This was our first visit to Walker's. First the good news, we started off with the stuffed mushrooms appetizer. Excellent. The salad was delicious (the house dressing is all they offer but it is very good). My husband's main course, Chicken Limone, was excellent. I ordered Ricotta Stuffed Ravioli with Bolognese Sauce. It was okay but not hot. Now for the bad. Since we were celebrating my husband's birthday, I made reservations for 6 pm on Saturday. We were seated in the corner booth with me facing the A/C intake. This was not a pleasant site because it was extremely dirty. In fact I could see black dust hanging off of my husband's bench. That sort of ruined the dinner for me. One wonders what the kitchen looks like. After we were seated I could see that there were plenty of seats on the patio and it was a lovely evening. If cleanliness is important to you I suggest you say something to the owners. The food is good and this is a popular spot so I don't want to discourage anyone from going. My wife and I discovered this place on Valentine's Day, and have visited consistently since. Every meal come with a generous serving of salad and delicious garlic knots. For appetizers, we've had both the Crab Crostinis and the Shrimp Oreganata, which are excellent. I have to force myself to not order the Fettuccine Duchessa every time I go because I want to try other dishes, but that dish is outstanding. Fresh fettuccine pasta, lovely cream sauce...getting hungry just thinking about it. The Ravioli Riviera special is absolutely amazing too. It's a little ways away from Williamsburg, but it's been worth the trip every time. The people are very friendly and service is timely but not rushed (which is perfect since they pace the meal right with appetizers, salad, knots, and your entree). They also have a great covered patio area where you can sit and enjoy your meal outside. Can't recommend this place enough. Definitely make a reservation (they are on OpenTable). read more

Like many have mentioned, this is in quite a bizarre location for a restaurant. It's in a camp ground/trailer park and right on the river. The appetizers are all quite good, from the seafood soup to the garlic bread. There's not many restaurants where I'll consistently order the same thing; however, in this case the phrase "if the machine ain't broke don't fix it." I always ordered the rack of lamb. I always got it medium rare and it was perfect. The seasoning was a mixture of spices that I couldn't name except basil. The spinach and greens made the meal perfectly balanced. I'd highly suggest this restaurant to everyone in the Williamsburg area, it's better than 95% of all restaurants in the New Kent/Williamsburg region. read more

First, it was weird having an Italian restuarant on a lake that is a camp ground. The house salad was good and the garlic knots. Out of the four in the group, two were satisfied with their food, but those two eat anything. The other two in group had not so good time with food. We are locals and found this the first time on Groupon. It is now our "special occasion" go to for the best meals we have ever had. We have taken our out of town children with their kids, and they agree. We're retired and on a budget or we would be there once a week. Ditto about the outdated interior and limited seating inside. VERY CASUAL DRESS! No debit/credit cards, but they have an ATM which of course carries a fee for that service. This is literally 5 star food in a 1 star location. Now don't get me wrong being located on a campground is one thing, but the ambiance gives you the feel of a high school lunch room too. (Oh did I mention that they do not accept credit cards..cash only) My wife and I came in this place with a suit and dress just by viewing the menu online alone. Also you must walk through a small rickadee door to enter this restaurant. (Be careful going through the 1st door will send you to the general store) As we were eating I saw a huge cat walk across the outside patio. Perhaps it maybe a local cat. Now with that being said I must say that this is absolutely the best food in this area by far. I had the porterhouse steak, and it was amazing. I may have tasted one better in my lifetime and that porterhouse was almost two hundred dollars while this is under thirty dollars. My wife had the stuffed crab ravioli. It was delicious also. Hidden in a campground on the water which at first threw us off. The outside looks just like a 60s era bar and grill. Once inside the decor is tired and rustic without charm, wood picnic table like seating, mass produced "oil" pictures on the walls and an awkward two dining room layout. Don't walk out. You'll miss some excellent Italian food at a very reasonable price! The food is always tasty, well prepared and generous in portion served by an older wait staff that is friendly and casually familiar with the large local clientele. Fish is freshly caught and served and really the highlight of the menu for me. The meal starts with homemade garlic knots and a large bowl of salad to serve all at the table. Generally, we don't order appetizers as the meals are so large but we have had the caprese salad. It was delicious and very large, satisfying our table of four easily.It comes dressed more than other caprese salad I've had with roasted red peppers, olives and artichoke hearts. One of my favorites is the Rockfish Allimone which is prepared in a white wine, lemon and butter sauce. It doesn't get any fresher than this! Delicious and such a generous portion that I usually end up taking the rest home for lunch the next day. My husband raves about the braised pork shank and after tasting his, I have to agree it is out of this world tasty. We were staying at a resort in Williamsburg and read great reviews about the food, so we decided to take the 30 minute trip. The place is located on a campground and is pretty rundown. The hostess is not very pleasant and we had to walk through the serving station to get to our table. The biggest issue was the sweltering temperature inside the restaurant. It was at least 85 degrees inside, and although our server told us that the A/C was indeed on, there is no way I would have stayed if we didn't have four hungry kids with us and we'd just driven 30 minutes to get here. So we settled in, very uncomfortably, and prayed the food would be worth it. The kids' meals were inexpensive (four bucks for pasta) and passable. The adults ordered eggplant rollatine and a caprese salad. The salad was a giant platter of mozzarella slices (average), tomatoes (underripe by at least a few days), artichoke hearts (canned), two types of olives (tasty), and a few roasted peppers (tasted homemade). Now onto the star, which was the eggplant rollatine. It was literally the best version of this dish that I've ever had. The ricotta was divine, the sauce perfectly spiced, and the eggplant delicate and delicious. Based on this dish, I can see why people would want to make the trek to this offbeat spot. I can't truky recommend this place because of the horrid heat and the dirtiness of the kitchen (which can be clearly seen when you enter the door, since the kitchen door was propped open due to the heat). Our server was a total sweetheart, and confided that the owner of the building refuses to fix the A/C due to the cost. However, the eggplant dish was a standout. If you're willing to make the trip to a campground to find it, don't mind the sweltering heat inside the restaurant, and can deal with a dirty kitchen, then you are in for a treat with most of the food items. read more

