The pharmacy dept. treated me very poorly. I went to the pharmacy to pick up my antibiotics. I paid the man behind the pharmacy desk and he said I needed to go to the other window first. I waited behind a quiet and older gentleman who did not seem to be treated with respect. After he was done, I went up the the other window. I waited there for a good 5 minutes. Not once did any 4 or 5 pharmacy workers look my way or ask if I needed help. There was a phone ringing the entire time, and nobody bothered picking it up. There were two female pharmacy workers in front of me. One had a McDonalds bag in her hand. They were both casually talking to one another. They seemed obvlivious to everything around them. I had already paid for my medicine. And just needed a quick consultation from the pharmacist who was nearby. After waiting 5 minutes, I asked one of the female workers if I could speak to the pharmacist for my medicine. She asked me, "do you need to pick it up?" I responded, "No, I already paid for it. It's right there." She then looked at me in annoyance. Almost like she was puzzled with me. She squinted her eyes when she looked at me. Like I bothered her with my request. I'm normally a pretty chilly person but the disrespectful way she treated me made me upset. And rightfully so. Also, there does not appear to be any kind of leadership in the pharmacy dept. If you can casually stand there with a McDonalds bag in your hand. And talk about non-related work issues in front of waiting customers...that is a problem in my eyes. This pharmacy needs to change. And I will never use them again. read more

always expect slow service at walgreens. is it all walgreens that just don't know how to operate? i think so. I've been to plenty and all the same result: bring something to do cause you gonna wait and wait and wait. wanted to get passport photo. there was a sign saying printer down so i asked the guy and he said lets try it. waited about 30 minutes just for him to print it with a giant looking stain on the photo. waste of time. pharmacy, wanted to get a prescription and that took about an hour. then standing in line after it was ready took another hour. cash registers take about 10 minutes when its not busy. make sure your battery is fully charged so you can play games or check email or something. otherwise you'll be bored. read more

There was a really rude assistant manager/manager type person who I was unable to get the name of, due to my rage. I made several complaints on the Walgreens website to no avail. I suspect customer service is not a top priority in this store and that the employees are out to humiliate their customers. Hence, I highly advise you to avoid this Walgreens at all costs. read more

This one is slightly crappier than the other store in Alameda. Overall still ok. It is just a standard pharmacy store with nothing special about it. Cashier Line is always long at this store and is again today. In a hurry today. Saw two employees at photo counter so tried to pay but got turned down. He said he's in training with new equipment so can't serve customers. Training should be done remotely, off hours or have a person still to serve customers. Went here after my gf had oral surgery to pick up post-surgery meds (around 1030am on a Wed). The dr office had called in the rx's while she was in surgery, and were told it would be ready in 45 minutes, we arrived over an hour after the call. Waited in a line for about 18 minutes, then were told they needed to get the rx's together, the pharm tech said, "oh they called it in, but didn't say you'd be right in. should only be 10-15 minutes" Doubtful, I heard them call it in myself. Ok, 10-15 minutes more, NBD, right? WRONG. Over 35 minutes later, after asking them how much longer it would take (and observing a line that was at least 5-6 people deep for 35 minutes, inefficient service for flu vaccines being the primary cause), she was able to get her meds and get out (after waiting in another line for mandatory consultation). They advertise 24 hour pharmacy, perhaps they're referring to the time you have to wait to pick up meds? read more

I love that everybody knows me here. It's like a neighborhood store, as it should be. Last Christmas I decided to get an artificial tree at the last minute and they were so nice to me...the manager is a very very nice man and he and the security person/staff person were so helpful and took the tree off of the shelf and carried it to my car. Maybe for somebody else that isn't a big deal, but for me it was....he was so nice and so generous and it meant a lot to me. I have never used the pharmacy because when I have been in the area of the pharmacy while shopping there, I hear some very frustrated customers. My advise to others -- stop using their pharmacy and go to CVS for example. CVS is efficient and professional. I do use Walgreens for items that are not medical and I've always been satisfied with their inventory. read more

