I am sharing my experience…read morebecause I believe the public deserves to know how I was treated at this pharmacy, particularly customers who rely on Medicare and Medi-Cal. When I initially contacted this pharmacy, I was never informed that they would not be willing to provide the brand-name medication prescribed to me and would instead only provide the generic version. Had I been told this upfront, I could have made an informed decision and chosen a different pharmacy. Unfortunately, I did not learn about this limitation until after I had already chosen this pharmacy and transferred my prescriptions. I eventually spoke directly with the owner of the pharmacy about the situation. During our conversation, he explained to me that if he ordered the brand-name medication for me, he would lose money. He also told me that he would love to keep me as a customer forever, but that continuing to order my brand-name prescriptions would result in him losing money. I found this extremely concerning and upsetting. As a customer, my expectation was to be treated with honesty, professionalism, and respect--not made to feel as though the medication I was prescribed was a financial burden because of my insurance coverage. The way this conversation was handled left me feeling dismissed, embarrassed, and humiliated. Rather than feeling like a valued customer, I felt that the pharmacy's financial considerations were being placed ahead of my needs. I have Medicare and Medi-Cal, and this experience has made me seriously question whether customers with these types of insurance are being treated differently because of their coverage. I cannot speak for every customer or determine the owner's intentions, but based on my personal experience and what was communicated to me, I felt that my insurance and the financial considerations associated with it played a significant role in the treatment I received. That is why I feel it is important for other customers to know about my experience. Customers with Medicare and Medi-Cal deserve the same dignity, transparency, courtesy, and respect as anyone else. If a pharmacy is unable or unwilling to provide certain medications because doing so is financially disadvantageous to the pharmacy, customers should be told that before transferring their prescriptions. No customer should have to transfer their prescriptions first and then discover that the pharmacy is unwilling to provide the medication they need. Before choosing this pharmacy, I strongly recommend asking very specific questions, especially if you have Medicare, Medi-Cal, or other insurance coverage: * Will you fill my specific medication? * Will you provide the brand-name medication if my doctor prescribes it? * Are there medications you will not order because of cost or reimbursement? * Are there restrictions based on my insurance that I should know about before transferring my prescriptions? I am posting this review so that others can make an informed decision before placing their prescriptions and their trust in this pharmacy. Every customer deserves to be treated with dignity and respect--regardless of the insurance they carry.

She also doesn't bathe regularly, and when I went in recently, the whole store reeked. She's a lovely girl but clearly has issues. Any health facility-including a pharmacy-should focus on cleanliness. They also don't charge my insurance and I have to tell them every time. They want me to pay full price. I'll give it one last month but then after 30 years, I'm going to have no choice but to transfer everything to CVS.

After the continued decline of safeway in the last few years, the huge mark up in prices, "I mean more than whole foods now", I have decided to move my prescriptions and not shop there again. It is too bad what has happened to this store over the years. With the new owners, it is like they are just making it into slum store. Safeway used to be my favorite place to shop. We both have serious health problems and complicated medication schedules. At one point in my life, I was taking 33 different prescribed pills every day. Some were taken in the morning, some with meals, some later in the day, and others at bedtime. Trying to organize all of that myself would have been confusing, exhausting, and potentially dangerous. Carmichael LTC made it simple with their bubble packs. The medications are organized according to the time of day they need to be taken. The packaging includes a medication list, pictures and descriptions of the pills, brand and generic names, prescribing doctors, refill information, and clear instructions. When you wake up in a morning fog, you do not have to stare at 33 bottles and figure out what belongs where. You simply open the morning pack and take it. That convenience brings tremendous peace of mind. For years, they have stayed on top of our prescriptions and refills. They contact our doctors when necessary and usually deliver our medications several days before we run out. They have handled pills, injections, liquids, eye drops, and just about everything else we have needed. This is not a giant, impersonal chain pharmacy. It is a small and dedicated group of people who know their customers and take pride in their work. Saira, the owner, leads a wonderful team. Her assistant, Hala, is truly exceptional. She is fast, efficient, organized, friendly, and consistently on top of every detail. Hala has a way of making even complicated medication issues feel under control. Alex is fantastic on the phone, and the staff normally answers immediately or very quickly. Their online portal also allows customers to ask questions and request refills without having to make a phone call. Amanda, their delivery person, is wonderful. She delivers through rain, heat, and whatever else the weather brings. Our dogs come running out to sniff her and jump around, and she always takes a moment to greet them and make them feel special. There is also something uniquely personal about a pharmacy that provides medications for every nook and cranny of my 27-acre body! They know things about your health that only family normally knows! Because of the intimate and important position they hold in our lives, we consider Saira, Hala, Amanda, Alex, and the rest of the team part of our family. Of course, everyone is human, and an occasional minor mistake can happen anywhere. What matters is how quickly and responsibly it is handled. In all our years with Carmichael LTC, they have consistently provided accurate, dependable service without any major or life-changing problems. Prescription after prescription and year after year, they continue to shine. They have earned our trust, our gratitude, and our loyalty.
