Best Wahoo's! I've dined at most of their locations in and around the Long Beach/Huntington Beach area and this is the one I always come back to. Their service is always friendly and helpful. The restaurant is big with a nice patio for outside dining. They have a wonderful salsa bar with many varieties of salsa and they always have lemon and lime wedges. Other locations aren't doing the citrus wedges. I'm a fan of their mild grilled fish taco "citrus slaw" style. It's a nice combination of the fish with that tangy slaw. I also love the basic chips and salsa. The chips are always fresh tasting and have a nice coating of tajìn on them making them even more appetizing! This is something the others aren't doing as well. Giving one star because of the nice employees. However today is the last day I will visit this location. Each time we've gone it gets worse and worse. When I got my food my plate was not clean. My food was absolutely disgusting. Everything was cold. The carne Asada tasted sour like it went bad. The carnitas also had an odd taste to it. We spent almost $50 for two people and I ended up taking a few bites of mine and could not eat the rest because it was so awful. Waste of money. read more

Friendly and fast customer service. The food was served in great portions and well balanced across all items. Both the chicken and steak plates are delicious. The meat is cooked just right and the side items like the rice is perfectly cooked. There's a salsa bar and multiple options to choose from. Oh dear Wahoos, how do I love thee? Let me count the ways. I love thee from the blackened chicken tacos and Mr Lees and Shredder sandwich... First off let me preface this long overdue review and note that I have been a lover of Wahoos for decades. I used to work and live near the Costa Mesa locations and have been a frequent visitor to many of the locations over the years. This particular location is interesting. The outside sign does not really look like the others, the font is all the same but it is white and threw me a bit. I was pleasantly surprised from the get go on how well the cooks here nailed the chicken at every visit. I absolutely love the blackened chicken tacos with spicy white beans and white rice. Mr Lees on the side adds that fire that I love so much. When I have had the tacos recently, I go for the Shredder sandwich with fries. The avocados mixed with the chicken and once again, Mr Lees to liven it up. Service here is amazing, as in all of the Wahoos. Cleanliness on point. Another small point to clear up. Wahoos is NOT only about fish tacos. Of course they have them, but so many other options are available to satisfy all. Hope you love it as much as I always have. I've been going to Wahoo's for many years now and was excited when they opened a location near me. It's located on very busy cross streets of Los Alamitos Blvd and Katella Ave. The building was a former Burger King. The setup inside this Wahoo's is pretty cool. There is a small bar area for beer with a few beers on tap. There is a small salsa bar area too. I've been to 4-5 other Wahoo's and don't remember seeing these areas at those locations. There is a cool patio seating area which will be nice for those summer nights. One issue is the line system is a bit weird since there's not enough room to line up. It's easy to accidentally cut in line as you don't know where the line starts. Food quality is very good as expected. Recently tried the Chi tacos and they are a fusion taco with teriyaki beef or chicken with a kimchi type of slaw. This was pretty good but needs a little kick to it. I typically get a 1 or 2 item combo. I've tried different tacos and enchiladas and all were good. The spicy white beans are the way to go. I also like getting the chips and salsa. Sometimes waiting for your food to go gets a little long but I already know this so no bother. read more

