My experience with Walbert Animal Hospital has been poor. They seem to struggle with time management issues. I have only been twice counting today since I recently moved and both times were enough. The first appointment I waited in the waiting room for 15 minutes and then another 40 in an exam room before the vet tech came in. I figured they were just having a rough day, as this happens to us all. This time around with covid changing up the routine of things, I figured they were going to be a little behind and was prepared to wait. Although, with my cat being very anxious whenever we leave the house I knew I couldn't wait very long again. After 30 minutes past my scheduled appointment, I called to see how far down the list I was, of which I was informed I was next, but, "it's going to be a while". All of this was enough to turn me off from their business, no need to dwell on the employee giving me a tone and then hanging up before I could finish talking. read more

I recommend anyone looking for a vet it's here! Dr. Mike is great - first saved my sick cat. Then removed my Akitas spleen last year and he did great even tho he is 10 years old. Unfortunately our other dog had cancer and went fast. The staff was phenomenal in this very hard time in our lives. We have since got a puppy and of course take her to Dr. Mike. I would not let them treat my pet rock. I took my dog there because he was scratching a lot and his recent trip to the groomer showed no fleas. They did $600.00 worth of tests, and concluded he had allergies. Sold me allergy medicine for two+ months. The dog continued pulling out his hair. At his next grooming, his groomer told me he had scabies and to check my other two dogs for signs. I called the vet to tell them and complain that because of their misdiagnosis, my poor dog was suffering needlessly. The person I spoke with was very rude and said that the groomer could not know for sure it was scabies. Well YES she could. But YOU couldn't tell after skin scrapings and other expensive tests. I ask what could be done to cure my dog and the two other dogs that were showing signs of the same condition. Guess what, more tests, and said I should not have waited those months (the months I was treating him for "allergies". If you love your pets, find another vet. I know I will. read more

What a joke of an animal hospital! My 13 year old boy doxie woke up from his nap this afternoon and was going paralyzed on his left side and I called them cuz I read their reviews and recently made an appt for my female doxie this week for Thursday so when i needed help and needed him to be seen ASAP I called and asked if I could bring him in as an emergency visit the girl who answered my call was so dumb founded proceeding to try and give me an appt for some other day -as she was thumbing through her appt book just wasting time after I had just said he's going paralyzed . I could hear her as my dog was desperate and losing his balance and getting more paralyzed as I watched . I told her again I needed an emergency visit and she was like .. sorry but like there was nothing she was willing to do for us. At that point I said well what else should I do? I got so flustered with her and said forget it I need to keep googling some other vets he needs to be seen now .. I was so scared I was freaking out as he could not stand anymore at this point. I didn't know if he was having a stroke I didn't know .. the girl who was on the phone with me says.. okay as in she didn't give a crap about my poor baby dog and as in call someone else she had to other things going on! I even asked her for some advice on what to do because I couldn't afford at this time to pay 175$ to Valley Central just to walk in the door and that not including treatment which I had called many many months ago at 2am for my female doxie who was having a viral infection and that's what they quoted me. It was 3 pm in the afternoon surely I could get in to see another vet which I called Macungie animal clinic and I was in there within 15 min and they were waiting for me at the door when I arrived. I called them back and canceled my Thursday appt for my female doxie and told her to be expecting a really honest first hand review of their customer service and compassion for my pet. I can't believe I almost trusted their vet clinic with my Gracies care on thursday. Shame on you Walbert vet clinic! U deserve not any stars from me. My dogs are too awesome and deserve much better treatment than what I experienced from ur nasty office mannerisms! And Walbert animal clinic? Please have a little self dignity and save ur excuses as to my review because i stand by what happen today and I hope people avoid ur clinic if they love their animals as much as I love mine. read more

I wont be returning. I took my 16 week old pitbull there and I feel like he was treated unfairly. The lady that cut his nails she was very nice. Kept calling him handsome. The vet however I was not pleased with, I basically feel like he rushed us out the door. He didn't ask me any questions about him but he was quick to say I was lying about my puppies age. That he should have his adult teeth by now and he doesnt, an that he is underweight for his age. I went online an seen alot of other people's pitbulls weighted 23-30 pounds, he's 29 pounds. Then he said it's probably not healthy for him to have white an black nails that he may have a pigment thing going on right now to not neuter him yet, OK that's fine. But i read that is normal. He didn't ask what he ate or how much, didn't ask for the stool sample. He didn't check him for a cold cause I said he sounded congested, all he said was ill give you antibiotics if he is congested. So just give me the antibiotics without making sure he is OK? Then he started saying since I didn't have his vet records which I think they lost. they said he could have parvo even though he's doesn't have any of the parvo symptoms. I just feel like he made my dog to be out to be a horrible puppy maybe because he's a pit. The only time he touched him was when he gave him the shot. Most vets are constantly petting and touching the animal checking their bones, their ears, everything. If you have a pitbull I don't recommend you go here. Plus they charged me $113?! For what!? A office visit, some pills, a shot, and for them to check his poop for worms with they didn't even look at. Most vets look at it right there so they can say if they have worms or not. Just wasn't please with my visit. read more

