Unbelievable......... this place is HUGE. Every time I come here I still can't believe it's a Walgreens, it's so nice and so big. On the main flood, they have a great alcohol selection, mini food mart with fresh juices, frozen yogurt and yes Sushi. I was reluctant at first to get sushi from a place like Walgreens but it is GOOD! I really love their Crunch Dragon Roll and have tried and loved multiple other sushi rolls. This is not your average Walgreens. Fresh produce, bakery, sushi bar, smoothie bar and DIY frozen yogurt. Seeing is believing. Did I mention the alc situation? Beer, wine, and liquor selection is amazing for a "drugstore". They also do wine tastings a couple times a week and run some great specials. The prices are a bit more expensive than Target ($1-2 dollars more for beer and wine), but if you are not into walking the 3 extra blocks to Target, this is your place. Who would think Walgreens can offer pre-wedding pampering?! Not until recently when they opened their flagship location. The bride and I scheduled for an appointment on a Sunday afternoon. We were promptly greeted by the staff member and immediately began our manicure. It's $10 for solid colors and $15 for French. Both of us selected the French mani with the Essie mademoiselle color to give it a more natural look. We were given the usual routine minus removing dead skin and cleaning cuticles. The whole process took approximately 30 minutes per person. It's been a week and everything is still intact other than some wears along the edges and around the cuticles. But then again, for $15, I think they served their purposes. read more

What it has: - BELLS AND WHISTLES like whoa. - New, sleek design - Sushi - Frozen yogurt kiosk - Huge beauty section - Two floors - Lots of natural light - Legit grocery section (non-perishables and dairy mostly) - Lots of booze What it doesn't have: - Fair prices...I barely noticed because SHINY new Walgreen's! But you should notice. The cheapest of any one type of product way outpaces what it'd be at virtually any other Walgreen's - downtown included. Store review: Don't get me wrong, this could easily be a 5 star shop, but why Walgreen do you insist on changing the price tags on Saturday so the item prices do not reflect the current week's savings, but rather Sunday's price. I find that this happens quite often where prices do not reflect the actual cost of the item. To make matters worse they don't have a scanner to check item prices. The major plus is that this shop has a clinic, sushi station, ice cream, coffee etc. If you live in this area, your choices for grocery are likely limited so this might be your only choice. Staff is friendly. The store itself is well stocked and organized. Pros: lots of options (froyo, fresh produce, wine, sushi, etc) Cons: incorrect prices, expensive when not on sale Hidden deals: Sign up for walgreen reward cards to earn points. This Walgreens is super nice. I think since it's right next to the Chicago Theater, it has to be nice. It has two floors; lower level has food and alcohol, and upper level has everything else. The food area here is huge! That's not to say that the food is actually good though. They have a wide selection of sushi. Again, the sushi is only good if you really have a hankering for it. There are frozen yogurt machines, which is nice too. It's a great one stop shop for everything and it's right in the Loop. My snack runs during work are all at this location. read more

This is the nicest Walgreens to have ever existed. It's 2 floors. The top floor is for cosmetics and toiletries and all that fun stuff. But it looks like a department store cosmetics counter. The first floor has a place to order food, a gourmet chef, tons of alcohol, and a yogurt place. Seriously?! And either I'm just easily impressed or I didn't really know what I was looking at, but it seemed like you could drag your shopping cart. I don't mean the big shopping carts at the grocery store but the ones you carry when you're only buying a handful of stuff. Yeah, this one lady was dragging it around because it looked like the handles were longer or extended out or something. Either way, this lady must have shopped here before. Anyhow, this is seriously the fanciest Walgreens EVER. Stuff seemed a little more expensive that other Walgreens honestly. This Walgreens is beyond amazing with two floors of any basic items you could possibly want or need located right in the heart of Chicago's Downtown Loop! This Walgreens was our go-to shopping spot last year on our trip to Chicago. We will again be visiting this Walgreens a lot on this year's Chicago trip. It is conveniently located in The Loop and is only a few minute walk from our hotel. Both the exterior and interior design of this Walgreens is stunning. It's a two-floor Walgreens with so much to offer - groceries, personal care items, electronics, a fresh froyo station, greeting cards, souvenirs, a pharmacy, cosmetics, and so much more! The staff members are awesome! They're are super friendly and helpful. They work hard to keep the store clean and keep lines moving despite this being a high-traffic store. Overall, this is my favorite Walgreens ever, and I am so impressed with this store! If you're in The Loop, this is by far the best place to get all of your basic necessities! read more

