Wow, wow, wow! If I could give 6*, I would. The food was amazing. They serve in to-go compostable dishes. Great views. Inside and outside seating. A Thai woman and her daughter run this wonderful place. They grow some of their ingredients on-site. I tried the Stir Fry Green Bean Red Curry ("Hot") and the Pineapple Fried Rice. Both were outstanding!! The flavors were popping! Loved the fresh ingredients and great spicies. ** I've been all over the world to include Thailand. I've tried Thai food in well over 50+ countries. This was a top 5 location (top 3?). If you are on Hawaii, it is worth adding this to your list of stops. If you are going south from Kona, especially to Green Beach, then definitely stop here. Warning from the owner and reviews, she is one person, thus one cook. If they are busy, you'll have to wait....it is worth the wait! She even recommended calling ahead to place an order. Apparently, they they get busy for dinner. I really wish I could go back.

They have a little grocery store (very mini). Kind service. Restroom in back! That's a plus! No dogs allowed :( Great view from outdoor picnic tables and a shade covering! Let's see how this good tastes! I've heard great things! I ordered the green curry with chicken and pumpkin! My favorite

Some of the best Thai food I've ever had. Super fresh ingredients and very personalized service. Ordered the drunken noodle, glass noodle, Tom Kai soup, red curry, pineapple fried rice, and fresh guava juice. The guava juice was sweeter than I expected, not sure if the guava here is just naturally insanely, sweet, or they added some sweetener to it. Other than that, every dish was amazing. Everything is made from scratch and made to order so expect to wait around 30 to 45 minutes for your food. They have a variety of drinks as well as lilikoi cheesecake for dessert (even though I didn't try it). Would highly recommend stopping here for a meal if you are on the southern part of the big island.

Such a great little restaurant from top to bottom. Family owned/operated - the girl behind the counter was sweet and helpful and said her mom was the one in the back doing the cooking. The outdoor seating area has a great view, and you can see where they grow a lot of the ingredients right there! We ordered the pineapple fried rice and drunken noodles. Both were delicious! The drunken noodles were very spicy! You could absolutely taste the freshness in the ingredients. There was another group dining at the same time we were and all the food they ordered looked delicious as well. Overall, I couldn't recommend this place enough and would absolutely return!

Food, service, ambiance. Great experience with great food and a mother daughter combo making your food and serving you.

I have eaten Thai food all around the world including Thailand but I've got to say for not being in Thailand this is one of the best spots that I've ever eaten at that is exactly what I get when I go to Thailand super fresh prices are extremely reasonable for being in Hawaii the service is outstanding the young lady at the front counter was smiling and bright and the older lady behind the curtains so to speak doing all the chopping and making I didn't get a chance to meet her but I made sure to tell the cashier that I appreciated her work and everything was delicious I highly recommend this place either stop here on your way going to Kona or Hilo Just come out this way and have lunch or dinner it is so so very good you cannot go wrong and takes him home with you for later. I had the papaya salad and the deep fried spring rolls. She also takes the time to grow her own food in the back of the restaurant how cool is that.

Hit the lunch spot on our way to the Green beach. Need energy to hike that trail. Nice family owned restaurant. We had to wait 30 minutes but worth it with the view. Covered picnic seating overlooking the hillside below. Ordered pad sew ew, pineapple fried rice, and stir fried veggies with brown rice.

Everything tastes very homemade and fresh. Dishes are made to order, which makes the wait MUCH longer. Good pit stop for food. There's not much else around here and this is one of the better options. Tip: To avoid the long wait, order ahead!

They have ample parking out front, and as this is situated in a slightly more rural part of the island, I wouldn't expect them to be extra extraordinarily busy. They are also right across the street from a renowned bakery for Malasadas (donuts with no hole). Service was quick and kind throughout our stay. Huli Huli Chicken (7/10) - they give a massive entire half chicken! As expected, the thigh and wings were super tender. I will know, that this chicken breast was probably one of the most tender chicken breast that I've ever had. SOOO JUICY!!! the meat itself was super succulent and each bite was very tasty. - my only complaint is regarding the flavor. Huli Huli chicken is usually barbecued outside, with a pretty crisp and dark exterior. However, this chicken's exterior was quite pale, and I'm unsure if they grilled it. It's possible that it is a baked chicken. Overall, the spot is unique because it claims it's the southern most restaurant of the USA. The Huli Huli chicken is super tender, like the exterior signature barbecue flavor that other local spots have.

