The cheese prices are equal to those at Monsieur Marcel Gourmet Market and approx 30% more reasonable that the prices at Joan's on Third. Take a load off. Have a glass of wine and a grilled cheese or pizza. Everything will be okay Street parking is not fun. Service is inconsistent and bad most often. The hostess think they ate too much. After searching the site for several minutes, and then spending several additional minutes in voicemail hell after I located a phone number, I spoke to a live person who told me that yes, they have this wine in stock -- but only at the restaurant, so it will have to be transferred to the store, which will take approximately 48 hours. What? I don't know if Wally's is a liquor store, a cheese and wine shop, a restaurant, or some combination of those. Maybe it's all of them. I just know they can't sell me wine they list as 'available' on their website until Friday. I'm confused and disinterested, and I'm going to order elsewhere. read more

We love everything about this place! The wine selection is stellar. Service is excellent. My favorite is the cheese charcuterie platter. Ask for a side of marcona almonds. We have been here many times. We recently ordered a "to go" picnic and brought it with us to the Hollywood bowl. Highly recommend this to my friends coming in from out of town. It's hard not to be blown away upon walking into Wally's. Shelves upon shelves of wine line the walls. A massive cheese counter has an incredible selection of imported and domestic cheeses. The bar seating keeps dining casual and lively. I've been here for lunch a few times now. I really enjoy their salads and sandwiches particularly the hero and the beet salad. The menu is quite varied and offers a ton of sandwiches, fish and meat dishes. The only thing I didn't enjoy it was their grilled cheese. Their wine by the glass selection is incredible. You have the opportunity to try some really special bottles by the glass. Service is very hit or miss. Most recently I had an incredible waiter and food came out so quickly. But last weekend my husband and I waited over 20 minutes for the glass of wine order to arrive. I love the market section of the store and I bought incredible Italian dried pasta and some chocolates. Overall a welcome addition to Beverly Hills. They're open late night as well, which is nice as many places in Beverly Hills close early. read more

As much as I dislike Beverly Hills, this place is a gem. I did come here during the day so I missed the happy hour crowd. I was mesmerized by the walls of wine bottles, all I was thinking was ... I hope I'm not in here when an earthquake hits LOL! Amazing wine selection, do I know what 75% of them are? Nope! That's what the server is there for. She recommended 2 great red and 2 great whites for me. I stick with full bodied reds and crisp and dry whites. Just make sure to ask how much a glass is because they are expensive. They also have a full bar so if you're not into wine then hard liquor is there for you! We didn't have cheese or anything fancy so I can't comment on the food. I have now gone to Wally's 3 times and each time have been outstanding! Food is good (somewhat overpriced imo). The $100 chicken is amazing and the sauce that comes with it is divine! Some might say that $100 is a lot for chicken but it made me and my party of 4 (including me) full and it has shaved truffle on top as well which adds to the price however 100/4 = 25, $25 dollars for main isnt expensive. For me the seating is the only downside to this place. If you are looking to enjoy being at Wally's for few hours make sure you get a seat with a back rest. read more

The seating was a little tight as myself and my girlfriend were seated at a large table in between 2 parties but it was resolved when we scooted over once a party left. We started with the purple and blue salad. Phenomenál!! Figs, beets, radish, purple pickled cauliflower and great blue cheese. Just perfect. Charcuterie plate- we got the Stilton blue, cana de oveja, and gruyere.. Jamon serrano and prosciutto. All very good Lamb shank off the bone - a bit salty but great flavor combinations all around Ribeye with pomme frite- good but a little salty as well Strawberry & violet- the ice cream was perfect and the macerated strawberries with strawberry sauce was great. I have ordered from Wally's Wines for years! They were my #1 store when I needed to have deliveries to celebs, entertainers, or anyone for that matter. Their selection is incredible. Unfortunately, I was shocked to see how they handled business. I thought maybe because of Covid, they are having a hard time with deliveries. I ordered my boss a great basket for Boss's Day and paid a hefty amount to have it delivered the next day. Not only did they not deliver it until FIVE DAYS LATER, they never apologized or sent a note to my Boss. I tried to cancel the order and that's when the order was delivered. I called them four times and left messages and was never called back. So disappointed to see Wally's do business this way. Never again Wally's will you do this to me....never again. read more