I walked in at 5:00pm when they seemed just open for the dinner hours. Found all meats on the grill was carried over from the lunch so I asked them to cook up a fresh meats. Chef cooked meats and brought them to my table, it was nice. Fried rice and salad on buffet was very good. read more

Well it happened again at the 151 State St. location of Walgreens. My wife and I and a friend from Europe stopped by and she wanted to purchase a bottle of Prosecco. She's 61 years old and my wife and I are both 63 years old. Our friend happened not to have her ID with her, though my wife and I both did. Of course the clerk stupidly denied selling the Prosecco to our 61 year old European friend. Of course, my wife and I both quickly offered to supply the clerk with our local Illinois drivers licenses. But because we were standing in the vicinity of our friend, we ALSO were denied the ability to purchase the bottle. Why? Because we might corrupt our 61 year old friend with alcohol, who apparently might pass for a teenager? So all three of us -- all in our 60s -- were denied being able to purchase a bottle of Prosecco. Furthermore, we actually KNOW the clerk, have purchased dozens of alcoholic beverages from him for more several years, but NO! Today -- No Prosecco for you, your wife, or your friend! Dear Walgreens: This policy has got to stop -- or it needs to be slightly altered so that it's rational and doesn't personally insult your customers who spend thousands of dollars at your stores, year after year. CVS is around the corner and it's looking more and more attractive every day. read more

The pharm tech had no idea what he was doing. I came by for my flu shot. I'm a nurse and I know how to handle insurance too. And he told me my insurance which I've had for the longest time isn't valid. My sister is under the same insurance too and she got her flu shot at Walgreens. He clearly didn't know what he was doing. I went to another Walgreens and they took my insurance with no problem. They should really train the pharmacy techs better because he was a dumbass. read more

Just a heads up - Walgreens stores have 2 different types of clinics. Advocate clinics and Walgreens-owned clinics. They also have 2 different websites to explain what services the different clinics offer. I Googled Walgreens to see if they would remove my sutures at one of their clinics. I was in luck, as their website indicated that they perform that service in their clinics. When I arrived, I was told that this clinic (Advocate) does not offer that service. But apparently, people go to their location to have sutures removed often enough that they know the website is an issue. I was then directed to the Walgreens at 180 N. Michigan Ave to have them removed... Um, hey ladies, there is no Walgreens or Advocate Immediate Care at that address... Now, this was annoying but, whatever, I just wanted to get this done. It was when I called the Advocate customer service line to explain that they need to address this issue (and hopefully be directed to a location where I could have my sutures removed) that I was treated like a complete idiot, how did I NOT KNOW that there were TWO DIFFERENT WEBSITES? I wouldn't be this irritated, despite wasting a lunch break trying to get this done, if the woman on the phone would have taken 2 seconds to just explain that there are 2 websites and that people could find that confusing. But instead of saying: oh, yes I'm sorry, here's the issue - not all of the Walgreens Clinics are Advocate and as a result there are two websites. I'm sorry, that can be confusing. She said: well, you went to the wrong website. That's your problem. No lady, that's your problem. read more

Are all of you people crazy? They have a large selection of what any Target or grocery store might have here in Chicago. So? You are getting scammed by the markup on every item you buy; the highest prices in the city. Their margins are fabulous, meaning their stock goes up. They make lots of money by charging you more than any other store that has the same item. Do you ever price check? The deli/ readymade counter has food that looks like the foodbank rejected it. This Walgreens has a dimly lit first floor and when you go upstairs, all that lovely space and lighting isn't a gift; your dollars paid for it. I compare prices and on an item by item comparison they win for the highest price. Multiple registers open and never a wait? Read the comment by DP W. If you have a problem or a return for Walmart, maybe the glow you have will tarnish. read more

