There's a slight chill in the air the kids are back at school, the adults are back at work and I find myself at Wally's again. The salmon eggs Benedict are always on the money the Belgian waffles were light and fluffy and I decided to try their homemade crumb cake. Once again I'm never disappointed when I eat here. My family and I came here for dinner with other family after visiting them on their vacation in LBI. Wally's was recommended because they are good for families and larger groups, which we were at 10 people. Got here a bit after 5pm and was able to be seated right away. There were plenty of teenager servers running around in the quite busy and loud restaurant. We got seated outdoors and had enough space. When I had to walk indoors to use the bathroom, it was loud and hectic so I'm glad we got to sit where we were. We started with some mozzarella sticks, a tomato and mozzarella salad and some soup including New England Clam Chowder and a Wild Grain Brown Rice. The sticks were crunchy and not over or underdone, the tomato and mozzarella salad was fresh with the basil and balsamic, and the soup was just average for both. Way too much Italian seasoning in the chowder. For our meals, my family went with a mushroom cheeseburger, Mac and cheese, crab cakes, and chicken parmigiana. Everything tasted quite good. My burgers actually come out as two (!) 1/4 pound burgers each on a Martins roll. They were the temp I asked for - medium rare, and tasted juicy and full of flavor. The fries were also done well. The Mac and cheese was in a huge bowl which seemed to have a whole pound of pasta in lots of gooey cheese. This also was excellent, and more than half came home for lunch the next day. The crab cakes my wife had were "not as good as you make, honey" but nice. A complaint was the price compared to the portion size. This entree was $34 and they came with a side of sautéed vegetables and either a soup or salad. We all felt this was overpriced. The chicken parmigiana had a nice portion of pasta and the chicken had plenty of parmigiana. The sauce was average and you could tell came from a jar. Brought it down a bit. Our server was very helpful and as quick as possible. Be careful if you do sit outside as we saw one of the large table umbrellas take a topple onto customers. We had to rotate ours to keep the sun off some of our sunburns and had no issues with it possibly falling over. $160 not including tip for three appetizers, four entrees, and a lemonade and a soda. We liked Wally's and had a nice time out. Very good for families especially with younger kids, and the food is average to quite good. Was visiting LBI and Wallys came up as an option to eat in the area. Located about a 5 min drive away from the beach it's conveniently located with plenty of street parking. We were in LBI during the slow time so that might explain the accessible parking. We were a large party so made reservations in advance to get seated. As we arrived, we were seated right away in the back area where they had a coffee bar. The other section had TV's that played the games but the section we had didn't have the TV's on. The server was kind and friendly and took everyone's order. The place is BYOB and there's a liquor store nearby if you want to pick up anything. The server provided us with glasses for our drinks. The party ordered a few appetizers such as the bang bang shrimp rolls and artichoke dip. The rolls were good and had a really flavorful sauce. The dip tastes fine but I wasn't the biggest fan of the pita chips that came with it. For my main meal, I ordered the chicken Parm sandwich. I did enjoy the sandwich. The bread was nice and soft but crunchy on the outside. The sauce didn't have much flavor but the chicken was seasoned and cooked well. The fries that came with it were delicious. The party ordered dessert and I have no idea how I did it but I resisted eating any. As I write this review, I regret my decision as it all looked delicious and confirmed by the party as tasting amazing. There was a fudge brownie with ice cream that was definitely calling my name but unfortunately I didn't try it. Don't be like me and try the dessert at this place. Even though Wally's is busy, the food is great and so is the friendly service. I enjoyed excellent clam chowder along with a cheesesteak. The clam chowder is hearty with great flavor. I could have made a meal of the clam chowder and would have been satisfied. The cheesesteak was delicious , if not a true Philly cheesesteak. My wife enjoyed an overflowing Greek salad. It had plenty of good stuff in it. We were lucky to be able to eat outside. They have a nice patio. read more

