The thing that also completes this is the sauce - I got the Chipotle & Cilantro Crema. Both are amazing and fresh. This is my favorite spot in the LA area to grab a breakfast burrito!! It's a little more expensive than your typical spot, but the quality of the ingredients more than makes up for it in my opinion. My go-to order is the grass-fed carne asada burrito. It's flavorful, perfectly cooked tender beef, and made with real care. And don't even get me started on the sauces. If you want to try the infamous breakfast burrito at Wake and Late, I recommend to come to the Pasadena location as it is safe, clean, and very spacious! I tried their breakfast burrito to see what the hype was about and added $6 grass fed steak (your other meat option is bacon for the same price and that steak they did not skimp!! More bang for your buck with steak). I can see why people rave about this breakfast burrito. Although small for $18, it has the perfect tortilla crunch that is still chewy and the ingredients were very fresh/lighter than the usual heavy breakfast burrito you feel eating after. The crispy, salty hash browns were the KEY to their breakfast burrito I have to say. It packed the perfect crunch and saltiness flavor that paired well with the creamy avocado, soft scrambled eggs, melted cheddar cheese, and the grass fed steak. If you order online for pickup, their website is kinda weird like when you schedule it, is it scheduled for pickup at that time or scheduled for placing the order at that time? WE found out that its for the pickup of the order, but there was some consternation because tehre was no way to verify as the website doesn't say and you can't call anyone. Also when you pick up the burrito here it goes into a food locker. The burrito is delicious but oh so precious and tiny, its kinda brutal for around $20. I guess if you just get the plain breakfast burrito its $12 which is a bit more palatable. They use higher quality ingredients so tehre is that. 1 burrito is aight, kinda satiety 2 burritos is probabaly 2 more much. I don't typically finish my meals and usually have leftovers but here I didn't. I ate the whole thing and the burrito is about the size of my hand (which is small- like the size of an iPhone 16 pro). The size of their burritos used to be perfect, a little on the small side (IMO), but I always justified it by the quality of their ingredients. Recently, I ordered delivery and it was terrible! First off, the food took almost 1.5 hours, which is unacceptable. After that, I noticed that their burritos have gotten even SMALLER than they were before. It literally felt like I was just eating a tortilla without anything inside of it. Disappointing! Finally, it cost about $85 for two burritos, two lattes and one additional item. No, thank you! So not to be dramatic or anything but if I could pick a last meal (breakfast edition), it would probably include the breakfast burritos at Wake and Late. I got the vegetarian burrito, and for about $15 it was pretty skinny at first glance. But don't be fooled! The size was actually a very satisfying portion. I'm in love with the super crispy tater tots and thin tortilla wrapping (which I've heard has been Michelin-recognized). The avocados were very fresh, the scrambled eggs were soft and fluffy, and the cheese melted so well inside the burrito. The way it all integrated inside the tortilla gave the entire burrito so much oomf. The two sauces they give out are chipotle aioli and cilantro crema. They really help add more flavor, but sometimes something simple is just better. MJ is just amazing I normally come in but I didn't know that they closed today at 1:00 even though I was late. She informed me that there was going to be a new lunch menu to get ready for and she was so professional and so nice and so courteous and while she was talking to me she was sweeping the front and I was just like wow what a very professional, great experience I was able to have. Even though it wasn't amazing news that they were close. One star for the price. I have been several times. Each time the burritos keep getting smaller. I'm sorry for $18 a burrito I expect a lot more. The sauce they added also has gotten smaller and I ran out before finishing my burrito. The sauce flavor seems to have been changed as well since the last time I was there. The first time I was there I could split a burrito with my wife, but not anymore. They now put the burritos in a box that contains the tiny slide of sauce, and the burrito. The coffee size was a complete joke for the price. We also got two bagels with cream cheese. One plain and scallion. The first thing my wife says was "did they shrink the amount of cream cheese." I looked at mine and said "yep". I think our order total was well over fifty dollars. My wife ordered online a half hour before we got there (28 minutes I checked), I jumped out of the car to get it and i waited another 25 minutes. They told me it was the next order, but i think they made it when i showed up. The staff seemed to be running around with there heads cutoff. Seemed like a lot of chaos. The "free" water jars were out of water and no one was able to fill it up. There was a lot of front of staff workers it seemed. I think I counted about 12. Couldn't see how many in the back. The ones that I saw were all frantically running around. There a lot of customer ordering take-out and several eating in the dining area, but didn't seem that crowded for how much staff was there. If seemed to be poorly managed. I did not take a pictures the food, but I got a few of the box and a soda can. My burrito was thinner than the soda can, slightly longer.