In all my years (okay, so it hasn't been *that* many) of Yelping, I never thought I'd review a Walgreen's, let alone give it four stars. By now you've heard all about this new, upscale, flagship Walgreen's, located in the heart of the Loop. It's kind of funny actually because on this very spot once sat the grossest, most depressing Walgreen's in the history of the world. It was a real urban blight, but I'll digress. All traces of that nasty Walgreen's are but a distant memory. Indeed, if the sign outside didn't say "Walgreen's," I'd have a hard time believing it. This Walgreen's is bright, modern, cheery, and some of the employees are even wearing suits. They even, *gasp*, greet you in a very friendly matter. Methinks I'm not in Kansas, er, Walgreen's anymore. The first floor of this two-story behemoth is reserved for all things food and drink related (but take note of the fresh flowers and Redbox vending machine). A made-to-order sushi station, smoothie/juice bar, self-serve frozen-yogurt bar (with at least six flavors!), a baked goods section, an espresso bar, and tons of ready-made sandwiches, salads, wraps, and the like. I daresay the food looked edible; great even. Who knew I would actually entertain the thought of eating food from Walgreen's? It just may happen. The liquor section was pretty stellar, featuring rows of wine, champagne, beer, and spirits, and even a virtual bartender. And to go with it were fancy cheeses and other accoutrements. Wow, color me impressed. The second floor is devoted to greeting cards (I was so happy to see paper goods from my favorite purveyor, Papyrus) and your typical drugstore items like toothpaste, eye drops, condoms, etc. But...there is also the beauty section, which carried many upscale brands like Nuxe, Talika, and Becca. I wouldn't go so far as to say it's on the level of Sephora as I didn't see other luxe brands like NARS or Benefit represented here, but it sure beats Cover Girl and Maybelline (which they also naturally have). Virtually every shade of Essie and OPI nail polish can be found here too. It's staggering really. The manicure area is tucked in the back off to the side of the beauty section, and it was crowded, so I didn't get a good look at it, but I'm still just astonished that one could get a manicure at a Walgreen's in the first place. Whodathunkit? As expected, prices are somewhat high, but it's Walgreen's, so that's not surprising. I've never been a frequent patron of Walgreen's for that very reason, but out of convenience, I still find it necessary to go from time to time. It's nice to see that the Walgreen's Corporation has decided to go downright "posh." I may just find myself in here more often than I thought, picking up some nail polish, wine, or, *shudders*, even sushi. read more

Tampons. You only walked in for tampons. But within 30 seconds you were in Willy Wonka-land, eating pot stickers, sampling wine and smoothies, and prettifying yourself at a Sephora-like boutique. At Walgreens. You'll walk around for an hour, mouth slightly ajar, shaking your head in disbelief at the sheer beauty of this concept Walgreens. Fresh sushi? At Walgreens? Well, that just seems all kinds of wrong, but it's there. Wine that is not Thunderbird, Boone's Farm or Golden Gate? At Walgreens? Seems all kinds of wrong, but it's there! A real juice bar like Kramers, with kale and spinach and ginger and stuff? At Walgreens? There it is! And that's just on the first floor. If you're a girl (or a boy who dabbles!) and you go up to the 2nd floor, you'll find yourself playing in lip gloss and mascara and marveling that they carry brands like Becca that, previously, you could only get online. You'll contemplate getting a manicure. You'll let someone you don't know pluck at your brows. You'll feel good about yourself because you've sampled healthy food and bought some kind of healthy kale green drink. You'll text all your friends and tell them they must shop there. You'll think to yourself that you dig this hodgepodge of Whole Foods/Target/Sephora/Binny's all in one spot. You'll buy ALL kinds of goodies -- completely and utterly forgetting that all you came in for was tampons! read more