Love Wahoo's and the Los Alamitos location is great! The Carne Asada bowl is my go-to; loaded with tender, well seasoned meat. So good. Can't wait for the bar to open again; they have a great beer selection for me to enjoy with my meal. My 3 kids are huge fans of this Wahoo's too. They especially love the fish tacos and kid's chicken bowl. I've been coming to wahoos for years, and i just realized I never wrote a review. Parking is not a problem here considering they have there own lot. They offer indoor and outdoor seating. Mask are required upon entering. The menu itself super easy to understand and if you need help the staff is super knowledgeable and helpful. Drinks are self served which I love. I'm a basic eater so I ordered 2 grilled fish tacos with slices of avocado, delicious and gone within minutes. I also ordered a side of fries, fresh and crispy. My husband the not so basic eater ordered 2 grilled fish tacos with citrus slaw, white rice (no pico) and spicy beans (not spicy at all). He demolished his plate in minutes. This place used to be great. I don't know what happened. My wife and I were SO EXCITED when a Wahoo's opened up down the street from us a few years ago. We ate there regularly. I don't know if it's under new management or what, but the quality of everything has gone steadily downhill. Now it's an awful experience every time, and we're done. It's sad. Some examples: Not Listening: My wife can't eat dairy, and every time we order, we say no cheese several times. When we order online, we put it in all caps in several places. They put cheese inside her burrito or taco every. single. time. She can't eat it, and has to eat something else. We've sent them correspondence about it and never received a response. They always put utensils in the bag, even though I tell them not to every time. We mark it in the online order (it's a button you can check) and they still do it every. single. time. They asked my name for a phone order and I said "Dave". They asked again, several times, and I said "Dave. It's short for David." They wrote "babe" on the ticket. I mean, thanks for the compliment, but who thinks that's someone's name? Is it 1924? They obviously don't listen and have stopped all customer service training. Quality: They took my favorite menu item away, the 1988 burrito, at least on Postmates/Uber Eats, and replaced it with the Outer Reef burrito, which is terrible. Every other thing we get is wrong and not what we ordered. Every. Single. Time. For some reason, they took the sign down and replaced it with janky looking thing using comic sans font. Who uses that for their sign? And why, when you have a perfectly good logo? Is this an email from my grandma in 1997?It's like they're trying to purposely look low quality in every aspect. Wahoo's fish tacos never disappoints. The flavors are fresh and clean. Never muddled with processed food, just clean fresh tastes as if you were to dice up the food yourself. The fish taco is a staple that I default to and the salsa/Pico de Gallo is my favorite. The white rice is so good but sadly it's so high in calories. I splurge every once in a while and eat it all. Can't go wrong with the shrimp burrito either. I always stick to the 1988 classic preparation of tacos and burritos. I like the cabbage pairing rather than the lettuce. read more

As a resident in Los Alamitos for several decades now, I have watched this location change from Burger King to Preveza Greek cuisine and now finally to Wahoo's Fish Taco. When I heard about the Wahoo's coming up, I was HYPED. This area was missing a fast casual seafood/Mexican spot and this place checks all the boxes. We went in yesterday on the their first official day open to the public and it was obvious that the HYPE was real. Line was practically out the door and almost all the tables were full. When we approached the cashier, the manager took our order and he was very helpful! We hadn't been to Wahoo's in over 10 years so he refreshed our memories and guided us through the menu. He was very patient and honest about what to order. We ended up with 2 wet burritos - Mr. Lee's SCReaM'n Chicken burrito covered in green sauce and the Outer Reef Burrito with mild chicken covered in red sauce. Both were good but the red sauce was better than the green sauce. They did forget to add the avocado that we requested but the server promptly brought a bowl to us when we brought it to her attention. Overall, the service was very impressive and the food was decent 8/10 . I'm looking forward to trying their fish and shrimp next time which is what they're known for! Welcome Wahoo's! read more

Wahoo's is good, but I just wanted to note that when you order through Yelp/Grub Hub it's more expensive than just calling in the order for pick-up. The prices are marked up in the Yelp/Grub Hub online ordering. My order would have been $17, but I paid $$21, and I added a $3 tip which was not given to Wahoo, because I noticed it wasn't on the receipt. Fun place! I am happiest with the dining experience that I get at this, Los Alamitos location of Wahoo's. I've eaten at many of them throughout Southern CA. (The first one I tried was in Santa Monica, many years ago.) One of the things that is nice about this chain is the option to have brown or white rice. Also, you may have white Cajun-style beans, or black beans. I was doing Paleo Bowls for awhile. I don't see that on the menu since COVID hit, but there is still the Protein bowl option. I also like the Banzai Shrimp or their Enchiladas with red sauce. If you ever do try their chips and salsa, they put some tasty spices on the chips, and their onion rings are excellent. (Less healthy, but definitely delicious!) I love the sporty decor here. Benches made out of snowboards are definitely a novelty! I notice something new every time I go- like, an autographed Dirty Heads poster in the bathroom, or a funky new sticker on the wall. They close by 7:30 on weekdays, so be sure to plan accordingly. read more

Today, I ordered a shrimp 1988 and salmon slaw tacos a la carte, and they were SO SO delicious!! It was by far one of the best Wahoo tacos that I have eaten. So good that I got more food to go.
