Reviewing Wallys in LBI today- my friends and I went there last week and we made reservations online but we still had to wait when we arrived. It took a while for our waitress to only bring us water but to even greet us. It was a really nice night and they were pretty busy but it took about 15 minutes to even get water. Once she came to our table, we put in our full order and the food came out really fast. The appetizers were phenomenal, really really good comfort food. I recommend the Chicken Ranch Quesadillas as a starter. We all ordered some type of a sandwich (Chicken Avocado, Mahi mahi fish sandwich, and a double cheeseburger) The buns were not toasted and my sandwich only had one slice of avocado which was sort of disappointing. Wally's has become one of my favorite restaurants in Surf City. Early bird specials are $15 and there is a big selection. Start off with a surprise appetizer from the chef which changes daily. In a word, perfection! The place is spotless, the service is warm and welcoming And the menu options and food were fantastic! My husband and I are vegan and there were so many great vegan options to choose from. I had a tofu scramble and my husband had a vegan burrito and vegan waffles . All were decent sized portions and so so delicious. Our server Andrea was so patient and answered all of our questions and took great care with our order. Cannot say enough great things about this dining experience! Called long distance to purchase a gift certificate for someone special as a thank you. It was very last minute, and after a few other fine dining restaurants in the area were completely unhelpful - (we actually were quite surprised by how cavalier and unhelpful places various venues in the area were!!) ... Decided to look up reviews for great food, great atmosphere and great service - and happened upon this outstanding establishment! When we called, despite being overwhelmed by walk-in business, Adina the manager answered all our questions and not only ensured that we could get the gift processed immediately, she graciously even handle getting it sent overnight so we could get the gift to the recipient in a timely manner. She ran everything by the owner, who graciously approved everything swiftly so that we could get everything done. Happy guests, happy gift recipient. So outstanding. Was in LBI for the week and went 4X... So beyond safe for allergies. My sister is celiac and they are just incredible and have such kind employees as well. Overall, this place is fine if you have the money. I cannot recommend this place for dinner, as the 30$ price tag attached to most of the entrees gives you a lackluster amount of food. The food is fine. It's just fine. It's definitely NOT bad, but it's not anything I'd come back to in the future. I started with the Drunken Muscles. All were cooked perfectly, with the cream being a nice addition to the sauce. Overall, they tasted pretty good! Then, I moved on to the star of the show: the Clam Chowder. I seriously recommend this soup, as it tasted amazing. You entree comes with a soup and a salad, so if you have the option order the soup. It was the best part of the meal. Lastly, the Bucca Mahi Mahi. The potato's were Luke-warm, and had too much butter, clumping as well. The vegetables were a similar story, coming out cold. The fish, however, was okay. I find it odd that they "deglaze with Sambucca", but little to no sauce was found on my plate. Overall, if you're looking for an expensive, underwhelming dinner, Wally's is your place. Would I come back? Maybe, actually! I'd try their breakfast, but wouldn't come back for dinner. read more

The only negative thing that I would say is the bugs. There were a bug here and there, but there was also outdoor seating, so there was a few openings for bugs to go in the restaurant. My friend and I came here twice while on our trip to LBI for lunch and dinner. Our lunch was very mid. My friend liked her meal... I got the vegan blueberry souffle pancakes which tasted (unfortunately) like anything but a souffle. They tasted stale and were totally burnt on the tops, which did not add to the flavor. And yes, some vegan things can definitely taste iffy. But this was just not right. The only reason we came back for dinner is because we could not get a table at any other restaurant - July 4th weekend had every place on the island booked, and we also wanted to give it another chance. I got the seafood penne vodka (sans seafood), and my friend got the chicken parm sandwich. We both had about two bites before we both had to put our meals down. Her chicken was completely flavorless, and my pasta/sauce tasted like total vomit. But I've only heard beaming reviews from people who came here for breakfast. Went down the shore for the first week in May and Wally's was a go-to for year round breakfast. We always have a couple of meals there when we are on LBI. My sister got the crepes which she said were barely warm. I ordered a scrambled egg breakfast with home fries, bacon and toast. Couldn't eat the potatoes due to a hot spice on them. Eggs were a little runny. Toast was dry, no butter. Bacon was fine but cold. I can't drink their coffee but have always had great hot chocolate. This time it was hot water and what tasted like unsweetened cocoa. We'll be down a few more times this summer but won't go back. read more

Went to Wally's today for restaurant week lunch all I can say is oh my God! Well actually, I can say more and so I will. Had their chicken soup, the best chicken soup I think I have ever eaten in my life. Hamburger was cooked perfectly and then we tried the crumb cake! All I can say is if you have never tried their crumb cake you have got to go there and get them to make it for you and then bring one home, the best crumb cake I have ever had in my life!!! The atmosphere here is very cozy and the colors on the walls are perfect for the beach, so many people coming and going to eat here will be back many times to eat here again and again.