The pharmacy is not open 24 hours. It's open 23 hours and the hours that they are not open are not posted anywhere. It's incredibly misleading and frustrating when you drive 10 miles at 2 am for a much needed prescription only to be told that you have a wait an hour until they are staffed again. My wife and I both went to Walgreens to get our annual flu shots. This was on the 21st of September 2012. WE are both over 65 years of age and needed the flu shot for seniors. I specifically asked the clerk to make sure that we were getting the shot for seniors, as a matter of fact I asked the clerk 3 TIMES and each time she assured me that we were in fact getting the proper shots! We got our shots and left the store. Two weeks later we both were at our doctors office for and unrelated matter when our doctor told us that Walgreens had given us both the WRONG flu shots. I returned to Walgreens and spoke with the Pharmacist who checked our records and confirmed that we did in fact get the WRONG shots. He then told us that their store DID NOT HAVE the senior shots on the 21st of September and had just gotten the senior vaccine the other day, which was well into October. I can only assume that the clerk knew that they didn't have the PROPER vaccine and flat out lied to us. One thing is certain, my wife and I will never darken Walgreens door again and will from now on get all of our vaccinations at our doctors office! read more

The worst customer service ever. I went to purchase a few items and on my way out I hear an employee yelling at several young girls who are walking out of the store with a bag. The employee was telling them that they didn't pay for something. As me and my children walked to the car which was parked right outside the door another employee comes from the store and starts taking pictures of my car. I get out of the car and explain to them that I was not the person they were looking for and she brushed me off while walking back into the store. I then go into the store to let her know I'm not the person and noticed that the first employee was telling her the same thing that it wasn't me. When I asked to speak to a manager a lady who was not the manager comes from the back with an attitude as if I was bothering her and said you can call the 800 number and here's the managers information. about 10 minutes after leaving I called the store and asked to speak with the manager and yet another lady who wasn't the manager gave me the same information but was very rude. I have never been treated so badly and with such disrespect. As I was being profiled and harassed no one asked me for a receipt nor said what I was accused of stealing. No one even went after the ladies who were suspected of stealing. No one should be treated this way. Needless to say I'm not doing business there anymore. Horrible lines at the pharmacy (understaffed). I went twice to pick up my prescription and both times the lines were excessively long. I had to head out of town on business and called the pharmacy and specifically ask them to hold my prescription. When I went to pick it up, they didn't have my prescription. They had put it back into inventory. Then when they finally got it ready they did not use my on file insurance -- which was on file and they had used it on this prescription many times before. read more

I had not used Walgreens pharmacy until a couple months ago when my husband had surgery - we wanted 24 hour service close to home. We had a LOT of prescriptions to fill, which were complicated and often changed. I must say every employee with the pharmacy was very nice and helpful, several went out of their way to help remedy an issue. I will say they are VERY slow, so plan to wait for quite a while, either for walk in or drive thru. But overall, the pharmacy staff is great. read more

Been a long time buyer from the walgreens on Otis Drive in Alameda. I had more problems with them actually filling a prescription as they refused to fill one as was directed by my physician. Not only did they refuse (been filling it for the last 5 years) but they charged me $269.00 for a prescription that I now get at Versailles Pharmacy for $35.00!!!!! We changed all of our meds to our local pharmacy and found that we have saved thousands of dollars!!! Now we walk in the door and have our meds handed to us with a smile, no line to stand in, and save a bundle of cash!!! My advice....for get Walgreens as they are money makers and customer service friendly!! read more

I find their staff to be really rude and judgmental. They seem nice to the quirky regulars and if you're not a regular they're very short and rude. I ask for a box and the employee snapped "No! We don't have any boxes to give you." They were unpacking items and there were several generic and even damaged boxes so I was taken aback. A simple, "We have to keep these boxes" would have been the right thing to say. And it's not just that employee. The whole staff seems irritated to have customers. They don't understand that if we don't shop there, they have no jobs. read more

You know, people are overly critical about this store in particular. Yeah the employees always look busy, but has anyone realized how many customers are in the store? They pretty much have everything i need. I rarely ever have to go to another store like walmart (a couple miles away) to find what i need. Its unless your trying to find something very specific that you might not find it here. Prices are decent. If its on the front or back page of the ad, then its a steal. They have tons of weekly and monthly deals that you have to pay attention to at the store. Sometimes the lines are long, but it really depends on what time you go. Mornings are the best. around 4-6 its the busiest. Their employees are like any other people you meet outside. Treat them well and they'll treat you well back. The managers with the ties are all very different. Certain people are really nice and smart and some are not. But if you find the right manager, they will help you out if something goes wrong with your transaction. Anyhow, this is the probably the busiest and biggest of all the walgreens in the 30-40 mile radius. they have a bigger selection as well as plenty of parking space. I give this place 5 stars because they have as much essentials as you'll find at a target and walmart but they have employees who will help you personally unlike other mega stores. In terms of drugstore and its benefits. its 5 stars. I dont think one or two bad experiences here should give them only 2 stars. They offer so much for so little in return. read more
