My husband loves breakfast any time of day, so while visiting the area we stumbled across Wally's. It was about 145pm on a Saturday and packed! The food took a little bit, but we could tell that two large tables ordered right ahead of us, so it was expected. He had French toast with fruit glaze and I had a chicken tender salad. All the ingredients on my salad were FRESH! It was delicious. I of course had to try his French toast. It was cooked perfectly. I had the strawberry w bananas and although it was delicious they actually put too much fruit in the middle of the waffle, which made the center soggy. When you arrive, there is an iPad near the front door to join the waitlist on yelp. We waited about 10 minutes for a table. The server was attentive and our food came out timely. Well I'm not from Akron but my ex is & she has my kids so I come to visit & wanted to take them somewhere quick to eat. I was searching for Waffle House & Wally Waffle came up. So, I'm like let's try it. So we arrive & there are people everywhere waiting to eat. Hostess tells us that we have to check ourselves in at the tablet out front. (If I knew this I would have done this ahead of time. Highly recommended doing this before you go here) So we check in & wait is 17-35 mins. So I'm like idk if kids gonna wait that long. So I still check in & I'm looking around to see if there is something else quick. Nothing so we wait. OMGOODNESS. Well worth the wait. The food was GREAT. I really don't like waffles but these ones were pretty good. And the chicken was perfection. I would recommend this place to anybody. They could give me my food and not steal my money, that'd be nice. Placed an order the day before, not knowing the store was closed. Didn't get my food, expectedly. Called back the next morning and was told no worries, they'd remake the food for me. Went to the restaurant expecting my order - didn't get it (this is a 20 minute one way trip, mind you) but the manager decided it cost too much money to remake (they screwed it up the 2nd time and had to make it a 3rd time - I was unaware. You'd think they'd know how to make waffles considering that's their thing, but I digress) Nevertheless, I was denied both my order AND a refund (near $30 later). The manager on duty was rude and unreasonable as well. I don't normally leave many reviews, but this information needs to be known. This was a good spot to stop in with the 2 kids around lunch time on a Saturday. We only had a 5 minute wait. Due to the size of the waffles compared to the size of my young kids we ordered 2 waffles to share (and still took some home). We got the Patriot which has strawberries, blueberries and bananas with whip cream. It was a hit! We also got a deconstructed version of the What in the Waffle? Ordered the Belgian waffle, asked for two ham, sunny side up eggs, and hash browns and substituted sugar free syrup for regular. I always order my waffle with whip cream and sugar free syrup. They usually include the ketchup and butter. I said I wanted sugar free syrup twice. Also asked for whipped cream to be added in with the regular condiments. Didn't get any of the condiments like butter, only regular syrup. My sunny side up eggs were thrown in with my hash browns so they were completely soggy and soaked in yolk. When I called I was told next time to grab someone and double check my bag before I go and to next time ask for those condiments (which I did) and there would be an up charge....which I knew this is not my first time going here. It's actually my favorite breakfast place but this was an awkward encounter. The person taking my order definitely seemed to pin the blame of her coworkers on me. I was also told next time I need to tell my server to bag everything separately if I didn't want my eggs with my hash browns and that there weren't any notes for my special requests. She said they usually bag the meat, eggs and hash browns together (even though my ham was separate) but to ask for everything bagged separate next time. What is this, some demented children's restaurant? Why don't we go to that walk-up burrito place on the corner instead? Oh, you judgmental fool. The things you'll miss out on. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. It's also the most delicious meal of the day, when it's done right. I've been subjected to places that serve browned eggs, soggy hash browns, and the worst atrocity of all: burnt-to-hell bacon. But not at Wally Waffle. Oh, Wally isn't playing around with breakfast. Obviously, if you've got a food in your name, you'd better have a great recipe up your sleeve for that marquee dish. The waffles are really tasty. There's a nice touch of sweetness in the waffles, and they're the best mix of fluffy and substantial. There's a good "spring" to the waffles. But why just stick to regular waffles and the same old plan diner breakfast fare? Why not go a little crazy and over the top? That's why my wife went with the Elvis pancakes. 3 ENORMOUS pancakes with peanut butter chips and bacon baked in, topped with whipped cream and bananas. This could easily feed 4 people, but it's so good that you'll try to finish it all by yourself. I chose the Chicken N' Waffle. Most places that serve chicken and waffles can only get one of the two right. This was a totally satisfying dish. The chicken wings were crispy and tasty without being greasy. The waffle was sweet, buttery, and soft. After being topped with a generous splash of syrup and many, many dashes of hot sauce, this quickly disappeared from my plate. We had a party of 8, where half of the people attending were kids under 6 years old. Even with those accommodations and a busy Sunday brunch rush, they got us in and settled in less than 15 minutes. The only drawback? I didn't get to take a giant nap immediately after eating all that food. If someone wants to open a Bed and Breakfast in conjunction with Wally Waffle, that would at least guarantee 1 visitor. read more

Wally waffle has always been one of my favorite places to eat since the 90's ; I became gluten sensitive. I moved away in 2000.. when I come back to visit from New York I eat at Wally waffle faithfully( eggs/bacon)But since I returned another year and now there is a gluten-free waffle... The taste the texture has a sweet flavor it's cake like which is wonderful.. I had whip cream/peanut butter chips. I was able to add hashbrowns eggs and chorizo patties. I went back to Wally Waffle today. Unfortunately, the experience wasn't much better. I had the breakfast burger. The fries were great. The egg on the burger was great as well. However, the burger was way overcooked and therefore dry. I asked for medium and as you can see in the picture, it is beyond well done. When I paid my bill, the waitress shorted me $5 on change. These little things suggest to me that the staff just needs better training and more quality control. I want to like this place but now we are up to two experiences where dining 101 stuff is lacking. I think this place can be a good breakfast and lunch place, but until there is consistency in quality, I think it will just be a place that we would go to if we happened to be in the area. read more
