Sara C from the Walgreen's Look Boutique just gave me a great manicure--for $10! I was having trouble deciding between three nail colors, and she offered to quickly painted one nail each color so that I could see how each color looked on my hand. No one had ever offered to do this for me before, and it was fun and helpful. Even though the manicure was inexpensive, the salon area of the store was very clean and neat. I hadn't gotten a manicure in at least six months, but Sara still managed to make my hands look great in just half an hour. She gave a great hand massage, too. It's hard to think up ways to improve an awesome $10 manicure, but I do wish that I could have made the reservation online. You have to call the Walgreens general number. Then an automated system asks you if you want the pharmacy, photo, etc. You have to say "something else" and *then* you can get connected to the Look Boutique. Still, I am so glad I called! What's not to love about this place?! Frozen yogurt, an Icee machine, fancy cheese, champagne, tons of booze, glossy and lighted magazine stand, gorgeous and lush makeup department, and $10 manicures. That's right, $10 manicures, ask for Labrina, she was fantastic. This place is swanky, new, and makes me feel like a kid in a candy store. No normal Walgreens will make happy ever again. Yep I'm reviewing a Walgreens. And I'm giving it five stars. Came here on weekday evening because my bf and I was going to see a show, and we were a bit hungry. Walgreens caught my eye (of all things) because I saw the conveyor belt of wines through the glass windows, so I was super curious. We stepped inside and were blown away. High ceilings, escalators, and an amazing food section. It's fancier than some full service delis that I know of. I was eyeing the sushi, which looks much better than anything you can find at Costco or Whole Foods, but I ended up just settling on froyo for dinner. My bf and I split a large strawberry and tart swirl, topped with blueberries, M&Ms, chopped almonds, and granola -- it's just however much you can pile in the container, so please pig out. I was considering giving them only 4 stars because of their meager selection of fruit toppings and no sample cups, but then I decided to be generous, because how many drugstores sell self-serve froyo to begin with? If we weren't in a rush, I would've liked to look around a bit more. Other drugstores please take note, this is how you all need to be. Next time I'm getting the sushi. read more

This Walgreens is the mother ship of all Walgreens. It's a destination pharmacy and drugstore. A Nordstrom disguised as a drugstore. It has everything you need and nothing you don't. After discovering this store while on vacation, we made three additional trips here because it absolutely has it all -- whether you are a visitor needing 3 oz. sunscreen SPRAY for your carry on (never ever have seen that), or a business person needing a quick lunch to go. It's clean, well lit, well merchandized (which makes it fun!). Bravo Walgreens! Honestly, I love this store. read more

This has to be the all time weirdest Walgreeens. There's a whole lot of different ideas randomly placed around in a willy-nilly fashion. If you're popping in to find something specific, best of luck finding it. Don't bother asking someone for help. No less than three employees wouldn't even turn around when I said "excuse me, could you please help me". One cashier early on a weekday morning. Needless to say, long line. read more

It's hard not to be a fan of this location. Obviously it's huge and it offers so much more than regular locations. CVS just sucks.. especially the one on adams and wabash where there's always a long line cuz something is always broken holding up that line. Lordy. I've visited this one multiple times and try to avoid during peak touristy hours/days such as the weekend where youre stuck behind people leering at products and such while you just want to get your shopping done. People like to come in and view the wonders of toothpaste. I've gotten a veggie peeler, toothpaste, dramamine and sushi on my most recent visit on my way home from work. I'm liking how I can stop by after work, get a lot of stuff I'm looking for and not have to stop at other stores for it on the way home. Nice wine selection by the way. The sushi was already prepackaged and I went with the red rock. It's pretty darn good. I would stop in for it again for 7.99 it's a steal. They serve it with the cheap soy sauce you're given at dumpy Chinese restaurants. That was different. Sushi at walgreens isn't something new though- they've been offering a nastier, american friendly with little to no raw fish kind at their other older locations for years now. I love how organized and clean this location is AND there's a great gift and card selection. Perfect for when I need a card in a pinch. I recently had to get a birthday card for my father, stopping in at a different walgreens and I was struggling to find a dad appropriate birthday card for him. I had mixed up his birthday date hence resorting to Walgreens. They have frozen yogurt here with sad, sad looking toppings and it's a flat fee around 5 bucks. Fuck that shit, I'd rather walk a little further for pinkberry or forever yogurt. CVS you just got pwned. read more

