My server was really nice, and food was delicious until I found a hard piece of plastic in my waffle. My server (sorry I didn't get his name) was very apologetic, and took care of it immediately. I understand things like this happen, and I am thankful it was just plastic, but why didn't the manager come out to talk to me? It's was their responsibility not that of the waiter. read more

Sausage Gravy, Over N Easy eggs on top of a Waffle with syrup and butter included. What is better then that for breakfast? I love this joint and will try to convince my family to hit this place up in the future. My waffle wasn't quite as buttery and tasty as I like but it is better than most waffle places. I also thought I could have used 1/2 cup more of gravy on my waffle. My wife ordered the waffle breakfast sandwich. I forget the official name but it is a two egg omelette between a waffle. My wife used a little of my gravy to place on her sandwich. She also took the top half off and ate that half as a waffle. The sandwich needed gravy as it was a bit too dry for our taste. The coffee wasnt too bad and their OJ was in a nice big cup. Service was pretty good as I had plenty of coffee refills. Prices were very good. I want to go back and try some other menu items but chances are I would stuck with gravy on waffles as my top selection. read more

This Wally Waffle moved from the location downtown by Children's to the spot where Metro Burger used to damn near grease-fire you out of the building (poor ventilation it seemed). The spot is pretty chill. It's small - they didn't have a palatial area to work with - but they made good use of the space with booths and tables while fitting in a place for you to sit while you wait for people to stop rubbing it in that they're eating and you're waiting. We got carry out the last time we went, and I waiting 20 minutes past the 20 minutes they told me I'd wait, but the place is just open and I'm sure they're working a kink or two out before all the gears in this delicious machine mesh and the place hums along. Honestly, I had no idea what to expect from Wally Waffle. I went in thinking, "just another Midwest version of something great: ruined". However, the menu featured a lot of appetizing items. With it being my first visit, I went for the namesake: the waffle. I was having a hard time deciding between a chocolate chip waffle and a strawberry waffle. Luckily, I was able to combine the two for an extra $2, which seems reasonable to a degree until you realize that you are spending $8.50 for a waffle. So that is a mistake I will try not to make again. When my waffle came out it was light and airy, so it was clear that this waffle really didn't need the two toppings. I also got a side of home fries and those were really great. You can tell than everything is made there fresh rather than some pre-made frozen stuff. All in all, I'm glad I found a pretty good breakfast spot in Akron, especially a place where I can get breakfast all day long. I look forward to being a regular here. read more

