I've been going here for the past 9 years and have recently started transferring my prescriptions out of there because they are so slow. I have sat in their drive thru for up to 30 minutes and the line didnt move once. Try to call them on the phone, they ask you to hold then your call gets disconnected after awhile they keep answering then putting me back on hold up to 10 times before i hung up and drove to the store. With the call still on hold I ask the lady at the counter when they plan to answer my phone call and I show her the time on hold on my phone. This problem is still not fixed with them. I went today to drop off a prescription and it was the same old story. Waited in line 20 minutes then walked in the store and complained. Even though this is the closest pharmacy to my house, I will go somewhere else to get my scripts filled. If they are looking to close stores, I hope this one gets axed and maybe we can get a Rite Aid in its place. read more

I'd give this pharmacy 0 stars if I was able to. The workers are very unhelpful plus when you call to refill a prescription, make sure you're ready to wait 45+ minutes. Let alone drive through and inperson pharmacy is just as slow. Super short staffed I supposed but the wait time seems to be a persistent issue, if you're looking a for a pharmacy, look somewhere else. read more

Waited in line for a flu shot for my kids to hear they don't do flu shots. Put a freaking sign up to tell people you don't do shot anymore since this is where we normally go for shots... One person in line and waited 20 mins to hear, We don't do vaccinations... BS... What a shitty store, I only go because it's local. read more

We used to love the Walgreens on Hoyt Rd. But since I've become a quadriplegic and needed medication on a regular basis this place has literally become the joke in the community. When Greg was there service was fast, friendly and got your prescription right. Now they are slow and rude. They act as though they are doing you a favor. I personally know of 5 people who will no longer step foot into the pharmacy. My most recent experience was an 1 hr and 37 minutes on hold only to face have them pick the phone up, not say a word and then hang up. It's not easy to get out as quad so making unneeded trips is hard. I could call out the rude employees by name but they know who they are. Step it up Walgreens or you will be chased out of our neighborhood read more

If you're trying to decide on a pharmacy- don't come to the Gig Harbor one! Mgmt will cover for staff even if staff drops the ball - completely- in other words they have a 'good excuse' and so what if they "can't recall talking to you and another pharmacy and placing a special order'. Their answer is " I don't recall...". I get it - staff is hard to find and they don't want to lose more - but hold people accountable for dropping the ball- geez. I guess things were different before Covid (when I was working) - back them you couldn't get away with that! Now - c'est la vie! They don't care. If looking for a pharmacy, keep looking.... Perhaps Costco or Safeway or Albertsons MIGHT give better results - than the Walgreens pharmacy read more

This review is solely about the service I received at the photo desk today around 12:15 pm. The shift lead who's name slips my mind (heavier set, short woman with dark hair, older), was so incredibly rude and unprofessional. I had not developed film in a long time so I was unaware of the timing and methods used. As I inquired, she answered all of my questions without making eye contact, and replied to me in an extremely aggravated/annoyed voice. She also just walked away without saying anything after handing me my copy of the receipt, and then began to chit chat with her coworker a bit further away. Since she did not give me any cue that our transaction had finished (i.e. "Have a nice day"), I was just standing there waiting for her to return. Totally rude, completely unprofessional! A shift lead should not conduct business so rudely. Especially with an inquiring customer. Horrible. read more

If you need a passport photo I strongly recommend you go somewhere else. The workers at Walgreens just don't care. I went in on a Friday morning to get a passport photo taken. First of all the young woman at the counter either did not want to be there or was on some kind of medication... She was a total space case. She couldn't answer my questions. I asked how long it would take to get the photo back. She said she couldn't tell me. I asked, will it be days or weeks? She finally said, a few days. So, today (2 days later), I called and asked if my photos were ready. The person on the phone was very hard to understand. He looked through everything and said there was no record of anything with my name/phone number in their system. The feeling I got, especially from the young woman was that she did NOT want to be there and definitely did not want to spend any effort helping a customer. read more

I'm so tired of the pharmacies antics they are so slow almost to the point where you question if they're doing it on purpose because they hate their life every time I come here its a huge problem. My father dropped off prescriptions for my son the other night at about 4:30 p.m. They told him it would be 30 minutes to fill one bottle of amoxicillin and pull a tube of antibiotic cream off the damn shelf. My dad brought my son back home so I decided to just have my husband pick it up 2 hours after the prescription was dropped off. When my husband went to pick it up it had been over 2 hours since the prescription was dropped off and when he went to get it the lady said, oh do you want me to process this it'll be another 20 minutes....... Worst service. I waited over 20 minutes on hold to refill a medicine. I went in and the line consisted of 1 customer who left dejected because they messed up his insurance and one car customer. It took 30 minutes to get through 1 in store customer and 1 car customer. I submitted my medicine for my asthmatic cat who has a URI to top it off and was told to wait 20 minutes. I just got back in line they don't call customers in the wait area. It took 40 minutes to get through 2-3 customers. I was then over charged compared to other pharmacies for the same med. I'll never return. I'm switching my cat's meds ASAP to either mail order or another local establishment. This was uncalled for in wait times. Meanwhile, my sick cat had to wait for meds and relief. I recommend this Hoyt Walgreens pharmacy. I have used this pharmacy dozens of times per year for 12 years. I have consistently had very fast and competent service. Occasionally I've tried other pharmacies when Walgreens didn't have something available, and I've always gone back to Walgreens. I get prescriptions and flu shots there. read more