The BEST Walgreens in Chicago. This 2-story "pharmacy" is truly a thing of beauty. Walk in from the State Street entrance and you are greeted by a gorgeous conveyor belt display of wines. Walk in from the Randolph Street entrance and you will find a Coke Freestyle machine, and a sushi station with a sushi chef. Yes, a sushi chef. Walgreens has really stepped up its game with this location. It is shiny. It is bright. Everything is meticulously organized. I can already spend over an hour in any regular drugstore, browsing... but may have to commit a 3-hour chunk of my day to fully exploring this one. Things of note: * They have a sushi chef. You can order sushi from him and he will make it. (How bananas is this?! It's Walgreens!) * Self-serve froyo station with so many flavors! * A juice bar! The green juice I had was made-to-order and delicious. * A great wine and beer selection (don't worry, they may have Walgreens brand "Big Flats" but they also have Half Acre). * The gift card selection is well represented with your basic Hallmark, etc, but also Papyrus. * Take-Care Clinic with walk-in appointments available. * COSMETICS GALORE! And also, this really nifty machine, where you have your picture taken, scan whatever make-up product you are thinking of buying, and it applies it to your picture, so you can see what it looks like before purchasing! MIND. BLOWN. * A nail bar. Essie and OPI colors only. $10 MANICURES. In the Loop! Bravo, Walgreens. Bravo. This store has completely changed my perception of drugstores. Well, well, well, aren't we all fancy, Walgreen's. Not going to lie, when I heard I could get my beef jerky fix AND a mani ($10!!!!) at the new Walgreen's, I knew I had to put it on my list of places to visit on an afternoon excursion from the office. A need for a kitchen scrubber sent me in here. Fixing a stare at the rotating wine bottle display in the liquor section kept me there for quite awhile. Yes, there is wine. NICE wine, not just stuff in the box (but they have that too.) Beer. Liquor. Liquor PROMOTIONS. Sushi. Smoothies. Food stuffs. Cards (not just crappy Hallmark, but Papyrus too!), candy, and household goods were all laid our relatively nicely. Even on Valentine's Day. A little hectic, but nothing like my usual drug store run on a holiday. The beauty and health section are fabulous. Wide, well-lit aisles. Everything is relatively easy to find. And the manicures...I haven't had one, but rest assured, I shall and report back. $10 ain't bad at all in the loop, and there isn't even an old nasty photo of some nineties nail design on the walls. I went to the Walgreens Advocate Clinic at 151 N. State St. yesterday for a routine checkup and the woman working there was so rude that I walked out before my appointment even started. I know that Advocate leases the space from Walgreens, but I called Advocate four times to provide feedback and was disconnected each time after I told them that I wanted to register a complaint. If, for some reason, you need a quick doctor's visit and its not enough to warrant going to your family doctor, just live with it instead of going to Advocate. They'll just treat you like garbage. read more

I almost wish I didn't know this Walgreen's existed, because now I'm obsessed. I didn't even know it was going to be a wonderland, so when I had a last-minute attack of conscience about proactively purchasing Mother's Day cards for mine and my MIL, I saw Walgreen's and figured I'd settle for a picked over selection of cards. Entering, I notice it doesn't look like the drab, dated Walgreen's I'm used to. High ceilings, spacious, well lit, but not obnoxiously so. Then, I stumble upon the freaking SUSHI BAR? and self serve fro-yo? Artisan cheese? Stuffed mushroom cap entrees to take home? I think I blacked out until I made it upstairs to the cards. I started wandering the aisles, amazed and alternately discombobulated and seriously impressed. It wasn't until I made it back downstairs and bought some beef jerky chocolate bar and made it to the register to check out that I snapped back to reality.... Just long enough to make an ass of myself, gushing to the cashier about how freaking cool the store is. At least she took it with a grain of salt and let me know about the nail bar. And then I slipped back into fugue state. read more