I was immediately shocked by how big this place is. Don't let the little patio out front fool you. We came on a Thursday night as a party of five at 8pm. It was a packed house but we could be seated. I was annoyed by communal tables, but quickly got over it, as there was so much to see in this place. The vastness of the wines selection was mind-boggling. This place is quiet the scene of very unique people. Not one dull moment all evening. Bar manager Carl Roberts is hilarious. It is worth ordering a drink just to hear one of his cheesy jokes. We share a bottle of mid-priced wine - 2013 Tor Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon that we were all pleased with. We started with the CHARCUTERIE & CHEESE plate, which vanished before we knew it. Not even one grain of mustard was left on the board. While we were trying to decide on food, Chef David Féau came to our table and answered our questions about the menu. He was very personable and helpful. Pretty much everyone that worked there was great. We finally decided on the following. PURPLE AND BLUE SALAD * roasted beets, blueberry, pickled cucumber, grapes, red cabbage, buffalo milk bleu cheese, pistachio, balsamic and olive oil $18 It was very fresh, light and we all agreed we would order that salad again. GRILLED OCTOPUS * chorizo spices, pickled honeydew, fava beans, black garlic mayo, puffed buckwheat $24 This practically melted in your mouth. Combined with the pickled honeydew, makes this dish borderline genius. PIZZETTA PEACH GOAT CHEESE * creamy goat cheese, parmesan, treviso, shaved peach $17 We enjoy this pizzetta, but there were so many other wonderful things that we had ordered that this ended up as my take home. I ate it the next day and it held up and tasted great. HOUSEMADE GREEN SPAGHETTI * smoked garlic opal basil pesto, peppercress, grana padano $27 The portion seemed a little small, but packed a great flavor. MOROCCAN CAULIFLOWER * ras el hanout, raisins, almonds, preserved lemon and date purée $16 I just got back from Morocco a couple of months ago and this authentic tasting dish brought back great memories for me. Everyone else just seemed to enjoy the complex flavors. TRUFFLE POMME FRITES * grated parmesan, shaved Burgundy truffle $19 The fries were good, not the best I have had, but that probably is just me. ROASTED HERITAGE GALLUS BRUN BONE-IN HALF CHICKEN* smashed fingerling potatoes, broccolini, albufera sauce 95 OMG! I know this dish is stupid expensive, but worth every penny. The chicken was perfectly tender and the sauce was like none other I have tasted. Now if the sauce was served with the French fries, I think they would be the best I have ever had. I pretty much ate all of smashed fingerling potatoes and I hope no one noticed. Next time I will order these on their own and maybe even make a meal of them. Divine. The people in this place feel VERY LA. Small bar was crowded, but we were able to get seats quickly at the community table in the back. You sit close to your neighbors, but the volume of the place is loud enough that you can't hear every word they say unless you try. Wine list was impressive with prices to match- lowest prices ~$18 and go up dramatically from there. Food sounded interesting, and looked pretty on the plate, but was underwhelming. - White peach and burrata- cheese was nice and creamy, but the peaches not very sweet. Perhaps too late in the season for good peaches. It is late September after all, maybe time to switch to a fall menu. The rye chip was more of a garnish. This cheese needed some good bread for eating. - Purple and blue salad- all the right sounding ingredients, but the dish fell flat. Beets weren't very sweet, cucumbers didn't taste pickled. It had plenty of olive oil, but not enough acid from the balsamic. Wouldn't order this again. - Octopus- managed to be overcooked without having any char on the outside. The sauce tasted a bit like a barbecue-ketchup. Meh. - Twice fried smashed fingerling potatoes- these were hot and tasty- what's you'd expect for something fried and then fried again. They were flattened more than I expected, more like eating crispy home fries or thick chips. Oven roasted vegetables- these were just bad. They may have been steamed, but certainly not roasted to bring out any sweetness from the veggies. The bean-squash medley with some spiralized garnish overall fell flat. My friend tells me this place is hot, so glad we checked it out. But sadly, though the menu looks like all the things I usually love, I wasn't a fan. read more