They have deceptive internet marketing and dont make it clear when their pharmacy is open and closed. They ahould have a phatmacist at work 24 hours avoid this chain, and help out an independant that cares about more than profit. Then maybe we will have a pharmacist on duty for emergencies. This review is strictly for the Advocate clinic located inside this Walgreens. I didn't experience all of the usual pain points that come with an urgent care clinic (no appointments available, waiting forever to been seen, etc.) so I thought this could actually be a great clinic to visit in a pinch, but boy, was I wrong. The Nurse's Assistant called me into the room by literally saying, "Come in". I wasn't even sure she knew who I was until I sat down in the exam room. Not a huge deal but there were several other people waiting so it could have caused an issue if she called the wrong person in. She spent 20 minutes trying to find my old record (I told her several times that I got married, that the last time I went to a Walgreens was years ago & since they were bought by Advocate in 2016, my old records were probably gone). She insisted that she find my old records and literally patronized me for not remembering the exact date, time, and what the staff was wearing during my last visit (even as I type that, I can't believe she asked me that!). She said, "Girl, come on" and rolled her eyes at me. I mean, seriously! So sorry to have inconvenienced you. She answered her cell phone in the middle of taking my vitals and had a ~5 minute conversation. I get it, things happen and you have to take a personal call at work, but how rude! Why not just answer and say please let me call you back once my patient is done. So incredibly unprofessional. When I actually got to the NP, things only went down from there. I scheduled the appointment because I thought I had an ear infection. The NP stuck her tool in my ear for 2 seconds and simply said,"Nope, no infection". I explained that I was feeling pressure on the outside of my ear canal and not on the inside and even showed her where my ear was red and swollen. She gave me no explanation as to why I was experiencing the pain, but offered to irrigate my ears out to help clear any clogs. I should have said no considering how awful the level of care was up to this point, but I was desperate to find some relief. I've gotten my ear irrigated before and while not a pleasant experience, it's never been more than an annoyance. She proceeded to irrigate my ear with cold water for about 30 seconds (using cold water is literally the cardinal 'don't' when it comes to ear irrigation - a simple google search will tell you that) until I finally told her to stop because I was so dizzy. Not only do my ears feel worse, I was offered no suggestions or relief to my original issue AND now I'm dizzy and nauseous. If you're thinking to yourself, "How bad can they be?", I hope you see this before deciding to go. I will NEVER go to an Advocate clinic again. read more

I have never ever been to a Walgreens like this before! Two stories of groceries, booze, deli, and normal health and beauty items in a glitzy shining store with big windows and lots of lights! Upstairs is the typical incidentals....ahhhh, but the gem of the place....the nail salon/spa. Anyway, they do $10 manis, $30 no chip MANICURES!!!!!!!!! WOOHOO!!!!!!! This is the nicest fanciest Walgreens I have every been to! Not only can you get your usual drugstore item, you can also get pretty much everything else here as well. Want some freshly rolled sushi, no problem! Need some liquor, no problem! Want a fresh salad, no problem. Need a mani, no problem! Need to see a doctor, no problem! This sure isn't your father's Walgreens! They literally have everything....including a sushi chef that actually makes some pretty good sushi! I work in the loop and stopped in to pick up a battery while running some other errands and was really impressed with what Walgreens has done here. First of all, the store is bright, clean, well organized and staffed with some really upbeat and friendly people. The store is actually two levels with food, drink and a few other items downstairs and all the other typical Walgreens/corner store stuff upstairs. What I have returned to for now, however, is a quick lunch pick up. Yes, they have sushi and frankly I thought it was way better than any other typical pre-made store bought sushi I've tasted. Remember, its Walgreens...keep your expectations in check. It was freshly made and creative but, yes, a little pricey for Walgreens sushi. I've also had a couple of their pre-made sandwiches which I've found to be fresh, creative, well made and pretty tasty. I've been in right in the height of a lunch rush and, while crowded, they seem to get people through the lines relatively quickly. All in all...a great experience for going to Walgreens. Skip the sushi --- the rice for the sushi is good. the problem is that the chef can't make a simple shrimp tempura roll. I ordered one, and all that was in it was tempura shrimp. no cucumber, no avocado. just shrimp. LAME. and they charged me 8.99 for the privledge. I'll skip the sushi from now on. but i'll shop the other parts of the store, because it's amazing. read more