Fantastic Italian food!! The service was friendly and polite. The garlic knots were delicious and came out hot. The Italian salad was fresh and the Italian dressing was just right on the salad. My husband and I shared a penne pasta dish and my parents shared the lobster ravioli. Everything was hot and delicious. It was so good that we decided to try dessert. We all shared the tiramisu. It was fantastic!! I haven't had tiramisu like that in many many years. This place does take credit cards even though their signs say they don't. Just call ahead because she did tell us the wifi is iffy sometimes and when the wifi is down they can't process the cards. This restaurant is a hidden gem - an authentic Italian restaurant located on a campground. The food is amazing and everything is homemade. Portions are huge - you will definitely go home with a box! It would be best to make a reservation since the restaurant is small and it does fill up quickly - which leads to my only complaint. We did have a reservation, and the hostess seemed incredibly confused. She walked away from us 3 times without telling us anything and then finally took us to our table after several minutes of confusion. Otherwise, they were flawless. read more

This place is a HIDDEN GEM! Top notch italian food. Don't let the fact that it's at a campground fool you. The food is impeccable and delicious every time I go; they never disappoint. I don't think they are pricey considering you get enough good to feed an army; however, if you are worried about the price, they have specials on Wednesdays and Sundays (I think it's buy one get one half off or something like that). They take it back 5-10 minutes later the right dish comes out but all they did was strain my pasta and add Alfredo. It taste nasty with the mixture of sauces. Cioppino was salty and lacking seafood. Salad delicious. Garlic knots were boring. Steak and shrimp were over cooked. I asked for medium and got rock hard in 1 side and bloody on the other. Crab cake was full of filler and overcooked. Wow, I normally have low expectations of campground restaurants, and the decor and layout of the restaurant didn't say this was going to be anything more than more typical campground fare. I also went on a slow Sunday at the tail end of the off season, so the deck was stacked against them, but they still delivered. I'm from RI and used to Providence and Boston Italian restaurants. Would this compete with the best of them? No, but would be in the top 20 percent. Great surprise in an unlikely location. Veal parm was real veal, fettuccine asiago was well balanced and comforting. The Insalata Caprese was different, including artichoke hearts along with olives, peppers, mozzarella and tomatoes. The artichoke wasn't the best, but the rest delicious. read more

What an interesting experience! This restaurant is in an odd location, as all the other reviews said, but well worth the trip! We ended up with take how boxes for almost everything because the portion sizes are so huge. The eggplant rollatine appetizer could have fed 5! My husbands osso bucco fell off the bone and he is using his fingers, rude, to get the last bits of sauce. I had the rock fish limone and it was really delicious. The fish was just a couple of minutes overdone but still tender. We will definitely return! Ask to sit outside because they won't immediately put you out there unless you do. read more

Well this is one of the best Italian restaurant I have visited. If you are visiting Williamsburg it is worth driving about 20-25 mins to eat here. First when I drove to this place I was little worried looking around the place. It is kinda of boat dock .Restaurant is located on the water front. Don't get beaten by exterior look . Inside was very clean and nice. Since I am a vegetarian , I ordered Egg plant rollantine, Margarita pizza, penne Primavera and my son ordered a raviolli custom made without any meat. I would say everything is excellent not exaggerated. When we went there we are not super hungry but still we enjoyed the taste. The chef had made every food with same care. And the service is excellent. Amie is our server, she is very good. I noticed most of them are above middle aged and I think they work there not for only money. They are really doing their service. I went kind of an hour to close. So I couldn't say about the crowd. But I reserved ahead to avoid the surprises. In my opinion this place is worth a try. read more

I'm from NH, so anyone familiar with Boston's North End knows that the authentic Italian food there is amazing. Walker's Dam Grill brings me home! The food is superb. The authentic flavors in their dishes are never disappointing. The portion sizes are large and the salad and garlic knots are...yum! We love this place. FYI...the is my son's "FAVORITE" restaurant. This place is one in a million! First visit was NYE 2015 and the place was JAMMED. It's located in BFE and quite a drive back in Never-Neverland at a campground no less. It is really off the beaten path so the food has got to be jammin'. It is. Our party of 5 had a 7o'clock reservation but were seated closer to 7:30. The menu is extensive and offers many different Italian sauces along with the traditional marinara. Even though I ordered Chicken Lemone I asked the waitress to bring 'a meatball' with their sauce to try it. So many places lack in that department in my experience. I grew up with an Italian restaurant that we frequented almost weekly, and my dad was a stickler for cleanliness and great food. Ciola's motto was, "it's the sauce that counts". I base my opinion on what I grew up with and this is one of the few places that carries my stamp of approval. The sauce was primo and the meatballs were just outstanding. I passed them around the table so everyone could sample. My Chicken Limone was super lemony, moist, and pasta was cooked to perfection. Wait staff is superior, friendly, accommodating and just plain fantastic. They're there to see to your comfort and satisfaction. It works. The place was slammed and the help was just that with a huge smile on their faces. Frequent checks on your table and your drinks. We wanted for not much. Our requests were attended to immediately. They serve a family style salad according to head count with an oil & vinegar based dressing; right down my alley. I just can't say enough about this place.