Hard to believe I've been here 4 times and never took the time to write a review - I really like this place obviously (I've been here often). They did a great job with the ambiance. It's very much like being in a wine cellar. If you choose to sit outside it's great people watching. From the Pizzette to the burger and salads - the food is very good. I really think the star is the ability to have a warm, inviting, chic, cellar like environment with no snobbery - it is always welcoming. First off I want to start this review on a good note. The food was amazing. We got the Truffle pizza, the Smoked Brie, and the Wagyu Beef Tartar. All of which was amazing and loved the food. But the reason for the 1 star review isn't for the food or the location, it's for the horrendous staff. Everyone from the hostess to the manager was absolutely horrible. The hostess looked very unprofessional, wasn't wearing her mask correctly and was flirting with every guy versus doing her job. Another point there was 2 ladies at the table behind us who were enjoying their night and 2 guys on the other side of the barriers and bushes without their mask were conversing for about 45 minutes. They were hanging over the bushes and disrupting everyone around them with vulgar comments and being completely loud and obnoxious. The staff did nothing about this as we observed them wait on the table and other tables around them. Secondly, our waitress didn't know anything about the wines to suggest, didn't know anything about pairings and when we asked for a wine they didn't have it and instead of making adequate suggestions she brought someone else to offer up suggestions. I don't blame her, I blame her superiors on the lack of training. Furthermore, I do blame her on the lack of attentiveness. As a waitress you're supposed to check in on the tables you're waiting on and ask how is everything, is there anything else I can get you, so on and so forth? She did none of that, we probably saw her 3x in the 2+ hours we were there. Thirdly, and quite frankly the worst was the manager. Up until this point I would have gave this place a 3 star review. This manager definitely dropped their rating to a 1 star after receiving the worst customer service I've ever received. Honestly, I have received better customer service from fast food restaurants than from this manager. When it came down to the bill, our group wanted to split the bill with a gift card my sister received. The waitress told us their gift card machine was down and they're unable to accept gift cards at this time. So we asked to speak with the manager. She responded with, "well he's just going to tell you what I told you." So we then insisted to speak with the manager. 20 minutes later the manager still hasn't come to our table, I then got up and asked for the manager to come to our table and he arrived 30 seconds later. When the manager came to our table he told us the gift card machine was down and they're unable to accept the gift card at this time. My sister responded with "how is that our problem, we had this gift card and that swayed our decision to visit your establishment at this time." She had the receipt that had the amount gifted on the gift card. The manager then responded that the receipt doesn't give proof to the amount currently on the gift card and that she could have used it before. Then he asked her, " is this your first time here," to which she replied "no" and he then asked "how many times have you been here before?" This was a very rude question to ask because there's no reason for this question. He then followed up with "you should just use your gift card the next time you come in." My sister responded with "my brother, his girlfriend and my mother are all coming from out of town and wanted to save this gift card for this occasion." Then he responded with, "okay give me a moment" and as he walked away he muttered, "see you next time." We were all appalled at this point because it took us over an hour to pay our bill and had the worst experience. My sister wanted to show us a good time and we ended up having a terrible time. None of us will ever be coming back and will lose a bunch of recommendations because we'll all be glad to take our business elsewhere. Thank you for the great food and the worst customer service! P.S. if you're the owner of this establishment, you should really look to fire your manager he's only hurting your business. You have a great spot and great food but the worst staff. read more

