and 3) and chatting away, I cannot be more grateful with her excellent treatment. When we had our food delivered, it was hot and delicious. It was delivered by two different people. Everything tasted fresh and I cannot believe how amazing the Catfish was. That may have been the surprise of the evening in reference to food. The amount was more than enough and I don't believe anything was left. We probably ate too much because everything was that delicious! We had plenty of check backs from our server, always making sure we had enough to drink and took away trays that were empty. We also had a couple of people, maybe managers, asking how everything was. All in all, FOOD WAS AMAZING. When my husband and I got in the car, he asked if we could come back again. I thought about it and decided, the food is worth it. The unprofessional phone interaction (forgot to mention I heard laughter in the background after I tried making a reservation) and the hostess trying to give us a, idk, smaller table? and questioning the hostess organizing the placement, I could have done without. A hidden gem with a solid seafood meal and a super attentive waiter made our experience a great one. It started out a little rocky when the hostess sat us in the large dining area with live music playing. Normally, this wouldn't be an issue but I was more in for hearing my dining mates. I asked that we be moved, and was immediately seated in a better location with no issues. Anyway, as a staple, at any seafood restaurant, I always get fried shrimp, it's how I gauge seafood joints I suppose... The shrimp (12) were cooked as good as any I have had in comparable priced restaurants in the area. The fries and hush puppies were plenty added to my side salad and meal to fill my belly. Meh. Had always heard their name in the mix but never a solid "yes" or "no" I suppose the image I had was a bit more upscale, a seafood house, not exactly casual but not upper end either. Well, we got neither. Place is run down a bit, dirty walls in the booths, floors were filthy, tables need some serious love as well. Servers are a bit shabbily dressed and not particularly well trained, would offer it just feel like their hearts are quite in it. The prices reflected a bit more than we got, that is for certain. Smoked fish dip was decent, something more imaginative than tortilla chips might have been nice. I got a boil, again meh, not bad but would have like to have said something more than "not bad". Fried oyster were poorly. breaded and over-fried to boot. I don't know, has a sports bar vibe, a college sports bar vibe, nothing spectacular. A few TV's, lots of beer signs, I guess, in all honesty, I simply expected more. Service a bit below average, food, at best, average, not a very clean or well kept place, a "D" for this visit.