I? Am THOROUGHLY impressed. I am really, really impressed, y'all. I realize there are those who will say, "It's just a Walgreens." But it isn't. It isn't, really, not by a mile. I mean, it has all the stuff every other Walgreens has in terms of products...but expanded. And there's cheese and wine, and...oh, lemme organize my thoughts: The bottom floor: Upon walking in, the bottom floor is dedicated to foodstuffs. And winestuffs. The Randolph side is about everything in-between a normal Walgreens or convenience store and a grocery store. Their grocery selection has all the ready-to-go packaged foods, as well as some "better" foods more commonly found at upscale groceries. I did see organic stuff and I did see a lot of healthy stuff and fresh fruit and vegs. There's a juice bar and a sushi bar and I think something else I probably missed. It was total sensory overload. The Lake side of the bottom floor is the wine and cheese side. They have a LOT of wine, at every price point. Their bubbly has an entire 12' long shelf in a chill case. So, so much wine. I liked the design detail of the wines on conveyor belts near the ceiling, too. They have all manner of accoutrements for your cocktail party, including a number of fine tonics and ginger ales, garnishes, bitters, and even a humidor! They have a cheese island with a variety of cheese, some of which I haven't ever seen before - and that's saying something! - which makes me happy. I can't tell you the number of times I've needed to grab some wine or non-brick cheese after work for something or other but couldn't because there was nothing close downtown. Upon recollection, I don't recall seeing beer, but I was trying to soak it all in, I promise. It's very likely there and I just missed it. Besides, it was crowded...because they were doing a wine-tasting. At a Walgreens. And this wasn't a wine tasting at a folding table, either - they have a specific little alcove with a wine quote on the wall above it, so it looks to be specifically there FOR wine tastings! Could not believe it. Very impressed. And now for the upstairs: I took the escalator up, which is where I snapped the lone picture I could manage unobtrusively. The first thing I noticed was, oddly, the lighting. There is overheard lighting, but the shelves are actually lit from within, using LED-ish looking lights. The lighting is really very cool. So they have all the Walgreens stuff there, from hair products to skin cleansers and makeup and men's products...and then they have some colognes and perfumes. Like, not those found at drugstores; good ones. They also have a nail bar, which was hoppin this afternoon, and a number of beauty and makeup and personal care brands I have never seen stateside before. I, being a nail polish nerd, stocked up on some rare brands, as well as some OPI colors I haven't been able to find anywhere (*cough* Nicki Minaj collection which Ulta, Sally and Sephora don't have yet). After I snatched those up, I was able to pay at a chic register right there, instead of having to go back downstairs. On my way back, I managed to see two facial cleansers I've been trying to find for months, just 2 shelves removed from each other. Every interaction I had with staff - a security guard opened the door for me, another said hello as I stepped on the escalator, another pointed me to the Gosh display, the cashier, and a different security guard on my way out - was very nice and professional. I hope that lasts. It was really refreshing to see people actually providing retail service rather than mindless drones stocking tampons in silence or yelling at each other across the aisles. I was also appreciative of their extended hours; they're open til 10pm-ish, I'm told to accommodate theater-goers and people who work late. In and out in about 10 minutes - it's all I could spare today - I'm really looking forward to coming back soon. As in, it will very likely be tomorrow. I'll have more time to wander and soak more in. So, overall...gotta say, 5 stars, no question. I was blown. Away. I will be spending a LOT of time in this Walgreens. And likely a lot of money. read more

It would have been so rad to see Sylvester Stallone and Wesley Snipes crash the party and cause general mayhem. This review is for the Take Care Clinic within Walgreens. As it was pointed out to me on a couple of occasions on my visit on 9/4/15, the clinic occupies space within Walgreens but is not a part of Walgreens. Now, that is a Zen koan! I almost wish that I could rate this clinic on two dimensions: one being the overall quality of care - which would almost certainly receive four or five stars- and the second the administration/bureaucracy involved in being seen by a doctor- a two-star experience at best. On this visit, I came in for an extremely sore throat. The last time I was here was the year before last, for a flu shot. It seems like the examining rooms were more private then, with the room I was in featuring a sliding glass door. Fast forward to now, with the rooms featuring plain old wooden doors, not to mention a lot of carryover sounds from the elevators and employees stocking inventory. It was very noisy, and I am just grateful that my symptoms didn't include a headache, as the cacophony certainly would've driven me up the wall (or, alternatively, to the adult beverages section of the store). Like just about everything else, technology has encroached into this experience. I don't recall ever having to sign in on a computer kiosk (hard to locate and definitely germ-laden, with not a bottle of hand sanitizer in sight) to be seen by a doctor. This was not explained well and in fact I noticed a couple of people coming in after me looking around in confusion. Once the nurse summoned me to the exam room, I was told that she might have to stop at any point, if a patient with an appointment showed up. That really stretched credulity, as I thought appointments were an oxymoron in a walk-in clinic. Fortunately, that didn't happen, and I was able to have my vitals taken without interruption. As to the treatment itself, I am very grateful to the doctor for looking into my ears when I felt something was amiss, and giving me marvelous medicine to cure what turned out to be strep throat. I just wish that the steps leading up to this weren't so fraught, but I am not one to complain as this is a relatively lower cost, less aggravating alternative to a traditional doctor's office. read more

