I'm super excited to have Jireh Hawaiian Barbecue near my home it's basically walkable for me. I've only been once, but I loved it right away. The first thing that stood out was the portion sizes. The mini Hawaiian barbecue chicken bowl gave me way more food than I expected for a really good price. The restaurant was also clean, spacious, and inviting, and the staff were genuinely super friendly. I ordered the mini BBQ chicken bowl along with spam musubi and mac salad. The mac salad was phenomenal and it honestly reminded me of being in Hawaii. The spam and barbecue chicken were also delicious and had that same feel. First time visiting and ordered the family meal deal which comes with 3 meats, macaroni salad, and white rice. I ordered chicken katsu (super crispy), bbq beef, and chicken teriyaki. I ordered the mini beef plate lunch with one scoop rice, scoop Mac salad and cabbage. The beef was tender and not chewy it was well marinated but the fat was not skimmed off before cooking as it left a gritty texture. The Chicken Katsu bowl was a nice size, sadly the katsu sauce was not a traditional katsu sauce, it was sweet and sour sauce. It needs a bottle of Bulldog katsu sauce. Place was clean and service was great. Value was worth the stop. My homemade Katsu sauce: cup ketchup (more to taste) ¼ cup lightly packed brown sugar 3 tablespoons shoyu 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce 1/2 tablespoon oyster sauce Simmer medium heat for a few minutes and let cool. I visited this establishment with my mother for evening rations. We ordered at the counter and then we chose where to sit. I had to ask for napkins as napkins were not readily available... not good. I ordered a cheeseburger, french fries and a small Dr. Pepper. The burger initially came without cheese as I asked for no condiments besides cheese. Apparently a misunderstanding. The burger had some sort of strange taste and while edible it was not great. The french fries were satisfactory but I've had better. Free refills were available for soft drinks and I got one. There was one all gender washroom that had paper towels available. The attitude of the person taking our orders was good so credit where credit is due. Finally tried this place out and I was not disappointed. I love Loco Moco's and I'm always in the search for the best one. This thing weighed a ton. First, let me start by saying I wanted this restaurant to be good. I truly did. I've lived in this neighborhood for 25 years, and having a Hawaiian barbecue restaurant nearby would be a wonderful addition to our local dining options. On Sunday night, my wife and I decided to give it a try. It had only been open a few days, so we went in with high expectations. We ordered two different meals so we could share them. She ordered the Kalua pork, and I ordered the Hawaiian BBQ beef. Both meals came with white rice and macaroni salad. The white rice was fine--it's hard to mess up white rice. Unfortunately, the macaroni salad tasted almost entirely like mayonnaise. It lacked seasoning and flavor, making it feel like I was simply eating spoonfuls of mayonnaise. Then we got to the Kalua pork. It looked fantastic and was exactly what you'd expect to see at a quality Hawaiian barbecue restaurant. The problem was that it had virtually no flavor. It was bland and disappointing. What really convinced us not to return was the Hawaiian BBQ beef. At first glance, it also looked great. Unfortunately, every single bite--from the first to the last--was full of gristle. It was chewy, tough, and unpleasant. I couldn't even finish it. Quality Hawaiian BBQ shouldn't be like that. If you're thinking about trying this place, do so at your own risk. We didn't try the chicken or any of the other menu items, so I can't comment on those. However, we did order what I consider to be two of the most popular Hawaiian dishes, and neither was acceptable. I genuinely wanted this restaurant to succeed because our neighborhood could really use a great Hawaiian BBQ spot. Sadly, based on our experience, we won't be returning. I should have listened to the other reviews. Tried it out because I live in rossmoor and like to support the local businesses, food was very very bad( see pictures) I got their combo plate, they charged $19 for it. I substituted the chicken for more short rib. Got the plate home and dug into the most salty and over seasoned "beef" with a gritty seasoning, worst gristle filled beef ever! Inedible, the short rib was flavorless and very tough. I don't know if it was the young kids behind the counter just not caring about food quality or if they really expected the business to succeed selling this stuff. If you want Good hawaiian bbq i'd recommend yaho grill in cypress. Thought about going back in for a refund but i'll take the loss and give you all a fair warning. read more