One of the biggest Walgreens I been to so far. I love how this Walgreens have sushi and sushi chefs. Their sushi is pretty decent. Price range from $7 and above. I tried their frozen yogurt before and its more like ice cream than yogurt. It's too sweet. They also have fresh squeeze/blend smoothie/juice. It is pretty expensive. There is a boutique upstair called "Look Boutique" I'm not sure what it is exactly, but I believe it is kind of like a nail salon. They also sell the Beauty Blender, which is nice because the last time I checked at Sephora, they don't have it instore. Bummer.. One of my favorite place to kill time. read more

PLEASE help me find the pair of flip flops that is in my profile pic and in my "me" section (picture of top and bottom). I've searched hi and lo and I bought these in the summer (spring) 2014 downtown chicago. They have been the absolutely most comfortable flip flops and I can't find them anywhere. I dont know the brand or anything. THere is a similar pair called "Chatties" they look almost identical but they say "chatties" whereas the ones in my pic you see a floral pattern. Walgreens has gone upscale. The big pimp daddy of all Walgreens. I walked in here to pick up a few essentials only to witness a stylish, urban/hip atmosphere. Normally, I would walk in get my stuff pay and leave but not here, I had to walk around. This location features a sushi bar, smoothie bar, large selection of fine wines, artisan cheeses, diy frozen yogurt and from what I can tell a full service nail (possibly hair) salon for the ladies. Wow! This definitely tops all the other Walgreens or CVS. Multiple floors with high ceilings. It was bright, clean and well organized. They have sushi, baked goods, sandwiches and fro-yo. Pretty good variety of liquor selections. Upstairs is cards, pharmacy, cosmetics and nail salon. Everything was nicely stocked. Prices aren't outrageous. It's like you can get everything under one roof. read more

You may not know it but this location was already a Walgreens before it turned into a clothing store. All I can say is what a difference time makes because this Walgreens came back better than ever and I absolutely love the wide open space, the sushi bar, the wine section and so much more. When I seen the line for the sushi bar my first thought was hey people this is Walgreensss and their are some real sushi bars that you can go too. Well, let me say this the guy custom made my sushi because I didn't see exactly what I wanted and I understood why they had a line of people waiting to be served. They also sell coffee and although I didn't buy any I go a sample and it was very tasty. I can't remember the name but I know it had whipped cream on top and it was good...lol The Pharmacy is upstairs and when they weren't able to fill my prescription because they didn't have the medicine she checked the system called another location and I was able to go and pick it up. You may say "That's what they are suppose to do!" This maybe true, but the reason I'm speaking on this she didn't act like it was a bother to her day and she apologized she was what good customer service looks like. Stopped in here just to buy a coke on a hot day and ended up in the middle of a hot mess. It's right across from Watertower Place, so the crowds this time of year are pretty crazy. The place was packed with people, and you could barely more through the isles. The lines were long, both at the front 10 registers (that's right, there were 10 registers up front to serve the crowds), and at the pharmacy. It was convenient having this Walgreens in that location, but he crowds there made it almost impossible to shop. It's a great place to stop for something cheap in the middle of the Magnificent Mile, but don't expect it to be a quick stop. read more

Since their makeover four or five years ago, this has become my favorite outpost of the usually blah Walgreens chain. I knew I had lived into a new age on the day in 2012 I first walked in here and discovered that this Walgreens now had fresh-made sushi. Also a large liquor department, including a fine craft beer selection. Checkouts at both ends of the ground floor; seldom much waiting. The only downside is something typical of downtown Walgreens locations, and beyond the store's control: the sidewalk outside the entrances is a magnet for panhandlers and street crazies. read more

Wish we had one like this in Indiana. My friend lives right next door, and when I was visiting for a conference I would stop by here for a quick lunch. Fresh salads, sandwiches, sushi, and desserts etc. The sushi makers were so nice and helpful in helping me decide on what to choose. It's not the best tasting sushi around, but it's no different than other supermarkets. I also bought a bottle of wine there. read more

Came here a bunch of times during my trip to Chicago to grab water, snacks, souvenirs, food, things i forgot to pack, etc etc. It's centrally located, easy to find and close to the EL so i pretty much was here at least once everyday of my trip. My favorite thing? The fresh fruit smoothies. These definitely helped to replenish my energy after a long day of shopping/walking/sight-seeing. So simple, yet so good. read more