We usually go as a group and the cut our waffles and share with everyone. There can be a wait, but it is never too long. I have never really had anything else on the menu, but I know they have huge bugers, but WAFFLES! !!!! Got the wally waffle special, it was just the right amount for two people. It's tucked right in the heart of highland square. We got there around 8 and it wasn't busy at all, but by the end of it around 9 am, it was picking up. Service was good. We go here a lot for brunches and breakfasts. Eh. It's not terrible. Not particularly good, either. Waffles are good--I'll give them that. Everything else is mediocre at best. On the other hand, for soaking up the booze on a Saturday morning, it's perfect. Provided you can find a table. The wait can get pretty hefty. My biggest beef with this joint is that I was audaciously served burnt toast once. WHAT? Okay, it was 7:30PM. But toast isn't hard to screw up. And if you DO screw it up, it's easy to fix. Here, I'll show you: 1) Throw out burnt piece 2) Open bag of bread 3) Get new piece 4) Put in toaster 5) Remove before turns black It's not like I asked them to bake me a new loaf made of special spelt flour tenderly cultivated in Spain. It comes from a bag. From, like, Costco. It's probably Schwebel's. And it also takes about 2 minutes to make, so I can handle that wait. AND! Get this: they had the utter gall to cover up the burnt toast with non-burnt toast. What, did you guys think I wouldn't find it under there? Maybe I'm making a big deal out of toast. I just feel like burnt toast is unacceptable at a breakfast place! AND IT'S SO EASY TO CORRECT! I just couldn't believe it. Other stuff: the hashbrowns were a bit soggy. The nice thing about this new location in Highland Square is that, unlike the old downtown spot, it stays open til 9 pm every day. The other nice thing is that their pancakes double as a laxative, which comes in handy if you're one of the countless poor hipster schlubs in the area whose daily diet consists primarily of five dollar pizzas from Georgio's and late night beer specials and sandwiches at the Matinee/Zub's. If you're in no need of any sort of dire gastrointestinal assistance, Wally Waffle is still a pretty good place for typical greasy breakfast fare. The waffles are their specialty (obviously), and they have quite a tasty variety. The aforementioned pancakes are the size of frisbees, and about half the fun in a beach or college campus setting. Seriously, they drop like bombs. There are some burgers and sandwiches and salads too, if that's your bag. The interior is small and bustling, which means you will most likely have to wait during the breakfast and brunch hours on the weekend. I forgot their names but one was a two egg omelet sandwiched in between a folded belgian waffle, and the other had two eggs, hash browns, pancakes, and sausage. The two items could easily feed four people! The service was friendly and relatively fast for a Father's Day brunch. There isn't much on the menu if you are looking for healthy options, but they do have lots to choose from, including lunch items. I hear they have some great burgers. Oh my gosh. I met my aunt and brother here for brunch several weeks ago. WOW! What a hidden little gem... in Akron, of all places. There was a bit of a wait, but WELL, WELL worth it! Imagine EVERY single thing in the world, as far as waffle options go, and they have it here! I ordered a pecan waffle with bananas. My bro ordered "What in the Waffle" which is biscuit gravy and eggs served OVER the waffle! WHOA. The waffles are flaky, not overly sweet, and soo good! The space is clean and cool too. Our first & second visits were VERY different (crowd different) so at first impression I thought my friend was nuts. As she quoted, "this is pretty much where all the families go after church" UM. My spouse and I ordered the chicken (cut up pieces instead of tenders which were also an option) and waffles. We both enjoyed the fried chicken as it was well seasoned and moist inside. The waffle was not as crisp as I would have liked but did have a good flavor. Our server was attentive and friendly. We would return to Wallys. They are opened everyday till 8pm now. Update : This place is under new management and has re-opened after several weeks of closing due to a kitchen fire. I've not been back since then but I'm sure they're not opened until 8pm now. Help is professional. My basic order of plain waffle and scrambled eggs took very long time. Server explained that delay was due to so many delivery orders. Waffle, Awesome. Eggs, very cold and dry - though the eggs arrived to my table on an extremely hot plate. I would wait again until the delivery orders are cooked before I put order in. I haven't been to Wally Waffle in a few years and this was the first time I had been to the Market Street location. My girlfriend, friend and I waited for about 30-35 minutes for a table on Sunday around 11:30; it was busy which is what I remember, heard and expected. Overall, the restaurant is clean and new, and the service we experienced was great; our waters and coffee were always full. The issue I have is with the food itself. Besides the Patriot Waffle (which if you go, I'd definitely recommend! It was delicious), all of the food was just ok. I ordered the "Big Daddy" breakfast and my grits had entirely too much butter in them. I understand that they need butter but it was way too much. Also, my pieces of sausage and bacon and my eggs were overcooked (sausage & eggs) and undercooked (bacon). I'm not a picky eater or one to criticize, but I know I could get those items cooked the same way at Bob Evans. I didn't have super high expectations, but I did expect a little more especially after waiting 35 minutes and knowing that the prices were higher than most of the other breakfast places in the area. If I ever go back, I'd definitely get the waffles as the Patriot was amazing but I'd prefer to go to other breakfast places such as Sweet Peas, Blue Door or The Eye Opener. read more

Every time you enter the building there's always a wait like up to 15 to 25 minutes, they're always super busy in there The waffles were pretty good however I tried their cheeseburger and I was very greasy I know cheeseburgers or greasy but this one was too greasy. our waitress kept coming back to the table after our food was already on the table and telling us that each additional item cost extra like Wally fries stuff we already had on our plate, was not told while ordering. all around the breakfast is not bad and the waffles are good be prepared to be in there for 45 min to 1 hour. Don't be fooled by people telling you it's cheap. For four people it cost me $75 in there. read more

When I lived in Akron I made sure to come to wally's at least once a week. I now live in Berkeley, CA and have yet to find a breakfast place that equals Wally's in the bay area. It is a great relaxing spot that gives you a feeling like home at the same time offering a great variety of choices. Even though it is predominantly a waffle spot and the waffles are amazing, the breakfast sandwich is underrated. Along with Swensons and Luigi's, I make sure to stop in Wally's every time I'm back in town. read more
