I enjoyed my garlic shrimp lunch while looking at some pretty views of the mountain in the island. It's a to go style spot with a very limited seatings inside and outside patio. The service was quick and the food came out pretty fast. Inside of this tiny restaurant, you can find some cute souvenirs for purchase as well.

Really glad I stopped here for food! It has parking in the back and is more of a to-go style spot but there are a few seats on the patio and a few barstools outside. Service was on point and they prepared the food pretty fast! I ordered the coconut sweet chilli shrimp which was so delicious! It comes with rice and a side so the portions are pretty big. My bf got some kind of sweet chili chicken too and the portions for that were huge! Came back on the last day for a breakfast sandwich and it was super tasty. Will definitely return next time I'm in kauai.

June 2023 Cute little spot. Seating can be limited. We were lucky to grab the bar counter table on the patio. My partner got the kalua burrito and a passion orange guava juice. I got the veg. The kalua burrito was good and rich, though a bit heavy for her at the time. We took part of it to go for later. The veg was good, had a lot of different textures to it. I liked the taro patty which provided a nice crunch against everything. The flavor really came through as well. They had a nice spicy sauce on the counter to use also. That juice tho was really good and fresh. A really nice pick me up with the meal to cut through things. Was a nice spot to sit tho a lot of little birds will come to visit you. We got to see some of the helicopters traversing the mountains which we were going to do the next day also.

This is one of the few breakfast options in Hanalei, and one that we had on our list to try. Very busy upon arrival in the morning, seats inside all filled up. Luckily we were just second in line, so we placed our order, got a pager and went and found outdoor seating. It took a while to get our food, about 30 minutes or so, but not the worst considering the crowds. I ordered the Kalua Burrito (a whopping $19), my wife got the basic b, and we got a half order of the churro french toast to split. Unfortunately, the breakfast was a bit disappointing. -The Kalua burrito is good, but not $19 good. Good amount of meat but in desperate need of a salsa or some sort of spice to break up the monotony. The chipotle aioli doesn't have much flavor and is more of just a light cream throughout. The size leaves a bit to be desired as well. -The Basic B was fine, and I mean, it's called the basic b. So can't expect too much. Pile of plain tots with some grilled spam and eggs. Can't complain, but nothing to compliment either. -The churro French toast is really the standout here, and honestly the only thing I'd consider worth the visit. Good crispy crunch on it and lovely dusting of cinnamon and sugar. If you want a sweet breakfast, coming here for just the French toast would be a good choice. Other than that, I'd recommend other breakfast options for both better local flavor and more bang for your buck.

The Churro French Toast here is incredibly delicious! The half order is more than enough for one person, and the full size portion is perfect for sharing. We really enjoyed our meal here, and the coffee's were excellent as well! This was one of our favorite meals on the island.

The coconut flavor on the Fuzzy was pretty dominant but luckily we ordered another drink (forgot the name, my bad) and we mixed them together to get something pretty phenomenal. Drinks are mild, so consider getting an extra shot.

Came on a Sunday morning and they only had drip coffee and cold brew coffee options, no decaf options either. We opted for a Fuzzy, a black coffee, and a ham sammy. This is a laid back coffee shop with friendly staff, and they were super quick with getting our coffee and food out, but both coffees tasted like diner coffee and were just okay. The sandwich was good but could have used some type of veggie on it to cut through the ham and ciabatta bread.

I was visiting and I heard so many good things about the garlic shrimp I had to try. OMG! I usually dont like to eat whole shrimp but this was so worth it. It had so much flavor and the shrimp were big. It came with rice and I chose macaroni salad as my side which was really good. I also ordered dragonfruit lemonade which was so refreshing. This is a small location but cute and they also sell breakfast. The service was pretty quick and the staff was nice.