They have a TV showing historical clips of the Japanese immigrants who moved to Hawaii. We learned so much just dining there! The servers were very nice and friendly. They even offer free, hot green tea. It wasn't crowded when we went there for lunch. The server said we could order from the dinner menu too. The restaurant is decorated with a bunch of old family photos. It's not a fancy food location, but a place that is in the locals' hearts. Also, it's not standard Japanese American food, so don't come in looking for rolls and such! Instead, they serve fresh, perfectly prepared Japanese food with a Hawaiian twist, favorites like saimin and shrimp tempura. The large saimin ($16.17) was delicious and really hit the spot. Toppings were Spam, eggs, and veggies. Simple, but tasty! Shrimp tempura appetizer ($14.85) was a pretty large sized dish. The pieces have a lot of crunchy batter and the kids loved it. It was a bit greasy, but that's to be expected. DH got a Oyako Donburi with sashimi ($21.93). Wow, the sashimi was truly amazing! So tender, it just melts in your mouth. The eggs were cooked with bamboo pieces which kinda threw DH off. I liked them, but DH would've preferred it without. The flavor is sweet/salty and pretty mild. It came with miso soup and some pickles. Parking is right in the front and backs into the main road. It can be spicy getting out if traffic is heavy. They don't have a lot of bathrooms, so there might be a wait. Those are the downsides. Otherwise, a wonderful local place to eat!

Walked in and it's like instant comfort--sweet bread smell hitting you before you even figure out what you want. Grabbed a few items and every single one delivered. Soft, fresh, just the right amount of sweetness without feeling heavy. One of those spots where you take a bite, pause, and go "ok yeah... this is why people talk about this place." What I liked most is it didn't feel like a tourist trap--it felt real. Good energy, quick service, and plenty to choose from whether you want something sweet or just a quick snack for the road. Definitely one of those must-stop spots when you're cruising the island... just don't plan on leaving with only one thing.

The only items in their pastry case was two types of turnovers, bread pudding, normal malasadas with no fillings, and "Bismark" malasadas, malasadas filled with white cream and topped with chocolate. None of the fruit filled malasadas available. Like most of the guests in line, we were frustrated at the availability, or lack thereof. At the register, we overheard the woman behind the counter confirm that most of the store's inventory had been cleared out by locals who had placed large phone-in orders beforehand. In my opinion, this shortage could have been avoided: if large orders are placed well in advance, it seems like they could have planned better for their in-store guests by making more inventory? In any case, the sugar covered malasada ($2.29) I had was fine, but not mind-blowing. Definitely not something I would go out of my way to try out, nor something I would wait in a line line for. The malasada had obviously been sitting around all day in the case and didn't taste especially fresh. If anything, the malasada was a little on the dense side. Out of curiosity, I also got a block of their bread pudding ($3.29), and my goodness, that thing is a brick. The bread pudding here is dense! The bread pudding is loaded with raisins. If you're a raisin fan, you'll absolutely love the bread pudding. For everyone else, the raisins make the bread pudding a bit too sweet. Overall, my visit to Punalu'u Bake Shop was pretty disappointing. I would unlikely stop by again if I'm visiting this part of the island.

That flexibility is always appreciated, and it never felt like we were limited just because we don't eat pork. We didn't dine in, but I noticed they have a really interesting cocktail menu, which fits the island vibe perfectly! To be honest, my husband wasn't expecting much, pizza isn't exactly what you come to Hawaii for, right? That's what we assumed. But wow, we were wrong. About 40 minutes later, back at our hotel (after a shower and everything), we finally sat down to eat, and the pizza was still amazing. Crunchy crust, great texture, and full, balanced flavors. We're no longer on vacation, but we still talk about this place and easily rank it in our top three food spots from our Big Island trip, which says a lot, because we're serious about pizza.
