I don't like how disorganized and messy Walmarts are. Nothing is ever where it's supposed to be, and none of the employees know anything, so I'd rather pay a few bucks more at Target for my sanity. This review is strictly for Walmart at 10pm on Thanksgiving. We parked by 24 Hour, walked in at 9:30, got a ticket for the Wii and got in line. The place was pretty packed, but there was no line to get inside, and the line for the Wiis was off in a less busy aisle, rather than the main ones down the center. The people surrounding the $15 Crockpots, where they didn't need to get tickets, were kind of scary. I heard some commotion, and people yelling, but once it hit 10pm, the Wii line started moving and I had mine by 10:05. Then I went straight to the checkout, and waited while Tintin went for games. We were out by 10:20. When we got outside, we saw lots of people queued up to get in, and the parking lot was a madhouse. I'll probably never do it again, but for the one time I decided to brave Walmart for Black Friday, it was relatively painless and productive. read more

Hello, Here is my recent experience of using walmart.com. I got a message on my phone and by email that my order is ready to pick up. I came on the next day to walmart.com pick up location in Mountain View. First of all I standed next to the pick up counter about 10 min without any employee asking how they can help me. Lots of employees (exactly the employees of walmart.com) passed by me talking to each other and laughing (it was definite that they were not busy at all), but absolutely ignoring me standing next to the counter, no one has offerred me help. When I finally (after 10 min standing) asked myself loudly one of them if they want to serve me and give me my order, they even have not apologized, just said: "sure, just a sec" like they did me a favor and paying attention to me. Then the guy spent another 10 min searching for my order without any success. On min 15 he finally found something, but there was only one item I ordered and some other staff that I did not ordered (I told him about that, otherwise he would give me that item that was not from my order). The other item was missing. He said that they have some problems with damaged or mixed up orders. Then he spent about 15 min more going to the shop shelves and looking for what was missing in my order. Then he came back and said that they are out of this item. So all together I spent about 30 min of my personal time on such simplest thing as picking up my walmart order without success (actually I did the order with delivery to the shop with purpose to save my time on shopping, but it turned out other way - I SPENT MORE THAN 30 MIN ON IT)! You can imagine how much nerves I spent on it standing there and waiting without success, when I absolutely did not have time, and I have planned only 5 min of my personal time on such simplest thing as picking up the order. So I was late everywhere due to walmart FAULT. Actually it is the worst shopping and service experience I ever had in US. And it is Walmart. It is shame on them to provide such an awful service in America, and such unprofessional and lazy emloyees (it actually looked like that they are not working there at all and just came there for the first time to enjoy themselves). I was very fortunate to discover Walmart Vision Center of Mountain View, CA. Dr. Lai, Martha, Jenn, Helen, and were very professional, courteous and thoughtful. The customer service was excellent. I can be a difficult customer to please sometimes, but they never blinked an eye and continued to be kind to me. I bought a high-end pair of glasses and was so pleased with the result I ordered a 2nd pair of work glasses. I had been using another vision center for the last several years but wanted to save money without losing quality and Walmart Vision Center saved me at least $500 between the two pair of glasses. The selection of frames was good also. I am going to continue to be customer with this vision center. read more

SUPER BAD experience I am having at the Walmart Showers Dr store (#2280) Mountain View, CA. I bought this bike (Genesis Saber 26") online (walmart.com) and chose store pickup as Walmart offers complimentary assembling of bikes. I bike to work everyday and it was stolen couple weeks ago. I needed one badly & quickly. The package arrived at the store after 8 days on 4/20 and I received an email the very same day. All good till this point. Next day, I drove to the store (6 mi from home) to pickup. To my surprise I was told that the bike isn't assembled and that I have to give a 24 hrs notice to do so. Although, I wasn't happy about this I agreed to come the next day. The store associate did take my ph# and mentioned that I would get a call once it is assembled. 24 hrs passed, 48 hrs passed but no call. After about two and a half days of wait in vain, I decided to visit the store (2nd attempt) on 4/23, as I was pretty confident about the pickup this time even though I didn't receive a call. I was proved wrong. Shocked to find that the bike wasn't assembled this time too. Store associate in-charge mentioned that the associate who took my request previously did not notify the right people to assemble the bike. I was given two options: Wait for 2 hrs or come back the next day. I chose the former as I wanted it badly that day. I was told to call the store before arriving. I called 650.917.0796 after about 3 hrs and asked to connect to pickup dept. After 10 mins of waiting I am told that no one is answering from pickup and was asked to call back after an hr. I called again after 90 mins and same story repeats. I asked to connect me to the store manager Mr.Tyler Allen but got the response that he isn't available till Monday. Two 12mi round trips to Walmart store, several phone calls and you still don't get to pickup your bike. RIDICULOUS!!! What should I do now. Clueless!!! Well Walmart, this two star rating probably isn't too unheard of and almost expected at the Mountain View location. This rating is mostly based on the customer service or lack there of. The cleanliness and organization of the store was lacking and needed some improvement to say the least. Once I was able to find an employee to ask a question, it took another 20 minutes for that employee to find another semi-competent employee to forward the question on to, which ultimately wasn't able to completely answer my question. This is a pretty regular occurrence for me when I have to make this trek, sadly. It seems as though nothing is where it is supposed to be once you're able to find the section that its supposed to be in. It seems as though I have a 50% success rate most of the time. This is the closest Wal-Mart from San Francisco. I usually come here before I head back to school at Santa Cruz. The store has a great variety of products for less and also has generic hose brand products for even less. I really like going to their car section because they sell a variety of fluids for cars including filters and car accessories. Since I like to wash and detail my car, they sell some good products to wash your car. They carry good brands like Mother's and Meguiar's. This Wal-Mart can get busy, so I suggest avoiding coming here on the weekends if you can it will be a mad house. The lines to check out were really long, they had a good dozen of checkers but it took a while to get out of here. Every Wal-Mart I have been to, has a Mc Donalds inside. I guess Mc Donald's and Wal-Mart have some kind of deal. So if you are hungry you can grab a snack and shop Overall I like coming here because its closest to San Francisco, I usually go here if I am in the peninsula or on the way because it's a bit far just to come here and drive back san Francisco since gas prices are rising constantly. -Parking- They have their own parking, but it can be crazy. I suggest parking farther away to avoid getting stuck in the one-way direction entrance of the parking lot. read more