Food: 5 stars Service: 5 stars Ambiance: 4 stars Value: 4 stars Coffee: 3 stars This is more of a 4.5, but I'm rounding up due to the great food and cute vibe. Came for a late breakfast - got the Shoyu Chicken special (just ok) and the Katsu Chicken (INCREDIBLE). Don't skip the katsu chicken! Also tried the fuzzy nut and Hawaiian Milky Way. The coffee is pretty sugary/flavored and not very strong (no espresso shots here), so if you're a coffee purist this may not be the place for you. The food and views are great, though, and price is decent for how much food you get. We had plenty of leftovers for lunch/second breakfast. Unfortunately there isn't a ton of seating here, with 3 small tables on the front balcony, one small bar inside, and one small a bar outside. Altogether they can seat about 15 people inside and outside, though there are also some picnic tables by the road. Be prepared to take your food to go if needed! Also check out their cute merch, they have tons of funny stickers and some handmade gifts. No kama'aina here.

We got a full order of the churro French toast and shared it. It was SO HUGE we only ate half of it between the two of us! But it was delicious! I wouldn't expect anything like your typical French toast, because it is not that. It is very very sweet. Lots of sugar! We also got an order of tots to share. It was super good and a huge portion! My cold brew mocha was amazing as well! We will definitely be going back!

My wife and I came here for breakfast one morning and, in our opinion, this place is highly UNDERRATED!! The food was absurdly delicious and massively portioned! We went with the Kalua Pork breakfast burrito and the Churro French Toast, and both breakfast items delivered! The breakfast burrito was stuffed with tender and flavorful pork. But it also maintained a proper egg ratio (some breakfast burritos can be overstuffed with eggs in my opinion), and the tater tots added a perfect crunch. The burrito was delicious on its own, but I would highly recommend adding their house made guava hot sauce for a nice touch The Churro French Toast was insanely delicious. We had no idea how massive the portions were, or we would've definitely gone with the half-order for the two of us. The French toast was so tasty - a deep-fried goodness combo of sweet and crunchy. But what took it to the next level was the cold cream and syrup they served right in the middle of the whole dish. Seriously - it was to die for! The combination of the hot French toast with the cool cream made it taste like heaven on earth! We paid $19 for the full order French toast and $20 for the burrito, which sounds steep but they give you a ton of food for the price.

Little takeout window for drinks next to Trucking Delicious which serves the food. I tried the dirty chai which is coffee mixed with chai tea. It was decent and unique, but I think I prefer my chai separate from my coffee. Friendly staff. Ordered the drink while waiting for my food from next door. read more

Had to make our stop here for lunch. As always. So delicious! We had the pull pork and garlic shrimps plates. It's everything island food trucks style, comfort food at its best! Food made to order, didn't mind the Al wait at all. We really enjoyed our yummy drinks while we waited for the food. Looking forward to our lunch here next time! read more

The perfect place to pick up and eat outside at their picnic table or take to go before the north shore Kalalau Trail hike like my group did. I got the kalua pork breakfast burrito which was huge and more than filling enough before my hike. The tortilla is perfectly soft, hash browns inside are crispy, and pork is moist and flavorful. They also had pre-made iced coconut milk matcha tea which was very coconut-y (no other iced matcha drinks). read more

Best breakfast ever! We ate here two days in a row, and the food was absolutely fantastic. We had the churro french toast, kalua burrito, ry-boo, and waffle sandwich with a fried egg, grilled pineapple and spam. EVERYTHING was cooked and flavored to perfection. Super late post. If you're by this area this is a spot that gets really packed. But for good reasons and it's because all of their breakfast items are overloaded. You pick a bagel it's going to be a huge bagel. If you pick a burrito it's going to be the size of your hand or bigger ( I literally sat it on the table). But beyond that it's just a great way to start your morning and when I went there everything was to go so the packaging was easy to take anywhere if you didn't want to just eat there ( because there are only like 3 tables to eat at ) you could just walk to the beach to enjoy your breakfast. read more

This is my all time FAVORITE breakfast place in Hanalei. Forget about bread co., the leading competitor, WAKE UP has the BEST breaky burrito hands down in history of breaky burritos. The end. They win. I love this staff they are such good people! They have a line but it's worth it. Don't put ur money anywhere else for breaky in Hanalei! Anything you get here is absolutely fantastic! The coffee is on point every time, espresso is life and they do it right! Juice drinks YUM. Legit anything you get is YUM! The place is different and by that I mean not many seats to sit but Hanalei Pier/beach is right there so go eat at the pier/beach it's the best way to enjoy breaky anyway. The inside of this place has so many nicknacks and souvenirs to get that you won't even notice you're waiting on your food! Love this place SO MUCH! Thank you for being here WAKE UP! read more