Took a Rescue Cat there that had all her shots - was told the rabies shot didn't count and they wanted to do another one. This was a small kitten and another rabies shot on top of another would have made her sick - when I refused the shot I was told that someone could come to my door and demand to see proof (a certificate) of a rabies shot. I had the paperwork from the Rescue and even said they could call the Rescue or the Animal Hospital (with the vet's name) that had supplied the shot. I am well overdue in writing a review for Walbert Animal Hospital, and the urgency is even more so after I have read the review by Nathan J. I, along with my mother and sister, have been taking our family pets to Walbert Animal Hospital almost 20 years now. In all those years, I cannot say I have ever witnessed anything other than compassion and professionalism from all staff members. The staff at Walbert has seen many of our family pets grow from young kittens and puppies through old age (the eldest was our 21 year old cat Felix)! We have entrusted their health and care to the veterinarians and staff at Walbert all these years, and we keep coming back because of their knowledge and dedication to the pets and their owners. We have had many of our beloved family pets euthanized there after such diseases as cancer and end stage renal failure had taken over---we were showed nothing both empathy by the doctors, who never rushed our decision or the last minutes of life spent with them. I can remember tears shed along with us as we proceeded with ending their suffering. I was able to stay in the room for as long as I needed afterwards, to say goodbye. Cards of sympathy always came a few weeks after their death. ....For me personally,, I currently have 2 senior dogs (10 and 16years) who have a chronic illness called Cushings disease. The 16 year old is doing quite well on the medication--as a matter of fact, he has been living much longer than what is expected with the disease. I give credit to the care he has received by Dr Fanelli and also to good luck and genes. On the other hand, our 10 year old rescue Skippy has been not so lucky. She has had multiple issues with tolerating medications, anorexia, Gastrointestinal issues and more recently neurological concerns. Dr Fanelli has been nothing but dedicated in trying to manage her disease--he communicates to me as needed and always makes time to call me back if I call with a concern. Walbert Animal Hospital is a BUSY practice---why? Because they are excellent in provision of care to our family pets and people want to get their pets seen. When a practice is busy (and I know being a RN for 11 years and have worked in clinics and hospitals), the staff has to keep moving. They are busy taking care of multiple pets, not only who are waiting in clinic rooms, but there are pets in the holding areas in the back. The phones ring off the hook. It may appear to some people that the staff are not "paying enough attention" to them--I would challenge those people to take a moment and look at the bigger picture. Put yourself in the staff's shoes, just for a minute. Try to develop empathy and have understanding of what is going on around you while you are in the clinic. I know most people really only think and believe that they and their pet matter the most...of course, I get that. But you have to maintain patience and be kind--you don't know what's going on behind the scenes or what the person next to you is going through. Being selfless, understanding and patient are virtues that many people lack...but is highly evident in the staff at Walbert. I am forever grateful to them for the compassionate and knowledgeable care they provide. read more

I am a registered nurse and I have been taking my pets to Walbert Animal Hospital for many, many years. I have always received exceptional care from everyone in this practice! They are knowledgeable, compassionate, caring people who go above and beyond to care for my pets! Right now I have a chihuahua and a chiweenie who I adopted from Peaceable Kingdom. They were badly burned and found roaming the streets in extreme cold temperatures. They are precious, sweet, and extremely loving for me but saying that they can be a bit of a challenge for the staff here is a great understatement! Yet they are treated with patience and kindness and positive reinforcement. And I certainly believe they are the most knowledgeable when it comes to any aspect of their care! Walbert Animal Hospital was recommended by a co-worker who is a dog lover, so I took her advice and visited this vet when I adopted my newest dog. I've owned dogs all of my life and have been a client with several different vets both in and outside of the Lehigh Valley. I think Dr. Mike missed empathy class when attending school. And he certainly wins the prize for rushing through a visit with a sick pet. The first time I thought it was a fluke, but the second time I was clearly one of the last people at the office in the evening as they winded down for the day; I timed him; one minute 30 seconds spent with my pet and a diagnosis of kennel cough. I paid for the meds and visit of course, but later found out it was a misdiagnosis, which isn't a surprise since it was a 'drive'by' visit. So if you don't mind being on a conveyor belt for the care of your pet, you enjoy being talked over and rushed out the door....then you'll love this place. Never again. read more

I have been taking my dog to Walbert Animal Hospital since I moved to the Lehigh Valley in 2013 and have had only pleasant experiences. Dr. Mike is very direct and is not afraid of my dog's sometimes impolite behavior. The vet techs are all very friendly and knowledgeable. I don't ever feel like any of the veterinarians are taking advantage of me or make crazy recommendations for no reason. They are very thorough and take the time to answer my questions and make sure my concerns are addressed. It's also pretty easy to get an appointment when I need it. I recently brought my dog in for back pain and it was a little overwhelming to take care of by myself. I needed help getting him from my car into the vet and one of the techs quickly came outside to help. They have evening hours for those who are working. I would give them 5 stars but they aren't an Animal Hospital so blood work and such needs to be sent out and obviously they aren't open for emergencies after hours. Otherwise I am very happy with Walbert Animal Hospital and would recommend them to those looking for a caring friendly place to bring their pet. read more