This is one if the slowest places to pick up medications. I got so frustrated with this location a few years back so i started going to rite- aid. They are slow but 30 minutes faster. My wife convinced me they have improved. She was not truthful. I went in for a inhaler the young lady tells me about 20 minutes. 1 hour later the pharmacists ask what was i waiting for and pulled it off the shelving The lady that was helping me didn't even look up. Every time you drop a scrip off, you are told 1 or 2 hours and even then it's not ready. I pick a majority of my granddaughters medication from the hospital pharmacy and they only take 10 minutes for 7 meds. A month. Walgreens should pay you when they take more than 20 minutes. read more

Worst experience dealing with a 'manager' I have ever had. Transferred my prescription from my local Walmart to this Walgreens to get better service and now I'd rather deal with Walmart. The pharmacy manager Greg was extremely rude over the phone. I had an issue when I picked up my prescription last month so when I called in this month to refill it, I wanted to make sure I wasn't going to have any more issues. Asked him simple questions trying to understand and he talked right over me and didn't even answer my questions and was very defensive from the start. At one point he said I should go back to Walmart if I didn't like what he had to say. I just tried to get some clarification because last month they had told me one thing and when I called again it seemed they were saying the opposite. Called back because I was so unhappy about this experience, plus he still hadn't answered my questions and spoke with another pharmacy technician. She was very nice and helpful. Its super unfortunate that the manager treated me that way and because of this I will never go back to this Walgreens and ill tell everyone I know not to either read more

I'm not a huge fan of the pharmacy- I use it only when the Virginia Mason Federal Way pharmacy is not open or an option. However, they have some wonderful cashier's up front. The makeup section is always super organized and there is a fantastic employee named Faye who is incredibly helpful & very nice. read more

I used to go this Walgreens frequently. Over the years the service has gotten worse and worse. Today I went in to get a prescription refilled. It was mid-day, I was the only customer in the pharmacy area. There were three pharmacy employees in the pharmacy. One was working with a drive through customer. The other two did not look up from what they were doing. I stood there for two or three minutes, feeling completely ignored. Finally I said "excuse me". One worker, the pharmacist I think, looked up from her work station and said 9indicating the the worker who was helping the drive through customer), "She'll be with you in a minute". It was 3-4 minutes. The other two employees continued, heads down over their workstations. Finally, the third employee, the one who had been helping the drive-through, came over. I told her the two medications I wanted refilled. My doctor had already called them in. The clerk said, "Well, you can wait or come back later to pick them up." Bear in mind, I am the only person in the pharmacy at this point. I asked how long the wait would be. She said "20 minutes". 20 minutes to put up a routine refill order. I'm the only person in the store! This is not the first time i've received uncaring, lax service at this Walgreens. But it is the last. read more

This is probably the worst pharmacy I've been to, starting with the manager. His repeated mannerisms lead me to believe that he has little to no people skills or compassion for the ill, as he seems genuinely irritated and bothered by most of the customers each time I have come here. There is more often than not an unreasonably long line while the manager slowly mopes about, not seeming to care. The last time I was painfully in this line winding around the store for more than a half hour, only to be told that my prescription for my serious illness I desperately needed would take several hours to fill (how many hours does it really take to put a few pills in a bottle?). This wasn't even the part that seriously upset me. The worst part was that there was a sweet elderly woman in a walker painfully standing in line in front of me for a long time, only to be treated rudely and disrespectfully by the manager when she reached the front of the line. In fact, I have seen this manager be rude to multiple customers, including myself before. If anything is to improve, that manager needs to be replaced with someone better equipped to manage. Despite my serious concerns with this pharmacy, I will say that there is one employee, a woman with brown hair, that is professional, kind, accommodating, friendly, and helpful. If only we could clone her to fully staff the pharmacy, I would be giving this Walgreens rave reviews. read more

They kept calling and leaving an automated message about My prescriptions being ready so I went in that day and sat for a half hour before they told Me that I did not have any prescriptions showing that same day I had 3 additional prescriptions being sent for My daughter from Her doctor and they had no record of those either even thought the Dr is literally a couple blocks away and had sent them hours earlier, They told Me to hang around whilst they called the Dr's and they would sort it out which I did an hour later and after spending 60$ buying random stuff around the store out of boredom I left empty handed. The women there barely speak English and are hard to understand, I only came in because they sent messages saying I had meds to pick up. One of My meds was for birth control which they denied because they said a Dr I seen over a year ago said to even though He was no longer My Dr. (Update Your computers??) Also there is a very long haired guy that looks like He could be on GoT that works there I do believe He is a manager He will tail You around treating You like You are stealing stuff if You have to be there for an hour waiting for their Pharmacy that takes forever as well as a rude lady that works the photo department that was laughing at Me and making fun of Me when I was 10 months pregnant (yes a month late) and rather large. I heard her saying oh my god shes as big as a house and laughing with Her coworker and yes I was being a month late but that is very unprofessional. read more