This was the poorest customer service I've ever received at any clinic or drug store or medical facility as well as the longest wait. I will never return. I arrived at the clinic at 10:00 am on a Wednesday morning. I was told that there was someone being seen right now and that one person was in front of me before I'm seen by a nurse. Furthermore, I was told that the wait would be about 35 minutes. I was waiting for 90 minutes... There was no one else in the area except me so the two pharmacy technicians and the clinic in-take lady were not working but instead were chatting and laughing about personal things in front of me, which made me angry while I was waiting so long. No one spoke to me or offered a modified time frame or expressed regret. After 90 minutes I asked how much longer the wait would be. I was told that she would ask because my appointment would last at least 20 minutes on top of my wait. After I asked, she said that the nurse was "wrapping up" with the first client but the 11:20 appointment was already there so I'd have to wait for them to finish as well! I asked why an 11:20 appointment should be taken at 11:30 before me since I've been there since 10:00. I was told this was a walk-in clinic. The in-take staff person responded that, "it shouldn't". Yet, nothing changed so I left. I would have been waiting at least two hours to be seen by a nurse at a drug store in the morning during the week when I was the only person there for at least an hour and at least 3 other staff had nothing to do but chat. Also, there is no privacy in the "clinic". There was a constant stream of maintenance staff walking through the waiting/clinic area since the elevator is located in the clinic. There was also a constant stream of store patrons walking through the 'healthy clinic' to the bathroom. The bathroom sink in the 'health clinic' was absolutely filthy. I have a high tolerance for dirty bathroom but this was disgusting and worth noting. In addition, there were paper towels and garbage all over the floor around the full trash container and sink. It's a beautiful store. What a shame that their clinic staff provide such poor service. This is not a "walk-in" clinic. You are only respected with an appointment. However, I highly recommend finding a different clinic, anywhere else. read more

This location is in a extremely busy location with a lot of foot traffic, but it never feels crowded. The second floor is cosmetics, beauty, health, etc so there is definitely enough space here. Always cleaned and organized by the way. I have yet to try the sushi here and probably won't because it's Walgreens! You never know what could happen though. The liquor section is almost in it's separate space so it feels like you're a liquor store. A nice amount of options and they have decent sales on the beer/liquor. When I'm downtown I try my best to make sure this is the only location I come to. read more

Ramen is a comfort food that over time has become a staple of my early childhood all the way up to now. Some will relate it to packages of "orange, red, pink or blue" or to the more modern interpretation (at least for the U.S.) of a more traditional style Ramen. That being said, I did NOT expect to have ramen at a Walgreens. The lady behind the counter was very pleasant and attentive as I asked a few questions to gauge how "authentic" the ramen was. She offered up two options, Shoyu and Tonkotsu. I opted for what I knew (Shoyu) and she started to assemble my bowl. After 10 minutes or so, I was standing at a ledge, facing downtown State Street, happily munching away at the generous portion of pork sitting in a flavorful broth. Some bok choy, seaweed, and nicely textured noodles rounded out the bowl and to be honest it was pretty damn good. My attitude went from amused and curious to nostalgic and comfortable. That's how it summed up for me. Just comfortable. To me, that is huge for eating any kind of food, and it was interesting that it was in the middle of a very busy Walgreens. Just for a split second, I felt like a little chubby kid, slurping up noodles and broth and spotting the too tight white tee-shirt I would get from K-Mart as a little boy. So if you are in the area of State and Randolph, and you are either pondering a quick bite somewhere, or just even pickin up something random at Walgreens, I suggest you stop by and give the Ramen/Sushi Bar a spin. I promise you will at least get a quality bowl of ramen to go along with some random bottle of hand sanitizer or ibuprofen, or whatever brought you into Walgreens. Bravo. read more

Rarely would I ever think to review a Walgreens. But this is no ordinary Walgreen! This is unlike any drug store I've ever seen. While roaming around on a chilly day we decided to check this new addition to State Street out. Whoa! Juice bar? Fro-yo? Not scary looking food? I'm confused. We are in Walgreens correct? In any case, my lovely wife was feeling ill for the past 2 months and decided to see the minute clinic here for a second opinion. You sign up on a computer and wait to see the doctor. She loved the woman who took care of her in there. Then you go right next to the exam room and put in your 'script. Watch the TVs above and see when your order is ready. Yes, I'm reviewing a Walgreens. Because, yes, I love it. Concept is similar to the Duane Reades out in NYC, equipped with sushi, wine (over 700 bottles!!), fancy pharmacy and clinic, juice bar, and my favorite - the look boutique. Great location, awesome staff, just all around good vibes. ...and yes, I creeped and took photos for you folk. Now I'm a nail polish snob (OPI & Essie only pls) - and this was amazing! A girl at work had a fabulous nail color so I asked her what/where/how - she said Walgreens. So I made an appointment at the Look Boutique (which I recommend...call and cycle through the directory and ask for a manicure) - and it's a $7 polish change, $10 manicure, $30 no chip manicure - and you're in and out in 30 minutes with no hassle. I've been in Chicago over a year now and I've finally found a quick, clean salon where I like the ladies and can get the job done for cheap! If you're a dude or not into that kind of thing, pick up your wine or beer here, prescriptions, they have those fancy Coke machines where you can make a million different kinds...whatever, just go check it out. read more