They don't know what's available at the kitchen and what's not, we ordered to go because it's covid, talked for a manager about the following issues: Keep in mind I literally live 5 minutes away, we call and ask for a tomahawk amongs other items, a steak tar tartar, truffle pasta bolognese, a burger with a side of salad and a avocado salad. we asked about the Cesar salad if there are any anchovies in it, the lady on the phone was sure there wasn't, we had doubts so she asked to call us back. She called back saying it does, and there is no tomahawk, we proceeded to order a porter house instead. She instructed to get there in 25 minutes. I get there in 20 minutes to be a bit early Incase there isn't any parking. I get there and she tells me there is no steak tartar. I order a truffle pizza instead. She ensured me the order will be only 5 minutes longer. I finally get the food about 15 minutes later. The pizza was fresh. The rest of the food was cold. Keep in mind I literally live less then a mile away. Called the manager and expressed my issues and also let him know the burger came with fries not a salad. After explaining how the order taker doesn't know what the kitchen has available and the lack of knowledge on the ingredients in the food, he offered to pay for my side salad on the burger that was missing. I expressed to him that I'm not looking to get credit or anything for free and how the person taking orders needs better training but I don't think he got the point. If you want to dine in this place Is amazing, for takeouts it's a complete mess and the quality wasn't the same. @wallys, spend time resources into training your staff and improve internal communication. read more

Review only as a wine shop: it's tough to find wines inside. Dark inside, crowded-but-not-quite-crowded by diners at their tables, and the locations of some wines is not obvious. Their selection is generally excellent but definitely ask an employee to help you-- and it's best if you have a specific shopping list before showing up. read more

I was super skeptical because I thought this was yet another old WASPy hangout of fuddy duddies in Beverly Hills since Wally's the wine store is kind of like that too. And you know what, my gut instinct was right! HOWEVER, this foray of a wine store turned into a cheese store turned into a gorgeous place to drink and eat really good food is so fabulous that you will not be dissapointed. We went for a nightcap after dinner and ended up having a second dinner of sorts. The cute sommelier is really good and instead of the whole bottle, charged us for just 4 glasses. We were so happy, ordered another bottle. So much drinking made is hungry, so we ordred the cheese plate, truffle pizza and fries. All very very tasty. The interiors are carerra marble tables with ceiling to floor wine bottles and excellent lighting. It gets busy but everyone's there to unwind and it really is a great, unpretentious ( i know right!!) way to enjoy great wine. Food is pricy,but it's BH so don't complain. Isis was helpful and attentive and we were greeted by several people who work there (Christie and Sami) who checked on our experience. So wonderful to experience such great customer service! Ask for a side of their pesto & put it on your sandwiches. It's a nice addition. There's also a pretty convenient parking lot next to the restaurant. I think the first 2 hours are free. When you doubt there is a heaven... go here. This review is for how amazing Wally's is, and also to give big thanks to the girls who have been so awesome and helpful for me there. Liz, one of the sommelier's, Christine who works in the massive cheese area, and also I was kindly helped by a sommelier that was there yesterday afternoon, but didn't get her name. She was great too. I stumbled upon Wally's a few weeks back when a girlfriend was visiting from out of town, and we were just walking around Beverly Hills... we stopped in there for a drink, and I was blown away by how awesome it was, everything from the ambience, the staff, the incredible wall to wall wines and bubbles. It's impressive and special. I went a few days later to buy the wine I drank on the night I was there and met Liz, who has definitely expanded my horizons on wine, I let her pick a bunch of wines out for me on one occasion, and they have all been phenomenal. Who knew life existed beyond the standard wines I always consumed. Like the same 2. Wine's from every nook and cranny of the world. It's fun, it's a wine adventure. I don't have much knowledge on wine, I just know what I like, I explain it.. and she takes it from there. Yesterday I was having friends over and needed to put out a nice spread of cheese/meats etc.. and since I was there buying wine, I ventured over to the huge cheese area. I was planning on going to Whole Foods and just doing what I normally do, but hey.. when in Rome right? I was helped by Christine ( I really hope I got her name right ) super sweet, helpful and fantastic. I told her what I needed.. which was basically her to pick everything out that she likes, so I can serve a good spread to some friends. She picked 5 cheese, 2 cured meats, fig/grape jelly, olives, crackers, bread, balsamic vinegar and olive oil, that pretty much had my friends practically licking my counter top. The conversation of the night revolved around "omg, omg, omg, this is so good" and repeat. Bonus not much to clean up because the entire thing was devoured. I took pictures of all the labels, so I can do a paint by numbers thing next time I have friends over, if Christine isn't there to make magic happen.. they probably have other cheese goddesses there too, so I'm sure no matter what Wally's will make another fabulous night happen for me when needed.