Walmart is great for their product selection and prices. They're practically a one stop shop for everything. In addition to the normal stuff you get there (beauty products, household items, etc.), I like their arts & crafts area and live fish! For being where it's located, you can always find better prices than CVS and Walgreens. In other cities, I have absolutely no problem with shopping there, but my rating is for this Mt. View location. The one thing that keeps me from frequenting this store are the people in and around it. You'll always find multiple people panhandling outside...some are passive while others are very aggressive. Inside the store, it's always ridiculously crowded and the lines are always long. Today, my experience was of a panhandler who was practically chasing me in the parking lot. After completely ignoring him after a few calls, he approached another woman, whom he was still talking to 10 minutes later after I left the store. Why would I subject myself to this, when I can to go Target across the street, where the prices are virtually the same, it's cleaner, the people are respectable and you don't have panhandlers in the parking lot chasing you?!?! In other words, I feel SAFE at Target. read more

On the plus side, the recent reorg of this Walmart has made it a lot easier to find things: - the aisles are significantly wider - the electronics section is in the back and nicely laid out, as opposed to in the middle of the store where it was boxed in on several sides - the grocery section has been expanded However, the staff here remain problematic. Turnover appears to be very high as many team members seem clueless about what the store carries. Similarly, cashiers are too few and take FOREVER to service a customer., leading to super long lines. Given that there is a Target next door that carries items at comparable prices, I would shop at this Walmart only if I wasn't in a hurry, was going to buy more than a few things, and knew that many of things on my list were unavailable at the Target next door. read more