Probably the best walgreens I've ever gone to. I was really sick on a weekend and couldn't get in to see my doctor. Luckily, walgreens has a take care clinic that can diagnose and prescribe. Went to the one in old towne first. Got there like 20 mins after they openned and i was already 4th in line. Found out there was another take care clinic downtown, so decided to see if it was faster. Walked in and thought I was in the wrong store.....it looked more like a grocery store that sold alcohol too. It's like a super walgreens, first floor is like groceries/prepared food/alcohol, and the second floor was the pharmacy/take care clinic/usual walgreens items. Everything was clean and the isles were spacious. Signing in to the take care clinic was easy and the waiting area had plenty of seats. The nurse or doctor in that day was awesome(Tiffany). She explained everything to me clearly and was really easy and warm to talk to. She forwarded my prescription to their pharmacy, and in like 10mins, I had it filled and headed back home to my bed. This place is now my back up if i can't get in to see my doctor, plus if I'm ever downtown and need to do a little light shopping for groceries or toiletries. read more

It is a great location! It's near by many restaurants and hotels. I came by here for blistex and some snacks. While walking by the aisles, I saw there are many good promotions and good variety of affordable food. The place is very neat and well put in for categories, which make it easy for customers to find supplies. The cashiers were very polite, they greet you with a smile. read more

2 Stars for the Look Boutique's no-chip manicure. I knew I was taking a chance considering it was Walgreens, but my no-chip chipped within 24 hours. Terrible polish job doesn't go to the edges or tip of my nails. There was no soak or trimming of the nails. I had it done 2 days ago, and it looks like it was done 2 weeks ago. I thought the price and location were too good to pass up, but clearly I should have passed it up. The girl that did my manicure was rude at first and appeared to be upset that I already had a no chip on that needed to be removed (which I told the girl about when I made my appointment). Once I started to initiate conversation with her, she warmed up and was pretty friendly. Overall though, pretty poor service. read more

Three words: hotel room party. This Walgreens is a god send! It was down the street from our hotel and had everything we needed and more. It looks brand new and the selection is pretty good. Only problem was that we didn't have enough arm power to carry our wants. Water was cheaper in bulk but we were not going to finish a whole case in a few days so we were left to buy individual bottles. The candy aisle is off the hook and the chips alone are enough to make your head explode. We got the munchies! This was a really great stop to stock up our room. Our purchases really came in handy especially the one day when we were so lazy to leave the room and explore. Junk food and movies, I could not have asked for a better day of rest, relaxation, and convenience food. Walgreens, I love you. read more

Holy Schmogoly!!! This place is the craziest (coolest) Walgreens I've ever been into. Their beer and wine selection was nothing that I've ever seen before other than at a Bev Mo or Whole Foods. Definitely a step (or giant leap) above other Walgreens I've been to. This place had about 200 different wines from all regions of the world, and lots of local and craft beers in 22s. While it is no Binny's, if you are wandering the streets of the downtown area, looking to get some good beers and racing the clock, this is a great place to stop into. This may be their flagship store or something but I'd love to see this replicated in other stores across the nation. Other than beer and wine, I can't comment on the rest of the store, but who cares. Would definitely go back next time I'm confined to the hotel room with the wifey and daughter to watch movies. Otherwise I'd be out bar hopping with the local yocals. read more

I LOVE THIS WALGREENS! I've never given a review about any drug stores before but this one definitely deserves my attention and review. :) A ginormous liquor section, a deli that preps food as you order, they always have people walking around with samples for customers to taste, a NAIL BAR on the second floor and a beautiful cosmetic section! And everyone there is so friendly and chipper. I think it's cus the whole place is so bright and just gives such a cheerful ambiance. read more