This spot is delicious!! Not a sit down restaurant. Just a counter style spot to pick up and go. Depending on the season and time, the wait can be up to 30 minutes for your order. So try to go before 9am. There are some picnic tables to sit at but if it's raining or crowded, these won't be an option. Staff was awesome and food was even better!! We ordered the Kalua pork burrito and the signature churro French Toast. We're from California, so we know what a good churro tastes like...and this is exactly like it...except in French Toast form. Delicious!!! The burrito was good too. Remember to get the salsa that comes with it. We almost forgot half way through. And the Mango, guava, pineapple juice we had there was delicious too!! The only disappointment we had was the drip coffee. It was so weak. Like the kind you get at a hotel buffet. I recommend going with a cold brew or latte. Or buying a drip coffee down the street. I felt no caffeine from their drip coffee. read more

It's a cute little spot in Hanalei. I was able to call ahead with my order so my husband just went and grabbed it. The workers were all nice. Everything was a big portion and really good. Kalua pig burrito - the shredded pork was tender and well seasoned. The caramel used onions were a lovely touch. Ry-Boo - Betty tasty with the jalapeño cream cheese. I didn't think it was spicy in case you're worried it is. Churro French toast - this was sweet and delicious. We ordered the full portion and 4 ate from it. Hands down the best bagel breakfast sandwich I've ever had! The bagel was perfectly toasted with just the right amount of crunch on the outside and soft, chewy goodness inside. The eggs were cooked to perfection--fluffy and flavorful--and the combination of melted cheese, crispy bacon and sauce took it to the next level. Once upon a time, we fell deeply, madly in love with Hanalei and came back every single year after, staying a month each time. Then, due to a very long bout of ill health we couldn't return to Hanalei or anywhere for seventeen very long, heartbreaking years. When we finally just returned, it was comforting to see how much had remained unchanged. But gratefully one didn't - the Wake Up had been completely revolutionized with the new owners tacking on a well-deserved Delicious to their name. Julie and Chloe, the mother and daughter kick-ass team who keep the deliciousness and the aloha flowing deserve some kind of major awards. First, the coffee. Let's talk about Julie's coffee blends. Killer in all the right ways without killing you. Nothing I know back on the mainland can even compete. But Chloe is most definitely a Kapua; a person of extraordinary powers of body or mind; one able to do what others cannot. We didn't try everything on the menu, but what we did eat was amazing. (I also went completely rooster-cray on the cute array of plates and bowls displayed.) What makes Chloe a true sorceress is her Churro French Toast. If you don't get this, your life will not be complete. And like they renamed the cafe, we renamed the french toast - it's now Churro Crack. It's that fucking delicious. I mean, Delicious. So, go to the Wake Up Delicious and you'll be getting WOKE with the true Goddesses of Hanalei. read more

Restaurant has limited seating (3 tables), but offers a fantastic view of the mountains. I got the Ry-Boo bagel sandwich that had jalapeno cream cheese, lettuce, tomato, egg, and bacon. It tasted ordinary, nothing special. Boyfriend ordered the kalua pork/pig burrito which he was happy about. Both were filling. Wait time was around 20 mins which they warned us about and wasn't too bad even though we were both hungry. The nearby cafe had a wait time of 1 hour for food. They were the only two restaurants open for breakfast on a Monday morning. read more

So cute!!! One of the only places open before 8. If you get there before 8 there is no wait, available sitting, and they are very quick!! Breakfast options delicious and the cold brew is super yummy!! Great view of the beautiful mountains as well. Would recommend! read more

This place is BOMB. I got a chai coconut latte which was good, but the Kaula breakfast burrito is really what's to rave about. Smoked pulled pork, tots, eggs, cheese, cameliZed onions, some chipotle aoili sauce. It's huge and sooo good. Tots were very crispy which i appreciate. I ate half in one sitting and then another quarter a couple hours later and was legit full all day. You must try this if you're in the area. read more