This is the first Wal-Mart I set foot in in ages. I like big shopping stores where you can spend a couple of hours browsing every aisle. We haven't lived near a Wal-Mart in ages so that store has always been Target for me. Wal-Mart does have lower prices than Target but I'm almost positive if I bought identical stuff at Target and Wal-Mart, I'd end up saving no more than $10 tops. A few things about this store: -this store has pigeons flying indoor. -the gentleman at the Site to Store counter in the back was nice. My product arrived Site to Store and I was notified via email twice to pick up. -their phone line was staffed, but no one picked up when I was transferred to the Site to Store department. (By the way, I have to return the bench I bought. Note to self: never buy assemble-it-yourself furniture from Wal-Mart again). I would not return to this store. Wow, who knew customer service could be so bad. Worst. service. ever. I found an item I really wanted to buy on Walmart.com. I wanted to get it right away, and this store showed "Limited Stock". So I called ahead to see if I could put one on hold. Three dropped phone calls later, and multiple discussions with the same increasingly unfriendly depressed woman, I think I will admit defeat. The one cheery customer service lady who told me there were 4 in stock, ran off to check with the manager to make sure there were still some left to put one on hold. Somehow she lost my call and the next woman who picked up (on the same call) told me flat out they didn't have whatever I was looking for. Excuse me - did you even know what I was looking for??? You didn't bother to take the UPC number or check the computer like the previous person. Telling me flat out that you don't have what I want regardless of what it is, and then abandoning my phone call is atrocious customer service. I still want to order the item online, but I'm having second thoughts. First, the item costs $20 more online. Second, I really don't want to support such a poorly run organization. Walmart really needs to get their act together. I was treated so rudely and poorly, I am highly motivated to take my business elsewhere. I am not sure what makes Walmart so bad in this area/ the west coast. I've been to some pretty nice ones in Arizona with organic produce and stuff. Never shop here in the afternoon, evening and night. Place can be a made house. Long lines or not enough cashiers available. There are a few cashiers you want to avoid...well that "I" avoid. They are too slow. Seem to not care about work and just move slow. Some will just stand their or look confused. Other than that, their prices are reasonable. I've heard many names used to describe this Walmart, and I think Hell Gate fits best. Of all the Walmarts I have patronized in my life (and there have been many), this is without a doubt the one that most closely resembles my personal hell. This is where nothing gets found, no one gets helped, and everyone gets aggro. There has never been a single instance where I have found all the items I was seeking. Asking for help has never been fruitful. Because of the time lost to dead-end searching for non-existent items, I have never gotten out of this Walmart in under an hour, also due to its long lines, both in the store and in the parking lot. If you are going to this Walmart (but you shouldn't) pack water and snacks because you will be investing some serious time in here and the water and snacks in the store will undoubtedly be sold out. The last time I visited this Walmart, I forgot my credit card at the register. I remembered within an hour, and returned to the cashier. She had already sent it to customer service, but customer service had its typical long line. I decided to call on my cell phone so I could expedite the process somehow. I was cut off twice while on hold, on top of the fact that the operator did not know what the customer service desk was. I had two choices: spend another hour in that Walmart or cancel the card. I love Walmart's, they have everything, but this one made me sad. The overhead announcements were aggressive, angry and unprofessional to start with. The staff on the floor was rushed and unhelpful and the cashiers were unfriendly. My guess is that an employee culture of being pushed hard and snapped at it is what has created this environment which is not at all customer friendly. I was in about 9:30 pm and had a specific 4-item list, I didn't realize they closed at 10 pm but no matter I can get done long before then. I had to abandon my cart a few minutes into my journey because it was slowing me down once I was over by housewares; the crates for what I assume is overnight stocking blocked my path, I couldn't even exit the way I went in the row because pallets had been dropped there too. I gave up once I got to item 3 on my list out of frustration and a run in with an angry staff member and headed to the registers. It was 9:55 and as I headed for a staffed register someone with a sour expression and judgemental words berated me for being late and told me only the scan and go registers were open. I'm pretty savvy so I can hold my own at the self check out but the elderly woman next to me was deeply upset and as we walked to the self-scanners I promised to help her if she got stuck. I don't live in the area and am down for a conference but I am struck by how amazing my own local Walmart is from the manager on down (shout-out to the Eureka store!) and when I get home I need to swing by and give them a hug and thank them for being helpful even on hard nights, even even it is late, even when it has been raining for months and we're all a little grumpy. Two stars because it is a nice store, seemingly new and had the potential to have been a great stop; I was hoping they would have had the sewing machine I was looking for in stock but I never got back that far into the store. Okay, I know this place can have its bads, but their hours and prices make up for everything. When I need snacks, some food, and other needs, this place is good. Their bathrooms are usually clean to a point where I can actually wash my face in there. To top it all off, they accept food stamps, and they even upgraded their system to be able to accept the electronic food stamps. The Mcdonald's in here is a plus. I love their coffee! Cheap with refills. The only thing that bothers me are the creepy black man and latino man here who likes to give stares at me. This place has kinda gone downhill in terms of cleanliness and ease of navigation. I went shopping last night for some new workout clothes after stopping by the pharmacy to pick up some meds. The pharmacy trip was quick and easy - maybe 5 minutes if that. The attendants at the women's changing room were super helpful. While I tried on items, the attendants kept watch over my things so that they weren't put back on the rack. They also helped me find certain things because of the aforementioned navigational issues. I think the store was in the midst of restocking, because every other aisle (at 8:30 pm) was blocked by a huge pallet of stuff that was twice my height and impossible to squeeze around. I had to take the long way around more than once because I couldn't turn down the most logical aisle. And then the most irritating part? I wanted a yoga mat and they were all out. Not a SINGLE freaking yoga mat. In a Wal-Mart. In Mountain View. Shouldn't this be illegal? Get with the program Wal-Mart! read more

2 stars for selling everything I needed for super cheap, cheaper than Target...however, there were SO many people, old and with children, newbords and large family units blocking the aisles, you couldn't even maneuver your cart. It isn't well organized and some of the stuff is locked up which is quite frustrating because you have to look for someone to unlock it. This like every other WalMart is over crowded, lots of rude people, & everyone is screaming in a different language, kinda makes you feel like you're at the United Nations! When I walked in I noticed a handicapped woman standing by the motorized carts & they were so tightly parked next to one another that the woman could not get one out. There was no one insight (believe it or not they didn't even have the little person with the blue vest greeter standing at the door) so I climbed over the carts to maneuver one out for her. The ladies bathroom was disgusting, the toilets were not flushed, and then the stupid sinks that look like troves for cattle were disgusting. The trashcan was overflowing with of course trash & god knows what else. Don't go unless it's a dire emergency!!!!!!!!!!!!! Spend the extra 10 min driving to another Walmart down the road.