You know food is incredible when it makes you hum!! We had brunch here while on the island for a wedding. Highly recommend!! You can check in online for less of a wait when you arrive . This is a perfect family and pet friendly location to have scrambled eggs or a complete omelette, waffles or pancakes. Beautiful last day of summer for a road trip to LBI. Stopped at Wally's for an early dinner. The restaurant did not disappoint. We were given our choice of outdoor (requested) seating. Everyone ordered the Ahi Tuna with Wasabi mashed potatoes and Asian slaw. Entrees came with a choice of soup or salad. I had salad with blue cheese dressing. Delicious. My friends had two different soups, also delicious. Service was excellent. Being outdoors was nice for the last day of summer. There was a corn hole tournament across the road with live music: audible but not overwhelming. Service, and value are excellent. Rocky start turned GREAT! We had walked over to Wally's yesterday with my daughter to get a quick breakfast. After a short wait we were seated, where we ran into a few issues with one of the younger hostesses. The manager had then come by cause they further needed the table not realizing what had previously transpired. Rather then taking defense or standing her ground the manager could not have been more open and welcoming to understand what happened and apologize for how it all transpired. She then proceeded to get us seated at a wonderful table outside with a high chair that they hadn't had before giving us exactly what we hoped for. She had also continued to check in on us a few times to make sure everything was good and came out as expected. The food was wonderful as always and our server max was super attentive! OMG! Where do I begin!! We are total foodies so what we eat really matters. It was So damn great! This is the best restaurant on the island! We started with many appetizers. The mussels were, by far, the best around. The sauce is what made it so awesome! We used the last bits of the sauce for French fries, bread, and sandwiches. The New England clam chowder is the best we have ever had. Ever better than country chowder down the road. The crab rangoons were the best we ever had. They were so full of crab. But the best part was the bang bang shrimp egg rolls. We all said they it was the best thing we have ever put in our mouths. Seriously!! The steak sandwich was the best we ever had. First, I would say that I really like breakfast here and would rate higher but I came for dinner. I'm going to pass on this place for anything other than breakfast. First, the hamburgers, are.. fine? They just are something that you would do at home with a wonder bread bun and a slice of tomato and lettuce. Fries were decent but how can you go wrong with fried food and ketchup. Fish and chips. REALLY oily and not so crisp. This usually happens when your oil isn't hot enough and or you crowd your oil. Whatever happened here, it was just.. a lot of greasy feeling. Salad. I forget which one but folks, it is a little bit of a turnoff to have a part of the stem in the salad. It's been a rough season with masks, mandates, etc. but I'm sorry, not a reason to lax on the attention to detail. Other than that, it was pretty standard fare. It could have been a bit colder, to give it a bit more of a crunch and crispness. But alas, it was.. ok. There was a fourth dish; might have been a crab cake? I think there was a soup in there too. But, it was just not memorable. As I'm writing this, this may have been a 2.5 star meal. I really don't know how this meal ended up costing what it did. I really don't mind high prices - it is common on LBI but the reason why I'm saying is that I just don't think that the level was up to what it actually cost. As I said before, I'm really pleased with this place for breakfast/brunch but if I go back, it'll just be for that. We had the prix fixe dinner at Wallys last week and both dinners were delicious. It comes with soup,entree, dessert and beverage for $19.99 which is a good price for LBI. Also it's byob My only suggestion would be to try to give the restaurant more ambience in the evenings. Turn off the tvs, dim the lights a bit and play some music. It's all fine for the breakfast and lunch crowd but it would be more relaxing and less stark if it were piped down a bit Just my humble opinion. read more

Very disappointing experience. We started with the chips and guac, a bowl of chili and a bowl of chowder to share. Soups were great, but the chips were oily and the guac was average. The real issue came with the service. After waiting a good 15 minutes for our appetizers, mind you the place only had about 6 total tables with customers, they were brought out. Then after another ten or fifteen minutes we were wondering why our entrees were taking so long. Our waiter then came over and let us know the entree I ordered, seafood paella, was unavailable on Sunday at 2pm. How is this possible and why did it take so long to let us know that? We decided to leave after the soups and apps as we did not want to wait another 30 minutes. Side note: coffee cake was excellent but felt like we should've got it for free to make up for our experience. Disappointing because we used to love Wally's but had a few negative experiences lately. read more

So close to home and I haven't gone in years! I'm so happy we decided to try Wally's! The seafood is exceptionally good! The blackened Mahi sandwich is amazing with chipotle sauce, just wish the Mahi was a bit bigger. The salman burgers are excellent also blackened with a dill sauce. The south west burger is great it comes with two medium burgers and battered fried onions, it has more but it was my daughter's and that's all I can say besides be hungry lots of food! French fries are always yummy, they put each order in a paper bag so I guess it absorbs the grease and they don't get soggy.The veggie quesadillas and firecracker cauliflower or also good starter choices. Ok- my wife and I sat down for lunch and ordered the Shrimp Bahn Mi Pita Pocket and an Ahi Tuna Sandwich.. Bartender/Waitress started strong- although the food took almost 25 minutes to come out. Ahi Tuna Sandwich came out with a scalding hot pretzel bun, over cooked tuna, and was very bland. Bahn Mi Pita Pocket..... lukewarm shrimp, the pickled vegetables were all clumped together and very cold, and the taste went from bland to super spicy by the time I got to the middle of the pita. The Pita was very soggy by the time I stopped trying to pick the vegetables out of my teeth. We are frequent visitors to LBI and have eaten and enjoyed meals at Wally's for years. Aside from the back room with the bar being super noisy, it's always been very inviting. This visit was pretty disappointing. I think we'll stick to breakfast for the foreseeable future. read more

Nothing but great things to say about Wally's each time we are on the island! Walked right in around 8:30 and seated immediately inside. We have a little one and they were very accommodating with crayons and an interactive menu for him (even though he's too young) but still great service! Even brought him a cup of water with a zippy top so very kid friendly here. The atmosphere is very laid back with options to sit inside or outside, but even when seated inside it is still very open as they have a very large doorway to the outside dining as well. They have a great hot tea selection and let you hand pick which one you want and will bring your hot kettle over to you. As for the food, consistent and excellent as always. A great corned beef hash that was seared to perfection and a textbook Belgian waffle with creamy butter and blueberries. Wife ordered the banana crème brulee French toast with a side of turkey sausage Patties. Not much else to say, when these items are just executed perfectly at a super quick pace, that's when you know a place is on point and will always hit the spot!