Holy Fancy Walgreens!!! This place opened a while ago, though I just paid my first visit a few weeks ago because I was at Block 37. This is a few blocks from where I work and there is a non-fancy Walgreens and CVS nearby when I really need to hit up one of these types of stores. This one is crazy big and fancy. About a year ago, a co-worker said they have a nail salon with $10 manicures...they do. I made MANY attempts to get one of these and was forever put on hold just to make an appointment. Odds are I will just spend $12 elsewhere and never go that route again. They have all kinds of food, booze, frozen yogurt, you name it...they also have a bit higher end cosmetics and to add to your shopping experience, wine and booze samples, and more. If you're in the area you may as well opt for this "Super Walgreens" as there is more of a selection here! read more

Nice sized store and great location to my work so I handle any prescriptions from here. It makes a good excuse to take a break from work and look for healthy snacks, too. The only thing that could make it better would be expediting the line quicker at checkout but other than that, everything is good. read more

Friendly staff for it being in the busy area that its in. You can definitely expect them to brighten up your day at the register. I love coming here to get snacks before school. They sell yogurt, fruit, smoothies, sushi, and many more things. This place is awesome, and right next to bike share. read more

Okay I have been back to Walgreens. Maybe there were kinks in teh early sandwiches perhaps I just got a bad one. People keep telling me I am too hard on them. Maybe I was it is a pre made sandwich and there will be kinks in any system like that. I have to say that I really like the little Greek Roll ups with Kalamata Olives and Hummus. One thing does have to be said. Walgreens was touting these as there way to help the 'food desert' problem in Chicago. I mean it is a blessing cause I would be hard pressed to find food in the Loop! read more

This is hands-down the swankest Walgreens I've ever seen. Great fresh-made food section and a surprisingly well stocked liquor department with lots of top-shelf choices. Plus you can still buy typical drugstore stuff like a cheap t-shirt at 11:30pm. (One of my colleagues needed to do this.) Convenient location in the Loop at State & Randolph, open 'til midnight. read more

This is specifically for the Take Care Clinic. It sucks. I tried 3 times to see them, and each was a failure is its own right. I think they're disorganized and don't communicate well with the patients. The first time I went, I waited for 20 minutes to see someone who, I found, would then schedule an appointment for later (which wasn't *really* an appointment, more like a place in line.) Fail since I can't leave work again to come back, and really, I just waited in line to be placed in another line. The second time I showed up at 7pm, when the clinic closes at 7:30, and it was already closed. The third time they let me sit for a couple of minutes and then I was told they were going on lunch break. FAIL. read more

It's huge, has almost everything and is clean, open, great. Only thing missing: staff behind the registers! I work very close so I stop in a lot. Last few times there have been plenty of staff at the sandwich station, stocking shelves, behind photo area, security and misc.,...and ONE person behind the register. And I stood there looking around at all the staff, waiting, standing, holding a newspaper, waiting...waiting.... while a guy, paying with change, tried buying a Sobe while the girl behind the register waited for a manger or another employee to assist in some way. After 2 full mintues, which is a while to be standing in line at a Walgreens with staff everywhere, she helped the employee and was on her way back to reorganizing the pop chips. Super. It took so long, I abandoned the couple purchases i was going to make and just bought one item so i could get out of there. Imagine a store that ALWAYS had enough cashiers, seems so easy doesn't it. But it must not be. Please try it, Walgreens, I'm rooting for you!! read more

I'm on Yelp and actually reviewing a Walgreens... and it's awesome. I get my Rx's here, while I'm there I will pick up lunch... sometimes I stop by and grab morning coffee... and yeah, I even will go out of my way since I know grabbing sushi or a sandwich here will be easy, convenient, and tasty. Favs - the spicy tuna roll is well-packed and tasty... - the sandwiches on pretzel rolls are great - they have a take care clinic - bakery (peanut butter brownies) and froyo Skip - the veggie hummus wrap has too much onion or radish... yuk read more

I've been to plenty of Walgreens in the city and this is my favorite. It is very large and seems to have everything. Aside from the typical offerings of Walgreens, it has a wide offering of fresh food, including fruits and vegetables, as well as a juice bar and TONS of beer, booze, wine. And cheese? Really. I've heard they have a nail bar upstairs but I've never had the time to check it out. Considering its location, the place is kept up pretty well. I was surprised. Employees are also friendly and sometimes even ask you if you need help with anything. Seriously. If you are looking to go to Walgreens in the loop, go the extra mile and trek over to this location instead of the one that is likely 2 blocks away from you. It is worth it. read more
