I'm a bang for buck type of person so when I saw the burrito was $18 before tax I expected that I would be full off of half and save the rest for later. Not the case. The burritos are small considering what you're paying. Are the ingredients "better"? Sure, but you're not going to taste the difference. Maybe it's just me but I like flavor when I bite into a burrito and this one felt like I needed to add sauce to every bite. Also, the crunch from the tots was lacking. They were very mushy compared to other burritos I've had with a crunchy tator tot. If you want to try the burrito to see what the hype is about, I won't tell you not to. FINALLY another location opened up which is much bigger with better street parking but also doesn't have indoor seating so everything is to-go. Price is kinda insane, $18 for a burrito the size of your palm, but it's still BOMB for me to be delulu and keep coming back for more :P It meets most of fivethirtyeight's burrito criteria: crunchy tater tots, bomb aioli sauce and cilantro creme, pickled jalapenos, and juicy protein! To say the least the entire staff is awesome. However there is one particular barista named EMMA, that always welcomes me with the biggest smile and quality service. She is also very engaging, enthusiastic and friendly. Side note, they have the best cinnamon rolls in town. The only bad thing is the cinnamon rolls are only served on weekends. 10/10 overall. Over all I wanted to like it, but not at this price point. You're paying for the trendiness and because it's right next to the gym. Same crowd as the neighboring Urth Cafe. Plenty of other places nearby that are equally as pricey but have more variety, better flavor, and decent portion sizes. Huge space inside, but line/dining/waiting areas don't flow well, and the high ceilings, music, and calling out orders made it seem really chaotic inside. Tasty and flavorful burritos but quite pricey. Definitely packed with ingredients but quite hard to justify the prize for a palm sized burrito. Unlike other places that may be packed with ingredients, you need salsa for flavor whereas Wake and Late's burritos don't need any at all- maybe to enhance and compliment them but not to flavor them. We also do come for their rip and dip bagels! Nice hot bagels freshly made and dipping into the different flavors of their house made cream cheese is always a win here! Service could be a hit or miss as there are times people are just genuinely nice and other times we get someone who might still need to figure out their morning person persona, but all in all, this place has potential. They've opened up more inside but there are still chairs and tables outside for you to enjoy your meal. I was told when they first opened here in Pasadena that they would transition to a full on brunch dining experience with a selection of pastries but then someone else had mentioned just being their commissary of sorts. This place confounds me, but my wife loves it. I want a bagel. But in order to get that bagel I either have to order ten minutes in advance or sit around for 10-15 waiting for my bagel. And then I can't just order a bagel- I MUST order toppings. So I end up spending something like $20-$25 for two bagels that I have to wait for. I got a steak burrito which was good but everything else about this place is a disaster. The layout of the space is designed as if someone who has never been in a restaurant made up what they thought a restaurant was. There's so much empty space that's weirdly blocked off. Where you pick up your food is at the opposite end of where you sit so you can barely hear when they call your name. There is negative ambiance to the point where you feel like you are in a hospital waiting room but with less (and less comfortable) places to sit and none of the chairs match. It's such a gorgeous light filled space but they literally put nothing in it to make it feel like a restaurant. The craziest part is when I tried to order a bagel with spread they require you to buy two spreads and they aren't included in the price. They require two bagels per order which is whatever, still ridiculous but I wanted to try it, but you HAVE to buy two spreads or they won't let you order the bagels. They lost my bagel sale because of their two spread required rule. The people that run this "restaurant" have no idea what they are doing. Also, no one knows what "wake and late" is. There should be information outside that says, " breakfast burritos" or something. I told my sister she had to try this burrito while she was visiting. It lived up to the hype and beyond. The burrito is the perfect size, every bite is jam packed with every ingredient, every bite is the perfect bite. The chipotle aioli and the cilantro crema combination is unbeatable, the crispiness of the bacon and the tater tots adds the perfect texture to every bite. My sister ordered a coffee (the iced caffè) that was new to the menu and still being dialed in. They made enough for us both to try it and I was so glad they did. The consistency was like if Wendy's made a slightly thicker coffee Frosty. On a hot day it was a great way to cool down with some frozen coffee scoops, and by the time I finished my meal I had a wonderfully melted ice coffee. The whole experience was great as we had fantastic help from MJ and Francesca. MJ was such a great representative for the brand, our conversation with her ranged from how things are made, a shared opinion on most other breakfast burritos being too large and full of filler, and the information on the new coffee drink. MJ was professional, pleasant, and knowledgeable about all the workings of the business, I felt in very good hands with her. The interior is large and spacious and was playing some great Afrobeat music while we dined. I looked up one song because it reminded me of Fela Kuti and it wound up being by Dele Sosimi who just happened to be a rhythm keyboard player for Fela's band the Egypt 80. I've been coming to the downtown location for a couple of years, and the burritos have always been consistently delicious. Over the past year, we started visiting the Pasadena location, and we've really enjoyed the amazing ambiance there--it's a great spot to start the morning. 1st time at the pasadena location and 2nd time trying their breakfast burritos and they are sooo delicious! their aioli and cilantro sauce is a must!! i got the vegetarian burrito and it super flavorful and has a kick from the pickled jalapeños. this location has bagels and their plain bagel was amazing, crisp/toasty on the outside yet super soft on the inside and was perfect with the plain and scallion cream cheese. i would go back just for the bagels. one thing to note is that the burritos are super pricey for the size (it's $13 for veggie and $16.50 for bacon). but i think it is somewhat justifiable for the quality of ingredients they use. def not a daily meal to have but such a solid splurge breakfast! read more

The breakfast burrito and 2. the bagels. So I ordered both. Burrito--wildly overrated. Jam packed with cheap, crunchy, overcooked hash browns of some sort--lots of hash browns. A few tiny remnants of something that resembles an egg--maybe. Avocado shoved in there. Some bacon, perhaps, or something that resembles some bacon. Mediocre at the absolute best. In a city with plenty of burrito and breakfast burrito options, yeah, this ain't it. The "salsa" or whatever this is--the most memorable part of the burrito. Oh and, actually, the most memorable part--the $18.00!!!! YES--$18.00 price tag. Eighteen. Dollars. EIGHTEEN. Bagels--not really a bagel. Some sort of overly crispy, over thought artisan pastry that they call a bagel with some sort of odd arrangement where you tear it and dip it or something odd like that. Just give me a bagel. Oh my goddd! So so freaking amazing! What a wonderful experience first of all- the workers were so so sweet! We got all of the sauces & they all paired so well with the burrito! The vanilla bean latte is the perfect balance of a latte- not too sweet & just the right among of milk. I'm obsessed with this spot & I'll be visiting much much more in the future! The food quality is superb. We have only been twice since it isn't super close by but boy do I think about these burritos often. I have ordered the vegan and vegetarian for myself - I would have to say the vegan hits a bit more for my flavor preference.