They. Were. Closed. But the owner happened to be outside. My husband needed his late afternoon coffee after a long hike. She smiled, re-opened the store and made him an iced coffee - a full 4 hours after closing time. I am forever in her debt as my husband without coffee can be very "hangry". Kauai has its own a Wonder Woman and her name is Chloe! (Also, coffee is fantastic) read more

Breakfast and lunch options that blend together current food trends and good old local style food. Good prices for the north shore and good service. The taro "sausage" breakfast sandwich is delicious and the plates are generous servings. Loved the section featuring local artists and vendors. Limited seating but close to more outdoor seating. The coffee is solid but the espresso isn't great and the drinks are a little too sweet. I'd give the coffee 3 stars but the rest of the menu and the vibe makes the whole experience a 5/5. read more

I think we will be dreaming about the food at this place for the rest of our lives, lol. Drooling right now just thinking about their Kalua pork breakfast burrito, churro French toast, and garlic butter shrimp. Also tried their fisherman's breakfast. Holy crap their food is SO F***ING GOOD!!! I don't have words to do this food justice. Best breakfast on the island for sure. We went back three times during our visit. Employees were very sweet and friendly. Food always came out within about 10 min. Gorgeous views of the mountains while eating. Yummy coffee. Tons of cool unique gifts you can peruse while waiting. Don't skip out on this breakfast place if you find yourself in Hanalei, I wish we could've gone every morning! My boyfriend and I came to Princeville for a 10 day trip and visited several towns all throughout the island but this was our all time favorite breakfast place and we are huge breakfast junkies. I only wish we'd found them earlier in our trip but sadly we only found them on the last day. We ordered the vegetarian breakfast burrito for myself and my boyfriend got the Basic B. He definitely liked his but the burrito was the real gem. The tots, seasonings, and flavorful rice inside were amazing and I thought the veggies they chose to include were complimented nicely by the other fillings. The portion is also totally massive, I ate half one morning and then ate the other half the next! One of the best breakfast spots we stumbled upon while we were in Kauai! It was MLK day, so most places were closed but Wake up Coffee Bar was open and taking all the business! It was a 30minute wait for food but it was so worth it! The drinks came out pretty quickly, and they hand deliver your take out to you instead of just calling our name from the window. Staff was pretty sweet and friendly. We got the Churro French Toast, Kalua Pork Breakfast Burrito, fresh strawberry orange juice and Chocolate cold Brew. All of it was amazing! We came here for breakfast and coffee. We split the Kalua burrito between two people, the portion was huge and delicious. As always be patient it will take a bit of time to get your order, but they were cranking them out quickly during a spring break rush. It has been over 6 months since our wedding and our guests still talk about how wonderful the food was. My mother in law, the one that rented the house, also still talks about how they came in, cooked, cleaned up and left and you never would have known someone was working in the kitchen. We had appetizers, salads, finger foods, small main dishes and a cupcake tower all by Chef Eric. Chef Eric and Carla are locals and community helpers. Foodland is a Hawaiian original, founded in Honolulu on 1948 as Hawaii's first modern supermarket, and continues to be owned by the founder's family. It has 31 locations across the islands, but only one is still open in Kauai (the Lihue location closed during Covid). It's kinda hidden, so would need to explicitly look for it. It's a medium size supermarket. The poke station and hot deli are located together with the same associates manning both. It was busy and crowded around that area, so important to pull a number and wait. Once my number was called, got seven different items and the associate was patient. My wife doesn't like poke, so made herself a hot lunchbox for a good price (one Korean chicken drumstick at $2.50 each; cheddar cheese tots $2.79 for 0.31 lbs; one corn cob $1.29) while I made a deconstructed poke bowl ($3.38 for 2 scoops of white rice; chili garlic crunch ahi $4.80 for 0.30 lbs; Poke fresh ahi hawaiian style $11.56 for 0.34 lbs; california style ahi $4.80 for 0.30 lbs). My favorite was the California style, with the avocado. It reminds me of the taste of a California roll. Hate to admit it, but paying for almost triple the price for fresh ahi tuna isn't worth it...the from frozen was still great as a poke.
